Chapter Text

When lance comes back from break he knows that something must be wrong. Well maybe not immediately but still. He goes to the board to make sure he's still first. And of course he is. Then he checks his schedule for his first class. The school is huge and well he got lost and was a little bit late. Anyways he walked in and thankfully the teacher was still waiting  for students to come in because it was the first day. 

However what he wasn’t thankful for is that Keith was sitting in the back staring at him. Like staring really hard at him. You would think the guy had a crush on him or something. Then he starts waving so now he has to go over and talk to him. FUCK HIS LIFE. 

“Hey Keith.” He says while taking the sit in front of Keith. 

“Hey Lance. Did you have a good break?” 

“Yep, it was pretty chill. What about you?” 

“ It was good. Shiro actually took us somewhere. We went to California. We stayed there for nearly the entire summer. I was so fucking sunburnt. I looked like a red skittle. We eat junk food the entire time. Oh and they bought me this um like um I don’t know what you call it. Shit! ummmmmmm oh! It’s like a walk man. But like it better. It has all my music and anything I want to listen to is on it. It can also be kinda like a speaker if I want it to and it does other stuff. “ 

Holy shit! This guy just talks just to talk apparently. He’s lucky lance is such a good person or else he would have just turned around already. And he’s still talking! Jesus Christ! 

“But yeah anyways we came back like a week ago. shiro and Adam were freaking out cause they gained so much weight. It was sooo funny.” He said while laughing. Well at least he was happy “so what did you do? I’m guessing you spent it with you family mostly.” 

“Yep. I went surfing and mostly stayed on the beach. I got a lot darker if you haven’t noticed. Ummmmm… I didn’t do anything too fun but I did talk to this one girl that was visiting. She was super pretty and we spent some time together. She gave me her number but I don’t know if I should text her or not.”

“Um maybe?” That and a shoulder shrug was all he got. Seriously this guy was no help.

“Yeah maybe.” 

The teacher started talking soon after. Nothing too out there. Just regular rules and time frames for certain assignments. The usual. Anyways while he was TOTALLY listening he kept seeing someone look back at him. He’s never seen this kid in his life. Like yeah he knows he’s amazingly good looking but come on have some shame. Dude this guy is pissing him off. He keeps looking at him. 

“Hey Keith do you know that guys?” He said while tilting his head to point at the Guy. Both Keith and Lance turn to look. The guy is looking right at them. Creepy.

“Yeah he had a class with me last year. He tried talking to me but I just didn’t want to talk to him so I kinda ignored him. Hopefully his not like mad or anything.” 

“Yeah, hopefully not.” He did not want any problems just because Keith liked talking at him.

Anyways he and Keith apparently were trapped into having the same lunch so now he’s stuck with him for lunch too. Keith was yapping away when lance got up to get lunch. 

“I’m going to get lunch, are you coming?”

“No, I'm good. I’m not that hungry.”

He’s waiting in line when he notices the guy from class. He’s laughing and smiling. So the guy obviously has friends. Why would he want to be friends with a guy like Keith? Like yeah he was top of his class but like look at him. He’s got a mullet and fingerless gloves on. Not to mention he’s like the embodiment of every EMO in the world. Maybe Lance was staring too hard but the boy noticed and started walking towards lance.

“You’re lance right? I’m Ethan.” 

“Yep, that's me. We have first together right?”

“Yeah we do. I couldn’t help but notice you were talking to Keith. You guys friends?”

Yeah ‘friends’ that's probably what Keith thinks but if he says that he’ll sound like some asshole. 

“Yeah, what about it?” 

“Oh nothing it’s just I was wondering how you got him to even talk to you. He’s kind of a hard guy to talk to. I tried last year but he didn’t seem all that interested in what I was saying but when I saw him today he looked really interested in what you had to say.” Ethan responded with a little bite in his tone. 

Dude this guy lowkey sounds like a jealous girlfriend. Like dang maybe he didn’t like that you were so obsessed with him like you are now. 

“Nothing special you know? I just talked to him once and then we kept running into each other.” Lance said with a little smug smile. Yes he didn’t like Keith all that much but if this weirdo was jealous of that then maybe being Keith’s only friend was something good.

“Interesting. Hey you don’t mind if I sit with yall do you? I really would like to be Keith’s friend.”

Yep he was right this guy is in love with Keith. Why? Who knows but what he does know is that it’s weird. Not because they’re two boys or anything but because this guy is straight up obsessed with Keith.

“Nah I don't mind.”

“Great.”

So this creep sat with them and it was probably the longest time Keith didn’t talk to lance which was good. However instead of Keith talking it was the creep talking and lance could understand why Keith didn’t want to talk to this guy. All he talked about was how cool Keith was and how he hoped Keith could teach him some stuff and how cool he thought Keith was and how he loved Keith soooo much. Well not that last part but that’s basically what he was saying. Once lunch ended he said bye to Keith and told Ethan to follow him.

“Look man I get that you think Keith’s sooooo cool and all but that’s probably why he didn’t want to talk to you last year. No one wants a friend that only talks about one thing. Plus Keith hates attention like that. He just wants to chill and be seen as a normal person. He’s pretty socially awkward anyways. So yeah that’s all I wanted to tell you.”

“ oh. Yeah. Okay. I can see that in hindsight that would be a pretty bad way to try and be his friend. Thanks for telling me.”

“Yeah no problem man.”

Maybe if Keith made new friends he would stop bothering lance so much. Even if his new friend is a weirdo creep who’s obsessed with him.
