Work Text:
He first saw the photo in the missing mayor’s office.
He had drifted there, for some unknown reason. He was supposed to be helping clear the area of valuables so the town could ascend.
But… he had mindlessly walked here.
He looked around, a chest of drawers with stickers on them drawing familiarity from his chest.
It hurt to look at, and he turned to face the desk instead.
There, the photo lay.
It was of the missing mayor holding the star savior in his arms.
Mindlessly again, his hands drift over to the photo and pick it up, gently rubbing a thumb over the face of the star savior.
And as quietly as he can, he drops the photo back on the desk.
He had only met the star savior once! And they were crying. A lot.
They went missing too, after that.
He doesn’t want to think he might’ve caused it.
But the photo sticks in his mind long after the town is high in the sky.
So, he goes to find it.
Its slightly torn when he does, the face of the mayor lost to time.
He can’t quite remember his face, despite having a good memory.
Maybe its just one of those things.
He takes the photo and goes back to the sanctuary and hides it.
He doesn’t know why he hides it, but something tells him too.
Its also the day he first goes and talks to the sealed away remnant of Stratosfear.
Its… nice in a way. Like talking to an old friend.
(maybe Stratosfear was.)
The last time he looks at that photo, he is hiding it away where no one will ever find it.
He cannot stand the feelings he has towards it.
Because they are happiness, not neutrality.
He never knew that missing mayor or the star savior.
But the feeling of something missing lingers.
(there should be someone by his side.)
