With a few slashes of their sword, the rampaging beast in front of Mizuki collapsed. They smiled and sheathed their sword, standing fully upright and holding their sheathed sword at their side. Mizuki turned around, raising their hand with a cheer as their fellow knights followed suit.
It’s over. My princess is safe.
“The beast has been slain!”
“Our kingdom is safe!”
“Our people are safe!”
“Fellow knights!” Mizuki called, causing the other knights to quiet down. “We have defeated the beast that has been terrorizing our kingdom for far too long! Starting today, we enter an era of peace! Our kingdom is safe!”
The cheer rose up again through the gathered knights. A smile broke onto Mizuki’s face as they held their hand up. After a few moments, they lowered their hand and walked over to join their fellow knights, laughing and cheering the entire way home.

“Knight Akiyama, Princess Asahina wishes to speak to you.”
“To me?” Mizuki looked over to the guard. “Alright. I’ll talk to you guys later!” Mizuki waved at the knights they were talking to and headed into the castle.
After a rather quick walk, Mizuki arrived at Mafuyu’s door. They lightly knocked on it, hearing a soft “come in” from inside. They opened the door and stepped in, quickly being wrapped up in a hug by Mafuyu. Mizuki smiled, hugging her back.
“Hey, Mafuyu.”
“I’m glad you’re back.”
“I wasn’t gone for that long.”
“It was dangerous, fighting that beast.”
“I was trying to protect the kingdom..”
“You promised me you wouldn’t do anything dangerous.”
“I didn’t get hurt, I’m okay.”
“I know.” Mafuyu put a hand on Mizuki’s face. “But I still worry.”
Mizuki smiled again, reaching their hand up to hold Mafuyu’s. They lightly moved Mafuyu’s hand away from their face to give it a kiss, bending down to kneel in front of her, still holding her hand. Mizuki bowed their head lightly.
“I’m your knight, Mafuyu. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect you.”
Mafuyu kneeled down next to Mizuki and gave them a hug. “As long as you don’t get hurt doing so. Promise me? Again?”
Mizuki nodded with a soft purr. “I promise. I’ll stay safe.”
The two stayed hugging for the rest of the night.
