Chapter Text

"... Did my alarm go off yet?"

Kanae turns to look at the clock, "4 o'clock."

With a minor grumble, Kanae moves the blankets and sits up. Moving hair out of her face and rubbing her eyes, she stands up and walks towards the bathroom. Opening the door and turning on the lights-

"Kanae! Are you awake yet!?" Shinobu yells from the kitchen.

'Hm? Oh, right, Shinobu would be making breakfast now.'

"Yes... I'm getting ready right now!" Kanae yells back. Proceeding to yawn and stretch, she takes her toothbrush and starts to get ready for the day.

Kanae quickly brushes her teeth and hair and then changes into her casual turtle neck and long skirt. She puts on her butterfly clips and walks out of the bathroom to the kitchen.

"Finally. I already made breakfast, so hurry up and eat!" Shinobu places a steaming omelet on the table. Kanae smiles and sits down, "This looks delicious, Shinobu."

Shinobu makes an acknowledgment noise and returns to the kitchen to make herself some water. Kanae takes out her phone while waiting for her food to cool.

Kanae decided to scroll through YouTube to see what she could watch while she ate. Scrolling and scrolling down until something caught her eye,

"Huh? When did they come out with a new song? Or is this old.." Kanae clicks the video and checks the date it was posted, "Wait, this was posted a couple of hours ago!"

Shinobu instantly comes rushing out of the kitchen from hearing her sister yell, "Why're you yelling?!" "

"Look!" Kanae shoves her phone in Shinobu's face. Pushing her hand away a little, Shinobu gets a good look at what's on her phone,

"Hm? Oh, I've never seen this song made by them before." Shinobu goes to click the play button on the video.

Kanae smiles widely, "That's because this is their new song! They posted this a couple of hours ago!"

"Huh, really!?" Shinobu, now wide eyes, stares at Kanae, who has a massive grin on her face,

"Yes! Let's watch it! Get your chair!"

Shinobu goes to grab her chair while Kanae rewinds the video. Shinobu, now sitting next to Kanae, presses the play button.

A catchy beat plays as the music video moves along.

Kanae and Shinobu begin to smile as their favorite group starts singing.

As the MV ends, Kanae starts squealing, "I remember hearing that they will have a concert! Do you think it will be this year?" Kanae grabs her phone to see what other new songs they made.

"Probably. They said they would do a concert last year, but didn't! They better do one this year because I've been saving!" Shinobu puffs her chest out as if she's showing how much more money she probably has.

Kanae giggles, "I wonder what the album is called-"

"I wonder too," Shinobu interrupts, "but eat your omelet!"

Kanae's eyes widen, "Oh! Yes, sorry!"

She (regretfully) slams her phone down and stuffs the food into her mouth. Shinobu watches Kanae devour the meal, "Woah! Slow down before you choke!"

Kanae looks at Shinobu before shrugging her shoulders and returning her attention to her food. Shinobu sighs and rolls her eyes. She begins to eat her food, but before she can even get a bite, Kanae is asking for seconds.

Shinobu groans but complies. After eating breakfast, Kanae and Shinobu clean everything and grab their bags. "Ready for school?" Kanae grabs her phone and turns towards Shinobu, "I've seen your grades, Shinobu; they're great! Keep it up!"

Shinobu swings her bag on her shoulder and giggles, "Thank you, Kanae, and I'm ready. Let's go." With a nod, Kanae puts on her shoes and turns on the house alarm. The two exit the house, and Shinobu walks up to the car while Kanae locks the door.

Kanae checks the door to see if it's locked and nods to herself when it doesn't open. Kanae walks towards the car and unlocks it. Shinobu enters the front seat while Kanae enters the driver's seat. Starting the vehicle, Kanae asks Shinobu to play the new album they just listened to.

"Do you think they uploaded it on Spotify yet?" Shinobu questions while opening the app. She sees Kanae nod and hums in the corner of her eye.

A few moments pass until Shinobu hums, "Looks like Cheshire did update their profile on Spotify!"

Shinobu connects her phone to the car and selects the first song on Cheshire's new album. As the music starts, Shinobu leans back, "Who's your favorite member, Kanae?"

Kanae hums, "I like them all! But if I had to choose one, maybe Mako or Tomi!"

Shinobu giggles, "Of course. Me personally, I like Mako."

"You seem like you'd like her." Kanae teases.

Shinobu looks at Kanae unimpressed, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, nothing." Kanae looks at Shinobu and winks.

The two laugh and continue listening to their music. Shinobu leans back into her seat and hums, "They didn't announce anything about a new comeback, right?"

Kanae nods, "Mhm. No announcements, so they surprised us with this comeback!"

Shinobu chuckles, "Maybe they'll surprise us with a concert too."

Kanae laughs, "We're here. I'll see you later, Shinobu."

She nods and waves goodbye to Kanae while unbuckling her seatbelt and snickering. Kanae parks in the teacher's parking lot and leaves her car. With a slight wave towards Shinobu, Kanae approaches the teacher lounge.

As Kanae makes her way, she can hear some of the students' conversations,

"Did you guys listen to Cheshire's new album?"

"Yea, it's so good!"

"Do you think they're actually gonna do a concert?"

"Probably not."

"I hope they do! If they do, I'm getting pre-sales!"

Kanae smiles slightly and opens the door to the teachers' lounge,

"Really? Oh shit!" As Uzui yells that, everyone turns their head towards the door,

"Good morning, everybody!" Kanae smiles, and she walks to her desk.

"Kanae, did you know about Cheshire's new album?!" Uzui walks towards Kanae, showing her his phone.

"Oh yes! Me and Shinobu listened to one of their songs this morning!"

"Oh really! Which one?"

"If I remember correctly. I believe it was called Red Swan."

Uzui darts his eyes down towards his phone and starts typing extremely fast. It only takes a few seconds until Uzui is smirking.

"Found it! Let's listen to it together!"

With some cheering and some complaining since others want to feel different. Uzui clicks the video and boosts his volume to the max.

The familiar beat starts playing before the lyrics also begin playing. The teachers stay silent as the artist sings. Many students pass by the teachers' lounge, and Uzui's phone is loud enough for the whole school to hear, so many students are near the walls of the teachers' lounge.

Three minutes pass, and soon the song ends. Most students walk away while the teachers gather closer to each other.

"That was such a beautiful song!" Mitsuri squeals with a huge grin on her face.

"It was amazing!"

"They make such good music!"

"It was alright."

"Oh, Shinazugawa, don't try and be different! We all know this is your type of music."

Mitsuri crosses her arms over her chest as she stares at Sanemi, who rolls his eyes.

"Whatever!" Sanemi turns away from everyone.

Kanae laughs, "I'll be heading to my classroom. I'll see you all later."

Mitsuri waves, "See you later!"

Kanae waves goodbye and grabs her things. She opens and closes the door and walks down the hall towards her class. Kanae passes by a group of friends she recognizes as Tanjiro and his friends.

"Hey, Guys!" Tanjiro speed walks towards his group of friends,

"Oh hey, Tanjiro." Zenitsu looks up from his phone, "Did you know Cheshire finally made a new album."

"Yep! It's the only thing people are talking about!" Tanjiro smiles happily, "Oo, if they ever do a concert, we should go together!"

Genya deadpans at him, "Tanjiro, they been saying they will do a concert for how long? And guess what, they've done nothing!"

"Oh, don't be like that, Genya! I'm sure they will announce some concerts soon!"

Tanjiro pouts and dismisses Genya's rude remarks. The three walk down the hall, passing the teachers' lounge. As they pass, loud voices inside the room shout at each other.

"How about we go out to eat tomorrow? It's Saturday tomorrow, so that we can go out for lunch!" Mitsuri smiles innocently as if it's a way to manipulate everyone into saying yes.

"Oo! That's a great idea, Kanroji! We should do that, yea, guys?" Rengoku turns towards everyone else.

A series of sures and okays are heard all around the room. "Okay! I'll text everyone details in the group chat later!" Mitsuri thinks of a place to eat for lunch while everyone talks to each other.

"Hey, how about we invite Tomioka?" Uzui ask.

"Plenty of 'What no!' were exchanged.

"Aw, but why guys?" Mitsuri pouts slightly.

"Because the guy never replies in time, or does he even show up if he says he will!" Sanemi spits out.

"Yes, that's true, but ever since he quit his teaching job here, he hasn't been in that much contact with us in five years." Rengoku sighs, realizing how long five years can be.

"The fucker barely makes an effort to talk to us. We should kick him out of the group chat and see if he notices." Sanemi scowls.

"Oh Shinazugawa! Don't be like that!" Mitsuri slaps his shoulders. To her, it seemed light, but to Sanemi, it was like a punch. Sanemi winces at the power behind her slap.

"Maybe a lot has been going on for him. Let's at least try and invite him this time." Rengoku smiles gently and opens her mouth to say something until Uzui rudely interrupts him.

"Holy shit, guys, Cheshire just fucking announced they're having a concert."

Everybody snaps their head towards Uzui, who announces the shocking news. It takes a few moments for the words to process, but when it does, one single word explodes out of everyone's mouth.

"What?!"

Chapter Text

"I'm home." Giyuu takes off his shoes and closes the door behind him. He walks to the kitchen to make himself a glass of water. Makomo looks at him and smiles.

"Finally, everybody is freaking out by the concert announcement!" Sabito walks up to Giyuu.

"Ticket pre-sales are in a week!" Makomo adds.

Giyuu chugs the water down and stares at Sabito and Makomo before speaking, "Obviously, they would be surprised. We've been canceling concerts left and right. I'm surprised they don't think we'll cancel this one too."

Giyuu sets down his glass of water before walking off, "I'm going to take a shower. Do we pick the songs, or does the company?"

Makomo stretches her arms, "The company is picking our group songs. We can pick our solo songs."

With a curt nod, Giyuu walks away to take a shower. Sabito watches as Giyuu walks away, and he turns to Makomo, who is staring at him. Makomo giggles, "Sabito, how long do you think the company will let us prepare for the concerts?"

Sabito rolls his eyes, "Hopefully, at least a month or two."

Makomo hums and grabs the TV remote. Sabito frowns, "I was gonna watch."

Makomo leans back, "Too slow."

Sabito scowls and turns away, grabbing his phone.

"Alright! Please pick up all your things before leaving!" Kanae stands up from her chair.

The sounds of students packing away and pushing their chairs in don't bother Kanae as she packs her bag. Kanae quickly pockets her phone as she sees the kids leaving the classroom. She moves in her chair and speed walks towards the teachers' lounge.

Maneuvering around students and bumping into some, Kanae finally makes it to the teachers' lounge.

"Pre-sales for the concert is in a week, guys!" Kanae announces as she shuffles into the room.

"I know! I'm so happy with the news! I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!" Rengoku cheers as he keeps his eyes locked on his screen.

"Maybe we should cancel lunch tomorrow since everyone will be tired the next morning." Sanemi chuckles at his own joke.

"Oh! Shinazugawa, does this mean you're also a" Mitsuri purposely draws out the following words, "Cheshire fan?"

Everyone laughs while turning towards Sanemi, who is already radiating anger, "As if you pinky mother fucker."

"Hey, speaking of lunch tomorrow, where are we eating?" Kanae looks towards Mitsuri, who returns a look.

"Oh, I texted everything you guys need to know about!" Mitsuri ushers everyone to check their messages.

Uzui hums, "The place seems flamboyant!"

Kanae smiles as she remembers she and Shinobu ate there before. Someone burst through the door before she could tell everyone that the food was good.

"Kanae, are you done talking yet? I've been waiting for like twenty minutes already!" Shinobu, who is standing in the doorway, has a beyond-pissed look on her face.

"Shinobu, Yes! Sorry! Sorry, everyone, we'll be leaving now!" Kanae blushes slightly as she rushes to pack everything.

Rengoku laughs, "Alright. We'll see you at the concert!"

Obanai scowls, "Don't you mean lunch?"

Kanae laughs slightly before she and Shinobu go to leave.

Getting home takes little time, although the traffic could be less. In no time, Kanae and Shinbou are at home.

Kanae and Shinobu enter their house, "I'm gonna go shower Kanae." Shinobu mumbles as she takes her shoes off.

"Okay! Don't take too long." Kanae walks ahead of Shinobu, but Shinobu sprints past her with a small shout of 'Okay!' following her.

Kanae sits on the couch and unlocks her phone to look at the teacher group chat again.

Kanroji: Alright! Everybody better be there tmrw!

Shinazugawa: What time was it again

Iguro: Can't you backread or not?

Shinazugawa: stfu

Uzui: let tomorrow be a flamboyant experience!

Rengoku: stfu

Uzui: 🤨

Shinazugawa: LMAOO U JUST GOT TOLD TO SHUT THE FUCK UP BY RENGOKU

Iguro: IMAGINE.

Uzui: STFU IM SURE IT WAS A MISTAKE

Rengoku: it kind of was!

Uzui: KIND OF???

Tomioka: I'm sorry, guys. I can't make it to your lunch tomorrow.

Kanae eyes widen, "Tomioka! He actually said something in the chat! Oh, but he can't come to lunch." Kanae's expression seemingly dulls a little.

Uzui: holy shit its tomioka

Shinazugawa: no fuckin way

Iguro: We was gonna kick u out yk

Kanroji: Iguro dont say that! He doesn't means that Tomioka!

Tomioka: its fine.

Uzui: We're having a conversation with the TOMIOKA GIYUU??

Shinazugawa: what a universal experience!

Kanroji: Ignore them Tomioka, why can't you come?

Tomioka: I'm busy.

Iguro: You've been "busy" for the past 5 years?

Kanroji: Iguro!

Iguro: sorry.

Tomioka: Actually yes. I'm sorry.

Rengoku: It is okay Tomioka!

Kanroji: Yes it is!!

Kanroji: we all just miss you! You havent been talking to us in 5 years!

Shinazugawa: *most of us

Tomioka: I'm sorry. I've been trying to talk to you guys, but i've been busy.

Rengoku: Maybe next time you can join us!

Kanroji: Yep!! Join us next time!

Tomioka: Okay. I have to go now.

Uzui: Already? Unflamboyant!

Shinazugawa: Have fun in ur social bubble

Iguro: don't talk in this gc ever again

Kanroji: Bye bye Tomioka!

Rengoku: See you later Tomioka!

Kanae: Bye Tomioka!

Kanae smiles until a booming voice echoes down the hall.

"Kanae, come and take a shower!"

After hearing that, Kanae nearly jumps out of her skin, "Okay!"

She gets up and starts walking towards the bathroom. She walks past Shinobu, who has a towel wrapped around her body. Shinobu walks towards her room until someone stops her. She turns around and sees Kanae holding a finger to her mouth.

"If we do get tickets to Cheshire's concert, don't tell Kanao! We're making it a surprise for her!"

Shinobu's eyes widen before nodding, "Okay, got it."

Kanae smiles before turning around and entering the bathroom.

Giyuu sighs as he sinks into the couch.

"What's wrong with you?" Sabito teases as he sits next to Giyuu.

"Remember Rengoku and them?" Sabito nods as he turns on the TV.

Giyuu huffs, "They're hanging out tomorrow, but I can't go."

Sabito looks at him, "Who said you can't?"

Giyuu sits upright before turning to him disappointedly, "The company, Sabito. You know how strict they can be."

Giyuu turns back around so his back is facing Sabito. Sabito groans, "Well, it's not like they know you're Tomi. We wear a mask that covers half our face, so nobody knows who we are."

Sabito pops a chip in his mouth before he continues to speak, "Just try and convince the manager to let you go."

Giyuu sighs as he pulls out his phone and starts to text someone.

"Who are you texting?"

"The manager to let me hang out with my other friends."

"Did he respond yet?"

Sabito looks at Giyuu, who suddenly wears a hopeful expression.

"Actually, yes he said.."

Sabito watches as Giyuu's face falls a little,

"He said no."

Sabito frowns, "Ah. Well, better luck next time!"

Giyuu hits Sabito hard in the shoulder. So hard that Sabito falls off the couch.
