Summary
When Dean meets a devastatingly handsome man on Halloween, he kind of wishes that he’d gone with a sexy costume instead of the ridiculous outfit he chose, but the man seems to appreciate his sense of humour. He definitely wishes he hadn’t almost immediately licked the guy, but he doesn’t seem to have taken offence. Things may have gotten off to an awkward start, but Dean knows what he wants and it’s this guy.
Cas knows what he wants too and that’s not to be hurt again. He’s a man haunted by his past—hopefully only figuratively and not literally, but he’s starting to wonder. He likes the hot guy from the club, but he doesn’t do relationships, not since... well, he just doesn’t do relationships.

Croatoan verse, 2012. The Croats are getting smarter, there's trouble brewing up in Detroit, and Cas is getting more human and less angel every day. Deanna is trying to find the few bright spots in her life as it stands, but with Michael's sudden appearance, saying "yes" is sounding more and more like the better option.

Summary
Sam is sick and, despite Dean’s strict no-research-rule, finds a case. It’s like these cases sneak up on them when they least expect it. Dean says the hunt can wait; but, Sam doesn’t think that’s the wisest decision so he calls Cas to work the hunt with Dean.
Dean and Cas drive out only to find that the motels are all full; so, they end up in a one-bedroom/one-bath condo, sharing a bed and reveling in the stylish, fully-furnished, khaki-pants lifestyle.
Hunts don’t pause or slow down; they’re fast-paced and brutal. Dean and Cas’ relationship takes equal turns at both.

Summary
For years, Castiel has focused on his medical degree over his magic before ultimately (and quietly) combining the two. As a natural born witch, he has an innate connection to magic.
Or rather, he did.
With that connection strained to the point of breaking without the help of an animal familiar to center him, Castiel's mojo has all but worn out, and he has yet to find anything close to a match. To top it off, a crossroads demon won't stop pursuing him for a pact, but Castiel would rather die without magic than sell his soul.
As his connection continues to fizzle out, he uses all but the last dregs of his power to cast a newly crafted spell that should, theoretically, lead him to a suitable familiar. And without enough magic to cast it again, whatever animal he finds is the one he has to keep.
