Chapter Text
(Jedi POV)
One of your first solo missions was to retrieve some Jedi relics from an old temple that had remained lost in the sand until now. There had been a great sandstorm about ten years back that covered up the temple to the top. Now it was said that the temple was beginning to uncover and reveal itself.
You were at the Jedi Order Temple of Coruscant, where you have spent the last 18 years training and following the way of the Jedi. Tossing your well-packed bag into a Delta-7B starfighter, you punched in the coordinates to the temple in Arcana.
This planet was said to be a stronghold for the witches of Dathomir. “Great,” you thought, “never dealt with witches before, this should be interesting.” The flight to Arcana was uneventful, it has been a while since you traveled amongst the stars. It was a great responsibility and honor to train younglings and pass on the way of the Jedi to the young padawans. You were very skilled and well experienced with the force. As it should be expected, due to being removed from your family as a baby and have since been training the Jedi way. There was even a rumor going around that the council was planning on allowing you a padawan of your own to take under your wing. That would have made you one of the youngest Jedi masters to ever live. One can say things were going great. It was your duty to be the guardian of peace and justice. That is the literal Jedi description, so why did it feel like you weren’t doing so? To be fair, you were still very young. All this eagerness to be out there and spread peace and justice made it pretty hard for you to see how good things were. But like they say, you never know what you have until it’s gone.
Once arriving at Arcana, you managed to locate the old Jedi Temple. Stories were told that the witches who lived on this planet allowed the Jedi to build such temple and spread their way in exchange of force knowledge. They were allies in a way, until the Sith poisoned their minds and had them turn to the dark side.
You landed your starfighter about a thirty minute walk from the temple as a precaution. This planet was known for unpredictable weather and you knew it would get very cold at night, so you had to get this job done before sundown. When you reach the temple, you see the stairs leading to the main entrance still covered in sand but one can still make their way in. “Let’s just get this over with,” you mumbled “maybe once I’m back, I’ll be given more outer-rim duties, that might just be the change I need.” Walking up the steps you can see that it is very dark in there, you pull out your blue lightsaber to give you some light. As soon as you look to the ground, you spot footprints in the sand, multiple sets of footprints. This job just got interesting. You make the decision to leave your bag near the entrance to avoid having it in your way. Moving further inside the temple, you begin to look for the relics that you were told contained force sensitive data. Keeping the move down the entrance hall, there is the main room that is said to contain the relics hidden within a statue of the master who originally ran the temple. That is when you hear him.
“I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.” That modulated voice made your skin rise up with chills.
You step in the main room with your saber right in front of you and you see four individuals. The first person closest to you is an armored individual. Right in front of him are three robed up individuals. “Hello, don’t mind me, just here looking for something.” you say, making everyone in the room look right at you. The armored man looks down at you. You are able to take a good look at his helmet and based on its appearance it looks like the helmet of a Mandalorian. You recall reading about them back on Coruscant. You can feel his gaze but cannot see his facial expressions due to the helmet.
“What’s a Jedi doing back around these parts?” says one of the robbed individuals. “Don’t you know this is now witch territory, now that all the Jedi have left the planet.” spits another one at you. You walk in closer swinging your saber in your hand. “If I recall correctly, this is a Jedi temple; therefore, any trespassers would be all of you.” you say back at them. The Mandalorian pulls a blaster out, “I have a bounty to collect, I have no time for conversations, now Drillick the witch of Arcana, which one will it be?” “How about neither? I think the only things being collected today from this temple will be the dead bodies of a Madalorian and a Jedi.” says Drillick.
The bounty charges at the Mandalorian with a spear in one hand the other two witches face your direction. The first one runs at you and you quickly move away pushing him into the wall with one hand using the force. The second one tries to move you using the force. This really took you off guard. Their force usage felt very weak and inexperienced. You regain your steady ground and run at him with your saber, instantly ending him. The other witch gets back up and throws his spear at you. You dodge it and also charge at him with your saber. “That was fast.” you say. On the other side of the room you see the Mandalorian and Drillick still fighting. The Mandalorian pulls his vibroblade and makes a cut on the witch's arm. “Your fighting ways are no match for the force.” he yells at the Mandalorian. “We have been experimenting with the force ever since the Jedi showed u-” You raise him up in the air, choking him with the force. He starts pulling at his neck as if he could physically remove the force holding him up. The Mandalorian stares at you while you do such. Seconds later you finally drop him. The Mandalorian walks up to him and applies a set of cuffs that you’ve seen before. They are a special kind that can prevent force users from using the force. “I had him,” he says to you. “You’re welcome,” you smile at him. He continues to look at you. “So who even puts out bounties for witches?” you ask him. He simply looks at you and huffs and begins to drag Drillick’s body towards the entrance of the temple. “Well then, that’s that I guess,” you say to yourself as you move towards the statue in the center of the room. Right above the writing on the plaque you see a piece of the statue that looks odd. You push that side in and out slides out a drawer with a circular object and a book. Those appear to be the relics. You walk around the room to kill time, hoping the Mandalorian has left and you two wouldn’t meet again at the entrance. Once you think enough time has gone by, you walk towards the front where you left your bag and that’s when you see him. He is leaning against the wall, gazing outside.
He has a mysterious yet intriguing presence. Not too many people make you nervous. You like to consider yourself to be a bubbly person, but something about him is making you a tad nervous. You go to pick up your bag and throw the relics in there. “I’m guessing you found what you’re looking for,” he says to you. You look back and give a small nod, “Yeah, it wasn’t so difficult, could’ve done it with my eyes closed”, you smile at him again. It almost sounded like he chuckled, but it could’ve been noise from his helmet’s modulator. You walk up closer to him and see that he’s staring outside for a reason.
There is a huge sandstorm building up.
