A trip to Daegu

Chapter 8: Hyung's Help

Chapter Text

“Is Taehyungie hyung coming too?” Beomgyu asked as he closed the door and  allowed his hyung to take off his jacket and shoes before noticing the plastic bag in his hands.  He led them through the living area into the kitchen.

“Um no, Tae isn’t coming till later. But I came to catch up. Just a surprise visit after work. I just thought I’d treat you to some pastries and fruit.” Yoongi said, looking through cupboards finding small plates and bowls to put the food in. Beomgyu took two cans of carbonated orange juice out of the fridge and walked to the island to watch his hyung wash and chop strawberries and mangos. “Anyway, how are you doing? Have you been busy? Hopefully I didn’t interrupt you resting.”

“Actually, no, I got home not long ago and just took a bath. When we spoke on the phone I was actually out with my managers to the shops to help find some stuff because I finished promotions before the other members. I wasn’t feeling too great so they took me home early. Nothing too worrying though. Hey, but how did you know I was here, hyung?”

Yoongi looked up at the younger male with a small smirk. “I’d overheard something and figured you wouldn’t still be at work. Then I assumed you would be here, but maybe I should have just phoned instead, because you look like you’re ready for bed.” Yoongi pointed to Beomgyu’s brown gingham patterned cotton pyjama set with a fluffy brown zip up on top, the hood up covering Beomgyu's head, little fluffy bear ears on either side of his head; Christmas gifts from his members. Beomgyu seemed to realise what he was wearing and blushed, taking a sip of his drink.

“Oh no, I was just going to watch some TV. I’m grateful you’re here though. It'll be less lonely. Plus , you brought food.” Beomgyu helped Yoongi with the plates and followed him to the living area where they sat on the sofa, a random Netflix documentary playing on the TV. “What did you want to watch?” Beomgyu took a forkful of golden cubes and shovelled them into his mouth, washing it down with the canned drink. Yoongi chuckled and shrugged, implying that it was entirely the younger’s decision. And so they sat side by side watching whatever random K-drama was on Beomgyu’s watch list.

The sound of voices woke Yoongi up. He looked down to see Beomgyu curled up in his lap with his back to the TV and his arms curled up under his chin. He looked so innocent and peaceful. Just looking at his small body made Yoongi’s heart swell. The voices began to rise as he recognised the members had come home. He suddenly heard another voice, this one higher in pitch and more feminine, which caused him to snap his eyes shut. He didn’t know why his first instinct was to pretend to be asleep, but if it helped him earn extra information then so be it.

Yoongi held his breath, heart racing in his chest and thumping in his ears, as he strained to hear the conversation. “Well Soobin-ssi, he’s going to have to get some rest for a while because in the doctor's words he is  struggling severely. He’s on house arrest, essentially, and I was told that he might be on his own for a lot of the recovery, unfortunately but we will send over activities for him to complete to keep him occupied. Lastly, keep in mind he denied the offer of therapy so please, if you can, try and convince him before he creates more harm for himself. I think that’s all- Oh Yoongi-ssi’s here right now.”

Suddenly, Yoongi’s heart dropped to his stomach. He felt his armpits prickle with sweat and willed his eyelids to stay as still as possible. He had tried to steady his breathing but it was making him impatient. “It’s okay he’s asleep. Anyway thanks for today. We’ll finish this conversation tomorrow. I’ll let you go now. Thank you for this, I wish there was something more we could do. But we will do our best and I’ll get in contact soon Eun-ji noona.” Soobin said, his voice directly above Yoongi’s head. There was small talk up until the clang of the door and Yoongi opened his eyes.

Unfortunately when he did he met another pair of dark mahogany irises and the looming feeling of 8 more.

-3  hours ago-

Taehyung was quiet in the car ride to the BTS dorm, where he and Hoseok would unload the shopping and finish chores before the other members would arrive. He couldn’t help but wonder what was happening with Yoongi and Beomgyu. He desperately wanted to be with them both and find out what was causing Beomgyu’s mood to be this bad. He wasn’t craving the need to have the discussion as much as he was just wanting to be there to give his unconditional support and love but either way he was wishing he was anywhere but here. The BTS dorms weren't too far from the TXT dorms but the distance felt colossal right now.

“Tae come help me finish the laundry and I’ll drop you off to the babies’ okay.” Hoseok yelled from the dining room. Taehyung blinked and moved to turn the TV off. He had been standing in the middle of the living room watching the news channel blindly. He all but ran to help Hoseok, with a new found motive and soon he found himself in the parking lot of the TXT dorms. “Taehyung don’t stay too long. We have our schedules early tomorrow, okay. And tell Yoongi hyung to go easy on the naps. He’s never going to fall asleep tonight if he keeps taking naps.” Hoseok said as he adjusted his hair in the mirror. “Also tell the babies I said hi.” He added with a kind smile that warmed Taehyung’s heart.

“You could come too, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind, even if you stayed for a short while.” Taehyung said, combing his fingers through Hoseok’s long waves. They framed his slim face and hugged his ears and neck. The older one just smiled, eyes into crescents, mouth into heart, and shook his head gently.

“No, it’s okay. I have things to do. Thanks though Tae. Now off you go. Get out.” His face dropped to a mock annoyance on his face. Taehyung hopped out with one last goodbye before heading inside the apartment complex. Yeonjun was the one to open the door for him, towel around his neck, dressed in a shirt and joggers, clearly in the middle of getting ready for bed. “Hey hyung. Perfect timing by the way.” He closed the door behind Taehyung before walking further into the apartment. Taehyung followed him into the living area where everyone else sat and stood around. Soobin stood in front of the television with folded arms, Tyunning squished together on the armchair and Beomgyu sat on the sofa. Yoongi was nowhere to be seen.

The atmosphere was tense. Taehyung made his way to the back of the sofa. “Hey guys. Hope I’m not interrupting anything important.” He reached down to ruffle Beomgyu’s soft hair. The boys greeted him gently but he could still feel that maybe he shouldn’t be here right now. And where was Yoongi? Was his shoes still by the door? He couldn’t even remember. Yeonjun came in, disrupting his thoughts. He stood next to Soobin with his hands gripping the towel around his neck, hair now bone dry.

“Nope. As I said, you came at a perfect time. We need your advice.” Yeonjun said. Yoongi emerged from a dark corridor with a loud yawn, rubbing a hand over his face. “Both of your help.”
