Robert is told that as a baby he was, for the most part, unfussy. However, there would be occasions when he would cry for no discernible reason, only to calm when being fed, even if he had just eaten.
He believes he knows what the reason for those outbursts were, though he will never say. After all, he had learned very quickly to lie about his soul taste as a child.
People would look at him with pity if he said he tasted nothing.
Preferable to the confusion and fear when he said he only ever tasted iron and ash.
