To Learn And To Trust

Summary:

With the team finally having all the Lions, the training for their adventure starts. Things don’t go as planned and troubles arise.

Lance feels like he is drowning and his lack of trust hinders the team’s progress. Will he tell someone or will fate force his hand?

I am so excited! When I say I am surprised that you guys wanted a sequel, I really am. But here we are. This is a teaser for what is to come for future chapters.

 

Please don’t ask how long you are going to wait for them, because to be honest, I am not sure. I promise, though, that I’ll get them posted for you guys.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

After their victory against Sendak, the Paladins and Alteans turned in for the night. It was visible to anyone with eyes, how the exhaustion of today was tugging at everyone. No one really said anything when they ate a quick dinner and shuffled into their respective rooms that Coran showed them.

 

 

The hissing of the door closing behind him, alerted Lance that he was standing alone now. Everything was hazy, as Lance shuffled about. Dumping his backpack next to his bed, Lance tried his best to get out of the armor.

 

 

The metal plates clattered loudly on the ground as he dropped it, making him cringe as the sound seemed to echo in the empty room. Trying to get out of the black suit was a hassle as the material seemed to stick to his skin. Probably due to how much he over exerted himself earlier. 

 

 

Finally being able to stand in just his briefs, Lance took the time to finally look over his new home for the time being. The room was quaint, not really small nor large. With his back to the door, Lance took stock of what was visible. To his left was an alcove, and within it was a bed. The bed was three quarters in size and had a thin blanket covering it and a singular pillow. 

 

 

The back wall of the room was empty, but Lance saw a panel on the left side, near where the bed was. On the right wall was another door. The seems of the door visible with another small panel on the right of the door. The room itself was lit brightly. Lance wasn’t sure exactly where the lights were, but it was efficient in scaring off the dark. Despite that, there were teal stripes of light decorating the floor of the room. It looked like the aisle lights on a plane. 

 

 

It was overly simplistic, but hopefully in the future, Lance can make sure it doesn’t look this empty. Like a ghost of its former self. It really gave him the creeps. But most importantly, a part of him yearned at how it used to look like in his previous life. Though, no memories seem to accompany these thoughts.

 

 

Despite feeling overly gross after the day’s events, Lance felt like crashing. So, walking over the pile of metal and material on the floor, he flopped onto the bed. It was soft, but firm. Much better than the beds at the Garrison. The blanket on top was like silk in texture and the pillow fluffy. 

 

 

In an instant, he fell asleep. Mind falling into the depths of darkness, while twin purrs echoed from somewhere.

 

 

 


While the teen gained some well deserved rest, the other occupants weren’t so lucky.

 

 

A friend laid on his back, mind spinning with fears and worries.

 

 

A young girl sat before a pod, hope blooming in her chest, but eaten away by worry.

 

 

A young man sat with questions with no answers.

 

 

Another running away from nightmares.

 

 

In in their own home, two sat and mourned for the lost.

 

Chapter 2: To Note

Chapter Text

To put it plainly, I am putting this on indefinite hiatus.

 

To those who waited for a sequel, god, I am so sorry. I feel like I am a huge disappointment.

 

Reason why I am dropping it? Well, it’s hard to write when you have no motivation for it. I love this fandom and the characters, I really do, but I think it is time I left it behind me. Perhaps I will return to it on a later date and rehash it, but not now. I don’t have the passion to write the characters like they deserve to be written.

 

I have written down the storyline, it is just hard to write an actual story for it. If you would like, I could post it for those who would like a conclusion to this story, but as of now, this story is considered done and dusted.

 

Once again, I am so, so sorry for just cutting out like this. I know I hate it myself when stories do this, but please understand, I just wouldn’t be able to give you something I would be actually proud of. However this does not mean I am leaving the community. I’ll be lurking around and when I have something to give you, perhaps in another fandom, I’ll post it.

Chapter 3: Storyline

Summary:

So, due to people being absolutely awesome and supportive, I just want to say thank you for it. Here is the summary for those wanting to know how everything would have gone.

Chapter Text

Episode of training to become voltron and the robeast: 

 

  • start of with mental breakdown because bottling emotions are not fun.
  • Training basically doesn't happen because fight on what to do
  • Lance insists trust and bond ((Shiro confirms that mental bridge that happen during Voltron)
  • Allura tries to counter, but Lance is basically on edge and the info swimming in mind makes him short with her.
  • Sort of snaps at her, saying that she may have known about the Lion's longer, yet she has no idea how it works, what it feels like and the pressure it creates.
  • Forms a rift between the two and makes the rest more apprehensive 
  • Hunk and Pidge worry greatly for Lance
  • Try to get him to open up, but Lance dodges it each time
  • Food fight still happens and is required because despite all the trust exercises you can't throw someone to trust someone else with their life on such a short time. So rest of time play trust exercises.
  • Next day, they start training with Lion's to appease Allura and forge the bond better. (Voltron is still wonky, but that shouldn't hinder them from being able to defend themselves)
  • Rely heavily on Lance because he knew best. Uses him as a crutch
  • Lance withdrawn, even more so because there is literally no one he can talk to and he feels like he can't.
  • It basically makes him a hypocrite for citing trust when he himself can't
  • Keith and Pidge are being affected by this more and the three tend to snap at each other more often
  • Hunk keeps playing mediator, but is also quickly getting tired. Shiro, doesn't know the other two well, so tries to get Keith to back down, but focus is more mission wise
  • Arusian thing happen
  • But voltron is barely hanging together 
  • The only reason one was because Shiro panic attack Slash flashback forces them to work together.

 

 

Sendak attack

  • Tension heavy despite joyful atmosphere of party
  • Even Shiro and Coran on edge 
  • Lance is literally vibrating with stress even Blue and Red struggle. Keith notices red absence, and tries to blame Lance, even if he is right, that was wrong 
  • Lance snaps, says questionable things, let a few things slip
  • Uses the shock to run away and hide.
  • Lance brakes down in control room
  • Coran comes helps distract him
  • When leave, Lance takes notice of bomb but mind too tired notices too late 
  • So only has time to shove Coran away and bring up shield
  • Flung across the room and head hits the wall hard and goes unconscious 
  • Team comes in panic and realize predicament 
  • Try and fail to get a plan and they finally realize that Lance was the one that had kept them a float the past few days because the extensive knowledge of Lions
  • It also when they realize he has been so short it was because of the stress 
  • Hunk and Keith also bring forth the info Lance let slip
  • Everyone worried more than ever as understanding started to dawn on them
  • The whole plan finally figured out 
  • Pidge then only brings up ship had been working on 
  • She wasn't going  to leave like in canon because of agreement of staying, but it was being made as an escape when she couldn't take Lance any more
  • The guilt she felt when she realised his stress would be large and shameful for she was trying to escape Lance was drowning
  • The seen where the big fight happens, Lance is barely awake, and sees Pidge being strangled
  • Concussed, Lance doesn't think of his actions as he draws up quintessence and shoots Sendak down to release Pidge
  • This was visible, but it was believed to be his Bayard
  • Team saves the day yay!
  • But when Keith gets to Lance, Lance is out, barely breathing
  • When Coran and Hunk return they get Lance into a pod
  • Debrief
  • Shiro stating that when Lance wake up, they are going to talk, because what happened today couldn't happen again
  • Unknown, and unseen, Lance's marks flare up for a second then disappear
  • Lance also clearly need help because there was definitely something up
  • Lance wake up
  • Wait in silence
  • Ensuing talk
  • Lance finally releasing emotions
  • Promise to talk to others 
  • Team finally getting together 
  • The others left Lance to the Alteans so that Lance could apologize to Allura alone
  • Understanding, but mention of Altean marks and what not that was not mentioned in talk
  • Lance just say he wasn't ready and barely understood himself 
  • The Alteans understood but made him promise to talk to them about those problems
  • It wasn't enough but a start
  • Book ends with their take off into the unknown
  •  

 

 

Extra:

  • Zarkon’s and Haggar sending out the Robeast but it is obvious that it is targeting the blue Lion more specifically 
  • Sendak tacking pleasure at holding Lance. A new prize for him. A treat.
  • Meaning the Galra want Lance more than Shiro, but anyways.
