Work Text:

“But… what’s your cut?” His dad was asking him about what was happening between him and Grace. Logan liked that Grace already had a kid because he thought it meant she’d be up to having more with Roman and Roman didn’t hate the idea either but… he didn’t see it. He didn’t see himself with anyone really.

“Um… No,” Roman tried to be a suck up, “No. God no, dad. No, it’s your firm. Like, it’s not what’s in it for me. But you know, like, what is in it for me?”

Logan laughed which Roman took as a good sign. If he was in the laughing mood that meant he was feeling more agreeable, he’d learnt that early on in his childhood. If dad was laughing, you were safe, if dad wasn’t, you needed to stay away. Although, Roman didn’t always follow his own guidelines.

“I’d love to get you back in,” Logan replied.

“Sure. No, sure,” Roman agreed with him, “it’s just it was tough last time. It was very tough with Frank over me in LA.”

Roman didn’t want to have to tell his dad about how Frank would sometimes get so drunk he felt empowered enough to make a move on his youngest son.

Roman didn’t want to say that he’d quit in LA because of that.

“Frank’s very important to the firm,” Logan replied whilst Roman’s head worked over time.

Because he had become sick of Frank pushing his way into his room at Hotels and forcing himself onto Roman or sick of when Frank would shoulder his way past Roman into the cubicles with him when they both stayed late at the LA office and Frank magically needed to go piss at the same time as him.

So instead, Roman settled for, “oh, no, sure. No, of course, I understand that. It’s just I had a lot of ideas at the studio. As you know, I’m quite an innovative thinker, and I was met with a lot of resistance.”

It was that or it was “you know how my whole childhood you were absolutely terrified I was going to grow up and be a queer, well, your fear wasn’t totally unfounded and has completely come true but it wasn’t all my choice and you know Frank, who you probably love and trust more than me, yeah he used to fuck me in the ass so good that I would cum from it occasionally. Orgasm so good I had to call in sick off work the next day because I needed longer to recover from it.”

It was better for Logan to think that he was pushed out because their ideas didn’t work well together and for him to never know the other stuff.

“Is this still the film thing?” Logan asked.

Roman couldn’t remember exactly what his lie had been about a film but it had been partially true, the film was a shitter, and his own much better idea had been cut off for it. “No- Oh, what, Robot Olympics? No, dad, it’s not about one fantastic idea. It was a culture. There were many of them.

“What would be your dream outfit?”

“I wanna run the damn show. I do. And until it opens up, Chief Operating Officer. But I guess… I guess that’s Frank, huh?”

That was the end of the conversation until the second helicopter ride of the day.

“What’s the Frank situation?” Roman asked when Logan questioned the papers.

“Frank’s out of the picture,” Logan told him.

“Yeah?” Roman smirked.

He didn’t want to be too happy about it but it felt good. Knowing that Frank was gone.

“Frank’s dead,” Logan confirmed.
