Work Text:
Shiv could feel her mothers looming presence, she could feel the air shift as Caroline entered her space.
“Mom,” She greeted, choosing not to look at her. Caroline had been spreading rumours all night and Shiv wanted to show her disapproval greatly. Caroline hadn’t taken their discussion earlier seriously so she wanted her to take this seriously instead.
“Hmph,” Caroline sounded displeased at the Americanism which Shiv enjoyed. “Shiv.”
There was no name, no kind gesture, like her precious Romey. Shiv wondered if she had ever touched him. She knew Caroline wanted to. She had known since birth, the way Caroline stared at her favourite child was nothing but healthy. Shiv knew this was her vice instead, since she couldn’t have Roman and she didn’t want Kendall, she took Shiv.
Shiv splayed herself out on her mother’s bed. The room had a draft, like Shiv had purposefully purposely picked out. She felt nippy, chilly, as she lay waiting to be touched.
Caroline’s hands were equally as cold as they took her clothes off.
Shiv refused to make a sound as their skin touched, as the touch turned into something other, something wrong, completely dirty.
She left as Caroline smoked a cigarette afterwards.
They didn’t say goodbye.
Shiv smiled at Tom as she crawled into their bed. In their warm room.
