Work Text:
For Sherlock’s birthday, John decided to throw him a party at 221B. Mycroft dropped by earlier, probably so he didn’t have to rub elbows with the unworthy, which was for the best, really. And John and Mummy had agreed over the phone that Sherlock and him would come over for a Sunday roast the day after, so that left them free to celebrate with the rest of their loved ones at home that day.
Mrs. Hudson made Sherlock’s favourite cake, and Greg brought a fancy bottle of Prosecco for the toast. There was also Molly, and her new boyfriend, who resembled Sherlock only slightly. Mike Stamford had accepted the invitation as well, much to John’s surprise and delight. John didn’t let it show as much as he probably should, but he was immensely thankful to Mike for bringing the birthday boy into his life.
When the moment came for blowing out the candles, it took them some convincing to get Sherlock to keep quiet and behave while they all sung to him.
After Sherlock had sliced the cake, John planted a kiss on his cheek, tremendously proud of loving this wonderful man. At that moment, John knew he'd celebrate him and cherish him every day for the rest of their lives, and wanted the whole world to know it, quite badly.
