Chapter Text

The warm summer evening is sweltering, even more so that Luz is wearing her typical red beanie.

She wipes the sweat dripping from her brow into her eyes, easily ignoring the oppressive heat. Luz has been wearing the hat almost everyday for the past seven years to hide her round ears. Being the only known human in the Demon Realm, the other species tend to pick fights with her.

When the eleven year old stumbled through the portal years ago Eda took her under her wing and became her new mother.

Especially since Luz no longer had one.

Eda quickly saw the once innocent look in the girl’s eye drain into anger in a matter of months. Luz was constantly on the bloodied end of a fist because of her ears. Of course Eda did what any inexperienced mother would do and gave the child a hat fished out of a lost and found.

And trained the human how to beat ass, bad girl coven style, duh.

Luz greets her demon brother, King, in front of the bar The Owl House . The now six foot demon is wearing a SnapBack with a crown embroidered on the front with his horns sticking out of the top, and a pair of black cargo pants; he wears a shirt occasionally.

“What’s up snaggle toothed bastard?” Luz lazily grins, extending her hand to do the Boo Boo Buddy secret hand shake.

“Shut it, your face makes onions cry bitch.” King rolls his eyes unamused, “Eda wants to see you, she’s in the office and she’s pissed.”

Luz offers a half hearted shrug and pushes her way through the weekend crowd to the back of the bar. She practically kicks the door labeled ‘employees only’ open,” Sup?”

Eda on the other hand isn’t in the mood for Luz’s attitude, she places the quil down and closes a record book. The elder swivels around in her chair to give the teen her full attention, she is tired of having the same conversation.

“Luz, we talked about this. We have rules in place for this exact reason, do you understand how badly you fucked up?” Eda rubs her temples, she doesn’t like to talk down to Luz, but the teen won’t get it through her head.

“That Emperor Coven bitch was selling on our turf! Someone needs to keep them from moving in on our streets!”

Eda slams her fist on the desk,” That isn’t for you to deal with, we have Bruisers for a reason.”

“I want to fight! I’m tired of being a delivery boy?” Luz shouts, now pounding her fist against the desk.

“And you will, once you fucking use your head! Me and Belos made a treaty, you just blew it.” Eda sighs in defeat and slumps in her chair.

Luz’s eyes were wide with shock, she didn’t know about the treaty,” What? Why would we have anything to do with those fucks?”

“We wanted to take down the Blights once and for all. We would get a 40% cut of the empire and keep out of each other’s business.”

“Fuck. When did this happen?”

“An hour ago, but kiss that shit good bye.” Eda gets out of the large leather chair and strolls over to the wall safe. “Now we have to do damage control, again. So you’re going to do what you do best and move product.”

Eda hands her a backpack with different powders and glass bottles with neon liquid that can make you see the Titan himself. However, there is a new murky brown bottle among the other drugs that Luz isn’t familiar with.

Before Luz can open her mouth, Eda says,” On the bright side me and the boys in the lab developed a new hybrid. Purple lightning is like steroids and basilisk blood mixed together.”

“Oh shit, so you get stronger and you’re wired for hours? But it’s brown, why is it called purple lightning?” Luz stares at the bottle suspiciously.

Eda returns to the desk and pulls a picture from a file,” If you take too much at once it makes your veins look like this.”

The picture is of a male witch strapped to a table thrashing with purple oozing from his eyes. His veins are bulging against his skin in a neon purple color. It really does look like streaks of lightning tattooed against his light skin.

An overdose looks brutal.

Luz takes the bag and adjusts her red beanie, not really wanting to know anymore about the drug than she has to.

“Luz, I know I’m not the best when it comes to being a parent, but I really am trying to teach you. I love you kid, I hate seeing you hurt.”

Luz nods, not knowing what to say, she’s just as emotionally stunted as Eda. The teen gives a silent wave and heads out of the bar, ignoring King sticking his tongue out.

She wanders the street, the route she has memorized for years. If she was honest with herself, there should be a deeply worn trail for how much she ‘delivers’.

The night seems almost too quiet in the low income housing area, Luz scolds herself for not bringing her bat along, she pats her hip to ensure her dagger is still there. The teen always has a deck of glyphs in her pockets, the order she has memorized where each type lay in the deck.

Luz waits in the local park, opting to sit on the bench closest to the swing set for the best view of the park. She learned early on being able to survey her surroundings to reduce the risk of an ambush, but that doesn’t keep the tweakers from trying.

As the moon slowly takes its familiar seat in the black sky, the ‘customers’ come and go with shaking hands. A few disappear into the shadows of the park to consume their product while a handful stand around and talk to Luz.

The conversations aren’t very cerebral, topics ranging from the Grudgby match yesterday to the best places to hook up. Sure Luz is friendly with her customers but not overly attached, because they can show up one day and end up in the cemetery the next.

The last customer of the night surprises Luz, the muscular man is someone she recognizes.

“Hey, what’s up man.” Luz lazily smiles, trying to put the nervous man at ease before the situation can escalate.

“Here’s your snails.” The man tosses a small pouch of coins to the dealer.

Luz nods and pulls the vial of purple lightning out of her jeans and keeps it in her fist. She then raises her hand to give him a fist bump, the athletic man looks at her confused but returns the gesture.

Like magic the bottle is in the palm of his hand, and the man stares at it like a god has just blessed him.

“You’re Seumas hamthrurow, from Brawl Federation.” Luz states with a blank expression, her poker face is put to the test. “Aren’t you under the Blight’s payroll?”

If a fight breaks out, Luz knows she can out run him, but the problem is not letting him get a punch in beforehand.

He pauses, if he were a cat his hair would be on end. “I am, but Eda said this shit will help in my fight next week. The Blights will leave me in a ditch if I lose again.”

Luz briefly considers he might be a snitch for the rich assholes, but his story checks out, the Blights kill for less. “Good luck with that.” She waves him off, she is definitely going straight to Eda with this juicy piece of information.

She hops off the table with the backpack sling around her shoulder, heavy with the payments of snails she just collected. Luz makes her way to the bar, retracing her steps and whistling a song she just made up.

The gang member fearlessly walks beside dilapidated buildings, some are open while others have long closed their doors. Some of the buildings are now home to squatters who have been pushed out of the city by the Blight’s enfluence.

A flash of green catches her eye, as she passes by a building that used to be a home goods store. Luz acts like she didn’t see anything, moves her hands from the straps of the backpack to her pockets. Her fingers gently brush against the glyphs, she finds the section with a jagged groove, just what the situation calls for.

The stranger shoves the dealer into an alley between a condemned church and a whore house. Without hesitation Luz unsheathes the dagger on her hip, now regretting leaving her bat at home.

The attacker is none other than the youngest Blight child, the prodigy. She is a part of the largest criminal empire in the city, that particular shade of green hair warns passersby of her untouchable status.

The two stare at each other, it feels like the calm before a devastating storm. Amity’s eyes keep flickering to Luz’s ears, like she’s trying to find something that’s nowhere to be found.

Well it looks like I might not be able to charm my way out of this one.

The Blight’s hand ignites with a large pink flame larger than her hand, causing the air around the two to cook.

“You’re that Owl lady’s pet human.” Amity’s face scrunches up into a deathly scold.

Luz does the only thing she knows and just hits Amity with the hardest shrug with a shit eating grin.

The pink fire ball hits the wall where Luz was just standing a moment ago. Luz lunges with a dagger in hand at Amity’s throat, but she grabs Luz’s wrist with a death grip and wrenches the dagger out.

The two struggle, trying to get the upper hand on the other, but the witch seems slightly stronger than the human.

Amity executes a quick leg sweep, causing Luz to fall flat on her back and to knock the air out of her lungs. The witch takes advantage of this and jumps on the human, pinning her wrists above her head.

The two stare at each other in the stalemate, Luz can’t pull a glyph from her pocket and Amity doesn’t have enough time to cast a usable spell. Though that doesn’t mean the human doesn’t have a trick up her sleeve.

Luz shifts her hips, trying to get one leg free enough to shove into Amity’s stomach to get more space to move. This however seems to piss the elite witch off and she tries to head butt the human.

“Quit fucking moving!”

“Oh yeah of course princess!” Luz practically spits on Amity’s face.

The witch growls, the vibration can be felt against Luz’s chest. “Get your filthy ass out of the Boiling Isles!” Frustration building from not being able to beat the human below her to a pulp, Amity resorts to fighting dirty. She opens as wide as her jaw allows her, showing off her razor sharp fangs and snaps at the human.

“Yo! Chill bitch!” Luz finally loses her cool and shreks in terror from the teeth coming closer to tearing off the flesh from her face.

Luz defends from her position by quickly turning her head before the talon-like fangs end her life. This seems to piss Amity off even more than before.

Amity let’s out an anger fueled hiss and sinks her teeth in the only spot available for her short frame, Luz’s collar bone.

Luz moans in confused ecstasy.

The two stop and stare at each other, Amity’s mouth still latched on Luz. Taking advantage of the lull in the fight, Luz shoves the witch off of her.

“Fuck, at least buy me dinner first.” Luz groans while holding her neck.

Amity is still silent, her hand over her mouth with a shocked expression frozen on her face. She is still trying to process what just happened and pinpoint the taste in her mouth.

Whatever that taste is, it’s absolutely divine, and she wants more of it regardless of the price.

“Buy you dinner? You fucking moaned you pervert!” Amity exclaims, barely feeling the bits of shirt in her teeth.

Luz raised an eyebrow, “Pervert? Bitch, you’re the one who fucking bit me.”

Amity’s face burns reder than the humans beanie as she leaves in a huff “Stupid human…”

“Little fuck….” Luz holds onto her shoulder, “Ugh I’m so gonna need to jack off later… after I get this looked at” she mumbles, grabbing her things and heading back to The Owl House.

It didn’t take long for the injured human to get back to The Owl House bar, King leaves his post by the doorway and approaches her.

“Damn! I know you’re gonna say that the other guy looks worse but I highly doubt that.” The teen demon smirks at the short human.

King helps Luz into Eda’s office, he can’t resist grabbing a beer on their way over.

Eda’s attention is immediately drawn to Luz, forming the biggest frown she’s ever made. “Wow kid, you really can’t stay out of trouble for more than five minutes can you?”

The grander witch walks over to her desk, digging around for a few healing glyphs, “At this point, you might as well be paying me”

“But you don’t even pay me,” Luz reminds the other.

Eda pauses before slowly looking over, a dead ass look on her face,“I stand by what I said.”

King busts out laughing, nearly spilling his half-filled beer, “Ha! You got in trouble!”

“Alright look, I need someone on warehouse duty. Supplies are running low and I need someone to sort out the stock.” Eda chimes back in.

“I nominate Luz as tribute!” King snickers, earning a glare from the older teen.

“You just need another body to do shit.” Luz comments.

“Did I stutter?” Eda sassily remarks slapping a glyph on the teens forehead.

Luz groans as she storms out of the office down to the basement where she sleeps. As soon as she closes her door, she turns her music all the way up before flopping onto her bed.

“Man… this sucks.” Luz whines as her hand slowly begins to trail down her body, into her pants.

Meanwhile, over on the other side of town, Amity leans on her bathroom counter, slowly picking out bits of shirt from her teeth.

One piece that she pulls out has blood on it, beyond her curiosity, she brings the piece up to her nose and sniffs it.

A soft groan emits from her throat, almost bringing her to her knees, “That’s definitely human but… what the fuck? Why does it smell so good?”

The prodigy’s quiet question is interrupted by a knock on the door, startling her to hide the pieces in a nearby drawer.

The door is quickly kicked down by her older twin siblings “Oh Mittens! We heard you got into another fight.” Em chimes with a smirk.

“Damn girl! You look like you just got your wig snatched!” Ed’s voice squeaks by.

“Usually Ed’s a fucking idiot, but for once? He’s right and that’s saying something.” Em agrees with her male counterpart.

“What the fuck do you two want?” Amity frowns at the annoying appearance of the twins.

“Mom and dad want to know why you were out so late and wanna see you in the study” Em says checking her nails.

“Were you out  kissing your girlfriend.” Ed teases with mock kissing faces.

Amity’s face turns red again as she tosses random junk at them “Oh shut up. The only gay one here is you Ed.” she retorts.

“Suuureeee.” the twins say in unison before leaving the embarrassed teen alone.

The youngest Blight takes a deep breath to compose her thoughts, knowing her adventure to Section 3 won’t go over very well with her parents. She looks over the drawer with the delicious shirt scraps, the desire to rub the blood around her face is overwhelming.

Moments later Amity stands tall before her parents, armed with an air of false confidence and an excuse for her disappearance.

“Amity dear, where were you?” Her mother is always quick to pounce, always trying to catch one of her children in a lie.

“I was surveying an area for further expansion of the empire.” The young witch quickly responded, her voice devoid of emotion.

“In the filthy Section 3?” Her mother clasps her hands together, while her father is fast asleep on his feet.

“Of course, the Owl Lady is weaker than Belos. I figured since the area is home to the docks, once we push them out for good we can open another lane for export.” Amity holds her poker face, any sign of faltering at this point can end with disastrous consequences.

Amity can see the gears turning in her mother’s head, trying to calculate what to say next. “I do applaud your tenacity to make plans to acquire new territory, you will definitely make a better replacement than your siblings. Though, next time you leave that cancerous stain of the Isles, take a guard with you.”

“Of course mother.” Amity bows to her parents knowing her mother is too busy to tear her shitty excuse to pieces.

The moment Amity’s head hit the pillow she allowed sleep to take her, with the gentle scent of the human blood wafting from her bathroom.

Chapter Text

The birds with way too many eyeballs chirp happily as Luz forces the rolling door open to the warehouse filled with human trash. She kicks a banana peel across the room and settles down on a bucket.

Once in a while Eda let’s her keep some of the junk, knowing it reminds her of the familiarity of home without the painful memories attached. One of Luz’s favorite finds is a working boombox that her scroll can connect to via cable, but she mostly listens to self made albums.

She nods her head along to the heavy beats of someone called Fred Dead, while picking through the pile closest to her.

After nine grueling hours of gathering material for the shop, Luz finds something that causes her heart to stop.

An Azura doll, the same one she used to own years ago in the human world, but was abandoned with the rest of her stuff when she came through the portal.

The longer she stares at the toy in her hands the more intense the memories become.

“Cam! She needs this!” Her father shouts, his thundering voice practically shaking the house.

“Luis, she’s just a child. She’s going to grow out of this little phase.” Her mother defends, the anger evident in her calmer voice.

“Why do you always do this? She fucking can’t act like this anymore, I won’t let my daughter be a freak.” He bites back.

“Don’t you dare call our daughter a freak!” Her mother shoves her father just enough to make him take a half step backward.

“You stupid bitch!” He punches her in the face, to Luz’s horror he doesn’t stop there.

The ape of a man runs to the sink and pulls the first knife he feels and stabs Camilla over and over.

Luz watches frozen behind the doorway, only a few feet away, with her Azura doll clutched to her chest. She watches her father run out of steam, sitting on the corpse of her mother covered in more blood than she ever knew existed.

She didn’t even know she was running until a police officer told her she’s safe and to breathe.

Oh How much a lie that was, nowhere will ever feel safe again.

Luz drops the doll like it burned her, and pushes the wheelbarrow full of useless junk out of the warehouse, making sure she buries the memories away again. She doesn’t want to hear the pained screams of her mother or the vomit inducing sound of meat being sliced.

The human adjusts the red beanie on her head, the one that some people are convinced that’s cursed to be stuck to head. She then puts on her usual nonchalant attitude that gets her in more trouble than not.

Luz greets customers and fellow members of the Owl Guild, each one sporting a simple tattoo of Owlbert on their neck or hands. She is one of the few long time members without one.

She opens the door to the human thrift shop, named Exotic Human Treasures. At the counter is an overly excited human enthusiast named Gus who started working at the shop within the last year.

“Hey, my favorite human!” Gus leaps over the counter to give Luz a bear hug.

The human pats the witch on top of his messy pile of dreads,” Yo, it be me. I bring the dank shit.”

Gus throws his friend aside and starts picking through the wheelbarrow of human gold,” Yooooo! Bro, you know I love it when you bring me stuff.”

Luz shrugs and sits on the counter, watching the teen dig through the pile of junk. “There’s nine packs of unfinished cigarettes in the lunchbox tin, I think someone’s mom found little Timmy’s stash.”

Gus stops to look at Luz with watery eyes,” And this is why I love you so much. Why don’t you work here full time with me? It will be fun!”

“Fuck no. This place is too damn boring for me, no offense buddy. But I want to smash some skulls in.”

The two paused for a moment then a grin broke out over their faces, and the two shouted in unison,” Beat ass, eat ass and praise the Titan.”

They love Eda’s motto for the gang, it suits the way her leadership shaped a group of directionless misfits into the symbol it is now.

“Hey what’s wrong with your neck? Did one of the hookers get rough?” Gus snickers.

Instinctively Luz’s hand smacks her clavicle, trying to cover the fresh bite mark, but all she does is cause herself pain. The human hisses at her idiocy and glares at the witch,” No, I didn’t fuck your mom.”

Her expression turns serious, a rarity for Luz,” I got into a fight, and some crazy bitch bit me. She kept licking my blood on her lips before taking off. Gus, please tell me witches aren’t going to bleed me dry for some weird blood wine.”

At first Gus laughs at Luz for the ridiculous fear of being bled dry, but his laughter stops once he realizes that is actually a possibility.

“Oh fuck.” Gus turns pale,” Actually-“

“You fuck head! Why didn’t you say something before!” Luz grabs Gus by the front of his shirt.

“Why didn’t Eda tell you?” He defends.

“I didn’t tell her I was bit, but more importantly tell me what the fuck is wrong with my blood. I’m not trying to die yet.”

“Alright, shit. Put me down.” Luz drops her hold, urging Gus to get to the point.

“There is an old bloodline of witches that used to hunt humans, like I’m talking before the wild witch era. Those witches are the only ones who can taste the human’s humor or soul bile. The bloodlines are so old it was thought they all died out with the Titan.”

Luz rubs her face, feeling the stress build in her body,” I was bit by a Blight. The youngest one.”

“Oh you’re fucked, if the rest of the family doesn’t dine on you, she’s going to keep you as cattle.” Gus is pacing across the room at the thought of his friend being chopped up for a stew.

“Okay! Look, we don’t know enough right? Who is smart that can tell us more, who won’t snitch to Eda?”

“Willow.” The two say in unison.

Luz sprints down the street, dodging the other creatures who inhabit the Isles. She kicks the door open to the apothecary and shoves a customer to the side. “Willow! I’m fucked!”

Willow smiles mischievously, adjusting her glasses with her middle finger,” Oh yeah? As in you got laid or Eda is about to fuck you up?”

Luz pauses, not sure where this particular problem lies on the scale. “Third option?” She shrugs.

The witch in the yellow trench coat continues her transaction with the customer like nothing has happened. Once the customer quickly shuffles out the door, Willow slaps Luz.

“Speak.”

Luz repeats the exact conversation she had with Gus moments ago, much to Willow’s dismay.

“A Blight? Huh, I guess that’s possible Amity takes after Grandfather more than her parents. I think he had trophies from his glory days of hunting humans.”

“Please tell me you’re fucking with me.” Luz begs.

“For once I’m being serious. I’m sure Amity is the only living Blight with the trait, no one else in her family seemed to care for the human realm. Her Grandfather was a human fanatic, he spent most of his life studying their anatomy.”

Luz feels sick, she doesn’t want to be carved open for study or eaten by some gang rival.

Willow continues with the one sided conversation,” I wouldn’t worry too much. Gus is the only one who’s taken interest in humans in fifty years and if it comes down to it we can kill Amity. Easy.”

Yeah, easy.

“Becoming the head of Blight Industries would be easy! But nooo! Some human had to fuck it all up!” Amity throws the book in her hand at the wall of her secret room. She’s in the library searching for anything on human blood and dear Titan the books never seem to end.

Though seeing the same author for each new title peaks her curiosity, especially since it’s her disgraced grandfather.

The one, the only, Bernard Blight, the human lover.

Amity remembers what she had for breakfast last week better than her grandfather. Every time she closes her eyes, trying to recall anything about the elder she sees the mantel above the fireplace full of skulls.

Being such a young age Amity never thought anything about the strange decorations. She just thought it was something that other rich people had in their mansions.

The prodigy picks another book from the stack and settles into her bean bag. She skips the first twenty pages or so into the book and begins reading.

Within the first paragraph Amity realizes the book is a diary rather than an anthropology textbook like the others.

I don’t understand. Where does this debris come from? The longer I walk along the beach shore, the more foreign objects keep appearing.

I pride myself on being an intelligent man, I am a Blight after all.

And of course the head of the unparalleled Blight Industries.

Amity smiles, her family has always seemed to have an air of arrogance surrounding them. Now she sees exactly where her mother got her inflated ego from.

I don’t know where to begin.

It’s been a week since I dropped off the strange object with Dr. Eugene at Hexford University. Much to my dismay, it isn’t from the days of the Titan.

I was hoping to sell it to some idiot collector…well I suppose I still can.

The doctor explained the wooden board is some sort of human relic, primarily used as a portal to different worlds.

Amity’s heart races, wondering if this is how human with the red beanie stumbled into the Demon Realm. She skips ahead a few more pages, hoping to cut to the chase.

Martha is suspicious of my activities in the Human Realm.

She has every right to be furious. I haven’t been a faithful husband to her.

For some strange reason, I’m not sorry for my actions. I met someone while hunting, she has shown me the beauty behind each sunset. She accepts my ancestry as a blood harvester and takes part in the hunt.

I’ve hid the human relic in the attic, but I think it’s safer with Alador.

Amity holds the page in shock, she never knew about this scandal.

“Fuck.” The witch sinks further into the bean bag, knowing this is the reason behind his disappearance.

She marks the page and sets the book down, not any closer to the reason why the Owl Lady’s pet tasted so sweet.

Amity knows she’s going to look for that human portal, even if it evokes her mother’s wrath.

Luz on the other hand, has evoked Eda’s wrath this time.

The elder is picking glass shards from her hand, she doesn’t understand why Luz chose to tell her bad news while she is drinking.

“So baby Blight is a human hunter.”

“She seemed just as confused as me.” Luz chimes in while sweeping the glass off the floor. “If she was a hunter, she’s a shitty one. She couldn’t even kill me. I’m practically a walking OSHA hazard!”

Eda snorts, but quickly returns to her standard resting bitch face. “I’ve been bouncing this idea around to the boys in the lab, we do have the resources to expand our customer pool.”

Luz, now done handling the glass shards, gives the leader her full attention. Eda usually starts sounding serious when the next plan of action is something risky, and Luz wants in.

“We might even be able to cash in more than the Emperor’s Coven, if this goes without a hitch.” Eda holds up a small stack of papers. “I’m not filling this shit out.”

She hands the stack to Luz, who reads the first line and quirks an bushy eyebrow at the elder. “You’re sending me to college?”

Eda cackles like the witch she is and waits for her apprentice to link two and two together.

“Oh you sneaky bitch, you’re having me sell to the students.” Luz smirks at the evil genius.

Eda juts out her hip and strikes a pose,“Damn right, I’m not on the most wanted list for knitting sweaters. Besides, it’s now on the list for neutral zones.”

“Wow, all of a sudden school is just as important as a temple or a hospital?”

“Like I said kid, eat ass, beat ass, and praise Titan.” Eda breaks out her signature figure guns. “And for obvious reasons I need to remind you to behave.

“What part of ‘walking fire magnet’ don’t you understand?” Luz playfully rolls her eyes.

“Seriously kid, I need you to be stronger and use your head.” Fear briefly flashes in Eda’s eyes.

Luz fully understands the reason behind the new job assignment, Eda is getting her ready to take over the Owl Guild.

The two part ways and Luz marches to her room, now more determined than ever.

She pulls out her sketchbook and opens it to the most recent page. Luz uncaps a sharpie and carefully recreates the design on her forearm. The human is satisfied with the result and excited to move on to the next step of her crazy plan.

She removes the stopper from a small glass bottle, the concoction is darker than the starless sky in the Demon Realm. Luz pulls out a tool, a needle taped to the eraser end of a pencil with string wrapped tightly around said needle.

Luz says a prayer to the Titan, she asks if he can keep Eda from strangling her to death for what she is about to do.

She takes a deep breath and begins the tedious task of stabbing herself thousands of times, following the sharpie outline.

Luz yawns, she feels like someone tossed her in a pile of time sand and time refuses to move forward. Her forearm is clear evidence time is working as it should.

The outline of the four main glyphs are connected by a thin black line, creating a diamond like shape.

Content with her work, Luz cleans her arm and wipes down her desk.

Suddenly her door is kicked open.

“Boo!” King shouts. “Hah! You should’ve seen your face. Pay up Eda!”

King looks at the human, who looks like she’s seen a feral death spitter. He turns in time to witness Eda, the excitement turning to unbridled fury.

Luz shrieks in fear, there’s only one way out and it’s blocked by her pissed off parent.

King shrugs,” Eh, I still think I got her biggest jump scare.”

The last of the boiling rain fell days ago, causing Bonesborough to cool to a comfortable temperature. Luz can wear her beanie without dehydrating to death.

The timing couldn’t be better, after Eda tore her a new asshole for her tattoo, the elder made her dumpster dive in five trash slugs. Luz is sure she won’t feel clean ever again.

When Luz thought she was out of the dog house, Eda tossed her one more punishment.

“Hey Luz over here!” Gus excitedly waves by the gates of Hexford University.

Willow is the polar opposite of her friend, she looks like she would rather be six feet under. The plant track witch snuffs out her cigarette on the bottom of her black boot and crosses her arms in annoyance.

“Hey guys.” Luz turns to Willow, offering a proverbial olive branch. “Sorry you got roped into watching me.”

“Eh, it could be worse. You’re like that idiot who wants to stick their tongue on a frozen pole. You’re like oh man I should really stop her, but at the same time you want to see what happens.” Willow pushes her glasses, the sun perfectly reflecting off of her frames.

Luz wonders if she actively practices to look like an anime villain.

“Damn girl, you got no chill.” Gus whistles.

The three Owl Guild members stroll to the quad, with every intention to get the student body high.

Luz uses a mixture of her roguish charm and sleight of hand to rack in more snails. Gus has decided to get in on the action while Willow sits under a tree and smokes another cigarette.

Taking a step back, Willow sees that Luz is capable of doing her job…she just has a mean streak. Well, Luz in her opinion is still a walking train wreck.

“Hey cutie.” A student with long braided hair, Blight green hair, slides her hand down Luz’s arm.

The human’s cheeks brighten to the same shade of red as her beanie, she’s not used to someone being so forward. Not one to let someone so easily throw her off her game, Luz smirks back.

“Oh what’s this ‘Em? A new play thing?” A male copy of the woman, slides his arm over Luz’s shoulder.

Luz knows a delinquent when she sees one, she feels a twinge of fear in the pit of her stomach. She doesn’t like where this situation is moving, not that she minds being touched by attractive people.

“Hm. Where are our manners Ed?” The woman’s hand lingers on Luz’s tattoo, her smile is as dangerous as it is sexy.

The handsome man snickers,” I think we left our manners at home. I’m Edric and she’s Emira. What’s your name, cutie pie? Or should we call you ‘Daddy’?”

The one named Edric points at Luz’s black shirt with the word ‘Daddy’ printed across her chest.

In comic sans.

Luz regrets nothing, after her run in with Amity, she begrudgingly parted ways with her purple and white striped shirt. Hell, she doesn’t care she has ten more of the same shirt! That’s her favorite shirt damn it!

Eda tossed this shirt at her while she was brushing her teeth this morning, while running late, as usual. The elder shouted something along the lines of, ‘Update your wardrobe’ and ‘stop looking like a gay disaster’.

In hindsight, Luz should’ve looked at the shirt before leaving the house.

Willow leaps from her spot under the tree and gestures to Gus, a silent ‘Luz found trouble’. The plant track witch marches over, with her cigarette crushed firmly between her lips while her hands are stuffed deep in her pockets. Willow’s fingertips brush against a red bladed pocket knife, ready to spring into action.

Luz holds eye contact with Willow, as she begins to open her mouth to flirt back with the twins, a shrill, annoying voice cock blocks her.

“What the fuck are you doing here?”

Luz turns her head and laughs at the situation, she looks a like fuck boy caught red handed with other people.

“Ah it’s you. Have you come to apologize?” Luz brushes the twins off of her and gives the youngest Blight her full attention, ready to antagonize a fight.

Now standing inches away from the annoying human, Amity stomps her foot on the ground. She has to tilt her head upward to hold eye contact with Luz. “No, you fucking tree. I didn’t think they made humans as tall as they are stupid.”

Luz tilts her head down, her lips dangerously close to the angry witch’s. “So, you came to invite me to dinner, how sweet of you. I’m feeling Raising Bane’s fried Basan.”

Of course the young witch happens to notice how attractive the human is, now that the two are in the daylight. To her dismay, the strong scent pouring from her gang rival stirs something inside of her. The conflicting feelings of wanting to claw the human’s eyes out and rub her face all over her rival's body overwhelms the witch.

Amity turns a bright shade of pink, none of the on lookers are sure if her colored cheeks are from rage or from the growing sexual tension.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here? The elitist Blight children socializing with the lowly Owl guild, wow, I’m sure your parents would be sooo disappointed.” The young man blonde with red eyes walks in a circle around the two enemies on the verge of killing or fucking each other.

“Hey Hunter!” Luz moves to throw an arm around Amity’s shoulder, like the two are childhood friends. “I’m guessing you're still pissed. Wait, I know that look!”

Hunter growls at the insolent human. “Yeah you’re really pissed! Eda gives me that look.” Luz sighs happily, playing the dumb bitch role a little too well.

The second in command for the Emperor's Coven stares at Luz with disdain, knowing it’s her fault that the two won’t be working together. It’s this stupid human’s fault they won’t be able to topple over the industrialists next to them.

Hunter narrows his eyes, now highly suspicious of the way Luz has her arm almost protectively around Amity. He should report this back to his father, but he has his own problems with a certain Raven lady to deal with.

Amity cuts in, now wanting out of this incredibly stressful situation,“It’s been nice chatting with you Hunter but I have class.” She pauses,” We should sit down and talk about the future. The three of us.”

Luz chuckles,” Yeah, definitely. So where are we going Amity? To the science hall for a little anatomy class?”

Amity grabs Luz by the wrist, in one swift action, she twists said arm behind Luz’s back, causing her to groan in pain.

“I will kill you.” Amity’s chest is pressed firmly against Luz’s back with her arm pinned between them.

The overwhelming lustful urges return from their proximity, and Amity can’t resist deeply inhaling Luz’s sickly sweet musk.

“Uh. Did you just sniff me?”

Snapping out of her lusty haze, the witch shoves the annoying human into Gus. “Get the fuck away from me.”

The Owl Guild member cheerfully waves at the prodigy who is walking away with her siblings,” Okay I’ll pick you up at your house. Let’s say oh…eight o’clock?”

Amity throws a middle finger in the air and continues to the abomination building.

The delinquent chuckles and holds up three wallets, each one made from a very expensive leather.

“Did you?” Willow takes the wallets, opening them to see they in fact belong to the Blight siblings. Each wallet contains at least a thousand beetle bills, and their IDs.

Luz snorts,” Yeah, good luck trying to get into the library now.”

“As much as I’d love to keep swindling people out of their hard earned money, I think we should actually attend our classes.” Willow murmurs while pulling the cold hard cash out of the wallets and handing them back to Luz.

Gus pulls out his scroll and opens the trio’s schedule, he should’ve guessed Luz was the one to pick the classes.

“Intro to Bard theory? Abomination chemistry? Greenhouse maintenance 1301? Luz, what the fuck are these classes?” The youngest witch throws his hands in the air.

Luz’s shoulders slowly shrug,” I don’t know what track I want to study, so I picked a little of everything.”

“You’re a fucking idiot and you dragged me into this. I hope you stub your toe on every coffee table.” Willow says like a monster has just sucked out her soul, she grabs Luz by the ear and drags her to class.

“And if that’s everyone, we can get started with class. Today we-“ The professor is interrupted by Luz being physically tossed into the door like she’s in a wrestling ring.

The human scrambles to her feet, acting like being thrown by Willow is how she enters every room.

The professor nervously picks at their cuticles, their rehearsed script is now thrown off and their stage fright is returning. “Uh. Um. Hello? Please take a seat.”

Luz holds up an excited thumbs up,” Sure thing teach!”

The professor gulps and adjusts their glasses,” It’s professor, professor Whispers.”

The trio sit next to each other in the nearly empty lecture theater, and for once Luz is a model student with her two sheets of loose paper and a single pen. Even Willow is surprised at the human’s hunger for knowledge, she’s heard from Eda her apprentice has always been in the detention track due to her attitude.

Well, beating the shit out of other students with a baseball bat for looking at her wrong, tends to do that.

“Don’t forget to purchase a textbook if you haven’t already. See you all in the next class.” The professor dismisses the class, pointing to Luz,” I need to have a word with you.”

Willow and Gus look at each other wondering if this is about their grand entrance in the beginning of class. Luz assures her friends she can handle a nerd, and sends them out of the room.

“So, what’s up?” Luz leans against the desk closest to where the professor is standing, seeing how anxious the adult twice her age is more nervous than herself.

“Your arm, I’ve only seen summoning circles like those once before. Where did you get that from?” The professor inquires, somewhat more confident once the conversation has started.

“Pfft? Summoning circles? These are glyphs.” Luz proudly brags, showing off her tattoo like a badge of honor. “I found these while observing nature, Eda says it’s how the wild witches used to do magic.”

Professor Whispers’ face turns a light shade of pink at the mention of the infamous gang leader. “You know Eda Clawthorn?”

Luz rolls her eyes, everyone knows the human was unofficially adopted by Eda, it’s a hard fact like how the boiling ocean turns a shade of purple during the winter. It’s strange for someone not to know who she is.

“Yeah, Eda is my parent and my boss.”

The professor’s lips pursed together in a thin line,”Ah, tell her I said hello.”

The troublemaker pulls her scroll out and tosses it at the educator,” Say it yourself.”

“Hello? Luz, I swear to Titan if you got yourself arrested again, I’m letting you stay the night in jail.” The exhausted voice of Eda sighs.

“Um…Hi?” The professor starts awkwardly. “It’s been awhile Eda.”

“Dear Titan, Raine you’re so fucking awkward it’s causing me physical pain, how can you function being so gay?” Eda teases, glass is being shattered in the background with a car alarm going off. “I hate to cut this short Rainedrop but mama is in the middle of work, come visit the Owl House sometime.”

Eda hangs up before Raine can get another word in, it might be for the best, if they talk any longer, Luz will feel like she’s being held at gunpoint.

“You guys fucked or something?” Luz grins, she loves learning about Eda’s life before creating the Owl Guild.

“Uh, well…we used to date.” Raine rubs the back of their neck, the blush turning a darker shade.

“Oh I get it, so who broke off the engagement?” The apprentice snaps her fingers, glad she rolled a seventeen in perception for life.

The professor waves her off, clearly not wanting to continue with the subject,” I have another class soon, you should leave.”

Luz shrugs,”Mmm, so it was you. Well seeya teach!”

“Professor.”

Later that evening, Luz is dancing in front of a fenced house, with a can of spray paint in her hand, living her best life. She practically jumps out of her socks when she hears the squeaking of the gate opening.

“What the fuck are you doing?”

“Hey Amity! I was waiting for you to take me to dinner!” Luz replies, tossing the empty spray can into the bushes.

The witch slowly turns her head to the fence, she frowns deeper at the sight of ‘U Suk’ graffitied across the once white fence.

Amity rubs her temples, wishing she never met this annoying human, but at the same time she can’t physically resist her.

“How do you know where I live?” Amity crosses her arms protectively across her chest, and Luz now enjoying the sight of Amity’s breasts squished together.

“Pfft, everyone knows where the Blights live. You guys have owned this plot of land since the founding of Bonesborough.” Luz playfully smiles, her eyes still focusing on the ‘prize’.

Amity quirks a perfectly plucked eyebrow, genuinely curious,” Really?”

“Nah, I’m fucking with you. I still got this.” The mischievous human holds up Amity’s wallet. “It has your ID inside.”

The witch sees red from the building anger,” Give. That. Back.”

Luz teases her, sliding the wallet in her back pocket,” Not until we go to dinner, you owe me for my shirt.”

At this point Amity is willing to do anything to get rid of the asshole before her mother finds the two interacting.

She relents,” Fine. I’m driving, and don’t you dare touch anything.”

Luz rolls her eyes, of course the Blights would own one of the nine cars that exists on the Boiling Isles. She stands by the gate, plotting how to make the Blight lose her cool in public when the luxury car pulls up.

The Owl Guild member snickers at the shining red rims, the same ones the Realm Porters stole from the human world months ago.

Unbelievably Luz acts like a decent human being, she doesn’t allow her urge to be chaotic take over during dinner. She even pays for dinner… with the money she stole from Amity’s wallet, but she did pay!

As much as the youngest Blight would hate to admit it, her rival was the perfect gentleman. Which brings her to the big question, does she hate the human because she’s the enemy?

Amity really enjoyed dinner, she loved how easy topics flow between the two and how devastatingly charming Luz can be. She feels something new, it’s not quite lust, but it’s something she can’t put words to, at least not yet.

She sticks her hand in her pocket to pull out her scroll, but feels a piece of paper she doesn’t remember having. Amity unfolds the mysterious paper and rolls her eyes, she expects nothing less from Luz.

The note reads,‘Thanks for the awesome date, send nudes. K Thx.’ Followed by the human’s number.

She would be lying if the thought of the human sending her spicy pictures didn’t make her drool.
The young witch scrubs her face frustrated that she has another problem to deal with on top of her family.

Amity waits until most of the staff leaves home for the day before sneaking into the basement, to continue her search for the illusive portal. She knows the magical item would be buried in a place where her mother wouldn’t ever dare look.

Climbing on another shelf, Amity face palms, wondering why she didn’t check the boxes labeled ‘Kids baby pictures’. Though she found what she’s looking for, finding it in this box raises a new type of insecurity in herself.

Her diary is going to do some emotional heavy lifting tonight.

Amity sits on the dusty basement floor, with the ancient wooden board staring back at her. She turns the pages in her grandfather’s diary to the section of how to use the portal. The witch has far surpassed her peers and achieved feats like none other in her lifetime, but this…this stupid board has her stumped.

In her frustration she picks up the board, ready to fling it into the nearest wall, but that’s when she made her big breakthrough. On the bottom of the board is a plastic heart shaped piece with a hole through the middle. She stares between the book and the flat plastic heart, now things are clicking.

Amity takes a deep breath, knowing there’s no going back now, but she needs to know. Maybe there’s a small part of her that hopes this damned thing doesn’t work or explodes after using so she doesn’t have to deal with the sins of her family.

The witch places the plastic heart on the board, on the painted section labeled ‘Hello’, then repeats the words written in her grandfather’s diary.

“If you can hear me, open the portal, we must contact.”

The room suddenly drops in temperature, and the plastic heart moves on its own, spelling out ‘As you wish’. Amity scoots away from the seemingly cursed item, summoning a pink fireball to her hand, wondering if possibly being murdered in a dusty basement is worth it.

The young Blight’s breath hitches at the sight of a dark mist looming over the wooden board, as terrifying as the ghostly being is, it’s not moving from the spot.

“It seems you found my diary.” The distorted shadow speaks.

Amity’s eyes widened in shock at the identity of the figure,“Grandfather? What’s happening? Where is the portal?”

The shadow chuckles sadly, possibly remembering their time on this plane of existence. “You must be Emira or Amity. You look just like your mother.”

The young witch cringes, hating being compared to her mother in any way. “I’m Amity, I found your diary in the local library and it said something about a portal to the human world.”

Her undead elder swoops down over the book, as if to examine it, “The portal? Right.” The shadow returns to float over the wooden board. “This is a board the humans use for summoning the dead, the real portal is a door, but why do you want to travel so badly?” Her grandfather circles around the young witch,” Unless you’re a Blood Harvester and you had your first taste.”

Amity blushes at the memory of digging her teeth into the human’s flesh.

“I closed the portal.”

“Why?” The young witch inquires.

“Hm, to put simply, we over hunted the humans, and they fought back.” If the apparition could, he would’ve stroked his long beard. “I thought I was the last Harvester after the siege.”

Amity’s heart is beating loudly in her ears, she has the unfortunate luck of carrying on the curse of her ancestors.

“It was truly a tragic event, so many bloodlines vanished that day.” The shadow reminisces. “I wonder how a human crossed over, well, that’s not important.” The shadow waved it’s hand, “I know you aren’t going to stop now that you’ve had your first human, but heed my warning little one, don’t let Odalia know what you are. Do. Not. Over. Harvest.”

The dark mist slowly evaporates, but not before the pages of the diary flutter open to a specific page.

“Goodnight little Blight.”

Chapter Text

Hunter wipes his sweaty palms on his suit jacket, the clothing costing more than a thousand snails. He has been hyping himself up for this conversation with his father for weeks.

He’s going to take his rightful place at the head of the coven, fuck the consequences.

“Young master.”

Hunter turns on his heel to face his least favorite mentor, Lilith. Oh she is the first one to go when he takes charge, then the treacherous Owl Lady, she must pay for letting the human off of her leash.

“Lilith.” Hunter states curtly, his nose turned upward, his elitism on full display.

He learns from the best.

“Master Belos requests your presence in the War room. He’s not pleased with the way you’ve been ordering the foot soldiers around.” Lilith folds her hands neatly in front of her, her facial features are unreadable.

The gang’s lieutenant bows to the honorable Advisor, “Of course Lilith. Please postpone training for the time being.”

Once Belos’ right hand is out of sight, Hunter growls and kicks over the precious vase. He’s going to take his time killing that bitch.

Hunter enters the War room like he owns it, in his humble opinion he should. He then half bows to the Emperor’s Coven leader, “Emperor, you requested me?”

The two men are practically clones of each other, if one saw a picture of Belos in his youth, he would easily be mistaken for Hunter. The similarities end there, the younger of the two is very hot headed and heavy handed when it comes to leading.

The leader doesn’t allow his son to take a seat before chastising him for his ruthlessness. “This coven wasn’t built overnight, Hunter, and it wasn’t built alone. If we create an alliance with the Owl Guild, we would have access to unimaginable power. Remember what our end goal is?”

Hunter restrains himself from rolling his eyes at the old coot, “Yes I do, but I still think the Owl Guild is still too unreliable, especially Eda.”

Belos shakes his head, his naïve son still not seeing the whole picture. “She was and still is an asset we can use.”

The gang’s Lieutenant loses his composure and slams his fist on the table, knocking over some figurines on a map of Bonesborough.

“Look at what that rebel did! She left us and took our best cooks!”

Belos stands from his chair, his deep set wrinkles now looking more dramatic with the lighting of the room. “Enough. You’re still not ready, child.”

Hunter adjusts his suit, combing his blonde hair back into place. “Fine, but you’re a foolish old man. Times are changing faster than you can keep up.”

The young witch storms out of the War room and into his penthouse of a room at the far end of the mansion. He shifts through documents forecasting the eventual fall of the old money machine, Blight Industries.

Hunter shifts between that sheet and the one forecasting the younger Emperor's Coven is next to control the Boiling Isles. He grins happily at the last sheet that spells out the baby street rats of the Owl Guild won’t survive to the summer.

The Lieutenant puts his full faith in the highly renowned Oracles who are supplying these reports. He rubs his hands together with excitement, ready for the less than forty year old gang to become the only one ruling the land.

Back in the War room, Belos and Lilith have been discussing the next plan of action,“I fear my son has allowed his bias to cloud his judgment, Lilith.”

The Advisor nods along, clearly seeing the boy isn’t ready to dive any deeper into the politics. “We can schedule him for more combat training and possibly pull him out of college to keep an eye on him.”

The Emperor waves off the ridiculous idea, as much as he would love to keep his boy at home. “It will have the opposite effect with Hunter, he would rebel like Eda, if we push too hard he might make a new criminal empire stronger than ours.”

Lilith frowns at the mention of her traitor sister, some days wishing she died to the curse so she wouldn’t have to deal with the thorn in her side that is the Owl Guild.

The Advisor won’t dare betray her coven, even if that meant sacrificing her life. Though she had lost a pinky in a little over twenty years of honorable service.

“We continue with the original plan, and in the meantime, for the love of Titan, can someone kidnap a proper girl? We can’t keep giving our customers dirty prostitutes. This is a trafficking ring not a hooker re-homing service.”

Lilith takes the note down, ‘Kill Bauer and find better girls’. “Yes master Belos, I’ll fix the problem right away.”

Hunter is ready to fix his problem right away, and that starts with Lilith.

The Lieutenant gathers his loyal brothers in the foyer, he stands tall in his knight armor at the top of the stairs, the witch is willing to the unspeakable to his own family for this power grab.

“Brothers of the Emperor's Coven, we are gathered here tonight to march in the new era. I am here to tell you what to do, grab those swords and retake the throne. No survivors, we feed them to the Titan on the altar.” Despite wearing a helmet, the follower of Hunter can feel his evil grin, and this encourages the crowd.

The ‘new age’ gang members storm the castle-like mansion, ready to carry out their task like they were on a personal mission from the Titan. They hack and slash at the surprised minions of Belos, the home will have a fresh coat of red staining the walls before the evening is over.

“I expected better from you Hunter, but I can’t say that I’m surprised.” Lilith twirls her staff, ready to beat this snot nosed child’s ass. “I’ve been wanting to cave your head in with my palisman for far too long.”

Hunter holds his artificial staff by his side, like he isn’t going to use magic against his mentor. “Likewise, but I have something special just. For. You.” He unravels a scroll with a broken owl seal, “You should’ve burned this while you had a chance, but then again, why would you? Hell, I would’ve kept a trophy from cursing my sister too.”

Lilith draws a circle with her staff, causing the floor under Hunter’s feet to cave in, then she draws another circle with her finger, sending a ball of blue fire at the traitor.

Hunter easily dodges both attacks and returns with shooting a streak of red energy at Lilith’s feet, as predicted, she rolls right into the scroll in his hand.

A bright light encases the Advisor, and she falls to her knees, slowly shifting into a raven beast, much like the one she turned Eda into years ago.

“Oh calm down, aren’t you scared now? Remember?” Hunter laughs like he’s the devil and he just got Lilith to sign her soul over to him. He shoves his steel toe boot in her deformed face, having his fun before crushing her skull like he’s always dreamed of.

“Hunter!” Belos grows, cutting the younger witch’s fun short.

“Hiya pop! Remember when you said if you want something, I should take it? Well, I’m taking the throne from you, and putting your head on a pike for the Owl Lady to see.”

The elder’s face is red with rage, but he knows he’s far past his prime, not in any shape to challenge his son,“You sick little fuck, your mother should have swallowed you.”

Hunter laughs, tossing his helmet to the side, now he wants his father to stare him in the eye as he decapitates him. “Wow, such a rude comment. Are you sure that’s what you want to say as your final words?”

Belos summons an abomination behind the traitor to hold him in place, but Hunter ducks and casts a huge icicle from the ground to impale his father.

The son uses his superior speed to slam his boot on Belos’ foot to hold him in place as he electrocutes the older man.

The elder eats the attack like someone playfully smacked his chest, he then counters by growing plants to hold the young witch.

Hunter smiles wickedly at the challenge presented to him, he twirls his staff and uses the sharp wing to cut himself free then creates two solid illusions of himself. He sends the illusions to take pot shots at the old man as he casts a bubble to encase himself in.

Belos blinds both illusions with a bright beam of light, causing them to poof out of existence. The older witch calls upon the Titan to lend him more energy, the situation becoming more dire by the moment.

Hunter takes the distraction to pop the bubble and dash behind Belos, throwing a mob of vines at his feet. An abomination materializes in front of the elder, holding him tight for the next wave of the assault.

The Lieutenant punches the gang leader in the stomach with his steel gauntlets, taking satisfaction in the leader’s pain. He’s ready to take his rightful place at the throne with a crown decorated with the bones of his foes.

Hunter unsheathes the dagger hidden under his cloak and drives it in Belos’ bile sack.

“You’ll never be the man I am.” Belos gurgles.

Hunter smirks, his hair has fallen in his face, making him look wildly disheveled. “You’re right, I'm twice the man you are.”

The new leader pulls the dagger from his predecessor’s chest and decapitates the man with one swipe.

Blood caking his hair, Hunter holds up the lifeless head of Belos to the large crowd of war torn men who cheer on their new leader. They choose to ignore the unhinged look in the new leader’s eyes.

Hunter snaps the Emperor's Coven flagpole from the mount and shoves Belos’ head on the pointed end. The crowd follows the young witch to the front yard, and watches in excitement as He stabs the pole into the dirt.

Hunter turns to his new army of thugs, he raises his fist in the air, like he’s going to have his cake and eat it too.

"I’m the leader now!”

Chapter Text

Luz dances the whole way home, not minding she has to walk over an hour to get across the city to the slums.

In her mind she just had a date with a Blight, who wouldn’t be a cocky bastard?

The human opens the door to the mostly empty bar, hey people still have depression to drown on Mondays.

She notices her Bard professor is laughing at either something Eda said or just at Eda herself.

“Then she gets caught on the top of the fence!” Eda laughs harder.

“Yeah, yeah. When are you going to stop telling that story?” Luz interrupts her parent from retelling another embarrassing story.

“Hah! Never, that shit was funny. Right Rainebow?” Eda nudges her ex.

The professor, seemingly void of social anxiety smiles mischievously,” Oh you want to hear an embarrassing story? One time Eda thought she could contact the Titan and-“

Eda’s hand snaps over Raine’s mouth, she doesn’t want to relive that moment again. Not ever.

Luz leans on the bar, happy the two are rekindling their old flame, she’s never seen Eda with hearts in her eyes. “Is that why Eda’s tattoo is backwards?”

“You haven’t opened your third eye yet, so it looks backwards to you heathens.” Eda corrects her apprentice. “Speaking of heathens, where were you? I had to send the King of whining to do your drop.”

“Be nice.” Raine chastises.

“Oh you want to talk about nice? So one time when we were in high school, a girl was feeling me up and Raine over here snapped her wrist.”

Raine blushes deeply and looks away from the others,”Eda…”

The gang leader takes a long sip of her beer before continuing,”Don’t let this one fool you, they were in the delinquent track with me.” Looking over at her ex partner with love in her eyes, she decides to have mercy. “Anyways you were about to tell me the damn good excuse as to why you made the King of babies take your drop.”

Luz motions for the two adults to lean in for this juicy bit of information. “I was on a date with a Blight.”

Eda snorts and smacks her knee,”Hah! Yeah right, just say you were out drinking with your friends. You know my policy for staying here.”

Luz rolls her eyes,”Don’t come home, drunk, high, or get a girl pregnant…I’m still sure the last one doesn’t apply to me.”

“It didn’t apply to me either but, it’s the famous Clawthorn motto.” Eda points at the plaque above the doorway.

Eda has a lot of mottos hanging around her bar.

Raine however believes Luz’s story is genuine,”Ignore her, she’s still bitter. How was your date?”

The human rubs her chin in deep thought, carefully picking her words before speaking. “It was really nice.” She omits mentioning how clingy Amity was acting.

The witch does want to lather her hands in the human’s blood.

“We even talked about the new Azura movie, she’s actually a really big fucking nerd.”

Luz’s scrolls decided to chime at that exact moment, the timing couldn’t have been better. it’s Amity, replying to her earlier text message.

Peach Princess: Here use this one

The human opens the photo attachment and grins wickedly at the selfie of the witch, in what she assumes is her pajamas. Luz is definitely going to use that information to spice up the conversation.

Peach Princess: Don’t you dare photoshop it

FukBoi69: Bet

Peach Princess: You fuck! I’m blocking you!

FukBoi69: Awwww! Then you can’t see the contact pic I’m sending you! ;)

Luz smiles at her scroll, she has the Blight practically melting in her hands.

The apprentice taps on the selfie and zooms in, trying to keep Eda’s nosie ass out of her messages. She holds up the scroll for both adults to see the evidence of her supposed date.

Eda chokes on the beer she is in the middle of drinking. “Wait! Wait the fuck up! You went on a date with baby Blight?” Eda cackles, holding her sides. “Odalia…oh! She’s gonna be so pissed!”

“Rude.” Raine smacks Eda’s arm playfully.

A lightbulb pops up above the Owl Guild leader’s head, oh this is the best idea she’s had all week and that’s saying something.

“We can make this work in our favor.” Eda reaches over the bar and grasps Luz’s shoulders, staring deeply into her eyes.

“I need you to fuck her.”

“You got it boss.” Luz firmly salutes.

Raine on the other hand is having a moral crisis from what they just heard. “What do you mean? Luz fuck her! Eda!”

The chaotic leader lets her hands fall and swats at her ex. “Hush, this is a great idea. Think about it, if we can’t get Belos to form an alliance with us, bed a Blight! Odalia would have to agree!” Eda steps away from the bar and gives her ‘audience’ a half bow. “Thank you! Thank you! No need to applaud my genius.”

Raine shoves their face in their hands, slowly shaking their head at the hopeless idiot. They would know an idiot when they see one, they’re an educator after all.

“What if having a relationship with Luz pisses Odalia off? What if she has Luz killed?” Raine tries to insert logic into the situation, but it’s a three percent chance of being heard.

“Nah, nothing could possibly go wrong, besides.” Eda points at another golden plaque, this one behind the bar, above the liquor display. “Luz has to take one for the team, it’s the ‘eat ass’ part of the creed.”

“Remind me to fire your sign guy.” Raine quips.

“Do I get a say in this?” Luz chimes in.

“Yes.”

“Fuck no.”

The two exes glare at each other.

“I was going to say I’m in. This is for the greater good of the Guild.” Luz tries horribly to hide her cheeky smile.

Eda is the first to break eye contact with Raine, costing her to lose the staring contest. “Hah! You just want her Blight booty.”

“Maybe-“

The door to the Owl House Bar is kicked open by King, who is supporting Lilith.

The former Emperor's Coven member is bloodied with black feathers sticking to her. She looks like someone tried to tar and feather her but it went horribly wrong.

Eda, finding the humor in any bleak situation, is now rolling on the floor laughing at her sister. “Look…look what…Hah! What the cat dragged in.”

“I’m not a cat RRRREEEEEEEE!” King screeches, dropping Lilith in the act, scampering off to his dog bed in the corner, he looks ridiculous laying on the tiny thing.

Raine rubs their temples, now remembering how bat shit crazy things become when hanging out with Eda. This woman literally has no chill, everything around her goes from zero to a hundred.

“Shou- should we help her?” Luz asks, now curiously hovering over the cursed woman, poking at the feathers protruding from Lilith’s head.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, Eda cha chas over to her cursed sister with an orange elixir. “This is the best day of my life. I get back with my ex-“

Raine rolls their eyes,”We’re not together.”

“My apprentice is growing up, and my sister has come back crawling on her knees, cursed!” Eda hands Lilith the elixir and returns to lean heavily on Raine, as if to non-verbally say ‘we’re together’.

Lilith shamefully chugs the liquid cure like she’s been wandering the desert for years without a drop of water. “Go ahead, rub it in my face, Edalyn. You won’t be celebrating for long.”

The threat causes the room to become awkwardly silent, so awkward, Raine feels it.

“Nope, I’m out.” King scampers to the basement to sleep in Luz’s bed, he doesn’t deal well with bad vibes.

“Pussy!” Eda calls after the cowardly demon, she then strides over to her traitorous sister and pulls her to her feet by the destroyed collar of her dress. “Now, you’re going to tell me everything I want to know”

Luz taps the professor on the shoulder, knowing Eda is about to get violent here in the next few moments and rather Raine not witness anything damaging. “Hey, you should go. I’ll have Eda call you later. Be safe.”

“Everyone out!” Eda shouts, and the usual paytrions of the bar quickly dash out the door, not wanting to feel the Owl Lady’s wrath.

Eda now turns her attention back to her sister,” I’m not waiting all day! Spill it!”

“Belos is dead.”

The three sit for hours, discussing the intricacies of the new gang leadership, which doesn’t look good for the Owl Guild.

“We can make this work.” Luz’s optimism shines through. “We can protect ourselves with the help of the Blights.”

“You have a deal with the Blights? Is this why the deal never cleared for us?” Lilith asks while picking feathers from her destroyed dress, under her cool exterior she’s boiling with rage.

“Not exactly. I’m going to date Amity Blight to get her in an alliance with us.” Luz scratches the back of her head, now that she says it out loud, the idea is starting to sound a bit…half cooked.

Lilith narrows her eyes at her younger sister, this sounds like one of Eda’s terrible ideas. “I’m going to pretend like I didn’t hear that.” She points to Eda,”You’re going to keep an eye on Hunter. Make sure this little ‘tantrum’ of his doesn’t spread, and don’t let any other low tier street thugs get the same idea.”

She then points at Luz, a vein visibly throbbing from her forehead,” And you! Stay the fuck away from the Blights! The last thing we need is for Odalia to send out a hit squad because you slept with her daughter.”

Eda clears her throat,”You have a lot to say for someone who cursed me. Why Shouldn’t I throw you to the Coven guards, I bet they’ll pay top snail for your capture.”

“Belos couldn’t let you leave the Emperor's Coven with all of our secrets.” Lilith’s voice wavers, she’s on the verge of tears, but she refuses to cry in front of other people. “He ordered me to kill you, and I couldn’t. I couldn’t do that to you.”

Eda is fuming now, her sister’s betrayal was the catalyst for her creating the Owl Guild.“So you snuck into my partner’s apartment and cursed me”

“Hah! You saw Eda’s flat ass.” Luz snickers, killing the mood.

The two adults stare at the moronic child, they knew Luz was overdue to say something stupid, but they weren’t expect this. They just decide to ignore the outburst, and send Luz to check up on King, but in reality they want this to be a chat between traitors.

“Like I was saying, why should I help you, after you ruined my life? You made me into a damn monster, and made my fiance leave me.” Eda crosses her arms over her chest, a gesture she normally does to keep herself from throwing hands.

“I know. I heard from my informants how you’ve been doing. Now matter how many times I say sorry, I know it won’t mean anything to you.” Lilith rolls up her sleeve, revealing the Emperor’s Coven tattoo on her wrist, it was in full color many years ago.

Oh how time flies when you’re a naive child looking for love in the wrong places.

“I’m leaving the Coven, for good. I’m done with this life.”

Rage flows freely through Eda’s veins, allowing the owl beast to take a small piece of control, she shoves all of the glasses on the bar onto the floor.

“No! You don’t get to do that!” Her body started to sprout feathers. “I wanted to leave! I wanted to marry Raine and have a family! You took everything away from me!” Eda lounges on her sister, now partially transformed.

Luz runs up the stairs from the basement, with King in towe, she hasn’t seen Eda turn into the creature in a very long time. She watches from the sidelines as the former Coven Advisor desperately tries to defend herself from the clawing beast without injuring her.

In typical Luz fashion, she dives headfirst into the fight…literally, she headbutts Eda in the chest. The Owl Guild member shoves Lilith out of the way of a swiping claw, she rolls backward to gain more space. Luz reaches into her pocket for her glyphs, but doesn’t feel the deck of cards, she panics as Eda attempts to pounce on her.

“Oh wait!” Luz suddenly remembers the tattoo on her arm, she hasn’t had to use it in a fight, and this seems like the perfect time to test it out.

She presses two fingers on the ice glyph, then swipes over to the fire glyph, causing a thick cloud of steam to encase the whole room. Luz didn’t calculate how much stronger this magic is compared to her usual cards, the steam is so thick it’s choking the inhabitants of the bar.

“Luz what the fuck?” King coughs.

“Sorry!” Luz tries swiping again, this time focusing on toning down her power, she presses her fingers into the plant glyph and swipes to the light glyph. This time, vines with little lights anchor the owl beast down, almost like some kind of kinky Christmas tree.

“Hurry! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” King sprints to Eda with a bottle of elixir and forces it down her throat, he cheers victoriously that he single handedly tamed the owl beast once again.

“I’ll take her to bed. King, will you show me the way?” Lilith carries her half naked sister bridal style, following the tall demon up a hidden set of stairs to the attic or also known as Eda’s forbidden nest.

Luz wipes the sweat off her brow with her thumb and looks at the mess created during the scuffle. “Eh, I’ll let the insurance people deal with it.”

She flops on her bed, opening up the chat on her scroll with Amity, ready to tease the Blight after tonight’s stressful events.

Totally ignoring Lilith’s orders.

FukBoi69: Use this one for my contact pic. If you don’t like it I can send another

Luz sends Amity a photo she took of herself, one she had taken a week prior. She is in front of the mirror with her boxers riding low on her hips and her shirt pulled up, exposing her taut abs.

She is every lesbian’s wet dream.

Peach Princess: Send another

Peach Princess: I don’t like it

Luz grins devilishly at the message, letting her dirty mind imagine what the witch is doing alone in her room.

The human kindly obliges with the request, she pulls off her shirt and bra then covers her breasts with one arm.

“Now to watch her have a melt down.” She snickers mischievously.

The second she hits send, her hand slips and she drops her scroll, with her impeccable aim she hits herself perfectly on the nose. She winces in pain and rolls out of bed to find the absent box of tissues that usually sits on her nightstand.

Luz pauses her search, one hand pinching her nose and opens the new message from Amity.

Peach Princess: I like that one

Peach Princess: Could you send something with a little more…blood?

Peach Princess: NVM don’t hurt yourself have a good night

The human blushes at the odd request, but she’s not surprised by any means, after all the witch has a taste for her flesh. If anything the strange blood kink Amity has been displaying makes their weird relationship so much more hotter. Who knew the danger of being killed makes you so horney?

Luz sits on the edge of her bed and allows her blood to drip on her chest. Once a thin coat builds up on her tan skin, she uses her camera to write the witch’s name on her chest.

She sends the picture and cleans herself of the red liquid. Luz waits a while for a reply, she assumes Amity has a hand down her pajamas.

FukBoi69: I bet that one made you cum

Peach Princess: Lewd I wouldn’t touch myself to a pic of a ugly human

FukBoi69: Sure Princessa. How about in person? I’ll pick you up Saturday afternoon

FukBoi69: Wear something sexy like a thong…just a thong and pack your bikini

Peach Princess: Good night human

FukBoi69: It’s a date! Night bitch

FukBoi69: *witch

Luz sets her scroll on the night stand and settles into bed, shirtless under the covers. She hears her scroll chime the heart racing notification tone she had set for Amity. She gasps softly at the surprise picture of the normally stuck up Blight in a very compromising position.

The sexually charged picture features a delightful view of Amity’s fingers dripping with cum, hovering over her hips. The picture expertly hides the witch’s wet cunt, but leaves enough to the imagination.

Luz holds the scroll to her chest,”I think I love you.”

Notes:

Seems like things are starting to heat up between Luz and Amity.

“Uh, Luz? My eyes are up here.”

Luz holds a finger up, trying to quiet the witch, she wants to enjoy the view of Amity’s breasts in the tiny bikini top. “Shhh, I know that, but your boobs are down here.”

Amity lunges to steal Luz’s bright red SnapBack, but the Owl Guild member ducks. The witch reaches up and pushes the human’s face away while smirking. She’s never felt like this before, she’s never felt so comfortable around someone.

“Hey hands off the snail maker!” Luz playfully picks Amity up and slings her over her shoulder caveman style.

“Put me down!” Amity squeals halfheartedly, she enjoys every moment of attention from the human.

“If you say so.” Luz gently tosses the squirming witch into a breaking wave.

“Luz! You messed up my hair!” The witch flips her now shorter lavender hair over her shoulder, and tackles the human into the boiling ocean.

The now freezing cold temperature causes the purple water to cool to a tolerable warmth, similar to a hot tub. Luz wraps her arms around Amity’s waist and holds her, ignoring the loud beating in her chest.

In the few days they spent together, totally not dating, just being really good gal pals. Amity feels like she has found her forever home in Luz’s arms.

The waves calm to a small wake, Luz wonders if the sea monsters had found a comfortable spot in the ocean and stopped moving. The human closes her eyes and hums happily, like she’s living in a dream she never wants to wake up from.

Amity on the other hand is having an internal battle with herself, she’s always like this around Luz. She wants to enjoy the moment but her skin feels like it’s itching for more contact with the human.

Eventually she gives in, the Blight swallows her pride and wraps her legs around the other’s midsection. She then places her cheek in the dip between Luz’s shoulder and neck, the same area where she bit her.

Amity is glad her moment of clouded judgment didn’t leave a scar on her favorite human’s flesh. Not that she minds scars or anything, she just doesn’t want to be the one hurting the other.

Luz places a ‘friendly’ kiss on the top of Amity’s head, and adjusts her position locking her hands together under the witch’s huge ass, her screen name checks out.

Amity reaches up and toughs on the brim of Luz’s hat,” If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought you were balding. Is wearing a head covering a human tradition?”

The human laughs and kisses the witch’s cheek, in a friendly way of course.” No, it’s not. I wear hats to hide that I’m a human.”

Amity rolls her eyes, even though Luz can’t see. “Tch. Luz? Everyone in Bonesborough knows who you are, and what you are, so why keep hiding?”

The Owl Guild member shrugs as if the answer to the question of the century could be so simple. “Don’t know. I’m just used to it. Anyway, you were saying something about your family when we first got here.”

Amity pouts, she was venting about how shitty her mother has been acting towards her lately and not even bothering to punish the twins. “Yeah. She keeps telling me I’m the next in line for the business but she keeps sending me to do stupid shit.”

Luz leans back to hold eye contact with the youngest Blight, somewhat skeptical that her mother is really sending her on petty errands. “Oh yeah? Like what?”

“Ugh! Like she has me checking shipping manifests! We have people in shipping for that or she has me travel around Bonesborough for fang of Osiris !” The witch throws her hands up in frustration.

Luz just quirks an eyebrow, she doesn’t see the problem with doing small jobs like she does on a daily basis. “So? I do odd jobs for Eda.”

“Luz, there’s no such thing as fang of Osiris. I know how to run the company, she just won’t give me the chance to do it.” Amity huffs, her cheeks puffing out adorably.

The human’s eyes widen, “Are you going to pull a Hunter?” She doesn’t want to think about her girlfri- her friend going to war.

Okay maybe she does like the idea of her good friend in skimpy armor that doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

Amity hesitates, she has thought of the possibility but she doesn’t want to go to the extreme of staging a coupe. She does know something needs to change soon or she might murder her siblings at the very least. “I don’t know. I think we should have that chat with Hunter on Monday.”

Luz nods along, still confused. “Why? Hunter hates the Owl Guild and I’m not even the one calling the shots, like ever.”

Amity frowns and flicks Luz’s nose, “Don’t you pay attention at all?”

“Not really?”

The Blight rolls her eyes, making sure to spell it out clearly for her idiot. “Hunter hates Eda. Think about it, if I bring you in as an ally and as the new leader he’s going to be more likely to negotiate.”

“Amity! You’re a genius!” Luz jumps up, spinning the two around in excitement.

Then she kisses her on the lips.

“Uh, sor-“ Luz is cut off by Amity wrapping her arms around the back of the human's neck and crushing her lips against the other’s.

Once the need for air became too great, the two looked into each other’s eyes with a furiously dark blush.

Luz is the first to shake off her embarrassment, “Who knew the great Amity Blight has a thing for a lowly human like me.”

Amity is using all of her willpower to keep herself from tearing Luz’s tank top off with her teeth. She takes a deep breath to calm her heart, which doesn’t work.

“Luz, if you don’t get away from me right now, I’m going to rip your jugular out with my bare hands.” At this point Amity is digging her nails into her palms.

Luz sets down the witch as requested, but she loves to stare danger in the face, especially if danger is so damn sexy.

The Owl Guild member wiggles her eyebrows mischievously, “I know a place we can hang out at.

“If you don’t take me there in the next five minutes, I’m going to fuck you within an inch of your life.” The witch’s pupils are dilated so much she could easily be mistaken for a hungry demon.

“You’re such a charmer, Blight.” Luz teases the feral witch, but she does make good on her promise.

The two are holding hands, standing in front of what looks like a few fallen trees next to a sheer cliff. Amity opens her mouth to complain about the ‘secret spot’ but Luz swipes the glyph tattoo on her forearm, causing the illusion to disappear. Now the two lov- friends stand before a tall log cabin, that could easily be a vacation home for the Blights.

The Blight is taken back by the advanced level of magic this seemingly pathetic human can produce. Usually a witch uses one main field of magic to master, along with elemental magic for day to day usage. It seems Luz has taken it upon herself to master every possible type of magic, she could be the strongest witch to ever exist in the Demon Realm one day.

Luz tosses her backpack on the ground next to the long leather sofa, “Let’s take this-”

She is immediately swept off her feet and tossed on the sofa by Amity, it looks like there will be time to christen the bed later. The feral witch wastes no time and latches her hot mouth on Luz’s neck, both moaning in pure ecstasy.

The Owl Guild member figures if she dies here being gutted by the Blight who is now pinning her hands above her head, it would be worth it. How many people can say they where fucked to death?

“More…Luz…I need more.” The witch breathes hotly in her ear right before capturing the soft shell of her round ear between razor sharp teeth.

“My pocket…oh fuck Amity. Don’t kill me.” The human didn’t realize she was going to be a bottom so easily for her first time, she imagined Amity sitting on her face the first moment the two were alone.

Amity pulls a pocket knife from her girlfri- very good friend’s pocket, she flicks it open with ease, noting the brilliant shade of blue tinting the blade. The witch uses the blade to cut the white tank top and the black sports bra off of the human below her.

“Lumity.”

“What?” Amity crinkles her nose in confusion, the moment is killed but her throbbing wet heat still remains.

“It’s the safe word, so you know? You don’t actually fucking kill me?” Luz blushing at how excited her body is becoming with Amity holding the blade so close to her cheek. Yeah this experience has awakened something sexually deviant within herself.

Not realizing the safe word is a mixture of both of their names, Amity agrees. The witch presses the blade against the human’s jugular, she is careful to not add any pressure behind the threatening gesture. She releases a throaty chuckle at the sight of Luz wincing in fear for her life.

Amity drags the knife down Luz’s perfectly toned stomach, leaving small beads of blood trailing down to her waistline. She flattens her tongue against the delicious lines of warm red, she takes her time lapping up every drop.

Oh this human is hers now, she’s going to make sure everyone knows by the end of the day.

Luz wakes to Amity laying on top of her, her short lavender hair tickling her nose. The human groans in pain from the strenuous activities hours ago, her body is littered with cuts, some in places she doesn’t remember receiving.

Fuck, her hips hurt.

Luz brushes a few loose strands of hair out of Amity’s face, the sleeping witch has dried blood around her swollen red lips. The Owl Guild member tries to slip out from under the snoozing Blight, only to have her wrist snatched in a tight grip.

“Shit, sorry.” Amity apologizes, still trying to shake the sleep from her system.

Luz laughs it off, “It’s not like you’re suddenly becoming possessive over me or anything.”

Amity blushes, her hands are more interesting than the conversation she’s having. “Um.”

“Amity.” Luz warns.

“Don’t look in the mirror.”

“Wait, Amity.” Luz carefully tilts the witch’s head back, her thumb gently brushing against her chin. She sees it, now with the clarity of post hot lesbian sex.

“Your eyes… they’re gold.” The human gazes in awe.

Amity narrows her eyes and swats the offending hand away. “Yeah they’re always gold.”

“No, I mean really gold like newly minted snail coins.”

“Oh. That makes sense.” The witch thinks back to her grandfather’s journal and all of the entries about consuming humans. She would like to try a few recipes in the human cookbook, but seeing as she has the one human, who she’s totally not in love with, she may have to wait.

“I’m not following.”

Amity rolls her eyes, “Do you ever? You know what I think I know the answer to that.” She looks around the room for her clothes, she notices her clothes are in taters on the floor. Luz, being the gentleman, tosses her spare clothes from the nearby dresser.

She crinkles her nose upon reading the dark purple shirt, ‘Bad Girls Coven’, oh her siblings are going to have a field day when she gets home.

“As I was saying, it looks like Blood Harvesters can pull the unique magic from humans and use it.”

Luz jumps up and down, clapping her hands. “So you have superpowers? Oh come on Amity, do something cool!”

The human is an idiot, but she is her idiot. A cute, sweet dolt.

Amity starts to draw a circle but a huge ball of fire explodes from her hand, strange, definitely fucking worth wiping the human race out by accident.

“Whoa.” Luz has to refrain from reaching out and touch the literal fire. “I have to go, I’m late for my drop. Let me know when your superpowers run out.” She wraps her arms around the short Blight and kisses her firmly on the lips.

The witch touches her lips still feeling the tingle long after the human has left the cabin. Fuck she didn’t want to fall for her so easily, how is she going to keep up appearances when she gets weak in the knees at the thought of the other.

Luz is ready to break the news to her boss, she knows things won't be the same after she tells Eda, but she has been thinking about it more since she started hanging out with the Blight. She is nervous, but she is ready for the conversation.

Luz opens the door to the bar, she sees the bar is damaged with several plaques torn off the walls, tables smashed in two, and bloody feathers smeared across different surfaces. Eda and Lilith are seated at the bar on what look to be the last undamaged chairs, both are having a good time like the room around them doesn’t look like a tornado ran through.

“Hey Eda, Lilith. I need to talk to you.” Luz slips past the two adults to stand on the other side of the bar.

The Owl Guild leader lazily smiles, “Hey kid, same here. I have very, very important news.”

Lilith narrows her eyes, having an idea what Luz is going to say, but she takes a dainty sip of her wine.

“I think I love Amity Blight.”

Eda jumps out of her seat and does a happy dance while Lilith slams her head on the bar top in despair.

“Odalia is going to kill us. She is going to skin us alive and feed us to a nine headed dragon named Oswalt.” No one knows why Lilith is so specific, the Blights only own a seven headed dragon named Timmy.

“Quiet Lilly! My kid is a grown woman now! Pour us up a round Luz!” Eda is still dancing, her important news forgotten for the moment.

The human pours out three shot glasses with clear alcohol, she presses the fire glyph on her forearm and dabs her flaming index on the rim of each glass. The three women knock back the shots, adorably named flaming tongues by Eda.

At that moment, Luz notices a huge red blotch on Lilith’s wrist, her eyes wander to Eda’s neck where the iconic owl tattoo stands out proudly is missing. Picking up on Luz’s frightened expression, Eda decides to spill her news. “I patched things up with Raine.”

The elder places a loving hand on her adoptive child’s shoulder, “It’s time Luz, it’s time for the apprentice to become the master. I want you to have the Guild.”

Luz’s cheeks are red with heart ache, she doesn’t know what to do, she has always had Eda to guide her. “What if I don’t want it? What if I don’t want to lead?”

Eda smiles, yeah Luz is really growing up so quickly. “I don’t care what you do, I’m leaving the Guild.”

Chapter Text

Hunter is on his knees praying to the Titan, thanking the demon god for the streak of good fortune. He walks to the wall of bones behind the skeleton replica of the Titan and kisses the wall, it’s the very least he can do to praise the demon.

The heavy wooden door to the temple creaks open, Luz and Amity walk in side by side, both sporting very different expressions. The witch is sweating with guilt for avoiding praying to the supernatural being for years while Luz strolls in like she owns the place.

Eda made sure to instill the values of the Titan in her apprentice the day she found her, as her creed demands.

Amity takes a seat in the first row of wooden pews, she looks like she is on the verge of passing out. She wipes the thick beads of sweat off of her forehead and nervously watches Luz walk to the Titan’s altar.

Luz shakes Hunter’s hand as they pass each other, she feels the heavy gold ring Belos once wore. The two leaders hold a mutual look of respect. The human humbly prays before the Titan statue, which is sitting on a golden throne.

It looks exactly like the huge tattoo Eda has on her back, except the Titan is wearing a thick ring on his middle finger, the same type Hunter is wearing. The boney hands with that type of ring is the universal symbol for a thief or smuggler.

Luz takes a seat on the pew, between Amity and Hunter, all three are staring ahead at the statue.

Hunter is the first to cut the silence with his voice. “I want to make my intentions clear. I’m not going to launch an attack on either of your factions, I have everything I need.”

“Would you be interested with more?” Luz rubs her palms together in her lap.

Hunter leans back, he looks to be at ease. “I’m listening.”

“I want my mother dead.” Amity takes a shaky breath, the anxiety evident in her voice. “In exchange for my territory.”

The blonde is silent, it looks like he is weighing his options, but he doesn’t look interested.

“I’ll give you the Owl Guild as an advance payment.” The two look at Luz, shocked at the offer she just threw on the table without hesitation.

Hunter smiles wickedly, “Control of the Boiling Isles, in exchange for killing Odalia?” He chuckles, “I would’ve killed that bitch for free.”

He then stands, with his hand extended to both women, “ Odalia for the Isles, do we have a deal?”

Luz shakes his hand, “Yeah, I want out. Do what you want with it, just don’t fuck us over.”

“I guarantee you, I will run this empire like nothing has changed.” He holds his hand out for Amity, “Do we have a deal Blight?”

The moment her hand meets his, she feels like she sold her soul to the devil, but this is for the greater good. She wants to change Blight Industries into a law abiding company and run it with a clean slate.

And have Luz by her side while she does it.

“Yes. Dispose of her however you see fit.”

“Consider it done, now if you don’t mind, I have a business to run. Good bye.” Hunter strolls out of the temple, excited he has won the game without even knowing he was a player.

“Welp, now that the hard part is done, I’m dropping out! WOO! I’m a college drop out!” Luz cheers, wrapping her arms around her very good friend and kisses the top of her head.

Amity shakes her head, Luz can drop out, but she wants to finish her degree. “How about we talk about it over dinner?”

Luz gasps and jumps around, “Raising Bane’s Fried Basan?”

The youngest Blight smiles at the now former gang member’s antics. “Sure, anything for you.”

Later the two are sitting in a booth in the back corner of the restaurant, Luz is in the middle of talking with her mouth full. “So I’m either going to work with Gus at the shop or become a fisherman! What do you think Amity?”

She thinks Luz should move in with her and take a job in the research department, she would love to get paid to destroy things for a living.

Look at her, she wouldn’t have thought in a million years she would be a Uhaul lesbian, they aren’t even dating yet here she is making plans for the future.

Her thoughts are jostled by Luz’s fingers tapping against her thigh, followed by a light squeeze, the code for trouble. Why can’t they have nice things?

Amity puts her hand on Luz’s cheek lovingly and says loud enough for the eavesdropper to hear, “Come on honey, let’s go back to my place.”

The two walk down the street, hand in hand carrying on different conversations like they didn’t have a tail following them.

“So then I was like let there be light!” Luz shouts, she presses her light glyph on her forearm and throws it at the hooded person behind her.

“Fuck!” The hooded figure scrubs their eyes, but quickly recovers. “I have no business with you human, but if you continue I will kill you.”

Amity recognizes the voice as a hit man her mother loves to employ, his reputation for quick kills is just as great as his body count. There’s no way Odalia could’ve found out about her deal with Hunter so soon.

“Okay.” Luz shrugs like this is a normal afternoon, well random people trying to jump her on the street is normal, but not a hit man.

“Then you can die along with the Blood Harvester.”

Oh, that solves the mystery of why Amity is wanted dead this time.

The two look at each other then to the assassin, then back to each other. “Abomination, Illusion, and Orical?” Luz nods and holds her hands out.

Together they play the quick game to see who gets dibs on this asshole.

“Abomination beats Illusion!” Amity cheers, then Luz points at the assassin, “I hope you brought lube, cuz you’re about to get fucked!”

The man smirks and tears off his cloak, revealing he is part squid with multiple arms protruding from his ribs.

Luz groans and gags, “Ah ew! I’ve seen enough hentai to know where this is going.”

Amity ignores the comment and summons an abomination behind the squid-man, he rolls to the left to avoid getting crushed by the monster. The Blight frowns and glares at Luz behind her, “Did you really draw a cat face on my abomination?”

Luz slowly shrugs with a shit eating grin, she sees the hit man is becoming impatient with the two. The assassin summons a solid slab of earth and sends it flying towards Amity, who is still scolding Luz.

The human counters the attack by sending a blue bolt of lightning at the center of the earth slab, causing it to split in half just inches before hitting the Blight.

“You bitch! I’m busy yelling at my idiot.” Amity tosses multiple pink fireballs at the assassin, he dodges all but one which clipped one of his arms.

The assassin ignores her complaining, he feels like this job should’ve been completed already. These two are going to be a headache.

“Yeah! Don’t interrupt the princess when she’s yelling at me!” Luz cheers on her friend a few feet behind her.

The assassin rolls his eyes and lobs a knife at Amity, it only misses her cheek by a hair, but her heart drops when she hears Luz yelp in pain.

The human is holding the side of her neck, right where the jugular is, and Amity rushes to help, but Luz waves off the Blight, “I’m okay, he only nicked the skin.”

Amity glares at the witch hybrid with a new flame of vengeance burning in her being, but Luz being her typical chaotic self laughs and points at the hit man like she is about to bully him back to grade school.

“You done fucked up!” Luz laughs as she sends waves of icicles at the squid-man, putting distance between them.

“Are you having the same idea?” Amity asks as she removes Luz’s hand from her neck.

Luz smirks, she loves seeing this side of her girlf- friend. “Yeah, I’m going to be blue balled until we kill this dipshit.”

The Blight rolls her eyes at the comment, and bares her hot mouth down on the human’s neck, taking her fill of the red essence. She doesn’t notice Luz is turning paler than a sheet of paper.

As the hit man realizes what the two are doing, Amity summons six abominations with a flick of a wrist, she sends them to pumble the squid-man. She uses her new speed to teleport closer to rip the remaining knives from the assassin’s belt, and return them back into his body.

He now resembles a knife block with the handles sticking out.

Amity dodges his multiple arms trying to get a hit in, she takes a step back to let her abominations tire out the opposition. She turns around to check on where Luz is and sees she is on the ground holding her neck and gasping for air.

“Shit Luz!” The witch slides next to her injured human.

“Don’t look at me like that.” Luz smiles weakly. “Stop being so dramatic, I’m fine. Go beat his ass so we can go home and fuck.”

Yep, Luz is perfectly fine, her crude humor is still intact.

Amity sees in the distance the assassin is making quick work of destroying her abominations, she turns back to Luz and places a kiss on her chapped lips. “Fine, only if I go first.”

“Anything you want, pillow princess.”

Amity pauses, “ I love you Noceda.”

Luz reaches up and pinches Amity’s cheek. “And I love you, Blight. Now kick him in the dick for me.”

The young witch intends to make good on her girlfriend’s request, she returns to the battle with two abominations struggling to hold the assassin.

Amity dodges the flurry of vines trying to wrap around her feet and returns with a fireball, this catches the abominations on fire, she should’ve thought this through better. She dismaintals the goo figures and dashes behind the squid-man to put him in a tight choke hold.

His remaining flailing arms scratch at the Blight’s face and her fingers trying to release the firm grip. Neither of the combatants hear Luz hobble towards them.

In a last ditch attempt before he blacks out, he pulls one of the many knives from his chest and impales Amity with it. The witch instantly releases the squid-man and holds her side, she definitely has a broken rib.

The assassin pulls another knife from his body, this time it’s aimed for Amity’s throat.

Mid slash he stops, his head slides clean off, his body folds in half and crumples to the ground with Luz holding an ice sword. Her breathing is labored, blood is freely oozing down her neck, and she has a wild look in her slowly greying eyes.

Luz collapses on the corpse of the failed assassin, she musters up enough strength to weakly punch him in the groin. “Fuck…Fuck ya bitch.”

Amity follows Luz’s lead and kicks the corpse, “Give me a second, I’ll heal you.”

Luz’s trademark smirk returns, “Take your time, I just found out a Blight loves a lowly human. I need a moment to bask in this information.”

Amity smiles, she thinks to herself that maybe trying to jump Luz in that alley was a good idea after all.

Meanwhile Hunter is enjoying the setting sun from the Aortic Harbor.

Odalia steps next to the new coven leader, she has accepted her fate the moment she learned Amity found her father’s textbooks. In a strange way, she is proud of her daughter for sending Hunter to take her head.

“Before I carry out my mission, why keep Amity from her heritage? She could’ve been a great asset for you.”

Odalia hangs her head in defeat, “My father had the gift, he left my mother for that whore human. They tore my family apart, I couldn’t let it happen again.”

The leader of Blight Industries knows she has lost the game in the end, her trusted assassin never checked back in. “I’m ready.”

Hunter nods, he pulls the same dagger he used to kill Belos from under his cloak and places it against Odalia’s throat.

“May Titan have mercy on your soul.”

Chapter Text

A soft knock on the door disturbs Amity from her large stack of papers, she sees the bright smile of her wife holding their daughter.

“Hey bosswoman! Everyone is here, so you better put the pen down before Azura starts crying.” Luz teases her wife as Azura coos in agreement.

Amity drops her work and rounds the desk, taking the hybrid into her arms. “We wouldn’t want that, right little sun drop?” The baby gurgles happily and returns to biting her own hand.

The three enter the large dining room to see the chaos erupting from their family, a typical Sunday dinner.

Eda reaches out to take Azura, while Raine pushes the sharp silverware away, they don’t want a repeat of last time. “When do I get to start training her?”

“Edaaaa!” Luz whines.

King mocks Luz by screeching with his tongue sticking out. “REEEEEE! Look at me! I love my family!”

Lilith places a hand over the demon’s mouth, she is the only one in the room who knows the reason why this dinner is so special.

The bar owner shrugs, “What? She can already cast spells, you can’t blame me for trying to be known as the best mentor in the Demon Realm.”

Azura has really been a huge surprise to the two women, first she came out with a full head of wavy hair, which almost made Amity faint. Then around five months old, everytime she clapped her chubby hands together, tiny balls of light would float towards the ceiling.

Both parents aren’t looking forward to Azura’s rebellion phase.

Ed and Em both with their respected partners wave at Amity, “Hey little sis!”

Em returns to whispering in her girlfriend’s ear, something that makes her blush and look away, while Ed casts a tiny illusion of Em making kissy faces with a baked potato.

Even Gus and Willow took time off of work to have dinner this weekend, both close friends are in the middle of a heated arm wrestling contest. Luz immediately wants to jump in.

Hunter is at the head of the long table, he is like a grumpy uncle around everyone but his Goddaughter. The moment he holds her, he makes silly faces, his terrifying reputation be damned!

There is one empty chair placed at the side of the room, next to the large windows, it belongs to the one person who hasn’t been able to attend the family dinners in a while.

Alador.

After Odalia’s death, he moved on quickly with his life. He loved his wife, but towards the last few years he couldn’t stand being in the same room as her. Alador became closer with his children, trying to make up for lost time, for spending all of his time in the lab.

He left this plane of existence the way he wanted to, in his lab, surrounded by his beloved experiments.

Amity clears her throat, “Thank you so much for showing up. We have great news to share with you.”

“Did you finally get that stick removed from your ass?” Ed shouts, his twin jumps over her girlfriend to high five him.

“Sick burn!” Em shouts.

Amity rolls her eyes, her siblings will always be a couple of smart asses.

“As I was saying. We wanted to wait until we were sure…we’re pregnant!” The room erupts into celebration for the again expecting mothers.

As much as the two don’t want to admit it, Azura was unexpected, when Luz suddenly became ill, she asked everyone if she was dying from a witch disease. The pregnancy was terrifying, no one knew if she could carry the child to full term or if she would die during labor.

This time around the two mothers are more than excited to celebrate the new child’s life, fear be damned.

Eda chugs the wine glass full of apple blood, “Yes! Another one! Give me the child!” Raine gently smacks their wife’s hand, careful not to accidentally hit Azura.

Luz points a thumb at Amity, “You’re gonna have to fight her this time around.”

At that moment Ed and Em jump out of their chairs and bear hug their baby sister, “Mittens! Aw!”

Amity swats at the two annoyances, “Get out of here!”

Lilith smiles into her drink, ignoring King and Luz crying into each others arms.

“Have you thought of any names?”Hunter kicks his feet up on the table, trying to look like a badass, while he is screaming like a fangirl internally.

Luz wipes the tears from her cheeks, “Yeah, we decided to name her after someone who I love so much. She is the reason why I’m here living my best life.”

“Her name is Camila.”

Hey friends, I wanted to start off by saying thank you for reading, this was my first fanfic I ever wrote.

I want to say I'm not really happy with how it turned out and I'm planning on re-writing this in the future. For the time being, this work will remain up on AO3 for whoever want to read, but the audiobook version on my Youtube channel have been taken down until further notice.

Who knows, maybe I'll keep everything from chapters 1-4 or just start from scratch.
