Chapter Text
When Athena woke up she had a vague memory of the last time she woke up. She just remembered her mama, but that shouldn't be possible. She hadn't seen mama since she had escaped.
She looked around and saw Hera standing in the doorway talking to Apollo. Fuck. She couldn't have? Surely Hera would've corrected her. As far as everyone else knows she didn't even have a mother. She did miss mama though, maybe it would be nice to have someone care about her again.
"Athena?" Apollo's voice startled her out of her thoughts, "Can you hear me?" They were both standing next to her now. She tried to push herself up to a sitting position, only to feel Apollos hands pushing her down. So this was going to be a bad interaction. Just great.
"Apollo, can you leave us?" Hera was clearly commanding rather than asking. Apollo said a few words that Athena didn't hear before leaving the room. She tried to sit up again, this time she felt Hera's hands push her back down. "Apollo said you have to rest, now, drink" Hera held a cup of something to her lips and Athena swallowed it obediently, she didn't want Hera to be any more annoyed than she already was.
It was bad enough being sick with Apollo in charge, let alone a potentially annoyed Hera. After all her step-mother was infamous for hating Zeus' illegitimate children, so she had no doubt Hera would HATE being treated as one of Zeus' cohorts, even if Metis had been queen before Hera.
"Athena?" Hera looked, concerned? Why on Olympus would she be concerned rather than annoyed. "Are you feeling a bit better?"
Athena nodded, her throat felt too raw to speak but she guessed Hera was really asking wether or not she was still hallucinating.
"Do you remember what happened earlier?" She nodded again, of course Hera would bring this up. "Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"
"Of course not," Athena forced herself to speak, almost breaking out in a coughing fit.
