Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Darkness, that’s the only thing that Xie Lian has been experiencing for the number of years he’s spent underground. Half-asleep half-awake while the world continued to flow around him, not knowing how much time has passed. During this time, he had many hallucinations and dreams, no longer being able to tell what reality was anymore. He didn’t mind it; the only issue was that his chest constantly hurt. He can’t complain about it, as he thought that he deserved it for killing Lang Qianqiu's father, the king of Yong’an. He deserved all of it, so he just lay there in limbo not giving the care to do anything at that moment. That is until there was a rumble in the earth.

Suddenly a bright light entered his peaceful darkness, along with a red blurry figure. Xie Lian’s immediate thought was that it was yet another hallucination of being free of the coffin Then Xie Lian felt a cold hand on his face, it was soft, and it touched him with care like he was a fragile piece of porcelain.

“Dianxia?” the figure asked quietly. The voice was full of regret and sorrow, but there was an undertone of anger. That was not what caught Xie Lian’s attention. It had been a very long time since someone has referenced him with that name, as Xianle had fallen long ago, and all of his people and followers left him or died. In these Hallucinations, it was normally his parents calling for him, but they would normally refer to him as a son. So maybe it was Feng Xin, who Xie Lian would dream of coming back to him after he left, but he knew that would never happen as he had left long ago to never return.

Without warning, that person pulled out Fangxin from his chest, and a blinding white pain hit him. When it passed, he soon realized that he was now in this strangers’ arms, but he couldn’t find it in him to be worried, because for the first time in a while he felt safe. His arms supporting his upper body, and underneath his knees. As he started to fade back into that calling darkness the figure whispered.

“I’ve finally found you again” and Xie Lian’s last thought was, how that was such an odd thing to say. He didn’t think too much about it because soon he would awake in the coffin again, hovering in that unforgiving limbo.
