The Protective Friends Part 1

Shadow raced through the corridors of the G.U.N. headquarters, his mind filled with worry. He had overheard Rouge discussing a plan to kidnap someone but he doesn't know who.

As he neared Rouge's location, Shadow spotted her talking with someone else, their voices hushed but urgent. Shadows narrowed his eyes, suspicious of the secret conversation. He approached silently, his footsteps masked by the hum of activity in the facility.

"Are you sure this plan will work?" the mysterious figure asked, their voice tinged with doubt.

Rouge crossed her arms, a confident smile playing at her lips. "Absolutely. Sonic and his friends thinks I am friends with them, but little do they know, I am just using them to get close to Sonic. Once we have him, we can finally use his power to our advantage."

Shadow's heart sank. How could Rouge betray them like this? And who was this unknown accomplice she was speaking to? Determined to find answers, he signaled for Omega, the powerful robot, to follow him.

Quietly and efficiently, Shadow and Omega trailed the two conspirators as they made their way through the labyrinthine corridors. Finally, they arrived at a heavily guarded door marked "Special Cell."

The sound of Sonic's weakened voice reached Shadow's ears as they drew closer. It was barely audible, filled with exhaustion and pain. The sight that met Shadow's eyes was heartbreaking. Sonic lay on the cold floor, curled into a ball, completely unconscious. The special cell was designed to suppress his super-speed, leaving him weak and vulnerable.

Without hesitation, Shadow activated his Chaos Control ability, teleporting himself, Sonic, and Omega out of the cell and into safety. Sonic's body felt unnaturally light in Shadow's arms, a testament to the toll the cell had taken on him.

Shadow knew they needed to get Sonic medical attention immediately. He focused his energy and Chaos Controlled them to the nearest hospital. Once there, Omega quickly dialed Tails, who was on Angel Island with Knuckles, working on some advanced technology.

"Tails, we have an emergency," Omega stated urgently. "Sonic has been kidnapped by G.U.N., and he's in critical condition. We need your help."

Tails, shocked and concerned, responded quickly. "I'll bring the Tornado right away. We'll be there as fast as we can."

True to his word, Tails arrived in no time, piloting the Tornado with Knuckles by his side. They loaded Sonic onto a stretcher, rushing him into the hospital, where the doctors immediately began their work.

Shadow paced anxiously, his mind swirling with a mix of anger, worry, and determination. Rouge and G.U.N. would pay for what they had done to Sonic. He vowed to gather every piece of information and unleash his wrath upon those who dared to harm his friend.

As Sonic slowly regained consciousness, he found himself surrounded by his trusted allies. Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow stood by his side, relief etched on their faces.

"Easy there, Sonic," Tails said, his voice filled with concern. "You're going to be all right now."

Sonic blinked his eyes, trying to make sense of his surroundings. His head throbbed, and his body felt heavy and weak. Breathing was difficult, and he struggled to speak. "Wha... What happened?" he managed to utter, his voice barely a whisper.

Tails gently placed a hand on Sonic's shoulder, his eyes filled with worry. "You were kidnapped, Sonic. G.U.N. had you in a special cell that weakened you. But don't worry, Shadow rescued you, and we're here to help."

Sonic's confusion deepened. Kidnapped? Special cell? It was all a blur to him. He couldn't recall any of it. Panic crept into his voice as he struggled to understand. "I... I don't remember. How did I end up here? What happened to me?"

Shadow stepped forward, his voice steady and reassuring. "You were betrayed, Sonic. Rouge was working with G.U.N. to capture you. They wanted to use your power for their own purposes. But we won't let them get away with it. We're here for you."

Sonic's eyes darted between his friends, searching for answers that seemed just out of reach. The fog in his mind made it difficult to grasp the full extent of the situation. His body trembled with a mix of fear and frustration.

Tails knelt down beside Sonic, taking his hand in a comforting gesture. "It's okay, Sonic. You've been through a lot, but you're safe now. Just focus on recovering. We'll fill you in on everything once you're feeling better."

Knuckles nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Sonic. We've got your back. We won't let anyone hurt you again."

As Sonic closed his eyes, exhaustion and confusion washed over him. He trusted his friends, and their words offered him a glimmer of comfort. Though he couldn't recall the details of his ordeal, he knew he was in good hands.

As Sonic drifted off to sleep, his breathing finally steadying, the room fell into a quiet hush. Shadow stood by his side, watching over his slumbering friend with a mix of concern and determination etched across his face.

"One of us needs to look after him," Shadow whispered, his voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. He knew that they couldn't afford to leave Sonic's side, not when he was in such a vulnerable state.

Tails and Knuckles exchanged knowing glances, understanding the weight of Shadow's words. They were aware of the dangerous path that lay ahead, the need to uncover the truth behind Rouge's betrayal and dismantle the web of deceit spun by G.U.N.

Tails spoke softly, his voice filled with determination. "I'll stay with him, Shadow. Sonic needs someone he trusts by his side, and I'll make sure he's safe."

Knuckles nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting the fierce loyalty he held for their blue hero. "I'll be right here as well. We won't let anything happen to Sonic."

Shadow's gaze softened, gratitude shining through his crimson eyes. He knew he could rely on Tails and Knuckles to keep Sonic protected. "Thank you, both of you. I trust that you'll watch over him. I need to gather information, find out everything about Rouge's involvement, and bring her to justice."

Tails placed a hand on Shadow's shoulder, offering reassurance. "Don't worry, Shadow. We'll support you in any way we can. We'll uncover the truth and make sure those responsible face the consequences."

With a nod, Shadow turned to leave the room, his mind already focused on his mission. But before he stepped away, he cast one last glance at his slumbering friend. Sonic's face relaxed in sleep, the worries and confusion momentarily eased from his expression.

"I won't rest until we've set things right, Sonic," Shadow whispered, his voice filled with determination. "I promise, I'll make them pay for what they've done to you."

With that, Shadow slipped out of the room, leaving Sonic in the capable hands of Tails and Knuckles. They would guard their friend's rest, providing the support and protection he needed.

Outside the hospital room, Shadow's resolve burned brighter than ever. He would track down every lead, uncover every secret, and expose the true depths of Rouge's betrayal. The path ahead was treacherous, but for Sonic's sake, he would face any challenge head-on.

Shadow's piercing crimson eyes narrowed as he spotted Rouge loitering outside a lavish jewelry store, her eyes fixated on the sparkling displays within. Anger surged through him like a raging inferno, fueled by the betrayal and the pain inflicted upon Sonic. This was the moment he had been waiting for—the chance to confront Rouge and extract the truth from her.

Silently, Shadow approached Rouge, his footsteps masked by the sounds of the bustling city. The crowd seemed oblivious to the brewing storm between the two hedgehogs. As he neared her, his voice seething with controlled fury, he spoke in a low, menacing tone, "Rouge. We need to talk."

Rouge turned, her eyes widening in surprise as she locked gazes with Shadow. Attempting to put on a façade of innocence, she stammered, "Shadow! What a coincidence running into you here. What's up?"

Shadow's expression hardened, his anger barely contained. "Cut the act, Rouge. We both know what you've done. You betrayed Sonic, your supposed friend."

Rouge's gaze faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure. "Oh, come on, Shadow. You've always been so serious. Can't we just have a little fun?"

Shadow's voice grew colder, his words laced with a venomous intensity. "Fun? Is that what you call it? You sold out Sonic to G.U.N., played the role of the ally while plotting his capture. You used our trust against us."

Rouge's eyes darted around, searching for an escape route, but Shadow's commanding presence left her feeling trapped. She shifted uncomfortably, her tone defensive. "You don't understand, Shadow. G.U.N. promised me something, something bigger than any of us. I had to make a difficult choice."

Shadow's fists clenched at his sides, his voice cutting through the air like a sharp blade. "No excuse can justify your actions, Rouge. Sonic is lying in a hospital bed, weakened and confused because of you. Now, you will tell me everything. Every detail, every secret plan you've hatched with G.U.N."

With a sudden movement, Shadow grabbed Rouge's arm, leading her forcefully into a nearby alleyway. Shadows danced around them, accentuating the tension in the air. His grip tightened, but his voice remained controlled, though the anger seeped through every word. "Talk, Rouge. Confess. This is your chance to redeem yourself, if such a thing is even possible."

Rouge's defiance flickered in her eyes, but she remained silent, her lips sealed shut. Shadow's anger surged to new heights, his patience wearing thin. He shook her arm roughly, demanding her cooperation. "Enough games, Rouge! Tell me what you know!"

But Rouge resisted, her lips pressed tightly together, refusing to speak. In a desperate attempt to escape, she struggled against Shadow's grip, flapping her wings to take flight. Shadow's eyes widened in a mix of frustration and shock as Rouge managed to break free, soaring into the night sky.

"No!" Shadow's voice boomed through the alleyway, echoing off the cold walls. He watched helplessly as Rouge disappeared into the distance, her silhouette fading against the backdrop of the city lights. The weight of his failure settled upon his shoulders, a heavy burden that fueled the fire within him.

With clenched fists, Shadow swore under his breath, his voice laced with determination. "I won't let you get away, Rouge. I will find you. And when I do, you will face the consequences of your betrayal."

His words hung in the air, a fierce declaration of his unwavering resolve. Shadow's eyes narrowed as he scanned the night sky, vowing to track down every lead, leave no stone unturned, and expose the truth that had been shrouded in darkness.

"I swear, Rouge," he yelled into the night, his voice tinged with a mix of anger and determination. "No matter where you hide, I will find you. And justice will be served."

With renewed determination, Shadow turned his back on the empty alleyway, ready to embark on a relentless pursuit. His loyalty to Sonic burned brighter than ever, and he would stop at nothing to uncover the truth, bring Rouge to justice, and ensure that no harm would befall his friends again.

The hunt for Rouge had begun, and the shadows would bear witness to the unwavering determination of the ultimate life form.
