Work Text:
"Toaster, I think we've been together long enough, I have someone I want you to meet." Mug said.
Toaster set their fork down, "you want me to meet someone?"
"Yeah, it's really important to me that you meet other people that were once in my life and managed to not… d… you know…. From Alex." He said, trailing off at the end.
Toaster placed a hand over one of Mug's, taking a deep breath, "of course I'll meet them. When did you want us to meet?"
Mug smiled, "maybe later today? She asked me to come over since I was finally able to contact her again and I told I wanted her to meet someone and she seemed so excited. She even promised not to use magic to look into the future and see you ahead of time."
"Another magic user?" Mug asked.
"Yeah, my grandma. She taught me everything I know." Mug said, smiling.
Toaster smiled, "I can't wait to meet her."
"I'll call her after we finish eating and get ready and she'll teleport us to her." Mug responded.
Toaster nodded and started eating again.
The rest of breakfast was mostly quiet as they ate a little faster than usual.
Toaster gently kissed Mug's cheek before walking off to start getting ready.
Mug smiled and followed them shortly after.
It took them longer than expected to find something good enough to wear.
Toaster insisted that they needed to dress nice since it was their first meeting with her while Mug insisted they should dress more comfortably because he was certain his grandma would like them.
They ended up in a sweater with a t-shirt and jeans.
Mug wore something similar so they'd be matching.
"Ready?" Mug asked.
"Yeah, I think so." Toaster answered.
"Okay," mug said, taking out his phone.
There was a moment of silence as he started to call his grandma, but it was quickly ended when they appeared in her house.
Toaster looked around nervously.
They hadn't really thought about meeting each other's families since they weren't really in the picture anymore. For the most part.
"Grandma," mug called.
An older woman stepped out of another room, smiling, "Jonny."
He quickly approached her and pulled her into a hug. "I can't believe I get to see you again. I thought Alex was going to get everyone."
"Oh, don't you worry about that. I'm pretty good in a fight still," she said with a small chuckle. "Can I get you something to drink, dear?"
Toaster watched them. They felt their chest tightening up.
"And who did y- you." His grandma suddenly changed her tone.
Toaster tried to take a step back.
Mug looked between them, "what's going on?"
Toaster didn't want to take their eyes off her but desperately needed to find the door. Was the room always this small? It felt bigger a moment ago.
"Dear, why don't you go get something from the kitchen?" She said, smiling at her grandson.
Mug looked at Toaster.
They were staring at his grandma in fear.
"I need to know what's going on," Mug said, taking a step closer to Toaster.
Toaster was silent. She wouldn't hurt him right here in front of Mug, would she? They could just stay next to him the entire time and he wouldn't need to worry. He shouldn't have to worry, they told him this was okay. They just needed to calm down but they couldn't get air into their lungs, no matter how hard they tried to breathe.
Mug was in front of them.
"Toaster. Hey, it's okay. No one's going to hurt you. You're safe." Mug whispered, gently holding their shoulders.
Toaster stared at him, still trying to get some air. "It's fine."
"You want to sit down?" Mug asked.
Toaster, reluctantly, nodded.
Mug guided them to a seat and pushed them down gently. "Just wait here, I'll get you some water."
He quickly walked out of the room, leaving Toaster and the Glam Rock Witch alone.
"You've got some nerve coming here." She said, taking a seat as well.
Toaster just stared straight ahead, trying to get themself to say anything.
"When my grandson said he was bringing someone I didn't think it'd be someone like you. And he calls you toaster? Do you not remember your name?" She asked.
They couldn't tell if they were being mocked or if this was genuine.
They just needed to take a few more breaths and be nice for Mug.
"What happened to your wife and kids? Did you just leave them as soon as you got turned back? I know they're still around." She continued to ask.
Mug sat down next to them and handed them a small cup of water.
They slowly started drinking.
"We met their previous family a while ago. They mostly understand everything. And it's a bit weird that they're younger than some of their kids now." Mug answered.
"I can fix that for you." She offered.
"No thank you," Toaster answered, taking a deep breath. "It's lovely to meet you sorry about that, you look a lot like the per-"
"Jonny, you didn't tell them before this who I was?" She asked.
"You're my grandma?" Mug answered.
"Have you not told him anything?" She asked Toaster.
"I know about the glam rock witch." Mug said.
"Mug."
"Jonny, have you seen a picture of the glam rock witch?"
"Not recently?"
She looked at Mug for a moment. "Jonny, I know I didn't talk much about work or anything with you, but I am the glam rock witch."
"What?"
"I didn't want to say anything," Toaster mumbled.
"Well, you should have." She said. "I can't believe this must be some sort of curse."
"What?" Mug asked.
"You ended up with someone that you should have never been able to meet."
"Alex turned me back," toaster said. "It was an accident but we spent a lot of time together."
"I'd assumed as much."
Mug grabbed Toaster's hand. "You're okay with them now though?"
"Not really," she said.
Toaster squeezed Mug's hand.
"But I won't take them away from you." She said.
Toaster took a few more deep breaths.
"I'll just wait for things to end naturally first." She shrugged.
"Grandma!"
"It'll happen." She said.
"No." Toaster said. "I love him a lot. I don't want that to happen."
They tried to stay calm but everything was becoming a lot very quickly.
"I love you too," mug said, smiling.
"Only time will tell " she said, smirking.
Toaster gripped mugs hand.
"Grandma, stop trying to scare my partner. You said you wanted to meet them but"
"Alright, alright. Tell me, how have things been?" She asked.
