Beware what you wish

Summary:

When Maxwell and the Nanny get engaged, C.C. wishes that the flashy girl from Flushing had never stepped into their lives. But what could happen if her wish came true?

Notes:

I'm a big fan of The Nanny, despite not owning the rights to it. So this is a non-lucrative fanfiction mainly about one of my favorite characters on the show, C.C. Babcock. Enjoy!

Not planning to have mature content, but I'll keep it for "Teen and up audiences," just to make it safe.

*English is not my first language, so be patient and nice!

Chapter 1: Fall

Chapter Text

That was a terrible day, at least in C.C.'s opinion. Maxwell had finally proposed to Nanny Fine, and they were about to get married. Not that C.C. could do something about it, of course. After all those years pining over Maxwell, loving him and standing by his side, the nanny would have to be crazy to think C.C. would give up on the producer that quickly. She was his perfect match after all, and no low class woman in tight miniskirts could change that.

But how to keep Maxwell her own? C.C. had absolutely no idea. She had already tried everything, but the nanny still managed to take a proposal out of Maxwell. Well, she would have to figure out a way, and very soon, if she wanted to have at least some chance. C.C. looked at herself in the living room mirror, thinking she was really the biggest fool. What chance would she still have? She sighed, feeling defeated.

Ever since Nanny Fine entered their lives, with her fashionable looks and flashy personality, Maxwell only had eyes for her. From the moment she appeared in that red dress that dreadful night, C.C. knew she had lost it. And she had been so close to finally getting Max to propose to her! He even started to notice her looks more. If only that woman had never knocked on the door selling… well, whatever she was selling.

But there was no use regretting that. She couldn’t change the past, even if she wanted to.
The best she could do was to use those few weeks before the wedding and figure out a way to get Maxwell back.

So distracted she was, C.C. didn’t notice Niles waxed the floor. That butler really had an obsession on making her fall, ever since he bought that cleaning product from the infomercials. She had been more aware of it for the last months, but the whole engagement business got her out of her mind, and made her open her guard to fall for such stupid prank.

With a gasp and an “uh” C.C. fell to the ground. Differently from all the other times, she heard a loud knock and her vision blurred. Soon enough, darkness assaulted her, and she lost her conscience.
