The camera panned into a certain person's porch. “Hello neighbor!” Wally called out, smiling at the viewer. “Do you know what today is?” He stood up from his stool, placing his paintbrush down onto the easel. Turning to face the view fully.
“Why it’s valentine's day of course!” He shone his signature smile. “I’m just finishing up on the last painting I’m going to gift to my friends!” He chuckled, swiveling the easel to show off the painting.
It was a painting of his dear ‘friend’ Julie Joyful!
He’d painted her in extravagant detail! Her big hair on full display in the portrait. She was pictured in her favorite nightgown, one they’d often see when the group had sleepovers together.
“Ain't it pretty? Gosh I’m cutting it close! I’ll be heading off to deliver my gifts soon!” He checked his watch.
“I’ll just have to hope it’ll dry in time! Will you help me deliver my friend’s gifts?” He asked, hauling a pair of canvases in his arms.
“Perfect! I’ll start by taking these two to Barnaby and Eddie! Then we’ll come back and pick up two more!” He smiled at the camera.
On the short walk to Barnaby’s house, Wally could be heard whistling the ‘Welcome home’ theme song. Weird…
Wally knocked on the door. It only took a couple beats before it promptly opened. “Hiya wally! Ain’t it nice to see you today! I’ve got a gift for you!” Barnaby exclaimed, disappearing for a few seconds before coming out with a card and a small box of chocolates.
“Thanks! So do I!” Wally smiled. Handing over the portrait to his best friend. “This is really nice Wally!” Barnaby exclaimed, his smile going from ear to ear.
“Awe, well thanks Barnaby! Well I should be off, I have quite a bit of gifts to give out!” He waved his hand bashfully.
“Well then, you should hurry along then! You don’t want to keep ‘anyone’ waiting!” He chuckled, clearly insinuating something.
“Oh you big softie! What are you going on about?” Wally scoffed. His cheeks glowing with the faintest of pink. “You know who I mean!” Barnaby laughed. “Now hurry along! I’m sure she’s getting many valentines as we speak!” Barnaby ushered Wally away, saying a final goodbye before closing his front door.
“Gosh! I sure hope he wasn’t implying who I think he was…” Wally sighed, the camera following him on his walk back home.
—
By the time he’d reached the last portrait, it was almost 4pm! The sunlight wouldn’t stay around for much longer, pushing Wally to face the music and give out the very last one.
“Well friends, we’re down to our last gift! Do you know whose it is?” There was a pause. “That's right! Julie joyful’s gift! Saving the best for last I see!” He winked. Holding up the now complete and dry portrait.
“Well I think it's time we outta give it to her, huh?” He smiled.
On the walk there, Wally was heard to be humming a tune once more, not the theme this time however, a nice song to the melody of some old 50’s song that reminded him of Julie.
“Oh! Looks like we’re here!” He smiled, coming to a stop in front of her porch.
Her house was decorated in magnificent detail. Their house was always the most festive around valentines day!
“Well ain’t that the most!” He grinned. “Just one look at her house and it just radiates their energy!” Wally shook his head, climbing up the porch steps slowly. Their heartbeat steadily increased.
A knock on the door stirred Julie awake inside.
“Oh! Hey Wally!” She cheered, the sleepiness leaving no trace as soon as she saw the man. “What brings you here! Haven’t you heard? It's Valentine's Day, my utmost favorite day!” She giggled, flouncing around in her very special gown.
It was pink all over, a heart shaped bodice framing her nicely.
“Precisely why I’m here! I’ve brung you a gift!” Wally held out the canvas. Nervously tapping his toe.
“Well isn’t this wonderful!” She giggled, jumping in place excitedly. “Why don’t you come in! I’ve got a gift for you inside!” She practically dragged him in, not that Wally minded though.
—
“I set up a nice little tea party for us! I made sure to pick out snacks you liked too!” She said, sitting him down in one of the chairs at their dining table.
“Gee, this is wonderful Julie!” Wally flushed.
“Anything for my best bud!” She giggled, clapping softly for effect. “Y'know I think you’re quite great Wally!” She smiled softly, sipping her tea quietly.
“I do too Julie!” He smiled. Following her actions.

Julie had convinced Wally to act out scenes from romeo and Juliet with her. Though it was more of an immediate yes then any actual convincing.
“If I profane with my unworthiest hand. This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss.” Wally ‘read’ dramatically. The pair had done this enough times to have memorized entire scenes by heart.
Julie was still over the moon with the writings though, often having to take a moment to collect herself after any particularly sweet scenes.
“Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss” She spoke out, their hands flapping in excitement and giddiness.
“Julie, if you keep stopping like this we’ll never get to the end by sundown!” He teased.
“I know, but it's so sweet!” She giggled, practically jumping from one foot to the other.
Wally had his signature smug smirk on his face. Before promptly coming up with an idea.
“If you really wanted, we could get Sally to help us put together an actual production of Romeo and Juliet. She’s better at planning this sort of thing anyways…”
“That would be fantastic!” She giggled, growing more excited by the minute.
“Well then, I’ll let her know about our little idea tomorrow. But in the meantime, I think it's about time I go home! The suns almost setting!”
As the two parted ways, Julie handed Wally a carefully wrapped box. “Here’s your gift!” She smiled. “What? Think I wouldn’t get you anything? That's silly!”
—
As Wally was getting ready for bed that night, he greeted the viewer once more.
“Well that was an awfully exciting day huh? We gave out our valentine's day gift, we hung out with our beloved Miss Julie,” He swooned jokingly.
“But that's a wrap for today I think! It's almost bedtime here at home!”
“Remember to brush your teeth and clean your face, and I’ll see you tomorrow neighbor!” He chuckled.
