Chapter Text
Prologue:
-1980-
Albus Dumbledore sat behind his desk in the Headmaster’s Room at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, sucking on a lemon drop, lost in contemplation.
The Professor of Divination, Sybill Trelawney, had given quite a prophecy a couple days ago, closing his eyes Dumbledore recalled the memory.
The one with the power
to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...
born to those who have thrice defied him,
born as the seventh month dies...
and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal,
but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...
and either must die at the hand of the other
for neither can live while the other survives…
the one with the power
to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born
as the seventh month dies....
Only two families met the requirements of the prophecy, the Longbottom’s and the Potter’s. Getting up Dumbledore walked toward his fireplace and threw in some floo powder.
“Potter Manor.”
**********
-1981-
Lily and James Potter had been raising two children, twins, Ethan Sirius Potter and Heir Harry James Potter. Frank and Alice Longbottom gave birth to their own son, Heir Neville Frank Longbottom.
They had both taken preventive measures to protect their respective families, moving into a different house and setting up a Fidelius Charm.
Months past, Voldemort did nothing.
Then, on Halloween, October 31st, Harry and Ethan were in their cribs, both asleep.
Lily and James had been called to an emergency Order of the Phoenix meeting and had left hurriedly after making sure their children would be alright.
Downstairs the door blasted open with a resounding bang, both babies were shaken awake. Ethan started to wail loudly while Harry stayed quiet and looked around inquisitively.
The door to the nursery opened slowly and a tall figure draped in black robes glided in.
“Ah, the Potter’s, I’ve been waiting to get my hands on you. Now, who do I kill first?”
The man known as Voldemort looked at both babies, one was wailing obnoxiously the other seemed to be glaring at him, almost as if he knew what was about to happen.
Looking into the green eyes of the glowering child Voldemort’s lip curled into a smirk.
“Avada Ke-!”
A white glow emanated from the green-eyed boy, rippling over everything in the room. The Dark Lord let out an agonizing scream as he was reduced to ash, his robes heaped on the floor. The house shook, the roof crumbled and the glass shattered.
Exhausted from his efforts Harry Potter passed out, his brother continued to bawl as the light vanished.
Seconds later, Order members stormed the house. Lily, James and Dumbledore were the first to make it to the nursery.
The three adults looked at the scene in shock, Albus approached Ethan, the only twin awake, and noticed a deep gash on his forehead, V in shape.
Turning around Dumbledore smiled madly and raised Ethan to chest level.
“Ethan Sirius Potter, the boy who lived, slayer of Lord Voldemort. The Wizarding World owes him a great debt.” The Headmaster declared jubilantly.
Both Lily and James walked toward Ethan in awe.
Had any of the three adults checked on Harry they would have seen a white and black symbol on his chest slowly seep into his skin before disappearing altogether.
