"You are a slave, Ratcliffe. You were born to serve the Daleks."
- Remembrance of the Daleks
Chloé Bourgeois cried in the back of her mother's private jet. Losing her position as mayor thanks to Ladybug and the other supers, especially her father. She had all the power and lost it all. Her reputation even worsened in the entire country of France, not just schoolmates or even her half sister Zoé.
They all resisted her and won. Even Marienette her nemesis had the last laugh when her attempt at one last bit of cruelty backfired on her.
Chloé sobbed for minutes until a bright light emitted across from her.
She stopped sobbing as soon as she noticed. Chloé shielded her eyes as the light continued to shine until a figure with two others appeared out of it before the light dematerialized.
With the light gone, she had a clear look of her visitors. An older man with a bit of wild unkempt hair in dark clothing with an aftershave. With his two companions, she assumed they were anyway, what seemed like small metallic tanks with a singular telescope looking eye.
"Are you Chloé Bourgeois?" The man asked.
Chloé wiped her tear filled eyes to save face as she replied in a harsh manner, "What's it to you?"
The man was unfazed as he replied, "My name is Maximus."
"Maximus of Earth-61065 to be specific." He added.
"What are you talking about?" The blonde girl asked, feeling irritated each minute.
"I come from another universe." Maximus explained. "I had been left behind on the dying city of Attilan on the moon by my own brother while he and the rest of the Inhumans had immigrated to Earth. But then, I had been rescued."
He then gestured to the two beings beside him.
"These were my saviors." He said with gratitude. "They promised if I joined their cause, join the Dalek race. The Dalek Empire. I could be given everything I wanted. I could take my rightful place as ruler of Attilan over the Inhumans and subjugate the rest of humanity."
Chloé looked on at this mysterious man with skepticism the more he talked. It all sounded ludicrous. But the most promising aspect she heard was the promise of powers by these so called Daleks.
She was eager to know more.
"And so I agreed," Maximus continued. "And the Daleks in turn have made me one of the top allied commanders for Dakek squads. If you accept, you'll be granted that position."
"And why should I?" The blonde girl asked with skepticism in her tone. "What's even in it for me?"
"Your bargaining skills are highly dubious." Maximus said. "But, we are aware of your failure as mayor of your own country."
"Don't you dare bring that up!" Chloé snarled. "Ever!"
Maximus remained unfazed by the girl's outburst. As were the two Daleks. He simply stared at her.
"I'm simply stating the facts." He simply said. "Think of it this way, you can start over, get back at your enemies and you'll do it with the help of the Daleks."
"And?" Chloé asked, gesturing Maximus to continue.
"What's there to add?" Maximus responded. "That is my proposal."
"I want everything!" She retorted as her temper began to rise. "I want to get back at Ladybug! I want to get back at Cat Noir! I want to get back at my stupid half sister! Daddy! Adrien! And especially Marienette!"
She said with venom and malice in her voice. Maximus stared at her, slightly impressed. If only because he hit on major buttons with his proposal for her to join the Daleks.
"Then you have a choice." Maximus said. "You can join the Dalek race for power and to exterminate your enemies."
He then leaned forward to her ear and said aloud, "Or do you prefer to be ruled under your mother's thumb with nothing to show forever?"
Chloé breathed heavily. It was the last straw. She remembered her mother's words.
" Because of you, we lost face! You ruined our name and our reputation! You had all the powers in your hands and you foolishly lost them. Bourgeois do not raise losers! You think you're going to London on vacation? Dream on! I'm going to take control of your life again, starting with your education."
"Deal!" Chloé shook Maximus's hand eagerly before exclaiming with a Nazi like salute, "Hail the Dalek empire!"
"Then let us depart!" Maximus said as the portal opened.
"Chloé?" The blonde girl heard her mother calling from behind. "What is that noise?!"
Just as her mother entered, she gasped to see her own daughter entering a mysterious portal. Chloé did not even bother looking back to say goodbye or anything as she entered. Maximus however stared at her with a smirk on his face.
He then turned to one of the Daleks.
"Kill her." He ordered.
The Dalek turned around to face her much to her confusion.
"Ex-ter-min-nate!" The Dalek roared as it fired at her-instantly killing Chloé's mother with her body dropping to the floor.
Earth-231163, the Planet Skarro
Chloé and Maximus arrived at their intended destination as they walked through the portal just as it dematerialized with the two Daleks followed closely behind them. They found themselves in a large gray room with a see through glass window.
To her shock, she found more others inside; a variety of people she did not expect. Some adults and some around her age or slightly above.
"While the Daleks are the masters, we are the League of Skarro." Maximus began to explain. "The token commanders when the Daleks need us to conquer a universe especially for specific missions."
"Allow me to introduce our fellow members." He then gestured first to a young woman with light brown skin and white hair covered in armor. "This is Tazma, of Earth-082717."
She nodded at the apparent newcomer.
Maximus then gestured to an adult male with slick blonde hair and a thin mustache who nodded in acknowledgement, as did the others. "This is John Castaway, founder of the Quarrymen."
Next, "Cyclonis, empress of the Cyclonia."
Chloé felt a bit uncomfortable as Cyclonis, the young girl with dark hair and equally dark clothing, gave a cold glare, not helped by the smirk she gave. Even she could tell Cyclonis had a low opinion of her already.
"Mona Bench, otherwise known as Hydro-Woman of Earth-8107."
Chloé was particularly by the sight of a woman in liquid water form as true to her name.
"They promised me revenge." Hydro-Woman said with a sneer.
"Manga Khan of Earth-99. A world where Superman had died."
Chloé eyed on a being in yellow armor, completely covered in it with barely even a face and a blue cape. She was particularly unnerved when he nodded back at her.
"Basil Elks, otherwise known as Basilisk of Earth-38."
Chloé immediately was weirded out by the sight of a bald man with green skin, casual clothing and shards of emerald on his chest. Something he immediately noticed.
"What are you staring at?" Basilisk demanded, sounding borderline offended.
"Nothing!" Chloé hastily said.
"Kanjar Ro of Earth-1114."
Chloé stared at an alien being with pink skin, red insect like eyes, sharp teeth in blue and white armor with gold around such as the spiked shoulder pads and boots.
He grinned at her on purpose to frighten her which she conceded it worked.
"I'm here because I want revenge on Batman and his apparent new girlfriend!" He snarled with a sneer.
"Magister of OtherWorld, enemy of Tara Duncan."
Chloé glanced at a man in dark purple armor with a golden faceless mask complete with a purple cape and hood.
Because of his mask, she could not tell if he was staring at her with which emotion. He only merely nodded.
"Ebon and Hotstreak of Earth-1992, so called bang babies. Or Metahumans."
The one known as Ebon, a literal shadow with white eyes and a gray sleeveless jacket stared at her as did a young man with red hair, resembling a flame.
"We're only in this to get back at Static and getting my crew back." Ebon said with Hotstreak nodding in agreement.
"All in good time." Maximus reassured one of his allies.
"And finally, Alistair Smythe of Earth-92131."
To the disgust of Chloé, next was what she thought was another monster. A gray yellow skin with a muscular body, what she could only describe as weird flesh things on his shoulders and his lower body being something compared to a satyr but reptilian in a way and blue.
"In my case, they promised me to save my father." Alistair said. "And in turn, I will supply them with much technology."
"We're all allies." Maximus said to Chloé. "Don't judge."
He continued, "some of us were saved by the divine intervention of the Daleks. They had saved Cyclonis, Ebon, Hotstreak and of course, myself. All of us healed thanks to our masters and we joined in turn."
"You all believe this?" Chloé asked.
"We have our goals the Daleks promised us." Alistair replied.
"I told you, the Daleks will make all your goals come true if you work for them." Maximus said. "It's only been a month since we were gathered, you happen to be the most recent recruit and there will be more."
He then gestured her to join him looking over what was outside the window. As she did, to her shock; Chloé witnessed a fleet of Dalek ships either deporting or sitting and ready to fly. To her puzzlement however were they more or less resembled flying saucers like the atypical description of a UFO. Except more impressive in design and scale.
"Recently, they successfully conquered Earths 8998, 050297, 092990, 8487, 091288, 090886, 091486 and 091597." Maximus said. "Cyclonis and myself assisted in two of the attacks but the rest they accomplished long before the League of Skarro was formed. The process is still continuing but we managed to exterminate anyone who opposed the Daleks."
He then added, "Even despite the champions of those universes with their own heroes such as this Vytor, the Roos, the Silverhawks, the Galaxy Rangers, Silver Saber, surprisingly a group of mummies…"
Chloé raised her eyebrow at that last part incredulously.
"They were all no match for Daleks." He continued on without missing a beat. "Even when they weren't exterminated, they resorted to hiding like rats when their firepower was weak compared to the firepower of the Daleks. Rebelling still, yes. But all efforts to fight back at the Dalek empire ended in shambles."
Maximus then hissed in her ear for further persuasion.
"Isn't this what you want?" Maximus quietly hissed. "Under your rule, you wanted to outlaw superheroes. Here, you can exterminate them. Exterminate the very type of people you hate!"
Chloé listened with intrigue. She was more than ever sold on this apparent recruitment. These Daleks seemed to be on the winning side.
"Will you join us?" Maximus then asked.
"I accept." Chloé said eagerly. "I only wish to join so I can get back at my enemies!"
"Then welcome to the league." Maximus offered her hand to which Chloé shook it.
Unbeknownst to them, they were watched via video surveillance by the very beings they served.
"They-are-con-tent-in-their-suppos-ed-roles." One of the Daleks said to their superior, a taller Dalek all decked in black and gold; the Dalek Supreme.
"They-will-soon-serve-their-pur-pose." Said the Dalek Supreme. "And-soon-will-be-ex-ter-min-nated-after-wards."
"Earth-07111-has-been-con-qured." Another Dalek informed their superior.
"Make-sure-all-life-forms-of-that-uni-verse-have-been-ex-ter-min-nated." The Dalek Supreme ordered. "And-for-the-Supreme-Dal-lek-to-over-see-op-per-rations."
"And-what-for-the-em-per-ror?" Asked another Dalek.
"Earth-70111-will-suffice-as-a-new-lair-for-the-em-per-ror." The Dalek Supreme said. "Our-so-called-al-lies-are-mere-ly-pawns-for-our-goals. They-were-born-to-serve-the-Dal-leks-and-for-ever-dis-posed-of."
"Un-til-then," The Dalek Supreme continued. "We-will-con-tin-ue-to-use-and-man-nip-pu-late-them."
"They-will-not-sur-vive!" The previous Dalek concurred.
"Pro-ceed-now. And-con-tin-nue-ex-ter-min-na-tion-of-Earth-70111." The Dalek Supreme ordered before chanting, "Ex-ter-min-nate!"
The Daleks joined in on chanting the word repeatedly. Their motto. Their way of life.
5 Months Later...
Earth-231163
A group of strangers had broken into a seemingly normal home at 13 Bannerman Road.
"This feels wrong." A dark skinned girl with curly pink hair said as she joined adults and young teens her age as they walked in. Even a few animals such as a small Pegasus, a fox and what seemed to be a white lion or large cat.
"It doesn't look like anyone's been here for a while." An older woman with red hair with a feather around it, all decked out in an outfit straight from the old west said as she surveyed the surroundings.
"Where are we supposed to meet this contact anyway?" A woman dressed in black leather asked.
"The contact told us they'll meet us in the attic." A man dresses in dark clothing with a fedora hat and a red scarf around his mouth said.
"I think that might be it." A dark brown skinned girl in an all white magician's outfit pointed to the door leading to the attic.
As the group opened the door, they discovered the attic was all around empty. Nothing inside. Just dust and cobwebs.
"So, what are we supposed to find?" A young boy in blue armor and dark hair asked.
"Or even who?" A young blonde girl with a white streak on her head in a red coat asked. "Jane, what do you think?"
"This is a waste of time." Calamity Jane said, annoyed.
"Wait." The woman in black leather whispered.
She approached what resembled a chimney. Curiously, she knocked on it.
"There's something behind it." She said.
"How can you tell?" The young blonde girl asked.
"The chimney's hollow." The woman replied.
"About time you showed up."
The group, alarmed, turned rapidly to a mysterious figure in the dark corner.
"Sorry if I scared you." The figure apologized, her accent being of Northern origin. "But I've been waiting for you."
The figure stepped out of the shadows to reveal an older woman with brown hair wearing a casual business suit.
"And you are?" Asked Calamity Jane with a suspicious tone in her voice as she reached for her pistol.
"First of all, don't bother with the gun." The older woman said. "I'm not your enemy. And besides, I may be old but I can still make a mean batch of Nitro-9."
"W-w-what's Nitro-9?" Asked the dark skinned girl with pink hair, sounding a bit intimidated.
"Second, I know you're looking for the contact." The older woman then said. "Technically, Kate Stewart told me to meet you here. So I'm the one."
"You haven't answered my question, who are you?" Calamity Jane asked.
"Call me Ace." The older woman replied with a small smile. "I kind of like you already."
"Kate told me she and a few others has been keeping an eye on Multiversal activity and you guys have been popping up a few times." She then added.
"I guess we can trust you." Calamity Jane said, now feeling a bit comfortable.
"We can?" The blonde girl asked in surprise.
"I think we're all on the same side." Calamity Jane said. "Ace, I'm Calamity Jane."
She then glanced and gestured to each member of her group.
"This is Cybersix, Shadow, Nelvana, Captain Midnight, Misty Magic, Space Ghost, Mandy Paz, Tara Duncan, Cal, Sparrow and Robin."
Each member either nodded or in some cases, timidly waved-mainly from the younger members of the group.
"Interesting group!" Ace said, impressed.
"Why are we here exactly?" Asked Misty Magic.
"This used to be the home of Sarah Jane Smith before she passed away." Replied Ace. "And that,"
She pointed to the chimney.
"Is her supercomputer Mr. Smith."
"A super computer?!" Tara Duncan exclaimed in shock as did Cal, Sparrow and Robin, given all four knew magic more and not advanced alien technology.
"Then can you activate it?" Nelvana asked.
"I can't." Ace replied. "But I know someone who does."
She then continued, "You guys want to fight Daleks? You're gonna need all the help you can get."
"We'll definitely need all the help we can get." Space Ghost concurred.
Cybersix and the others nodded in agreement.
"Good." Ace nodded in satisfaction. "But there's one thing I need to know."
She then asked, "Where is the Professor in all this?"
Chapter 2: Author's Notes
Chapter Text
Yes! How's that for a surprise? A flash forward to a future multiversal team that will be important in fighting the Daleks.
Details I'll explain a bit in a moment.
- This technically, I intend to do more Dalek gathering and manipulating "allies" one shots in mind. This is like the first wave.
- So originally I was going to start with Golabulous from GI Joe The Movie in how it shows the events of that movie transpired due to the Daleks wanting the BET first provided he succeeds first and he'll give it to them after.
But then they find out he failed and not only they exterminated him for such but downright admit to him before killing him that they were going to betray him anyway and kill the entire civilization of Cobra-La.
Since I did intend for him to come from Earth-1984, I talked with Michael Weyer if there were any plans he had, could I use him and so forth, I even told him I wanted to use him.
But it seemed like he had plans for Earth-1984 that I decided to back off and place the idea on the back burner. Hopefully someday, I'll get back to it but for now, it'll just have to wait another day.
So I settled on Chloé from Miraculous Ladybug instead and it morphed into this, rather than a series of scenes of recruiting and betrayal. And speaking of,
- I settled on Chloé as I found out recently what was going on in season 5 of Miraculous Ladybug and it turned out in a two part episode, she not only took over as mayor of France but made it a fascist country and targeted superheroes-complete with a robot police force which now that I think about it, somebody had Dick Jones from Robocop on the brain with that.
But anyway, she gets defeated, people rebelled, her schoolmates hate her, Adrien aka Cat Noir even told her off in an earlier episode and even her father put his foot down and she gets exiled, just like that.
So the story as to how it began took place after her attempt to have the last laugh backfired on her when Marienette aka Ladybug told off Chloé, basically turning the tide and leaving her with nothing.
All that intrigued me that I thought this would be great for someone the Daleks to recruit and manipulate.
And really in hindsight, her becoming a fascist asshole is something that seemed like the natural conclusion to reach given she's not above being the lowest person imaginable.
- Yes, this Maximus is from the same universe as Spider-MJ, Earth-61065. He's a combination of his comic and MCU counterparts. Though his origin and where he was prior is based on his portrayal in the Inhumans series.
- I debated whether to have Chloé's mom murdered or not, I grew concerned if it was going to come off as "Oh I hate her mom, I want to kill her!" Which, not my intent at all. It was done to show the Daleks not hesitating to kill.
Ultimately I decided to keep it in for that reason to demonstrate how threatening they can be.
- The idea behind the League of Skarro, considering the Daleks are basically alien Nazis, Nazi analogs, I decided to lean into the analog more with an analog of Nazi sympathizers or Trump supporters, either analog works as that's the entire point as well as considering the Daleks use lifeforms to forward their goals and then dispose of them.
So true to life, fascists are not your friends and will dispose of you.
- Some choices were my idea entirely, others Ben2Dartmouth allowed me to have. Basilisk for example was in the Mother's Day special he wrote months ago and Hydro Woman from his Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends Christmas special. Mona Bench he mentioned as a possibility for her real name in the author's notes of that story that, and Ben2Dartmouth okay'd it, I made it official.
He even suggested Manga Khan and the Batman: Brave and the Bold version of Kanjar Ro and in turn, I referenced the Thanksgiving special he wrote that introduced Owlwoman.
- Now just because I do have these villains recruited by the Daleks, doesn't mean they're not free to use. I'm baiting people to use them however they please. Especially if anyone still wants to use Ebon, Hotstreak and Smythe. Be my guest! I want to see what anyone would do with them.
- I'll get into more a bit about Tara Duncan but Magister I included at the last minute as given the flash forward, I had to include him hastily since he's important to a particular idea.
- So to make sure everyone gets it, the list of Earths and where they're from:
Earth-8998 - Vytor, The Starfire Champion
Earth-050297 - Warriors of Virtue. More specifically Tao but for anyone who saw the movie, you get the idea.
Earth-092990 - Widget: The World Watcher
Earth- 8487 - Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Earth-091288 - Denver The Last Dinosaur
Earth-090886 - Silverhawks
Earth-091486 - The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers
Earth-091597 - Mummies Alive
Earth-07111 - Larry Crowe
Now the general idea is that most of these Earths with their own superheroes getting conquered is to provide stakes and why the Illuminati among many reasons have the Daleks as the number one threat to the Multiverse.
For if heroes of certain universes can't even beat the Daleks, what will? Especially if the Doctor is not around?
And yes, I'm inviting every writer to write how these universes got conquered in the first place and/or what's going on with certain characters if they're alive to rebel against the Daleks.
And why Larry Crowe? Well Ben2Dartmouth suggested a forgotten rom com and that movie popped into his head and I like the idea as it seemed darkly funny that I rolled with it.
- So, Defenders of the Multiverse. It's something that's been wracking in my brain as I was inspired by the obscure 80s cartoon Defenders of the Earth and wanted to try something like that so hence that line up that didn't include Marvel or DC heroes. Some from obscure cartoons like Hero High for example for Misty Magic or a legacy hero like Mandy. And even cult classic characters like Cybersix and Calamity Jane and even a pulp hero like The Shadow, public domains like Nelvana and Captain Midnight and Space Ghost.
And for the record this is old school Space Ghost. And yes, including Tara Duncan.
- And speaking of, I debated with myself whether the version of Tara Duncan and her friends be the Moonscoop cartoon or the recent one. And it came down to a mental coin toss and the recent cartoon won. And I did watch a few episodes of the series and it's fun. I like it. Of course I had to rely on…let's say, pirate means to watch it but still.
So ultimately, that version is going to play a vital role in how the Defenders of the Multiverse form. And yes, this is bait for authors to write. You're free to write these characters as you please. They can take on Daleks, Cybermen, Decepticons, etc.
- Which leads to Magister, who is the villain from said series. Don't want to give too much away yet but there's a reason I had him as an ally of the Daleks before the inevitable betrayal he gets from them.
- Now I did have Sparrow originally stutter a few times but as it turned out it seems, the stuttering she had in the Tara Duncan cartoon dropped entirely after her first appearance. Which leads me to believe that was a one time thing because she was shy.
So the only remnant is her asking about the Nitro-9 since, well, she's from a fantasy world and doesn't know about bombs or weaponry.
- Mr. Smith is of course the supercomputer from The Sarah Jane Adventures.
- And yes, the short story Russell T. Davies wrote about the funeral of Sarah Jane Smith I decided to make canon. Hence why the house is empty.
- Ace was a fairly late edition but I was inspired to put her here. I love the character and thought it could be cool to make her a Nick Fury for the Defenders of the Multiverse. Sure, there's Kate Lethbridge Stewart as well fulfilling that role as well. But I imagine Ace would be fun writing.
- And this kind of reveal, I was influenced by the cliffhanger ending of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
- There was going to be an extra scene of Cyclonis discovering Davros in cryogenic stasis but one, I didn't know what would Cyclonis do with this info. Two, I didn't know how I would even leave this as bait for other authors to take on. So I cut the scene.
But...I intend to revisit Davros. So I have him in mind for future stories.
And that's about it. Hope you enjoyed the one shot and again, special thanks to Ben2Dartmouth for his input.
See you soon!
