Work Text:

The day didn't look like it would have any interesting events, she assumed it must be because she isn't classmates with Emu anymore...she had to admit that it's sort of weird to hear the class be so silent.

Even so, she doesn't mind that much. Her current class sounds amazing too, since she's classmates with her bandmate, so it's not like she's worried about anything happening.

The bell finally rung, making her thoughts disperse. She figured she was not sure of what to do that day, she finished all her work and didn't have to go to Kanade's house so she didn't have to worry about buying something after school.

She had free time then.

Ichika, her bandmate, walked to her and smiled. "Hi Honami! Shiho and Saki asked if we could meet to have lunch together at the rooftop like yesterday?"

Honami took a moment to think, before shaking her head. "Ah...maybe tomorrow? I was thinking of spending lunch with someone else right now." she explained quietly with a small smile.

Ichika nodded in understanding. "Are you going to see Asahina-senpai?" she asked with a tilt of her head.

The drummer's cheeks immediately warmed up. "H-hehe...is it that obvious?" she smiled with mild embarrassment at being discovered. Ever since the brunette started dating her two partners, Leo/Need was the first to be informed about it.

Ichika chuckled. "A bit." she said with a teasing smile. "Tomorrow it is then, have fun with Asahina-senpai!" the band leader grabbed her lunchbox and waved at her friend before walking out of the classroom.

Honami smiled weakly at Ichika, before sighing. Is she actually that obvious...?

There was no time to think about that, though. Lunch breaks weren't that long and the 3rd year classes are a bit far away, although she was sure she would find him there since he tends to help the teachers.

She could buy something for him to eat, since she was ninety percent sure he hadn't eaten today, but decided against it. She had apple pie she had baked at home and Mafuyu didn't ever show any distaste to it, maybe even a faint satisfaction. They can share it without any problem, although she'll try to remind him to have dinner.

She walked through the halls with a mission on her head. Shoes echoed through the halls as she did her best to avoid stumbling into some of her upperclassmen. During her walk, she saw Shizuku and they had a silent conversation with their eyes, the drummer ended up pointing upwards, signaling the rooftop. Shizuku quickly ran towards it.

Honami giggled as she kept walking, although she maybe should of had been paying more attention towards where she was walking.

She only saw purple hair before she closed her eyes.

"E-Eek-!" "!"

Honami gritted her teeth as she felt a sudden weight crash on her chest and chin. The only reason she hadn't fallen it's because she's physically strong, the same could be said for the person she crashed into, because their step only wavered for a second before they attempted and almost failed to stay firm on the floor.

Honami was the first to apologize. "Ah! I'm so so so so sorry!!!" she took a small step back while her hands hovered over the shorter person, now that she payed close attention; they do look a bit unsteady...

"I-It's okay." the person looked up. "...Honami?" her boyfriend's eyes widened slightly, although they did seem like they're about to close.

Honami squeaked in surprise, but her stunned expression quickly turned into a beaming one. "Oh, hi Mafuyu! I was um- searching for you, sorry for crashing into you though..." she murmured in a apologetic tone.

"No, it's fine." Mafuyu shaked his head, but the movement made him lose a bit of balance. "U-um. What did you need from me?" he asked quietly, glancing around to see if anyone was paying attention to them, finding none, he locked eyes with her.

As she stared into his eyes, Honami narrowed her own. Why did he look so...dazed? she lowered her gaze slightly, looking at...the faintest eyebags under his eyes, apparently having been covered with makeup.

She had apparently been staring too much, because Mafuyu looked away and shifted his weight.

She giggled, embarrassed. "Sorry- Um. Mafuyu?" he slowly went back to maintaining eye contact with her. "Have you slept well tonight?" she asked softly.

Mafuyu scoffed. "I had a meeting with my group. Like always." the tone is supposed to be more firm, but his voice came out soft.

Honami took a deep breath. She sometimes forgets she now has two sleep deprived partners to fuzz about.

She bit her lip as she reflected. She really has lots of friends with horrible sleep schedules.

Oh! that gave her an idea!

Honami smiled gently. "I see, of course. Then, Mafuyu, would you like to have lunch with me?" she offered without any hint of expectation, not wanting him to feel forced.

The lyricist tilted his head. "Lunch with you...? don't you always have lunch with your groupmates?" he questioned, confused.

Honami giggled. "Yes. But I want to spend it with you today, you can say no if you aren't feeling up to it." she reminded softly.

Mafuyu put a hand on his chin, deeply thinking about what to choose. Honami waited patiently with a smile on her face.

He shrugged. "I don't mind." Mafuyu concluded. His tone softened a bit, "spending time with you it's always warm."

Honami had to keep herself from doubling down and squealing. Instead, she giggled nervously as she felt her cheeks flush. "Okay. Give me a second then we can go."

Mafuyu nodded.

Okay. Honami quickly fumbled to grab her phone and text her best friends to leave a spot for the pair, if they're a bit far away from the rooftop entrance then it would be better. After all, she prefers when Mafuyu doesn't feel like he has to mask.

Ichika was the first one to reply with an "okay!" and a smiley face.

Perfect! they got confirmation!

She smiled and offered her hand to Mafuyu, who only stared at it expectantly.

Honami quickly backtracked. "A-ah! you don't have to...!" she was about to retract her hand but Mafuyu grabs it at the last second. She still shuddered at the icy feeling of his hand.

The purple haired boy smiled, looking genuinely apologetic, maybe even mildly embarrassed. "Sorry. My brain isn't cooperating with me right now. Let's go." he mumbled, getting closer to also wrap his other hand around her arm.

Honami hummed, eyes fixed on him with concern. Still, she already had a plan, but they needed to get there first.

The walk towards the rooftop was nice. Even though Mafuyu's hand unwrapped from around her arm after they started to encounter more students through the halls, instead they were only linking pinkies. But that's fine, Mafuyu seemed content with it anyways. Honami also couldn't help but worry a bit about the people who were staring at them sometimes, she knows they probably aren't questioning anything but it still makes her a bit anxious.

Mafuyu briefly commented about it. "You get scared when we're together with other people." he stated a fact bluntly.

Honami laughed nervously at the very false (true) accusation. "Hehe- do I?"

"Yes."

She deflated. "I know...sorry I can't help it."

Mafuyu hummed and the pair silently agreed on leaving that conversation for another time.

Finally after reaching the rooftop, Honami held open the door. Mafuyu didn't comment, but he looked mildly amused.

Honami smiled as she noticed the empty bench her group always used. She properly grabbed Mafuyu hand again and gently walked with him towards it.

She sat on it, then pointed besides her. Mafuyu sat beside her without thinking too much.

Honami grinned and patted her lap.

"E-eh?" Mafuyu jumped in place, surprised by the sudden silent request.

The drummer continued to smile. "Mafuyu, you look exhausted. Here, have a small nap and I'll wake you up when class starts." she explained gently, although this time a bit more forceful. Concern laced her voice.

Oh. Honami does this too with Kanade...tricking her into sleeping.

Mafuyu almost groaned. "I thought we were going to have lunch..."

Honami face softened. "Are you hungry, have you eaten today?" she asked worriedly.

The lyricist sighed. "I'm not hungry. I ate with Kanade today." he admitted, now not having a reason to deny her request.

"Good job!" Honami exclaimed, eyes sparking with proudness. The softest of smiles on her lips.

The lyricist did groan that time. "Don't patronize me..."

Honami's expression turned serious in record time. "It's not patronizing. I know that sometimes it gets difficult for you two to remember or to feel like eating, so I'm glad you two ate today. Was the food I made good?" her tone softened again at the end, looking at her boyfriend with a tiny grin.

Mafuyu looked away, the faintest of blushes on his cheeks. He nodded. "Okay. I'll sleep for a few minutes, but you need to wake me two minutes before the bell rings, alright?" he said seriously, although with the way he had tried and failed to cover a yawn didn't help his cause.

She chuckled. "Mhm."

"Honami."

"S-sorry yeah. I will."

Mafuyu nodded, taking that as a good enough answer. Slowly, he managed to lay down on the bench but hesitated with letting his head rest on his girlfriend's lap.

To get him out of his head, she gently moved her fingers to run through his hair.

He tensed at first, but after a few strokes he melted into the touch, letting his head rest limply on her lap.

After a few minutes, his breathing evened out.

Wow...he really must have been exhausted.

With her free hand, she grabbed her phone and clicked on her girlfriend's contact.
