So Confused

Summary:

18bby.

Crosshair was saved a couple days ago from Kamino after the imperial scouts came looking for survivors. He felt needed here. Unlike his brothers.

So why does he feel so damn confused.

Things don’t help when his subordinates catch him in thought.

Work Text:

Crosshair sits in his room aboard the star destroyer. His mind far, far away. He is in the only place where he feels purpose. So why does he feel so useless.

His room was small, a desk and a bed but at least it was separate from the regs and even better, his squad. He chewed a tooth pick and rested his new helmet in his hands. Waiting for an order come to come in for a mission. Just anything for him to do. Put down some insurgents. Separatist remnants. Clean up clone shit. Anything!

His mind constantly floats back to his brothers. They didn’t want him so he left. It’s the way it is. It’s if his own free will to do what he wants with his life, he is on a different path to them. Tech knows this. Wrecker can’t understand this. Hunter doubts this.

But he is desperate to prove Hunter wrong. He is not just CT-9904. He is a commander of an elite squad of the best soldiers in the galaxy. Rampart said it himself. He even killed most of them. Although one still remains. The girl.

The grey door lifts up to reveal the woman in question. Black hair and blue eyes. White skin. This is the first time he has seen her since he’s been back. And he is not happy about it. Then again he never was one for happiness.

“Well, thought I’d have to swim in after you?” She never normally talks to him like this. It’s unusual but he doesn’t say a word. “Didn’t think clones could swim” she spat. His eyes glared over towards her. Her helmet was by her side so he could stare into those eyes. ES-02 eyes.

“Maybe not the regs. But I can swim just fine” his snake voice slithered around those words. He sounded closer to a serpent then any clone.

“Unfortunately” she added. He turned his head slight, not facing her but he was facing the wall next to the door.

“Something to say? ES-02?” The clone commander hissed. He should’ve sent ES-04 to find the kid. At least she didn’t question his orders or be snarky with him.

“I’m you’re new second in command. You and I will spend a lot more time together. Lucky you” after all this he never once thought to stare her in the eyes. He didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of getting a reaction out of him. He is stronger then her. He is smarter then her. He was a clone commando.

“Looking forward to it” he sarcastically spat. His eyes now returned to his lap. Where his helmet sat comfortably. The dark grey colouring which clashed with the dark green visor. Everything about it said evil. But the empire wasn’t bad, it felt just like the republic. No Jedi and no war. Just admirals and rebels.

“So now you need to ask before executing our men” she really emphasised the our. He will do whatever he damn well pleases. What will she be? A Corporal? A sergeant? He outranked his old leader in every way. He was superior.

“There is no our. A pretty little girl like you shouldn’t be getting in harms way” he chuckled to himself. Her face stayed straight and unimpressed.

“I think maybe you should stay off the battlefield. Wouldn’t want to wreck that handsome face of yours” she pointed at him. He could see his reflection in his helmet. Somehow having a chip control his every move made him look and feel more human then without it.

“It’s already ruined”.

“Some brothers they are” Crosshair did try and kill them. But he didn’t have a choice. But he didn’t have one either. Either way, he would take Wreckers constant blabbering over this girl’s snappy remarks.

“Run on little girl. I’ve had enough your kriffing lip for one day” she smirked ever so slightly. He caught it in the corner of his eye. His eyes exceeded any human alive and most aliens too.

“Oh but I feel so safe around you, sir” he laughed. A dry, heartless laugh as he stood up from his chair, finally facing this girl. Dropping his helmet on his chair. He stood over her, brown eyes staring dead into her.

“Don’t worry, little girl. I’ll hold you tight on the battle field. No one will take you or harm you. Besides me” he growled low and deep. At first she seemed intimidated but his eyes alone but eventually she grew to laugh at the clone.

“I’m just so frightened of you. My hero” she spat and walked away. Closing the door behind her. Leaving him by himself. Crosshair moved back to his chair and sat down and placed his helmet back in his lap. He was already through with today. He waited for Rampart to give him a purpose. Until then her words linger in his head.

It will never be over with her. It never will.

Notes:

I thought it was real interesting how they kept one member of his squad alive. So I made this.
