Chapter 1: Rest a While

Chapter Text

Felix lounged in the corner of the couch, a book held loosely in his grasp, his mind straying from the pages while thoughts of tasks due plagued him. Y/n looked over at the blond, his glazed expression saddening them.
They quietly closed their own book, setting it to the side and crawling over the cushions. Felix blinked his dry eyes a few times, his gaze coming back into focus on his partner in front of him, a small smile crossing his lips.
"Hallo, Schatz." He murmured gently, easily letting them take his book as well. Blue eyes carefully watched the h/c in front of him, his hands lightly settling on their hips when they straddled his lap. A bright flush worked its way across Felix's face when y/n settled in their place on his thighs. "What are you up to?"
Dainty hands carded through sandy colored locks, moving to softly cup his face as he hummed.
"You had that look on your face again." Y/n whispered to him, brushing a thumb over his cheek. "I don't like when your brain is mean to you…" they shook their head. Felix's eyes saddened as he leaned into their touch, smoothing his thumbs over their revealed skin from their ridden up shirt.
"I can't help it, there are so many projects due.." he went to turn his head, his nose crinkling slightly when they pulled him back to look at their gentle face.
"That can all wait, Fe." A playful smile crossed their lips when he huffed and rolled his eyes. They wiggled slightly on their perch "the deadlines aren't 'til next month, and you're so far ahead anyway…"
Felix gazed up at them, smiling softly once more, nuzzling into their palm, placing a soft kiss there.
"What do you suggest, Angel?"
Y/n glanced at the book in his native tongue that they sat down.
" Could you read to me?" They leaned into his chest when he chuckled softly and nodded, his stubble scraping their skin.
"Ja, of course, dove." He pulled them closer while he picked up the book. Y/n listened to his heart beat and his voice gently rumble within his chest, their eyes scanning over the pages lined with German.

They understood some of the words, Felix had been teaching them over the course of time they'd been together, but they enjoyed listening to him so much more. His words had a richer quality when spoken with the confidence that comes with speaking it his whole life. E/c eyes trailed back up to the blond, watching his face as his own eyes swept over the pages. He brought his free hand up, gently petting y/n's hair and continuing onto the next page. They hummed quietly, nuzzling against his neck, breathing in the earthy scent of his cologne, fully melting against his warmth. He smiled softly when he felt their lashes flutter against his skin, his voice softening as he leaned his cheek against their head.

Y/n sighed softly, blinking their bleary eyes open a few hours later. They looked around briefly, smiling At the blanket draped over the two of them, and the light snores beside their ear. They gently picked up the abandoned book and set it on the table, snuggling closer to the architect. They reached up and gently brushed some of Felix's blond locks from his face before settling their hand back against his chest, feeling his steady heart thrumming against their palm. Their eyes stayed on his expression for a few moments longer, all of his previous anxiety had melted, inner peace replacing it. These moments were some of y/n's favorite. Felix usually held such high standards for himself that it was hard for him to relax, but occasionally, a good book and a warm body pressed against his was the perfect recipe for a peaceful few hours.

Chapter Text

Inspired by this prompt: Dwight and Reader sleeping on top of each other (in the bed, couch, where ever you prefer) when Reader flops down on the floor.

Silence. Calmness. Serenity. All of these things were rarities in the Entity’s realm, she kept it chaotic as to keep her toys in a general state of distress, however, even she had mercy from time to time.

This was one of those times.

A calm quiet had settled across the camps scattered in the woods. Some survivors were resting while others were organizing their equipment or trading their bloodpoints for new items with the Entity. A lighter mood had settled over the compound, while the groups enjoyed the reprieve in their own ways.
Kate plucked her guitar in a quiet tune around the fire while Felix watched with interest and Meg hummed along. Bill was napping in his small tent while Claire and Leon played tic tac toe in the dust nearby. A genuine peace was blanketing the space.
Claudette, ever the caregiver, was concerned when two survivors were not immediately accounted for, causing her to go on the lookout for them despite Jake assuring her they were fine. The petite woman searched the surrounding bonfire areas before finally finding her missing friends by the main fire. There they lay, as healthy as can be and resting peacefully with each other. The Leader gently held the other survivor as they slept, one arm around them protectively with a hand gently nestled in their hair. _____ gently grasped the front of his sweatshirt when a slight breeze blew through, carrying the eternal autumnal chill of the realm to both of their sleeping forms. The fire cracked and flickered while it gave off its weak warmth and _____ nuzzled deeper into Dwight’s chest, and jacket that hung loosely on their frame. Gentle breaths passed through their chapped lips as they settled once more, Dwight pulling them closer. Claudette smiled at the sweet scene, suddenly feeling like she was infringing on an intensely intimate moment between the survivors. She quietly crept away, content with the knowledge of their safety.

“So, did you find them?” She looked up to Jake who was whittling without looking up at the small woman.
“I did, in fact, find them.” she nodded, settling down beside him to look at the small wooden fox. “A new trinket for Anna?” The outdoorsman hummed his affirmation while he added finishing touches and passed the piece to the brunette.
“You can take it to her if you want.” he simply stated before getting up to walk off. Claudette turned the small toy over in her hands for a moment.

Yeah, these times were her favorite.
