It had been a normal day at The Owl House in the Boiling Isle. Eda, King, and Lilith had to sneak into town to gather some supplies. They left Luz and Hunter with Willow, Amity, and Gus for the day. Lilith hugged Hooty on her way out, and that seemed to be that for the witches and King.
Luz had already been feeling pretty small that day. The stress of all of her big problems seemed to just make her feel smaller. With Amity, Gus, and Willow there though, she felt very safe and happy.
The trio of bigger kids could tell that their pal was regressing. They looked at each other and smiled.
“Hey Luz, would you like me to make you a sippy cup, sweetie?” Amity asked, standing up and making her way towards the kitchen.
Luz giggled and happily bounced in place and nodded her head. “Si! Er,, yes please!” She replied. When Amity returned with Luz’s purple and blue dinosaur sippy, Luz’s eyes got big an she began giggling and babbling.
Amity smiled and handed her the sippy cup. Willow stood and made her way to one of the storage closets where Eda kept all of Luz’s play things. Willow had gotten the idea to get some things for her friend to play with.
Hunter had seen Luz get smaller he could feel himself involuntarily regressing with her. This feeling, along with many other things were so new for him. His friends all seemed to take it in stride though, so he immediately felt better.
Willow came back carrying a few medium sized boxes full of different toys. There were many toys Eda had found in her adventures in the human world. There were large wooden blocks with lots of shapes, dinosaur toys, toy cars, and even a rocket ship!
When Luz saw all of the toys she immediately stood and began running around the living room.
“Toys! Dere’s a spaceship! An a car! An—an!” She got so excited that all she could do was giggle and run around.
Luz happily ran around the house, excited to have the room to run and play. Hunter had decided to sit with his back against the couch, next to Gus. Gus smiled at him.
“Heya, buddy. Are you feeling small too?” He asked gently.
Hunter nodded his head slowly.
Gus nodded his head in response, his smile widening.
“Okay! That’s fine!” He said, conjuring some sparkling magick from the palm of his hand, “You are safe to be small now, Little Prince. We’re here for you!”
Hunter looked at him, contemplating what Gus said. After a moment, He gave him a big toothy grin and nodded his head. Gus could tell that Hunter was mostly nonverbal, but he could tell what that smile was about.
“What? Do you like that nickname, kiddo?” Gus asked, bending down to open the lids off of the boxes Willow had set next to Hunter.
Hunter nodded his head, still smiling. Gus began putting all of the wooden blocks onto the floor for the kiddos to play with. When Luz spotted the blocks, she rushed over and plopped down next to them.
“Luz Play?” Hunter asked, tilting his head to the side. Luz giggled and nodded her head.
“Yeah! Wan play block wif me?” Luz asked, beginning to separate the blocks for the two of them.
Hunter giggled and nodded his head, “Yeah!”
The two kiddos began building a big castle out of blocks. They even built a courtyard for all of their Dino royalty. They used some clear green blocks for windows. Amity and Willow guessed that they would be getting hungry soon, so Amity began making lunch while Willow made a sippy cup for Hunter.
“Here you go, Little Prince!” Willow said as she handed him a red and yellow sippy.
Hunter smiled and he took it happily. Him and Luz were completely immersed in their building, and soon their castle was complete.
They then began playing with their Dino court. It seemed that the king, Sir King Rawrington the third had been planning a war against the rival kingdom’s king (King Jeromy) for some time. By the time that lunch was ready, they were already in mid battle.
“Take that King Jeromy!” Sir King Rawrington (Luz) exclaimed, “Soon your kingdom is mineeee!”
“Noooo!!” King Jeromy (Hunter) shouted, “Not Da king-umm!” (kingdom)
Amity came out from the kitchen with two plates with mashed potatoes and Dinosaur chicken nuggets, and she set them at the coffee table.
“Heya kiddos! It’s lunch time now, okay?” She said gently. Hunter immediately smiled and moved to sit at the table, whereas Luz decided to continue playing with her toys.
Amity chuckled softly and she crouched down in front of her. “Hey there, princess. I know you want to play with your toys, but you should eat something, dear. Your toys will still be here.” She said, taking one of Luz’s hands.
Luz pouted and tilted her head, “But dinos!”
Amity smiled and ruffled her hair, “Kiddo, you have dinos with your lunch.”
Immediately, Luz smiled wide and went over to her plate. She then began to construct a volcano from her potatoes for her dinos.
Hunter had been happily eating his potatoes with a spoon. Luz began playing dinos once again, and Hunter joined in again.
The battle had to continue. Sir King Rawrington Nugget ran towards King Jeromy Nugget, biting off his hand.
Hunter ate King Jeromy’s hand and dipped it into some ketchup.
“Oh no” Hunter cried, “Mah hand!”
King Jeromy jumped onto Sir King Rawrington’s back. “Aughhh!! You’ll pay!” He yelled, chomping onto Sir King Rawrington’s neck.
Luz chomped onto her nugget’s neck and dipped it into her ketchup.
Sir King Rawrington fell onto the battle ground. “Ahh, King Jeromy...” Sir King Rawrington gasped, “It... It seems you’ve bested me...blegh..”
The two kiddos both began laughing as they finished up their food.
Gus washed up the kiddos dishes as Amity and Willow continues to play with the two kiddos.
While playing, Luz hugged Amity.
“Tank oo! Today’s fun!” She said, happily going back to her blocks.
Hunter nodded his head with a wide grin.
“Yeah! Fun!” He added.
In that moment, Eda and the gang walked back inside. Eda could tell that Hunter and Luz were regressed almost immediately. She smiled, happy to know that Luz was comfortable enough to regress in her home.
“Hey there kiddos! We’re home! Did you have a good day today?” Eda asked, dropping a few burlap bags onto the floor.
Luz stood and threw her arms around Eda. “Owl Mom!” She giggled and squeezed Eda tightly, “I missed you!!”
Eda laughed and hugged her back. “Heya kiddo!” She exclaimed, “I missed you too!”
Hunter tittered softly behind them. “Owl mom!” He giggled, “Fun!”
King came running over to Hunter and hugged him happily.
“Little Prince! Do you want to play King again?” He asked, happily building a new tower for their new game.
Hunter giggled and nodded his head and they began playing their game.
Overall, it had been a lovely day. For Luz and Hunter, it was nice to be able to be small and safe. For Eda, Lilith, and King, they had a successful scavenge and they should be able to start preparing. For Amity, Willow, and Gus, they had been able to help their friends.
Oh how magical it was, to see where their adventures would take them.
