She Found the Beauty in Their Darkness

Summary:

“You will not be going anywhere, Lily,” the demon whispered against the nape of her neck. The pearly fangs just brushing against the warm skin sending shivers down her back at the closeness of the demon. Her breaths getting deeper as chills ran through her body. “You cannot go back to where you came from, Lily. And why would you leave us? You have everything you could ever want right here at your fingertips.” He lifted Lily’s hand to caress his face, his glowing eyes gazing into her own blue one’s, attempting seducing her.

Lily wretched her hand away from him and stepped back, resolved in the face of the powerful demon. Aware of the remaining Kizuki behind her. Waiting for the moment to grab her.

“I know I can never go back. That doesn’t mean I have to stay here with you ! I didn’t sign up to have a soulmate let alone so many of you! I will simply leave and go somewhere you can never find me. Nothing you say or do will make me change my mind!” she screamed at them.

Muzan smirked, his red eyes glistening with mirth at the woman.

“Then we will just have to change your mind, my beautiful soulmate. By any means necessary, for you belong here with us, for eternity.”

Chapter Text

Chapter 1:

It started out like any other day in Lily's life. She woke up at 6AM on a Saturday which coincidently also was always the busiest day of the week for her. Fed her adorable cat that was more likely than not plotting the female's demise if she didn’t give him food fast enough. After that, she took a run out in the quiet neighborhood and did some quick grocery shopping.

As Lily was getting out of the car, she put her keys in her mouth so she could grab the two more than full paper bags. Making her way into the house she dropped the bags on the island of the modest kitchen and grabbed the cat toy from the bag she knew the cat would love. For all of 3 minutes, if she was lucky.

Sometimes, Lily admits she feels like such a slave when it comes to her cat. But then again, he is so cute and adorable that it all was surely worth it! How could anyone resist his cute face and squishy paws and the irresistible checkered belly of his!

She shook the banana toy with a bell in the air, “Mew! I got another of your favorite toy! Come and show your most devoted some attention here!”

The cat more often than not liked things that were phallic in nature. Hotdog toys, bananas, tubes, balls that rattled or even gave treats.

Her vibrator that she swore never to think of again lest she be traumatized all over again.

The 4-year-old male Toyger, Mew, came running from the kitchen like a pack of hyenas were chasing after him, meowing up a storm.

Lily squealed and rushed to pick up the gorgeous boy, squshing him into her generous bosom. “Mewie! My most beloved most preciously cute boy, oh how I love you. Did Mommy do good? I know, I was a terrible mom throwing out your other toy, wasn’t I. Such a bad mommy, but mommy had a reason for this. It was all ripped up and didn’t have any more kitty weed in it. But I bought this nice new one so you can forget about being mad at mommy and forgive me, okay?”

The cat looked at her.

Then the toy.

Then back to Lily.

Deadpan stare.

The honey blonde pouted, “I’ll play that video of you beating up that boxer from a few houses down.”

Still deadpan stare.

“I’ll give you an extra helping of tuna for dinner tonight.”

Deadpan glare of doom came out from Mew’s green eyes.

Lily sighed, knowing that it wouldn’t be easy after committing the unthinkable. “I’ll also arrange for you to meet your girlfriend, Lizzie. Would I be forgiven then?”

Mew meowed cutely and pawed at her leg. Begging for cuddles.

It was her turn to deadpan.

Of course, Lily's cat was getting more action than she was. Most people would be on the floor absolutely crying their eyes out if the truth came out that their pet (Master) cat got laid more than them. But not Lily, for she was made up of stronger stuff than that.

She will just cry into her pillow later wondering why she had such bad luck with men. An ongoing mystery that has left her wondering for most of her life.

Lily always considered herself to be a rather fun individual. She loved to sing, dance, and knew how to be an independent woman. Never needing a man to get any work around the house done and even had a few hobbies that were generally more male dominated than not.

Of course, that might have been the problem in the first place. It's hard looking for the perfect someone when there's 1 good person out of 10 for all the people someone meets.

A warning scratch on Lily's shin cleared her mind of the bad thoughts and made her think of what was important.

The cute baby Mew! Who is named after the legendary pink Pokémon of cuteness.

He meowed again making her giggle and lifted him up like the adorable baby he was. Cradling him in her arms and watching him play with his new favorite toy. But in the back of Lily's mind, she was thinking of what was really wrong with her.

Her name is Lily Briar. She is a socially awkward 23-year-old female recluse who lives the state of Vermont. If someone were to look at her you would be thinking how could somebody who looks like her be socially awkward. Then again, no one should ever judge a book by its cover. While Lily may have honey blonde hair, ice blue eyes, and an hourglass figure many would die for, there was a lot on the inside people don’t really find out unless they interact with her.

For example, she really doesn't understand sarcasm. Lily is very blunt, often to the point of rudeness even though she considers herself to be quite polite. She doesn't believe in wasting time or energy on lying or to be something she isn't. It’s really hard to understand if someone is joking with her or not, and she knows her eagerness to appear normal and interact with people can be quite off-putting. Sometimes, she gets so eager it comes across as creepy which often drives people away other than the creeps who often see a cute young girl and think they can pull some shady stuff.

Not that it led anywhere, for she could take care of herself. She knew martial arts, boxing, and put a bullrt between a person's eyes before the second vowel hit their lips. She was taught at a young age not to take shit from anyone for anything.

Her family growing up isn’t what someonr would have considered traditional, she grew up with just her dad who may or may not have been on the autism spectrum, which led her to have a unique upbringing to say the least. But filled up with just as much if not more love than other families she knew. He taught her how to take care of herself, which most people learned in their 30s. She grew up hunting for food, learning survival skills, learning self-defense, and even grew to be a better marksman than even her dad! He was so proud of Lily when she won best marksman in the state, beating all the other contestants who were all men.

Her dad was really great. He never asked her if she wanted a mom or even needed one because she never did. He was the one who taught her what she needed to survive and taught Lily how to be herself. If someone didn’t like her for who she was then to hell with them. She did well in school with his support, had a few close friends, and even dated once or twice. Of course, the relationships never really led to anything major because they were horny teenage boys who just wanted to get their dick’s wet, but hey you live and you learn.

Unfortunately, he died two years ago doing the thing he loved most. Hunting. A few of his hunting pals said that he went off to ‘take a leak’ and when they went to find him after he was gone awhile, they found him lying on the ground. He had died of a heart attack at the age of 42. He lived life how he wanted to live and told Lily to never have any regrets. To do what she loved and he hoped that one day maybe she would be lucky enough to find someone who loved Lily for who she was and to not settle under any circumstances. That man had a heart of gold and never judged her. He was the best parent she could ever have asked for.

She got more into her hobbies and lived her life how he would have wanted her to have. To let go of strangers’ expectations, but to this day she still has difficulty letting go sometimes. Making friends wasn’t her strongest suit and sometimes trying only to be rejected can be really tough. People also thought it was weird how much time Lily spent watching anime and reading manga. Or even watching shows and then immediately reading fanfiction afterwards was weird. But hey, they asked what she did on her free time so if they don’t want to know the answer why ask? I mean, right?

She always loved it how she could immerse herself into another world and truly see another person’s story even if they weren’t real. Nowadays, every protagonist has a little quirk that makes them special, unique to only themselves that truly makes the story alive.

If Lily were to have a quirk, she would probably have to say her horniness is the first thing that comes to mind. Or the fact she gets very cuddly and cat like the more she drinks or gets sleepy. People always acted so scandalized if a female had more than one partner, or actually liked to have sex, or had sex before marriage or anything that was considered ‘improper’. If someone were to see Lily's sex toy collection or her anime porn collection they would probably die of embarrassment.

Or Lily, even though she was socially awkward doesn’t mean she don’t know how to be embarrassed.

Like how she literally started digging her own grave in the backyard when she was 15 when Lily's dad caught her masturbating to a yaoi fanfiction between two of her favorite characters in Naruto. Her dad could not stop laughing and actually peed himself when she laid in the hole and told him to help her bury herself.

She swears he upped her allowance so she could get some ‘stuff’ online so she didn’t get any weird ideas in her head.

Not that that hasn’t happened before.

She looked at her watch and noticed the time. 9:04AM. "I might just have some time to watch some Demon Slayer before I have to record my next session! Yay!" She cheered.

She worked for herself as a voice actor for some rather…. adult anime films. Since Lily could speak English and speak fluent Japanese due to her obsession with manga and anime it really helped her find a lot of work. Luckily, she made enough money that she could live comfortably and her father’s inheritance left her enough money to pay off the house and keep up with her hobbies without having to live paycheck to paycheck.

That will be an interesting conversation if she ever did get into a relationship with someone. What do you do for work? Oh, I am a voice actor for adult anime films where millions of people cum to the sound of my voice! No wonder, she's still single.

Pouty face.

“Which episode should I watch? Should I start at the beginning again?” she mused, tilting my chin up and to the side.

It would make sense. She hasnt watched demon slayer since the new season started and the best way to watch a new season is to review all the previous content to refamiliarize yourself. Even though the first episode is so sad!

“Hell, yes I should!” she cheered, happy at the thought of watching more of one of her favorite anime.

Even though the author should have really paid more attention to the plot to give it more substance and actually gave more of the demon antagonists more screen time than literally only living one episode/season. But yeah, isn’t that what fanfiction is for? To put all our wishes and desires on a public platform for others to view, enjoy, and ridicule. She is talking about you, freaking online gremlins, who only write shit to make people feel bad about themselves so they can be as miserable as you! There is such a thing as constructive criticism and not downright blatant insults to make someone miserable and give up on their writing making the readers more than a little pissed off! She has had many of her favorite fanfiction stories left incomplete or even deleted because of those menaces. If you don’t like it don’t read it. Leave the story for those of us who appreciate it!

She rushed up the stairs in her bare feet and leapt on the top of her fluffy bed. Patting the bed, she called out to her cat. “Mew, come join me we are watching Demon Slayer!”

The cat leisurely came into the room swishing his multi colored tail back and forth. He jumped up on to the bed beside Lily and found his place right by her feet on his special little soft pink blanket. He meowed up at his Lily and she eagerly scratched his head. Loving the special bond, they shared as cat and pet human.

Quickly rummaging around the covers, she found the black remote and turned on the t.v.

Immediately, the theme sound of demon slayer, Gurenge, started playing.

She squinted at the television, confused. “Hey, I wasn’t watching this last night. Why is it playing? What!?- “she yelped.

The t.v glowed a sinister green color and started sparking. Making Lily whimper and try to hide under the covers, grabbing Mew and trying to protect him from the light.

The cat yowled angry at the noise the t.v was making.

“What the hell is going on?” she cried, helpless as the t.v turned into an air sucking vacuum trying to draw her in.

“Am I freaking dreaming? Mew save yourself, don’t worry about me!” she cried, trying to get her grip on the covers as the vacuum from the t.v got stronger and stronger.

The comforter ripped off the mattress at the force of the wind and at the last possible moment she grabbed her cat and stuck in him in his cat carrier. In the closet Lily managed to find her survival bag, gun bag, and threw most of the contents of the closet in a suit case.

She put on her trusty combat boots and braced herself against the vortex coming from the tv with all her bags and the cat. Ready to face whatever the hell was going on.

“All right, come at me whatever the hell you are! I’m not afraid of you!” she screamed at the tv.

The tv sucked Lily into the green light. As she lost consciousness all she could think of was that she hoped her kitty was okay and that she didn’t forget anything important.

Not knowing that this moment was the start of a whole new life for her.

Chapter Text

It had been four months since Lily was dropped unceremoniously where she currently was. Four long excruciating months since she was sucked into her television with her cat, Mew, with no warning. The green vortex that ultimately transported her into the world of Demon Slayer. Something that she only read about in fanfiction.

Not that she had too much to complain about.

Then again, reading something via fanfiction or hidden chat rooms online was completely different then experiencing it in real life. For example, if she hadn’t grabbed her bags at the very last moment, she would have been completely screwed. In more than one sense. The vortex ended up dropping her in the middle of rural Japan with no phone, no map, and no clue of where she was with a furiously meowing cat who was not happy about being knocked around in his carrier.

It didn’t take her long to start booking it to the nearest piece of civilization she could find, which was a to her, a small town, to others one of the biggest towns in the prefecture.

Luckily, Lily was fluent in Japanese, so she was quickly able to find someone to talk to about where she was. However, what she didn’t count on was that the woman was scandalized by her appearance and thought she was a prostitute, which she quickly denied. To her, wearing a cute light blue baby doll tank-top and black leggings was normal. The local populace, however, thought she was showing too much skin. The stares were also quite nerve wracking to her, which she could understand from their perspective. A blonde woman wearing strange clothes, a completely foreign race, and carrying a lot of baggage that would be hard for most women to handle.

She could understand the strangeness. She was used to it. People just couldn’t handle her awesomeness. It was their loss.

It took her a month to get used to her new life. You would think that Lily would be freaking out and begging to go home by this point, but she thought of this as the first step of a new adventure. Somewhere where she could let loose and be herself, living on her own terms, and be the independent woman that she was. And maybe find a boyfriend while she was at it. One that her precious kitty would approve of and maybe even let pet him. If they were worthy of the sheer adorableness.

It didn’t take long for her to notice other culture shocks that she couldn’t have prepared herself for that did make things challenging at times. Challenges that an independent woman living in the 21st century would definitely struggle with at times, or even try their very hardest not to beatdown the locals.

She was in the world of Demon Slayer, which was based in the Taisho period of Japan the early 20th century. Foreigners were strictly regulated in Japan and the locals who didn’t live in the large capital cities rarely if ever had even seen a foreigner, much less a woman like herself traveling alone. The fact she could speak fluent Japanese was startling to others as well, for Japan at this time was segregated from the rest of the world that it was surprising something like her would learn a whole new language.

In the first month, she was reminded that most people did not have an education and only those from wealthy affluent families would have the means to educate their children. Women were expected to have a strict role in life. Women were expected to be demure, quiet, and submissive the men and elders in her life. To marry a male who would bring pride and honor to the woman’s family at an early age and be expected to bear as many sons as possible with little regard to their own wants and desires.

To Lily, she was the antithesis of what was the standard of beauty and what a woman should be in the Taisho era of Japan. While her ice blue eyes, and blond hair were exotic, her slightly tanned skin and well-formed curvaceous hourglass figure were deemed as flawed which put a damper on her self-esteem at first. But after getting over that slope, she really dedicated herself in building her own home with her own two hands and making a life for herself in this new world she was in.

It was hard looking for a job at first, since women typically didn’t work as they were the main caretakers for their families and jobs who did hire woman were typically hostesses or servers which paid very little which did not work for her.

It was pure luck when she was taking a short walk toward the town’s local bakery where she came across a wanted poster that posted a bounty for a man who had stolen several kilos of stored goods from the local chief. She grabbed the poster and after asking around town for any sightings or descriptions of the man when she went looking for him. It took her not even an hour to find him and delivered his tied-up form to the local chief who was shocked that a young woman was able to find him and so quickly. While his advisors disagreed with paying her as they thought she couldn’t do it herself and she had to have had help she quickly dissuaded them with shooting her gun not an inch from the most vocal one’s ear. The man who had been tied up had whimpered and begged to be taken away from Lily as she frightened him. Demonstrating to the other men that she was no wilting flower to disrespect.

Her skills that she honed since she was a child were truly a blessing in this new life of Lily’s. Her sense of tracking and marksmanship really gave her an edge on how to survive and even made a job opportunity for her that was unheard of for a woman.

Bounty Hunter. A person who would accept missions from local lords, wealthy merchants, and even leaders of smaller villages who needed to find, kill, or even solve local problems. Due to the job having a high threat of personal harm or even death, the pay was great and could even be negotiated based on what happened during the mission.

Overall, something she wouldn’t have done back in her world, but here in the world of Demon Slayer she didn’t have to worry about being sued or having to hold herself back from giving them a good pounding. She did notice how she was much stronger here vs her world and her senses are off the charts, but then again that’s an anime trope for you.

With that first bounty she was able to head into the city to buy much needed clothes. She and the female shop owner had an exciting time designing some of her outfits. She didn’t like the 1910’s western fashion so she instead made something that would make her look the part of a bounty hunter. She first started with a long black trench coat that would over most of her body (with pockets!) Then she asked for a western male styled button-down no-sleeve shirt to form fit her body that showed just the hint of her cleavage. For pants she asked for shorts that would stop just short of her thighs, so she had range of motion for her work. She also privately asked the female owner if she could make her some unmentionables that would keep her girls in check and how to make them with some other item (lingerie!).

After she was done at that shop, she headed over to the local shoemaker to have some nice black leather thigh high heeled boots, dagger pumps, and even some cute black heels with white bows on them for special occasions. The owner was even able to recommend her to a shop that mainly dealt with horse supplies to make a harness for her custom made to fit her guns and even the two katanas she had made for her. (Thank you Deadpool! I will do you proud!) They weren’t the special swords the demon slayers used, just regular steel, she wasn’t going demon hunting anytime soon.

In the next few months, she traveled across the country taking bounties and getting quite the reputation. The type of stories that made Lily puff out her chest and grin with pride. The stories followed in her wake of the lone woman who was a hunter of man. A woman who would be there one moment and in the next be gone. A single light in darkness, who beckons those who hide in shadow.

Lily didn’t know where the last one came from, but she knew better than to question rumors and gossip of the local folk. She knew living a nomadic lifestyle would draw endless whispers around her along with her strange coloring and style of dress. She was fine with that, if anything it had her drawing in high paying clients who knew she could do the job and when to be discrete. And when to make the loudest commotion possible if the situation called for it. Like when she hunted down a man who was wanted for stealing from his new wife’s family to run off with his pregnant mistress who was the maid of the girl. She quite enjoyed that job as she dragged both the man and woman to the wife’s well-off family in the middle of the town, making sure everyone saw and humiliated them. After a little bit of interrogation, it was soon revealed that the man only married his wife to get close to her father and make off with the money for his real bride the mistress. The mistress soon confessed that the child wasn’t his and was instead the local butcher’s child. What a scandal that was.

Currently, she was just finishing a job to track down a man who stole the deed of his neighbor after disputing that the land was his. There had been a local trial by the village leader who determined that the land rightfully belonged to the neighbor and not the thief. The man’s father had sold his land to the farmer over twenty years ago and the other man was still salty about losing part of his inheritance. The old man who hired her had become something of a gold mine of information as he had connection to several other towns, so she took this job at a bit of a discount for him. The man was also a complete Mew fan who fawned over him almost as much as she did, so she left her precious kitty with him while she was taking this job. The last known sighting of him was just on the outskirts of Asakusa which would later be known as Tokyo. Her job was only to track down the deed, her client didn’t care what happened to the man, only that the deed to his land and the source of his livelihood was returned to him. No skin off Lily’s bones that’s for sure.

She had found the man just about to hop onto a train in Asakusa when she caught him, roughed him up a little, and grabbed the deed. Lily also somehow ended up with train ticket and she figured why not as it would be a faster way to get to the town. ¾ of the way would be done by train rather than on foot, which she was all for. Ooh, even first class!

Lily had just sat down in the first-class cabin of the train in her own private room and taken off her trench coat when the door that separated the compartment from the hallway opened.

Lily looked up with a smile, “Hello, can I help you?” she choked on her own spit when she realized who was on the train.

All her thoughts and even her breathing fell silent when the young dark headed male came into the compartment and sat down in front of her on the other seat. Gloved hands sitting on his knees as he leaned forward his blue eyes wide and the pink tips of his hair came within inches of Lily’s face.

“I have never seen someone like you before!” he crooned, his smile showing a hint a fang in its depths.

“I take it you have never met an American before, have you?” she asked, crossing her legs and arms in her seat.

“No, you are the first foreigner I have ever met. Your blonde hair, tanned skin, and blue eyes are truly a bewitching combination!”

Lily giggled, growing comfortable with the demon in front of her. Knowing his curiosity would get the better of him and his hunger would be momentary sustained.

“Such a flatterer. My name is Lily Briar,” she said holding out her hand.

Enmu stood up, taking her hand in his gloved one. “It is an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance this evening, Ms. Briar. You may call me Enmu,” he whispered. Bowing over her hand he kissed her wrist just above her pulse point.

As his lips touched her skin a momentous shock went through his entire body jostling his form to only crash into the window on Lily’s right.

Lily yelped, feeling the shock and grabbed her own wrist, trying to sooth the ache that remained. Little did she know that on the back of her neck was a little mark that showed proof of what just occurred between her and the demon.

Enmu started to giggle madly, slowly removing himself from the window to turn towards the startled woman. His eyes now showing the kanji indicating his rank and a gentle pink blush spread across his face with the biggest grin she had ever seen.

Okay, now she was a bit scared. Maybe she bit off a bit more than she could chew.

But how the hell was she supposed to know she would run into Enmu?!

“My mate!” he cried, ecstatic. Blue eyes glistening with unshed tears. His gloved hands now pressed against each other to the side of his head.

Were those fucking hearts in his eyes?!

Oh fuck, Lily thought.

Chapter Text

Lily didn’t know what to think. Her mind was surprisingly blank, something she had never thought possible.

What should have been the loud sound of the train’s engine was instead sheer silence. All the surrounding sounds around Lily were muted around her. Instead, her wide blue eyes were held by Enmu’s own blue gaze, his eyes keeping hers locked, unable to stray from him. Her throat closed up when she tried to swallow the saliva that built in her mouth, not knowing what to do.

Was he hypnotizing her?! Sending her to sleep with his blood demon art?

Enmu could not believe what was in front of his eyes. Tonight, he had been on this train to find a delicious human or two to feed on, maybe even a marechi when he had come across the most mouthwatering smells he had ever encountered. Enough so that he immediately started to salivate, unable to control himself in front of the humans surrounding him. He had to rush to a quiet corner to compose himself lest he reveal himself to many humans moving about the station. The smell hadn’t been something he had ever smelt before. The faint scent of lily was recognizable, but the other earth tones and another scent he could not place made it unique. The other scent, for lack of a better term, smelled…...rather arousing.

It smelled better than a woman on the precipice of her moon cycle, when they were at their most fertile. When their blood was the sweetest, and their pheromones at their highest to attract potential partners. Something he had learned when he was imitating a doctor to better have access to potential patients he could hypnotize.

What was strange about this scent was that it didn’t make him hungry as a normal marechi would. And Enmu knew this was a marechi, there was no mistaking that sweetness. Instead of making him hunger to devour the being, eating their flesh until there was nothing left but bones it made him…. aroused. Something he thought would only happen around the master after witnessing his power and presence. He was infinitely curious about this individual so he followed the scent through the air, following it through the train past many people to the 1st class carriage.

When he opened the door, he had withheld a gasp from escaping his lips as his eyes widened at the creature who sat within. Sitting on one of the seats was the most beautiful and exotic woman Enmu had ever seen in his entire existence. This was no normal Japanese woman, no, this woman was clearly foreign, possibly European by her coloring and facial structure. Her long hair was the color of softly spun gold that would no doubt shine in the sunlight, its rays only to make her hair glisten. Even in the moonlight coming from the window, her hair glowed in an ethereal hue that made him breathless. Her eyes also caught him by surprise, for they were an icy blue that were lighter even than his own, and captured his gaze in hers. Her slightly darker skin showing evidence of the sun’s rays, a true creature of light was this one. She was wearing a very revealing outfit of skin tight black trousers that outlined her toned legs, revealing heeled boots that could serve as a weapon at moment’s notice. Her blouse was a pearly white with buttons that did little to contain the generous breasts that they covered, showing just the top of her cleavage but promising so much more to the demon’s gaze.

The woman seemed just as shocked to see him. However, after speaking with her he could not believe what happened after he had placed a gently kiss on the lady’s soft hand.

After receiving quite, the shock that made him crash into the window, his form splaying against it with much force, he started to giggle madly. Not believe his luck, that he had been blessed in such a way after so many years! He has met the very partner to his soul! How exhilarating!

“My mate,” he cooed, his voice raising to a high pitch with his giddiness. “I never thought that I would be blessed in such a way. That the almighty would grant me the ultimate blessing such as a soul mate, I am indeed fortunate. Oh, I am so happy I could die right now and I would only expire in sheer ecstasy!” He reached out his hands to grab ahold of hers, only for her to finally react and try to get as far away from the demon in the small compartment as humanly possible.

Not that she had a chance to get away from him, she was only human after all while he was a member of the twelve Kizuki. Just her luck.

“Mate? What are you talking about? And keep your hands to yourself!” she yelped, trying to evade the grasping hands. Not knowing what was happening.

This is not how she imagined meeting her first character of demon slayer would turn out to be!

He pouted, disappointment that his mate didn’t want to touch him. “Surely, you know what a soul mate is. It is after all the most rare and beautiful phenomenon to happen to someone in their lifetime. To touch someone and instantly know that they are your most perfect match, souls that are destined to be intertwined in both life and in death. Some people even have dreams about their destined mate, unfortunately I was never one of them. It doesn’t matter though, for you are here and I have been blessed with such a unique and beautiful creature such as you! To see you here, out of all days, and know that out of anyone in the world we have been destined to be together. It is so poetic a being of darkness such as me forever linked to a being of light, for that is what you are, my Lily. With your golden hair the color of the bright sun, clear blue eyes that put shame on the bluest of skies, and your tan skin that smells so enticingly of the sun, it’s enough to make me breathless!”

She sweat dropped, a little embarrassed at the sonnet Enmu had practically sung to her. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks! Something she absolutely hated when it happened. People would always poke fun at her that it was so obvious when she was embarrassed and how they could cook eggs on her cheeks they were so hot. Or how it reminded them of an anime character, well at least now she would fit in with the rest!

“I am a stranger to you, and I have no clue what you mean about soul mates or being ‘destined’ for each other. I am just a regular woman making a living for herself.”

He shook his head, “If you don’t believe me, I will just have to show you.” He started to unbutton his black coat.

Lily stuttered, frantic at the sight of the demon undressing in front of her. “Stop that! What are you doing? Don’t strip in here!” Not caring how the little voice in the back of her head encouraged the demon as inch by inch his skin was revealed to her eyes.

Enmu’s tilted his head, his eyes meeting hers with a blush. “I am showing you the name that is now on my skin from meeting my soul mate. Since our skin has touched, I will have your mark on my skin. I can’t wait to see it.” He finished unbuttoning his jacket and pulled his white shirt to the side, revealing the mark he had mentioned.

It was her name Lily Briar that was on the left part of his chest just over his heart.

Without even thinking she reached out her hand to touch the mark on Enmu’s skin, softly caressing it with her finger.

Enmu let out a moan, shivering at the touch of his mate. His heavily lidded eyes looking down at hers as she glanced up at him, startled at the moan.

“Did that hurt?” she asked.

He shook his head, still holding open his shirt. “No, it is actually very pleasurable. You can say it’s a bit of a sensitive spot. Your name on my skin, permanently branded into my very being. It makes my non-beating heart race.”

She quirked a brow, “A demon admitting to feeling something for a human? That must be a first.”

Enmu grinned, his fangs gleaming. “So, you did know what I was. I should have known, are you a slayer?”

Lily shook her head, “No, I am a bounty hunter as I call myself. Someone posts a reward for missing property, locating a person, or even investigative work and I would fulfill the job. I don’t associate myself with the demon slayer corps, even though I know what they are. And you are the first demon I have ever met, lucky you,” she teased.

“And me being a demon doesn’t bother you? That I consume humans in order to live?” he inquired.

“No, if anything that should say more about my character than it does yours. While I may love animals, I still have to eat. Every piece of meat I cook had to be killed same goes for you. Though I am still a bit skeptical of the whole soul mate thing, that’s something I have only read about in stories. Some very cheesy ones if I have to tell you the truth.”

Now that Lily has come down from her initial panic, she was definitely seeing the positives rather than the negatives at the moment. Or it was her libido that was starting to make the decisions for her.

Enmu sitting in his seat with his black coat undone, white shirt unbuttoned, and him looking at her with mooning blue eyes the pinkest blush was doing things to her insides that she was sure he was able to tell with his sense of smell.

She could feel herself start to slick.

Oh no.

Bad Lily, bad. Not the time to think naughty things.

Judging by the way Enmu’s blue eyes with the letters lower one blew wide, she knew he had smelled her arousal.

Maybe she could have a little fun now that she knew she wasn’t in danger.

Well, a little bit of danger.

However, that just made it all the more exciting to Lily.

Here she was with a partially undressed twelve Kizuki member she was highly considering of having sexual relations with. On the first night they had met. With no protection. Or warning.

Oh well, you only live once, right?

One of her deepest fantasies was coming true and what else could a woman do but go for it?

Keeping her gaze locked with Enmu’s she gently used her finger to brush against one of the blue and yellow square marks on his cheek. He gulped, his breathing faltering as she used her finger to gently map out his face with only one of her fingers from his cheek all the way down to the name that was now permanently etched onto his pale skin that glowed moonlight.

“Lily?” he stammered.

She merely smiled at him sweetly, getting up from her seat to stand in front of the demon. Sitting down his head came up to her chest, getting a very generous view of her cleavage as she bent down to whisper in his ear.

“You have no idea what you’re in for,” she said.

“Huh? What are--??!!”

She lifted her left leg to kneel beside Enmu before quickly lifting her right to now be crouched over him, not quite in his lap.

Enmu grasped her hips in a vice grip, not believing what was happening in front of him. That the deliciously bold creature now sitting in his lap above him was his mate and teasing him with her body and scent. Making his manhood harden with want.

She giggled, feeling the demon’s rapidly hardening cock beneath her and feeling giddy with want. She leaned down and licked Enmu’s ear, a teasing flick of the pink tongue against the shell. When she felt his breathing changed, she moved down from his ear down to the column of his pale throat, slowly kissing the white flesh down to his pulse point.

“Please, my Lily. My body is yours to do with as you wish,” he begged.

She kissed her way back up his throat, leaving the tiniest of love bites. Finally, she reached his mouth, leaving the gentlest of pecks on his lips with her red tinted ones.
“I don’t its very fair you’re the only one partially dress,” she said.

She slightly lifted herself, using her thigh muscles to raise herself up. She teasingly started to unbutton her white top to the demon’s disbelieving gaze.

Enmu didn’t know what great dead he did in another life or what god made him meet this enchanting goddess above him who was teasing him so. Who was as at this very moment disrobing herself in front of his eyes, his eyes never straying from his mate’s chest which was slowly revealing a very strange, but very erotic chest binding made of black lace that framed Lily’s breasts beautifully.

Fully removing herself from the white blouse, she reached behind herself to untie the laces at the back of her bra making sure to provide a nice show for the demon in front of her.

With a final tug the chest binding came free and Enmu’s eyes were greeted with the most perfect breasts he had ever seen. Each was a generous handful and were lightly tanned like the rest of her skin the cutest pink nipples. Raising his hands from his mate’s hips he gently grasped each one with his palms and messaged them, mesmerized by their softness and buoyancy.

Lily bit her lip, loving how Enmu was playing with her breasts, not grabbing them or manhandling them like males have done in the past. No, his touch was perfect.

She quickly got off of Enmu’s lap, startling him with how quick she was. She could clearly see the erection that Enmu was sporting and she was eager to see it outside of those pants.

Those needed to come off. Now.

She knelt down between the demon’s legs and with a look ordered, “Pants. Off. Now.”

Enmu quickly followed the order, eager to see what his mate would do. His arousal overtaking his body and leaving him at the tender mercy of his mate.
The picture Enmu made was one that would last in her mind forever. Sitting there in the train’s compartment cushioned seat with no pants with a black coat and white button-down shirt hanging off his body was a vision. Something that made her even wetter.

His erection stood proudly between his legs a good 7 ½ inches and had the cutest little pink tip she had ever seen.

She used her hand to gently grasp the cock, bring it to her lips and releasing the slightest of blows on the tip where she knew it would be the most sensitive.

Enmu’s hand reached over to the side, crushing the wooden arm of the seat, releasing a harsh breath. His eyes never leaving hers and she finally sunk her lips down onto his cock and started to gently suck. Using her tongue, she alternated between licking the pink tip and then sucking Enmu’s length down her throat where she didn’t have a gag reflex. Enmu’s gasps was music to her ears, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to do this for long. As she sucked, she could feel herself getting more wet, sure that her panties were now soaked as she could feel her juices flow slowly down her pants.

She roughly released Enmu’s cock.

Enmu looked at the golden-haired woman and whispered, “Please, my mate. Don’t tease me anymore. Let me please you. I am your slave to do with as you wish. Please, anything you want I will give it to you.”

Lily stood up on shaking legs, soaking now. She used her thumbs to hook into her pants and dragged them down her hips, down, her legs to the floor. Each inch unveiling itself to Enmu who had to dig into the seat as not to pounce on the woman. Covering Lily’s pussy was the smallest piece of material Enmu had ever seen that was the same black color as her chest binding and was soaked with her juices.

Enmu was slowly being driven mad by his alluring mate who he now knew was a goddess he was meant to worship. Her body driving his to heights that he had never experienced and he knew that he will be happily die for this woman, anything to please her.

Lily climbed back onto Enmu’s lap. She grabbed Enmu by the back of his black and pink hair and kissed him with a ferociousness that left Enmu absolutely besotted. He moaned into the kiss grabbing the back of her head as his tongue surrendered to hers. Being dominated by her in every way and loving each moment of it. She slowly started to grind her hips into his, rubbing her now soiled panties and core on Enmu’s cock, each ridge leaving eager promises of what was to come.

“Rip it off,” she demanded. Not wanting to wait a moment soon.

Without hesitation he ripped off her panties in one smooth motion. Keeping her gaze on his, steadily grasped his cock and rubbed it against her folds, teasing him.
Then she fully impaled herself on his cock. Making them both cry out in ecstasy. She bounced on his lap, not able to believe the absolute pleasure she was receiving form Enmu. His cock hitting every part of her, making her walls spasm with every thrust and leaving her gasping for more.

Enmu couldn’t believe the feeling of his mate, Lily. She was so warm it was like he was melting with every thrust. He just wanted to crawl inside her and never leave. She smelt so absolutely delicious, her juices gushing out of her and leaking onto him. Marking him with her scent, oh how he can’t wait to release his seed inside her marking her in turn. Oh, how he was so already in love with her. Knowing that nobody would be able to compare themselves to his goddess. He couldn’t tell if this was a dream or really happening. It was more than he had ever hoped for.

“You feel so good, Enmu, I’m gushing everywhere,” she gasped out.

“You are absolute perfection, Lily. The way you are squeezing me is making me lose every bit of my control to not come, I don’t want this to end,” he said, grasping her bouncing form, meeting each bounce with a thrust.

Her hair was encasing his head in its curtain, making him see only her face and hearing her gasps as she worked herself over him.

She grabbed at his shoulders, “More, I want more. Harder. Harder!” she demanded.

With that he lost every bit of control he had and he started to use his demonic strength to fuck his mate, making her scream in ecstasy, reaching the deepest parts of her.

“Enmu, I want you to come inside me. Paint my insides with your seed, please!” she begged.

Enmu nodded, his face red with excretion as he worked to please his mate. “I’m going to leave my seed inside you, it will be dripping out of you for days, reminding you of me and warning all other demons not to touch you. Lily, oh how much I am going to enjoy the rest of our lives together.”

He thrusted faster, wanting to make her come before him, needing to feel her tight walls squeezing him, strangling him in her hold. With a final hard cervix hitting thrust, she came on him. Her walls squeezing his cock in a choke hold and she bit hard into his shoulder making him cry out with his fangs gleaming as he came inside her, unleashing several spurts of seed inside her with his cock still twitching in the aftershocks of their lovemaking.

Lily started to laugh, startling Enmu who did not expect his mate to start laughing with his cock still inside her.

“I did not expect to just come off of a job, only to meet a demon, discover I’m his mate, and then have very passionate sex with him all within an hour of meeting him.”

He giggled, charmed at her humor. “I did not anticipate this either, but I am blessed with one such as you. Though it has been more than an hour, it is almost sunrise.”

Lily blinked, shocked at what Enmu just told her and looked out the window. Sure enough, it was moon was just descending meaning morning would soon be upon them.

She turned back to the demon, unsure of where to do from here.

“I am going back to Kamakura. Next time you’re in the area, you should look me up,” she said cheerfully as she left Enmu’s lap and pulled back on her clothes.

Enmu look amused, never believing a woman could get ready so quickly. “I had intended for you to join me, but I know that your work is important to you. So, I shall see you soon, my dear. But I will warn you, next time I see you I won’t be leaving your side. I’m afraid you are stuck with me forever,” he gushed, hands held together and his eyes sparkling at her.

She sweat dropped, “Maybe I should have thought this through.”

“Too late!” he said.

Yeah, no shit Enmu.

The next week Lily was sitting on the stone wall next to the marketplace crocheting some of her cute crochet plushies when she was approached by a young mother wearing a striped kimono with a small child next to her and a baby swaddled on her back.

“Those are so cute! Are they for sale?” asked the pretty young mother with a smile.

Lily looked at the small pile of plushies next to her and then at the little girl who was bouncing in place in her cute little persimmon color kimono.

She hadn’t intended to sell her plushies. Crocheting had always been a small hobby Lily only did when she was really bored and today, she was almost bored to tears since she didn’t have any jobs for the day, and she wasn’t really in need of any money. She could still barely move from her little *ahem* meeting with Enmu. She was sore as hell, but she has been the most sexually satisfied that she’s ever been. She did have to buy some special oils though since even she knew that she must have smelt like Enmu and didn’t want any demons to smell her and get curious. She was actually very much looking forward to seeing Enmu next and knew that they would need to get used to each other but hey, no risk no reward. Maybe even next time she will last an hour before pouncing on him. Then again maybe not.

Back to the situation at hand, she knew not to just offer the plushies though since she knew the locals didn’t really believe in charity and it would seem weird if she just started handing out toys to children. Especially since she was a foreigner.

Stranger danger was real, even if the someone would rather eat their own hand than harm a child.

She smiled, “Which one would you like, little one?”

The little girl tilted her head and pointed at the little pink cat plushy. “That one! I want the kitty!”

Lily picked up the cat plushy and gave it to the little girl. “Here you go. But it’s a little baby kitty so you must take special care of it.”

“Now, what do you say Kimiko?” asked the mother.

“Thank you and I will take extra special care of the baby kitty!” smiled the young girl, revealing a gap where a baby tooth had fallen.

So adorable.

Oh boy, there goes my inner baby clock. Stop that Lily, she thought.

Lilly giggled, quickly finishing up the green mini frog plushy she had been making. “Here you go, for the child trying to escape his prison.”

The mother quickly looked behind her and startled when she realized her son had been wiggling out of his swaddle on her back to get at the yarn that was in the woman’s hands.

“Oh! Thank you. How much?”

Lily asked for a small price that the woman readily handed over and went on her way with the little ones, each waving at the foreign woman with the pretty gold hair and blue eyes with her waving back at the children.

As soon as the woman and her children had left Lily quickly got overrun by a group of women and children who all wanted to buy the plushies she had with her. In less than an hour the plushies were all gone, and she was saying goodbye to her last unexpected customer.

“Thank you so much! I have never seen toys made like this; you are very creative!” said the woman wearing a pale kimono. Her hairstyle was in a practical bun and her face had little make up.

Lily looked down at the plushy the woman purchased, a deep vibrant red lotus flower that was perfect for cuddling.

“I was just making these as part of my hobby because I have no current jobs at the moment. I am happy that people like my plushies so much though. It was unexpected.”

“Well, I am glad you did. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have such a cute gift to offer my lord at tonight’s event. Thank you again for your hard work and I’ll spread the word on these terribly cute plushies.”

They both bowed to each other, and the woman went on her way. For some reason though, Lily felt uneased. She couldn’t understand why though.

She shrugged, none of her business.

Lily packed up the little remaining yarn she had left and returned to the inn where her cat was. Knowing that if she was late feeding him, she would be in a lot of trouble.

Later that night

The hall was decorated with fresh candles and fabrics that covered the room with color and light. Incents were lit leaving faint trails of smoke in the air. A few men and women played instruments on either side of the room, faintly so as not to disturb the procession leading up to the dais at the back of the hall where each person bowed as their lord followed the carpet leading up to his stuffed cushion. His black and gold headpiece covered the center of the top of his head leaving a trail of his platinum blonde hair behind him. His long-sleeved shirt and striped hakama pants, his usual common wear, was covered by a long black robe that gently brushed the floor as he made his way to his cushion, finally taking a seat and crossing his legs. Elated at facing his precious followers and being there to listen to their most precious memories and heartbreaking life woes.

“Good evening, my most precious followers! I am eager to hear all you have to say, and I am proud to declare that tonight a few of my followers will achieve my most precious gift to them and achieve paradise!” he cheered. His beautiful kaleidoscope eyes shining with glee.

The whole hall cheered and clapped for their Lord, eager to hear who the lucky ones were who would achieve the most ultimate honor in their small community. Many even had tears in their eyes at the sheer hope that they could finally escape from suffering and at last be given peace.

The even went on like every other. A name would be called up and the person would make an offering to the lord who would either take it or have a servant close at hand accept the item on his behalf that would be used in some way for the cult. Often the gifts were food, flowers, cloth, or even embroidery made by the women hoping that their lord will call their name to receive enlightenment.

“The last one tonight that will at last experience paradise will be young Kimi. Thank you everyone for your gifts and I will see the lucky few shortly in my chambers,” said the leader.

The followers in the hall left quickly, not wanting their Lord to be kept waiting and many envious of the few who will achieve their dream of paradise.

Young Kimi waited outside the screen door of her Lord’s chambers with her gift in her lap. Hoping that the Lord will like it.

“Kimi, our Lord will see you now. May you find your Eternal Paradise,” the bald manservant said.

“Thank you, and may you too find Paradise as well,” she replied.

Kimi walked through the screen door and bowed before her leader.

“Greetings, Lord Douma. Thank you again for letting me achieve my dream of Eternal Paradise. I am eternally grateful and wish to present you a gift,” the woman said, so happy she was tearing up.

Lord Douma opened his golden fan and fanned himself, happy at seeing his follower so overjoyed.

“I will accept your gift, young Kimi.”

The woman passed the bundle over to Lord Douma, leaving it just in front of him, not daring enough to touch the god-like being so casually.

The platinum blonde lifted the bundle and put it on his lap. Eager to see what his disciple was offering to him.

He unwrapped the bundle only to see a lotus made up of….yarn? It was a deep red in color and Douma eagerly wanted to squish it!

“It is so cute! Where did you get it?”

“I got it at the market just outside of the compound, Lord Douma. A young woman was selling them, a foreigner with the lightest blue eyes and blond hair the color of gold.”

Douma laughed, “She sounds interesting. She must be to make creations such as this.”

His eyes met his followers, his smile widening showing his pearly elongated fangs.

“Thank you for the gift, and now I will gift you Eternal Paradise within me.”

He quickly absorbed the woman into his body, being so quick she didn’t even know what was happening.

He didn’t want to savor his meal tonight, he wanted to play with his new toy!

Douma picked up the red lotus, which ended up being so soft and squishy. It made him giggle and squished it against his face, taking a deep inhale next to the plushies softness.

Only for his rainbow eyes to dilate and his pupils to elongate like a cat’s. His breathing deepened as he shoved the plushy deeper into his face, trying to absorb the scent of the plushies maker into his body.

“Well, isn’t this interesting. I have never smelled such a unique marechi before.”

He brought the plushy over to soft cushioned bed and quickly disrobed before jumping between the sheets. He brought the plushy to his face to catch more of the maker’s scent.

It was floral, with hints of earth, and very unique. Not knowing what he was doing Douma started licking the plushy with his tongue and biting it, unable to stop the instinctual need to mark the lotus with his scent in any way he could. Before long he had turned over onto his stomach while hugging the plushy and started to rub his erection on the lotus plushy, marking it with his arousal even further.

He imagined what this woman would look like. His follower said she was a foreign woman, possibly European, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin. Not hard to miss in a crowd and close by. He would send some of his followers to find the make of this toy, yes, he would because she had made him want, made him desire for something different in his life that hasn’t changed since he was a human child. The scent of this woman has made him feel something, something he couldn’t quite place, but knew that he wanted it. And he would have it.

He imagined himself taking the woman, tears running down her face and himself licking them away as he gave her untold pleasure. His demonic body giving her body more stimulation than a human could. Soft thighs that he would grip onto and hold in the air as he paved his way inside her body. Use his hands to mold her breasts and suck/bite on them while he thrust inside her body. Before he knew what was happening, he felt, something wet on his hand and realized he had released his seed onto the bedsheets and on the plushy. No matter. For he knew soon enough he would have the real thing.

First, Douma would welcome her to the Eternal Paradise Cult, possibly make her a follower.

Then, he would fuck her until her body could no longer handle him.

And at the end, he would consume her and release her from suffering to live within him forever.

He was looking forward to the next coming days.

Chapter Text

“It’s official. I am totally and complete lost,” Lily deadpanned.

Mew meowed, agreeing with her statement. He was in her pack that she was carrying with her since she never left on a job without her necessities. The male Toyger even adding insult to injury by patting the blonde woman on the head as if saying ‘you did your best, that’s all we can ask for’.

Smug cat.

He was lucky he was adorable.

She had taken a job in town to find a few men that had gone missing the past few days. Normally, their wives wouldn’t think to much of this as they went hunting in the woods all the time to provide for their families. What was strange about this instance was that they had all left in a group and no one had returned from what was supposed to have been only a day long hunt.

Something wasn’t right.

It didn’t take her long to follow the trail that the men had left. They left out through the eastern gate, went up the road that was in between two fields of rice, and then up a dirt trail leading up the mountain. The woods on the mountain were a popular hunting spot because of the abundance of wild boar and deer, something that the locals relied heavily on due to being so far away from another town. Lily quite enjoyed the venison jerky the local butcher made and one of the hunter’s wives made the best tonkatsu that they even sold at a local shop.

If there was one thing Lily appreciated, it was good food. She had never been a picky eater so whenever she had the opportunity to try a new cuisine or food item, she was all for it.

“How could a big group of men just disappear with no warning?” she murmured.

She walked further into the forest, the thick tree trunks and prickly brush leaving it hard to navigate but nothing to strenuous. The further she went in the darker it seemed to get. She knew venturing out at night came with its own dangers. Lily didn’t care though, for she had more important things to worry about.

Like the whole thing that happened with Enmu that still made her blush when she thought about it. Was she really so brazen that she jumped at the first attractive male that she saw, even though he was one of her favorites!? Lily was also thrown off by the whole soul mate debacle, which was something she had only read about in either good or really bad fanfiction. The whole electric shock thing had been off-putting to say the least, at least she knew that wouldn’t be happening again. Hopefully, she wasn’t in one of those tropes where she ended up being the mate of more than one person or she would be in for a world of headaches.

Her temple pulsed at the mere thought of it, it would absolutely suck if it was with a demon slayer and a demon, or even with Enmu and another demon. Aw man, she didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with this right now.

She knew that sooner or later Enmu would find her, or she find Enmu with her luck. Which she has discovered to be much worse in this world than her previous one.

Lily also knew that sooner or later she will have to deal with the fact that she was now considered ‘mated’ to a member of the twelve Kizuki. After asking a few of the local women, she learned a few things. First, in Japan having a soulmate was considered incredibly rare and a blessing for the individuals and their families. There had even been instances of marriage of people of different castes because of how it was considered blessed by the gods. Tales similar to beauty and the beast or Cinderella are what came to mind of either a person from the nobility and a commoner marrying because of this so called ‘miracle of nature’.

Second, the males would always have the name of their soul mate that would appear on the skin above their heart while females would typically have a mark of some kind on their neck. Lily had no clue what hers was because it was considered to be rather scandalous to ask someone to tell them what their mark is besides their mate. If a woman had more than one mate, she would have just one mark, but it would have subtle signs of more than one mate. If it was lines, there would be however many lines for how many mates she has. If she has a flower, the petals will show the number of mates she would have which would be similar to other types of marks.

Third, there was also no getting out of the mating, once it’s there, its there for life. Being mated was as good as being married, in some places being mated was considered even more formal and binding than marriage. So, Enmu’s reaction kissing her hand on the train might not have been so out of left field, for him that is. The women that spoke with her explained that most people dreamed about having a soul mate, for they were their perfect match in every way and to go against it was to go against nature itself. Also, with Japan being such a formal and polite society touching strangers really wasn’t done so when a mated couple found each other it was even more wonderous.

Lily has accepted that she would be connected to Enmu for as long as she was alive. For how long, no one knows. This world was just as dangerous if not even more so than her old one. Illness, disaster, violence, and demons ran rampant in Japan which could eventually lead to her death.

She also learned that a soul bonded were to die it would drive their mate insane. Their soul would have died leaving them nothing more than an empty husk haunted by their mate’s lack of presence. Cases of murder, suicide, and mass destruction are all indicatives of a mate having lost their other half, unable to handle the lost until they themselves expire. Often, executing remaining partners of a soul bond was considered a mercy for them, for they would have no will to live on their own and it is a long painful death that would have awaited them anyway.

The thought of someone going insane by the loss of their soulmate left shivers down Lily’s back. She didn’t want to know what Enmu would do when she died. For she knew she would, eventually.

Or he could be thinking about asking Muzan Kibutsuji if he could turn her. She didn’t know how soulmates worked with demons and all. Knowing Muzan’s rather apathic nature she didn’t think he would allow her to be turned just because she was the mate of one of his lower moon’s even if he was lower one.

Hopefully she wouldn’t have to think about it too much. But hey, at least she finally got a boyfriend.

 Soul mate.

 Soul bonded.

Whatever.

Enmu didn’t seem to mind so much when she pounced on him like a cat in heat. He would have to get used to her special kind of crazy. And living with a cat. Let him feel all the judgment filled stares that being a cat owner (human pet) was really like.

Rustling….

Lily grabbed her side arm. A bush to her right was rustling its leaves. She quickly leapt back behind the trunk of a rather large tree and crouched down, waiting for whatever was in the bush to reveal itself.

She narrowed her eyes; her breaths slow and steady at potential threat.

Only to sweatdrop in disbelief, the cat on her head doing the same.

It was only a lone doe, which quickly left when she noticed the human watching her.

Lily sighed, turning around and walking through the bushes to the next clearing where she would hopefully find clues on the missing men.

“I swear, if I don’t find these idiots soon, I am going to tear them limb from---?!”

She yelped, covering her mouth at the bloody scene in front of her.

She found the men alright.

Just not whole.

Throughout the clearing were the remains of the men.

Blood covered the leaf covered clearing, still dripping off the branches of the bushes. Limbs were haphazardly thrown in every direction, the sockets showing signs of tearing. Organs were left out in random patterns, most being unrecognizable save for a few which she could tell was a heart and…possibly a kidney?

Well, she wasn’t eating tonight that’s for sure. The scene in front of her along with the smell did enough to curdle her stomach.

And above her, munching on an arm from one of the dead men no doubt, was a female demon that was incredibly pale with bright red dots and long white hair.

What the hell? Is that one of the members of the spider family of lower moon 5?

Did she really make her way to Mt. Natagumo?

Damn, her luck sucked.

At least now she knew where she was in terms of the storyline of demon slayer. With the spider family still here, that meant that Rui had to still be alive which means that all twelve Kizuki were still alive.

Hearing something coming from behind her she jumped in the air, literally leap frogging over the male demon who resembled the one in the tree who tried to attack her.

“You’re going to have to do better than that if you think you can touch me!” she said, using her momentum to leap onto a tree and used her arms to vault her over it onto one of its branches. Crossing her legs and taunting the demon below her.

Lily turned her head to the side, making exact eye contact with another demon in the distance who tried to connect one of her webs onto her. Well, well if it wasn’t the demon mother who has come out to play.

The demon with the long white hair and generous cleavage hissed at her, angry that she dodged her webs. “Food shouldn’t be allowed to talk!”

Using another of her webs she aimed for the branch below the human only for her to jump of in the nick of time and bounced off the demon that had been trying to jump up to reach her right in the face.

Ooh, that was going to leave a mark. She actually felt a little bad for the demon.

Then again not really, they were trying to eat her after all.

“Come on now, where’s the rest of your family? I doubt there are only three of you here. There were twelve men in that group, I doubt it was only you guys that took them down.”

“Humans are nothing compared to the strength of a demon! And how do you know there are more of us? Who are you, a demon slayer?” the woman shouted at her, still trying to catch her in her webs.

She shrugged, leaning back into the tree.

“I am a bounty hunter that was hired to locate those men whose remains are covering the clearing. Not a member of the demon corps. I don’t really care that you killed them, I just have to bring a few remains back with me and my contract will be fulfilled. So, be a dear and leave me to my business, will you?”

The female demon she had seen first in the clearing finally finished her meal, not liking the human talking to them in such a way.

“You have no business being so cocky, human. We would have let you die a relatively painless death, but now there will be no mercy on you.”

She cocked a brow, finding these three demons rather funny because they were so low on the family food chain as it were.

“Such big talk from someone who is so afraid of their little brother Rui who is half their size.”

The demons eyes all widened at the human’s words. Not believing that she knew who their head of the family was and how they were afraid of him.

“And I don’t think Rui will be happy to know that his supposed big brother, big sister, and supposed mother can’t take on a human woman who isn’t even a demon slayer. I actually feel a little sorry for you.”

Turning her gaze upwards he words sent chills down their spines, “Isn’t that right, Rui?”

For hanging above her standing barefoot on near transparent threads that only shined with the moonlight was lower moon 5, Rui.

Rui was a small demon, only appearing 12-13 years old. His milky white skin with red dots covering his face only highlighted his youth. His pale lilac hair was shaped in such a way that it resembled the legs of a spider. His eyes were a deep red with light blue pupils that showed the characters lower and five ingrained in his eye. His kimono was also white with a spider pattern, though it looked too big for his small frame.

“What do you want with us, human? If you are no demon slayer, why even bother approaching my family?”

The boy’s tone was low, perfectly polite and calm. Something that managed to unnerve her since she had always had a bit of a soft spot for Rui, knowing his past as a human was one that was tragic and could have only led to trauma once he had turned into a demon. Being a sick boy who felt like only a burden to his parents and could never really socialize with people would leave any child depressed. When Muzan came and gave him the chance to turn into a demon it gave him the opportunity to do things he could never have done as a human. However, killing his family left him with deep scars which effected his blood demon art Power Distribution. Where he could share his power and appearance with anyone who shared his blood.

“It was your family members who attacked me, I didn’t even threaten or harm them in anyway. Call it professional courtesy if anything.”

“Professional courtesy?” he asked, wondering what this human was talking about.

The human woman was one of the strangest humans he had ever seen. She appeared to be in her late teens, early twenties. Old enough to be married and with children of her own. Her long shining blonde hair the color of sunlight stood out to him who had only really seen his family member’s pale hair and the darker hair of the local humans. Her eyes were a beautiful ice blue eyes and slightly tanned features made him think that she was clearly foreign, especially given the exotic if not revealing clothes she was wearing.

She also smelled rather strange, her scent giving off notes like that of a marechi’s. It did not make him want to consume her though it made him want to go up and burrow into the warmth of her body not unlike a mother’s.

It made him feel funny. He could not really explain it. He had shared his blood with his family members so that they could protect him, care for him, love him. Rui knew that they would never feel for him naturally so giving them his blood and threatening them with violence was the only thing he could do to make them stay and be his family.

Seeing three of them being bested by a human woman who didn’t even raise a hand to them made his blood curdle in rage though. For they were weak, stupid, and how could they call themselves his family if they were useless?! He might as well get rid of them and start from scratch! And what does this woman mean by she didn’t attack his family out of ‘professional courtesy’?”

She pointed at her chin, wondering whether she should reveal who she was. She wasn’t in any way shamed or embarrassed that she would be forever connected to Enmu, but somehow, she just felt off putting his name out there in association with other demons. Like having a high-profile partner and dropping names to their benefit. Made her feel a bit icky when she thought of it. Though to be fair, she was surrounded by several demons who could and most likely would cause her bodily harm.

“I have recently come in to contact with another member of the Kizuki. When we touched it was revealed I was his mate. I just figured since you were also among the ranked moons it was only polite of me not to attack your family. Besides, you are too cute to attack. Well, except for your cheeks. I do have the near uncontrollable urge to squeeze them like little marshmallows,” she admitted sheepishly.

Rui flinched, feeling the unfamiliar urge to shield away his face away from the woman who has now revealed that she was mated to another moon. Which should have been impossible.

“That is impossible. No demon has ever been matched with a soul mate before. It is impossible,” he declared, still hiding his cheeks from the woman.

“Why would I lie. Tell me, out of all the humans you have encountered who would readily admit that they were the soul mate of a demon?”

Rui considered this, realizing the truth in the woman’s words. No woman would make up such a lie, for lying about being soul bonded was a heinous crime. Not to mention humans thought of them as monsters so a beautiful woman saying she was mated to a demon was not something that would happen with little thought.

“Which one?”

At this Lily was a little sheepish and gave a shaky laugh, knowing Enmu’s reputation left much to be desired.

“Lower moon one, Enmu.”

Rui almost fell off the thread he was standing on, his face in a deadpan expression that matched her cat’s expression almost exactly when she told Mew who she had been bonded to.

“The weirdo,” he murmured.

She laughed, scratching the back of her head. “Yeah, I know Enmu is certainly one of a kind. Trust me, I didn’t expect that either. I hope you know that I am no threat to you and really was only doing a job. I will in no way interfere with you or your territory. How about we let go of all this hostility and be friends okay?” she said brightly, practically radiating sunshine.

He looked at the woman below him, considering her. It might be worthwhile to get speak more with this woman. Paying more attention, he could smell the remnants of upper moon one’s scent on her. Meaning that they had been together recently. He could also smell that they fornicated.

Disgusting.

He would allow her here if only to get more information. That and he could admit that he wished to spend more time in the woman’s presence. It comforted him and made him feel things that he didn’t quite understand.

“You will follow us to our home, and we will talk there,” he declared quickly moving his hands to make more thread and shot them at her.

She grunted, surprised as she was pulled into the air with her cat and landed in the spider demon’s arms. It must have looked quite comical, a 23-year-old woman in the arms of a child. Her cat yowled, not liking being tossed in the air like a ball.

“Talk about sweeping me off my feet,” she teased.

The boy blushed, the pink hue bringing color to his pale cheeks. “Its faster this way,” he murmured.

“Sure, it is,” she said.

And with that they were off.

The three other demons only looked at each other, taken aback by what happened.

“She is the mate of lower moon one?”

“I feel sorry for that human. I never thought that would happen.”

“How could such a weirdo like him get such a beautiful mate?”

The two female demons looked at the male demon, glaring at him.

He raised his hands, “I may be a demon, but I’m not blind you know!”

“Shut up!” They both yelled.

“Do you want to get us killed?”

They ran after Rui, hoping they didn’t mess up too bad with the human female, so she didn’t tell the strongest lower moon about how they attacked his mate.

Chapter Text

There were worse things in the world than being surrounded by a pseudo family of spider demons. She had been with Rui and his family for the past few days, and everything seemed to be going well for the most part. The other demons that had been in the clearing that day seemed to still be weary of Lily and were even more skeptical of the blooming relationship between Rui and Lily.

When Rui had first brought the blonde woman into his home with his family, he was anxious. The woman after all, was the supposed mate of lower moon one and didn’t seem to react like other humans he had interacted with before. She didn’t scream with fear at the sight of his pale skin or demonic features. She didn’t try to kill him without him even saying a word to her. She didn’t try to fight him even while being surrounded by numerous demons. If anything, she kept calm and was teasing him and the others with her actions. To him, she was an anomaly that needed figuring out.

He was surprised when the sun had started its ascent into the sky she didn’t immediately try to leave. She stayed with him and his family. She entertained his siblings and him with stories about her home and some of the crazier actions when she was Rui’s age of which there were many. Lily even let Rui lay on her lap on his back while she played with his lilac hair, stroking the soft strands between her fingers. The soothing action from the female made him purr, not unlike a kitten which startled him the first time he did it. Demons didn’t really purr unless they were at their most content. Something that was highly unusual to a demon as their way of life was mainly solitary due to the Master’s orders. There wasn’t much a demon really did that made them really content in life. Demons spent most of their time growing their power to eventually reach the level of power where they could challenge a member of the Kizuki and take their place. Besides that, the Kizuki’s main mission was to find the blue spider lily. Along the way they were to eliminate as many demon slayers as possible while also trying to locate the Ubuyashiki clan.

He grew to love huddling into Lily’s warmth, taking comfort in her unique floral and earthy scent that made him sigh. The difference in temperature between Lily and Rui made the small demon want to curl up against the woman and never leave. The peaceful feeling of warmth and safety really made the bond between them grow.

If any of the other demons tried to disturb them when they were like this Rui was quick to glare and hiss at them. The small demon grew quite attached to the young woman, maybe having imprinted on her due to her kind actions with him and his family. As the days went by Rui even started to think about potentially turning the woman into a demon. The thought faded away because he knew that Enmu or the Master would have the only authority to turn her. That didn’t mean that he couldn’t enjoy her company in the meantime.

Rui was currently learning how to crochet the little plushies that Lily made. He thought they were soft and plushy. He was quite interested when the woman had been looking in her bag for something and one of her plushies fell out. The child demon quickly asking the woman if she could teach him how to make them.

“You just turn the loop like this and voila! A spider plushy!” the female cheered, waving the plushy into the air. Her golden hair shining in the moonlight that only highlighted the woman’s natural beauty.

Rui looked down at his own plushy, more clumsily made and worn looking than Lily’s. Not to mention smaller. The black and lilac spider looking so bad next to Lily’s well made looking one of white and lilac. The legs were more uniform and actually looked like a spider while his….not so much.

“It looks horrible,” he pouted, unhappy with the job he did. His cheeks puffing out at the action making Lily coo at the picture the spider demon made. He really was just too cute for words!

“No, it doesn’t. This is only your first-time crocheting, Rui. If anything, it is really good for a first attempt. I was nowhere near as good as this when I first started. The first thing I ever made were oven mitts and tea cozies. In time, you will get better and will be even better than me.”

Lily put her plushy next to Rui’s. She pushed them together and then softly touched Rui’s shoulders. Putting her chin on his head and brining him into a soft hug that made the spider demon blush.

“Look at what we made together. A mother spider and her little baby spider. They look perfect to me.” She kissed the top of Rui’s hair, loving how soft and silky it was. Embarrassing Rui further but unwilling to step away from Lily’s warm embrace.

Rui looked at the two plushies. In his mind he couldn’t help but think of how strange it was that he bonded with this woman so quickly and without much effort. The woman was so kind and caring, taking the time to teach him a craft and even made something that signified him and her. She was easy to love. So easy to fall under her spell that he never resisted until it was too late.

He didn’t wish to eat her.

A human marechi that was unlike anyone he had ever met.

A woman who took him under her wing like a mother.

His mother.

As he stared at the woman, he wondered what it would be like if he made her stay with him. He knew he already had a demon that was supposed to be his ‘mother’ but she didn’t like to do it and her fear was something that made him scrunch his nose up in disgust. His blood may have made her look like him due to his blood demon art, but she wasn’t what he really wanted. Lily would suit the role much better, and the way she made him feel made their bond even more special. If only she wasn’t the mate of another demon. If only she wasn’t bonded to another Kizuki member, than maybe he would have been able to keep her for himself to be a part of his family. There was no way he was strong enough to take on lower moon one. He knew eventually Enmu would find her, and he would no doubt be punished for taking another demon’s mate, if that was even a thing. This was unprecedented territory. But he didn’t want to let her go. He had already admitted to loving the woman like a child with their mother.

“You should stay here with me,” he said, looking into her eyes.

Lily smiled sadly, stroking his little face with her finger. “I can’t, Rui. I need to go back into town to finish up some things and as much as Mew thinks he’s king of the forest he isn’t much suited for the forest. He’s a lap cat that is used to getting his way. But I will come visit you. I have enjoyed the days we have spent together. Maybe you will even visit me in town sometime. You know where the inn is. Besides, do you really want Enmu to come looking for me in your territory?”

The boy demon’s face twitched, a pulse marking appearing at the side of his head. “That weirdo is not allowed here! Fine. But you need to promise to visit often. Or I will come find you!” he threatened, but with his blushing face and averted eyes it just made him seem cuter.

Lily squealed and pinched his cheeks, loving how soft and plushy they were. “Don’t worry I will. I will also bring Mew too. He seemed to have grown quite attached to you with all the treats you tend to give him.”

This was true. The cat wasn’t afraid to approach the demon and even meowed at him when he was hungry leading him to often catch small mice or birds for the feline. The cat would even crawl into the demon’s lap to sleep. Mew was one of a kind. Just like his owner (pet).

Lily stood up on her feet and brushed herself off. She waved to the other demons at the doorway as she headed off.

“Bye now, I’ll visit you all again real soon! Don’t get in any trouble now! Eat lots of humans so you all get nice and strong!”

They all deadpanned. Only this human was weird enough to say to a demon to eat more humans. Maybe she and Enmu being mated wasn’t such an odd thing.

If only they knew the crazy that lived in Lily’s head.

She started her trip down the mountain. Glad that she had met lower moon 5 without much hassle and left relatively unscathed.

Little did she know what awaited her down the mountain and back in town.

Chapter Text

The day was just starting when Lily got back into town after being with Rui and his spider demon family for the past few days. She visited the chief’s house to deliver the proof of the dead men, saying that it looked like wild animals had gotten to them and there were little remains to be had. The chief thanked her and told her he would handle speaking with the families himself. He paid her for the bounty and wished her luck. She wished him the same and that her thoughts were with the families of the deceased.

As a human, should she have felt bad about lying to the village leader? Lying was supposed to be wrong. However, Lily knew that she would get nowhere telling the locals that there was a spider demon family living on the mountain. If anything, they would have called her mad and sicked the local authorities on her or accused her of killing the men herself. There were so many complex paths to take when dealing with anything demon related. The truth is, Lily just didn’t really care. Demons needed to consume flesh to survive. It just so happens that humans were their intended prey.

Men might think they were the top of the food chain in life, however, in Japan that wasn’t the case. Lily also knew that at any point of time a demon could come out of nowhere and try to devour her. She would just need to defend herself long enough either to run away or until the sun rose. Luckily, she wasn’t lazy since coming into this new world and trained as hard as she could in her marksmanship and swordsmanship to defend herself. Her experience in martial arts also came in handy more than once since arriving in Japan, and only had to use it on unruly male humans rather than demons.

Back in her old-world Lily had what could be considered a bit of a moral grey scale. She didn’t believe in things being completely black or white, good vs evil, light vs dark. Growing up, Lily was taught by her father the truth of the world. How nothing was fair and that anything could happen at any time. While she loved watching Disney movies such as lion king or Mulan, she knew that each ‘child’ movie she watched was based on a longer much more real variation. The brothers Grimm tales as well as other folklore or mythology that led to the more popular productions of movies or tv shows.

It was hard interacting with children her own age because she wasn’t exposed to the shaded lens most parents give their children to maintain their ‘innocence’. She didn’t grow up believing in the tooth fairy or santa clause or that she was magically grown from a cabbage patch from a diamond that her parents had to wish extremely hard to get. Some of the stories she heard from other children about the bull their parents fed them could be unbelievable. Then again, if children are only exposed to only one perspective how else are they going to learn. Luckily, because she was raised by her father who always welcomed Lily’s questions on why the world was how it is she was able to flourish.

Due to Lily always questioning adults and their perspectives, or even how they tried to shy away if not completely avoid telling the truth to children she only had a select few friends over the years. During high school she was considered ‘a hot commodity’ due to her looks and how she was mostly a loner. She knew that many of the boys who approached her only did so to score or look good in front of their friends. Lily loved to put them in her place, and the few boys she did end up liking were dating another girl or turned out to be gay which she supported because she wasn’t a hater. Which then led to her trusting and relying more on her ‘collection’ vs actual dating partners.

While at first she was apprehensive about being in a ‘soulmate’, so far nothing really bad has happened. Maybe she will even be really happy, how would she know unless she tries? Though Lily felt she might need some liquid courage to even look him in the eye next time she sees him. Then again, she got no complaints from him when she literally pounced on the man.

She knew that she will eventually run into demon slayers at some point. It was inevitable since Enmu was a demon and the demon slayer corps were always looking to eliminate Kizuki members. She knew she had some time before the Mugen train arc, but how long she didn’t know. She would like so see Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko, but she didn’t know if it would be a good thing or not if they did meet depending on if she was with Enmu or not at the time.

That could be bad.

Seeing Rui with his family really made her think about what will happen now that she is here and what she could possibly do to the storyline. Will things be the same? Or will they be different now that she has interacted with two of the Kizuki? What would happen if she accidently ran into Muzan or accidently walked into another demon’s territory that wasn’t so friendly? She already felt enough shame as it was to name drop Enmu when she was surrounded by Rui and his family. Lily was raised by her father to be an independent woman who didn’t need anyone else to survive. She didn’t like asking for anyone’s help, rather she was the one who would help others in any way she could. Currently, there was nothing Lily could really do if she ran across another demon that was intent on eating her. She didn’t have a nishirin sword, she couldn’t kill a demon with what she had on her.

Honestly, she would rather not join the demon slayer corps. She didn’t like the idea of a family who has prospered for over a millennium because of the untold number of child corpses left in their wake. It is true that most of the demon slayers that joined the corps were orphans due to demons consuming their families, but it was by being in the corps that would truly lead to their demise. Countless children exploited for their feelings of rage, depression, and despair to do the work of a family who’s two only goals were to survive and kill Muzan. Or families who were specifically bred like cattle to become stronger demon slayers and Hashira like the Rengoku’s. While she was extremely sad when Rengoku died, she could see the flaws in the system.

Lily did not particularly like or dislike children. But to see children not even given a chance to survive  broke her heart that once she got over the high of the great graphics and interesting characters to realize that the show was incredibly tragic and showed a lot about humanity. Its flaws and strengths. Each of the Hashira represented a different characteristic of humanity, and each had their own flaws and struggles that made them who they were. How were the demons any different? Many of them had traumatic human lives and Muzan gave them a second chance if because of a whim or if he believed they would be useful to him in time. To her, the demon slayer corps were hypocrites when it came to their views on the demons.

She felt for every child who lost a parent, sibling, or friend due to demons. However, isn’t that what the circle of life was all about? The parents were the ones responsible for raising their children to succeed and survive in life. Adults should all be protecting the weak not because of pride, or weakness. Children were the future. The fact that the Ubuyashiki clan relied on such vast numbers of children to fuel their ‘army’ against the war with demons was incredibly self-serving.

She doubted that they even did any of the fighting themselves in their long history. She knew that the Ubuyashiki clan had derived from the clan Muzan had been a part of which meant that at one point they had been high ranking nobles or lords. The only reason they even started hunting Muzan in the first place was because a priest had told them that the reason their children were dying so young was due to them being related to the progenitor of demons. Lily didn’t believe this for a second. There had to have been some other reason why the children were dying at such young ages.

This could have been due to hereditary disease like Muzan had, consequences from inbreeding, or even other supernatural explanations that did not fit such a black and white view on the war between Muzan and his living descendants. It also made no sense how once the family only started marrying the daughters or female family members of priests did the ‘curse’ become dormant until they could reach adulthood where they could continue their line. Very suspicious if you ask her, especially since the supposed curse happened only after several years had passed since Muzan became a demon. This also didn’t explain why Muzan had been so sick in the first place or how he had been born dead. If you asked Lily, she would tell you that the family probably made someone angry and their line was cursed or poisoned by them, not because of Muzan.

While she was thinking about all this she walked into her room at the local inn. It was nothing fancy, only a lone futon with some wall art depicting flowers and a small window where she can look out to see the town. As Lily was putting her stuff down and after she fed her cat someone knocked on her door.

“Who could that be?” she wondered. She had already settled her bill with the innkeeper before she entered her room and wasn’t expecting anyone.

She walked over the door and opened it to reveal the innkeeper she had spoken with earlier.

“Good morning. I know we had just spoken, but it seems you have a visitor who is waiting in the dining area, Miss Briar. If you can follow me, I can escort you to them.”

“Oh, I wasn’t expecting anyone. Thank you so much for letting me know.”

Lily closed the door to her room and followed the kindly innkeeper to where her mysterious visitor was. Perhaps it was a potential client who wanted to hire her for a bounty?

Now she was curious.

After reaching the dining room she bowed to the innkeeper and thanked him for escorting her. When she entered the room, she was surprised to find a bald man in plain white robes who seemed to be in his thirties waiting for her by the fireplace. A monk possibly?

Strange.

“Good morning. I was told that you wished to speak with me?” Lily asked, smiling at the man who turned around at the sound of her voice.

He bowed deeply in front of her. “Good morning. I am a messenger for my lord who wishes to meet with you tonight.”

“I’m sorry, does this lord wish to talk with me about a potential job with me?”

There was no other reason Lily could think of for some rich noble to want to talk to someone like her.

He shook his head, “I am not at liberty to ask our lord about his intentions. I was told he would like to meet with you at your earliest convenience several days ago. I have been checking daily to see if you were available. Unfortunately, it seems you were away on business for the last few days. My apologies if I have come at a bad time.”

Lily frantically waved her hands, sheepish that this man had been waiting so long! “Don’t be sorry, its my fault! I was away and I got caught up in something, otherwise I would have been back much earlier. How do you know its me that your lord wishes to talk to? I don’t often talk to any nobles. Usually just village leaders, wealthy merchants, or landowners.”

“I was told to find the foreign woman with golden blonde hair, blue eyes, and dressed in *ahem* unusual western clothing. As you are the only person in the village who fits this description, I believe I have the right person,” the man said, glad that he didn’t disappoint his lord in locating the female.

When his lord asked him to locate the woman he had been surprised and filled with pride that his lord assign him this task. After giving a description of the woman he went into town asking about her only to be directed towards the local inn. The innkeeper told him that she was gone on business and didn’t know when the lady would return.

Unhappy about this, he left the inn to give the new information to his lord who ordered him to return to the inn daily until the woman was found. Her saying no to his request was not an option either.

Remembering the look on his lord’s face at his failure made him shiver. He vowed not to return without the woman’s positive answer to meeting his lord.

Lily stared at him, knowing that the little cough was his way of trying not to say something other than unusual. She knows her style of clothing was considered provocative and revealing to the locals, but it was what she liked to wear. It was comfortable, and practical. Wearing skin-tight clothes or revealing shirts helped her more than hindered. She tended to overheat quickly and how was she supposed to travel across the country with wooden shoes in an impractical kimono she has never worn in her life?!

However, she was curious about what this supposed ‘lord’ wanted with her. It would have to be a bounty that probably needed some form of discretion that couldn’t be done through formal regular channels. Something that piqued her interest. However, she couldn’t put her finger on it, but something about this whole conversation felt…off.

Curiosity killed the cat…..

But satisfaction brought him back!

“Well, color me intrigued. Tonight, you said? Where is his residence?”

The man brightened considerably, glad that the woman didn’t need much cajoling to say yes. His lord will be so happy to know that his guest said yes! “I will be by later this evening before sunset to escort you to his mansion. Dinner will be served as my lord wanted to make his guest feel welcome at his estate.”

Lily tilted her head, smirking at the man which made his brow sweat.

“And I’m guessing it would be better if I wore something formal, correct?”

“If you do not have something appropriate, I can have some clothing prepared for you to be delivered later today. However, yes something formal would most likely be for the best.”

“I do not need anything, thank you. I have the perfect dress in mind.”

After saying her goodbyes to the messenger she got went back to her room to plan for tonight. Wanting to leave nothing to chance she went through all of her belongings that she had half a mind to grab before being sucked into this new world. At the very bottom of the bag was a formal dress alright. But not one that the messenger probably had in mind. A dress that would have been considered beautiful and sophisticated. But in this world and time would be considered quite the showstopper.

Lily smirked, while she didn’t dress up very often, but this occasion definitely called for it. She wanted to stay true to herself here. Conforming to the standards of a time who still thought of woman to only be useful for childrearing was not something she would be doing. Ever. She did like to stir the pot a bit, but who didn’t really? She couldn’t wait to see the man’s expression what her definition of a formal dress was!

“We need to make a good impression, don’t we Mr. Mew?” She reached out to pet her little kitty, making sure to scratch behind his ears. His favorite spot.

Her little kitty meowed at her, agreeing. He snuggled into the blankets on the futon and quickly fell back asleep.

She wished she could do the same, but there was too much for her to do. She could take a nap in a few hours, that would make her well rested for the meeting with this lord.

Tonight, would be interesting that’s for sure.

The messenger was practically skipping as he made his way through the halls of the vast compound. Flowers shined around him as he made his way through the other followers to the hall in which his lord resided. Only a select few were allowed to enter these halls among them only the most devoted of his lord as well as those who would finally achieve eternal paradise. This side of the compound had no windows so every six feet was a lantern that would provide light. He bowed to the manservant next to the entrance of his lord’s chambers and told him he had news for their lord.

“Let him in,” came the voice of their leader.

The manservant quickly slid open the screen door and let the messenger inside.

His lord was on his cushioned pillow, his black and gold headpiece in place. The divine being was slouched on the cushion, his head resting on his face in a pout. His rainbow eyes hidden closed as he let out a sigh of disappointment.

“No luck again?”

The messenger shook his head frantically, his sleeves whipping in the air with his movements.

“No, my Lord! I managed to speak with the woman just as she got back from another job, she said. She has agreed to meet with you. I told her I would escort her just before sunset and that she would share a meal with you. She did ask about your intentions with her but I told her that I was not privy to that information, but that it was very important.”

His lord’s eyes blew open, the rainbow colors dancing. The messenger sweat dropped when those divine eyes narrowed in on him like prey, keeping him in place.

“Oh? How wonderful! Tell me, what did you think of her? What does she really look like? Is she pretty?”

He rapidly asked his servant these questions, eager to hear news of the woman he had been anticipating meeting for over a week now. Ever since he received that plush lotus all he had been thinking about was her smell and her taste. Wondering what it would be like to meet this woman in person and not just experiencing her through secondhand items.

The messenger scratched the side of his face, perplexed at how his lord was acting. His lord was usually a reserved individual who cared deeply for his followers, but always kept them at a distance. He often didn’t really interact with them save for meetings, when he needed something cleaned, or when he selected the chosen few to reach eternal paradise.

To see him like this made him wonder what his lord wanted with the woman he had never even met.

“She seemed to be a polite young lady. She could be 18 to her early twenties. She was traveling alone; no male or female companions were with her, and she was certainly foreign. Her name is Lily Briar. She had lovely golden blonde hair and ice blue eyes that contrasted with her slightly tanned skin. Her clothes were…..interesting to say the least. I have never seen a woman dress like she does. While they may be of western design they are very….different to what a modest Japanese woman would wear. She seemed intrigued when I mentioned that you wished to speak with her. She said she doesn’t usually meet with nobles.”

“How exciting! I can’t wait to meet with this woman! She is the one who made my favorite gift! We should prepare a bountiful spread for her to enjoy, its not everyday we get a foreigner in our beloved paradise.”

His lord got very close to him, holding the man in a cold gaze that sent shivers down his bones. Those unearthly eyes burrowing into his very soul.

“Make sure to bring our guest promptly tonight. I think this woman would love to join our beloved family here, don’t you agree?”

With that the lord dismissed the messenger.

He leapt up from his cushion only to land in his bed, the silken sheets welcoming his weight as he reached for his lotus plushy that had barely any scent of the woman remaining. He started to giggle madly, the woman was coming here, to him! Soon they would be in the same room, where he could experience her in all her glory. He wanted to see her, touch her, consume her until nothing not even her soul was left.

Tonight would be an interesting occasion. He needed to make sure he looked his very best for the woman.

He needed a bath!

And to have someone clean his very best ceremonial robes!

Looking around him, noticing the left-over blood and body limbs from his last meal made him tilt his head while cuddling the lotus plushy.

Maybe he should get a maid in here to clean up his chambers as well.

Just in case….

Chapter Text

It took several hours to get to this point, but she was all done. She managed to get her dress laundered and ready in the short time that she had along with finding some of her undergarments that would also go with the dress. Lily even managed to find her two toned heels that she was lucky weren’t scuffed. Never again will she wear something that doesn’t match. That one slight slip in middle school made her learn never to be unprepared for any occasion.

She was sitting in the waiting area of the inn wearing a black cloak that covered her entire frame, not wanting to get any remarks from the locals on how she dressed herself. The elderly innkeeper and his wife, the cook, had already retired for the evening and wish her good night and to be careful on her trip.

Just as she was starting to tap her foot, she heard the door open.

It was the messenger from before. Behind him was a horse drawn carriage with beautiful white horses. The carriage was beautiful with hand painted black and gold. The entire carriage was made out of wood with the inside covered in silky cushions practically screaming wealth. It was much fancier than a regular horse drawn carriage that was made for nobility. The inside of the carriage would conceal whoever was inside entirely unless the blinds were open, leaving much privacy.

The messenger had the ladder lowered and Lily carefully made her way up the steps with a helping hand from the man servant. She breathed a sigh of relief as she sat down on the plump cushions. The messenger told the driver they were ready and soon they were off.

Little was said between Lily and the messenger. She was a little nervous since she was opening herself to a private meeting with a lord, she had never met in his own home rather than a neutral place. The messenger only told her that the journey would take about an hour to by carriage back to the lord’s mansion.

What could go wrong, right?

Lily really needed to stop thinking that.

Lily couldn’t believe her eyes when she stepped outside the carriage. Her mouth had dropped down to the floor, and she didn’t think she would be picking it up anytime soon. Then again, who could blame her? This wasn’t a mansion or even a compound.

That was a fucking castle!!!

An actual Japanese Castle that had multiple floors all sloped with jade-colored roofs and beautiful wood and stone architecture that Lily would have loved to have seen back in her old world. With the sun setting it hit the castle at just the right angle to make it shimmer, truly showing its beauty and history. This castle looked old, several centuries at least. She wouldn’t be surprised if this place belonged to a Shogun or even someone a part of the royal court.

She needed to tread carefully. The last thing she needed was an unhappy lord that had a bone to pick with her.

Lily quietly followed the messenger who was greeted at the entrance by several servants, all wearing white robes. Looking around her, she counted over a hundred people still out and about at this time of day which seemed strange. Then again, who wouldn’t like to view the sunset in all its beautiful hues that just danced in the skies? She did notice, however, there seemed to be many more women and children than men around. Around her several women were covering their mouths as she passed by, no doubt talking to neighbors about the foreigner in their midst.

As she walked through the halls even more people were revealed. It seemed this castle had hundreds of people inside, which was odd as they didn’t all seem like servants.

“This is the home of our lord. Here he takes care of all our needs and where we all live in harmony. He is the one you will be meeting with tonight.”

Lily shook herself out of her thoughts, a little sheepish that she was caught off guard. Get it together, Lily.

“That sounds wonderful. This place looks so beautiful.”

“I am so glad you think so. Our lord prides himself on making a place that everyone who is seeking refuge is welcome.”

They arrived at a screen door that was opened to the most beautiful room Lily had ever seen. It was a large room that looked like a banquet hall. The wooden floors glossy and smooth that reflected the dozens of lanterns that were connected to the beams of the ceiling. Each screen panel was hand painted with beautiful tree and pond motifs, at the end was another screen door with a giant red lotus in bloom. The table wasn’t like a normal Japanese wooden table, but more of a European one as there were chairs rather than cushions that rested on the floor. At the head of the table was a large wooden throne like chair that was huge and could easily fit more than one person. She didn’t doubt many children could even fit in that chair.

“May I take your cloak, my lady?”

Lily graciously accepted the messenger’s offer, shrugging out of her cloak and handing it to him only for him to turn into stone, her cloak falling to the floor.

Beneath her cloak was a beautiful floor length backless dress with black lace covering the stop of her breasts. The straps were tied which showcased her beautiful neck. When she turned to sit in her chair the entirety of her lightly tanned back was exposed that stopped at the small of her back. She crossed her leg over the other showcasing the black strapped heals she was wearing with the red on the underpart of the shoe. Overall, she was dressed to kill, and she knew it. She even managed to tame her golden hair to flow over her shoulders with light curls that framed her face.

The messenger’s mouth hung open, his eyes bulging out of his head at the vision in front of him.

She leaned close, closing his mouth for him.

“Careful now, don’t want to lure in any flies, do we?” She playfully asked.

The messenger quickly stammered out his apologies.

“I am so sorry, I just thought you would be dressed…differently. Please accept my apologies. I will go let my lord know you are here.”

The man quickly scurried out of the room, the flush of his cheeks bright enough to light up the room.

Lily laughed, thinking that this was exactly the reaction she wanted out of the man. When he said formal, he didn’t think that she would dress formal for herself rather than a traditional Japanese formal kimono.

As the moments went by, she was taking in the sights of the beautiful hall she was in. In awe of its beautiful elegance that she so rarely got to see. This guy had money there was no doubt about that. At the corner of her eye, she saw something glisten from the light of the lanterns.

She gasped when she saw them. Two large glistening fans splayed out on the wall made of the purest gold. Each held a delicate lotus pattern that splayed across the fans, showcasing their beauty.

Not able to help herself she got out of her chair and went over to them. Picking them up she realized how light they were even though they were made of gold. These two fans were also razor sharp with unassuming deadly edges that would definitely cut someone to ribbons if used properly. These must be sharpened regularly to keep them in prime condition. There wasn’t a speck of dirt or any other debris on the fans.

Lily giggled when she lifted one of the fans only to notice it almost matched her hair color. Not able to help herself she started to dance around the room, twirling and zipping across the wooden floors. She started to slowly hum, matching her movements to the beat of the tune in her head. Closing her eyes, she just let herself drift along to the beat of the song in her head, giving herself to the tune.

To immersed in what she was doing, she didn’t realize the screen door at the other side of the room open and a tall figure entered the room.

Douma had just finished putting on his black and gold crown to cover the top of his head when a knock came to the screen of his chambers.

“Enter,” he said.

It was the messenger who was tasked to bring the woman he had been looking forward to meeting with.

“Good evening my lord. The lady is currently in the private dining hall and waiting for you.”

The demon clapped his hands enthusiastically, delighted that everything was coming together so smoothly. He had been so looking forward to meeting the woman and finally getting to see for himself who carried such a lovely and unique scent that was unlike other marechi’s. The lotus flower plushy that he had received no longer had the woman’s scent and he knew that what awaited him would truly be an experience.

Over the past several hours he had even wondered if he could convince the woman to become one of his followers, a new member to join Eternal Paradise. What human wouldn’t love to be able to leave their past behind, escaping the grief and despair that followed every waking step of their lives? For so many years it has been up to Douma to relieve humans of their woes, their stories becoming even more pitiful the more he heard them. Wives abused by their husbands, children who had no parents to take care of them, men wanting to escape the law or other hardships that would eventually cause their death. All these different paths led to Douma who would relieve them of their suffering when he devoured them.

Ever since he was a child he had been placed on a pedestal by his parents as a deity sent by the gods to hear the woes of man to lead them to eternal paradise. However, he was no deity sent by God or Buddha to fix the mistakes or bring fortune upon people. He did bring eternal piece to his loyal followers by giving ending their pitiful lives. As a human he even collected the skulls of some of his most loyal followers so they could always remain with him, something they always wanted. After he was blessed by the master, he was able to carry his followers within himself after consuming them. Living forever inside him, their precious blood and flesh sustaining their lord. A truly beautiful relationship he had with them.

As he walked through the halls to meet the woman, the servant following closely behind him, he greeted his followers with as joyful a smile as he could manage. Being sure to not show too much of his fangs.

When he reached the screen door that led to the private dining room he stopped.

“I can take it from here. Please ensure that the food is brought to us shortly. We don’t want to leave our guest waiting too long now.”

The white robed servant bowed to the lord. “Of course, my lord. I will see to that right away.”

“Good.”

He opened the screen door painted screen door.

After shutting it behind him he went to greet his guest only to stop before any words came out of his mouth. His eyes widened and could do little more than stare at what was happening in front of him.

Something he did not expect to happen at all.

This was outside of anything he could have expected in his life that remained the same for so many years.

He had been told by his female follower who gifted him the soft lotus plushy that the woman she purchased the gift from was a woman who was foreign with golden blonde hair and blue eyes.

The messenger he sent to find the woman said she also had golden blonde hair and blue eyes. He also said that she was a polite young woman who dressed rather unusually.

Seeing the woman with his own two eyes made Douma very disappointed at his followers rather lacking descriptions of the creature in front of him.

For in front of him was an enchanting vision of beauty he had never seen before in all his long years. In Japan, the concept of beauty was rather narrow. The features of a beautiful Japanese beauty were copied and modeled everywhere. Long dark hair. Small petite body and features. Small painted red lips. Pale skin with little exposure to the sun.

The woman in front of him had none of that, and yet she seemed to exude a presence that seemed otherworldly to him. If he was a creature of night this woman would clearly be a creature of light. Her golden blonde hair shined under the lanterns that decorated the ceiling of the room, glowing with light. Her eye’s the color of ice, like the manifestation of his blood art, large and wide with unspoken emotions he could not understand. Her skin a beautiful light tan color, showing proof that she spent time under the sun’s deadly rays.

The dress she was wearing was something he had never seen before. It was not a formal kimono that the local women would wear or covered her body. No, this red and black dress was made to fit every curve this woman had and showoff her large breasts and hips. Her unusual shoes were even red and black he noticed!

He was very entertained as he watched this beautiful, strange woman dance around the dining area using his own two golden fans! What a joyful experience! The woman had talent too, using both fans to match her movements and her humming was a delight as well. Ooh, she even could lift her leg above her head how flexible she was!

Her scent was even more mouthwatering than he had anticipated now that he was so close to her. Her marechi blood sending his senses haywire. The floral and earthy tones making him want to bury his nose in her neck where her scent would be strongest. Her scent made him pause though when he realized she didn’t smell appetizing like his followers often did or even other marechi. It did not make him want to eat her. If anything, he wanted to squeeze her like the plushy that no longer carried her scent and breath her in forever and savor her warm body.

He should definitely try to make this woman join him in Eternal Paradise.

He started to clap loudly, her performance deserving an applause.

Her head whipped up and her gaze met his, her eyes widening as she gasped and quickly covered her face with his fans.

“This was a lovely introduction! I am Douma. Welcome to Eternal Paradise!”

His fangs flashed at the woman, unable to help himself.

This would be an interesting night for both of them, he was sure.

Chapter Text

Lily thought she had experienced the ultimate embarrassment already in her life. She was wrong. No awkward situation between her and her dad could ever compare with what was happening to her now. Oh, she just wanted to die right now. Just have the wooden floor swallow her up and let her never see the light of day again. She managed to make a complete fool of herself not in front of a lord that wanted a job done, but by upper moon two, Douma. The second most powerful member of Muzan’s Kizuki, and the wild card of the group. Dancing, completely forgetting where she was, and ended up making such a bad impression.

She didn’t know too much about Douma since she only watched the end of the entertainment district arc and didn’t start the new season yet since she had been so busy recording for work. She had over ten scenes she needed to record for her next deadline and needed to space them out. Lily knew that Douma was the one who had turned Daki and Gyutaro when they had been humans, but other than that didn’t know squat. She only knew he was upper moon 2 because of how many spoilers had been on the internet. The only things Lily knew about Douma was that he didn’t have any emotions, was considered a glutton, and had taken pity over Daki and Gyutaro. That scene had been truly memorable because she was surprised that they showed him literally walking minding his own business in the poorest area of the entertainment district. Casually holding a woman’s head and taking huge chunks out of her leg like a drumstick with his teeth. Then again, they always did make the pretty ones crazy, a classic trope.

He was certainly a beautiful man though, both on screen and off. His hair was a beautiful platinum blond that fell down his back that was slightly spiky making it almost like a mane. His eyes were a unique rainbow color that she thought was so cool and so unique. His clothes were similar to that in the anime with a scarlet red long sleeve shirt with a black robe draped over his broad shoulders and striped hakama pants. On top of his head was a black crown-like headpiece with golden inlays that no doubt was used to hide the bloodstain type markings on the top of his head. She was surprised how tall the demon was over 6 foot 2 surely.

If she wasn’t already in a ‘relationship’ with Enmu she would certainly be tempted to ask the demon out on a date. Lily always did like unconventional guys. While the feeling no emotions thing she would have to get used to, she had no right to judge someone who couldn’t help the way they were born. The whole point of being in a relationship with someone was to accept them for who they are, not trying to make them better or worse for personal gain.

She hoped Enmu would be show up soon because all this waiting for him so they can have a conversation of what the heck happened between them and how they would move forward. She didn’t know him all that well, but being soulmates she figured she would need to get used to it one way or another. Her heart wouldn’t be able to take it if she saw Enmu cry, his face was so cute and pretty it would surely tear her heart in two.

Douma made his way inside the dining room and took a seat on the large throne like chair. She peered at him through the golden fans she was hiding behind.

Lily needed to tread carefully when it came to this demon because she knew that he was probably to most impulsive demon out of the twelve Kizuki. Before she knew it, he could grab her and start eating her before she even had a chance to scream.

The upper rank waved at her while smiling with such cheer she was immediately suspicious. “Come on, sit down! I have been eagerly waiting to meet you! My follower had such a tough time tracking you down I never thought our meeting would happen. I am glad he managed to succeed. My followers always do their best to meet my expectations.” His smile widened, showing off his fangs and making Lily shiver.

She didn’t know if it was pleasant or not.

Don’t judge her.

“Its not everyday I walk into my own private dining hall to be greeted with such a sight. A beautiful foreign woman dancing with such beauty and grace using my own fans as well! Truly, it was such a treat to see.”

Her entire face fell, incredulous that she managed to make such a blunder. These golden fans were his? And no doubt were his own personal weapons?!

Kill her now please! She was an idiot and didn’t deserve to live!

She laughed nervously, putting the fans on the table and then taking a seat next to Douma at his urging.

Douma was pleased at how well the night seemed to be going. This human was so new and interesting! Truly, he couldn’t imagine someone like this ever appearing into his life in such a way. Seeing this woman dancing with his gold fans made something stir inside him that he couldn’t quite name. Then again, when it came to this woman it seemed like every minute that passed by something unexplainable happened. What fun! It was a change from how his normal daily life was. Anything that deviated from his routine was something to celebrate!

He clapped his hands, signaling his followers to bring in the food for their guest. As the white robed humans came in, he took in every expression that appeared on the woman’s face. Her face showing awe and wonder as each dish was presented to them and in little time they were left alone.

Human and Demon.

Enjoying a meal together.

Such an interesting night this was turning out to be.

“Let me start by welcoming you to my humble home. Here at Eternal Paradise, people come from all over to reach completion and to find their happiness. Everyone and anyone are welcome. I am Douma, the lord here.” He purred, his voice sending shivers through Lily.

She took a breath. Her confidence flickering when meeting the platinum demon’s gaze. Pinning her to her chair while at the same time analyzing every move she made.

Looking for any signs of weakness.

A predator toying with its prey.

Giving it the slightest bit of hope of escaping before finally delivering the death blow.

“Lily. Lily Briar. I currently work as a bounty hunter for hire. I locate people, investigate for my clients, and have also done bodyguard duty.”

Douma laughed, delighted at the thought of a woman having such a job. Or even working and having a job at all. Most women he came across were homemakers who took care of their family. Doing tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and raising a family. Rarely did he come across a woman who worked rather than depend on their family. Truly, the woman was such a delight!

“And you are foreign too! I have never come across a European in my life, this is truly a delight. Where are you from, sweet Lily? What brings a woman of your background to our humble country?”

Lily laughed, funnily enough this reminded her of when she first met Enmu. Her giggles tinkling like bells that sounded pleasant to Douma’s ears.

“You can say I got here quite by accident. And I am not European, I am an American. From the state of Vermont actually. A little state in the east that is closer to the north that shares similar values to the northern territories. It’s been almost half a year and already I feel quite at home here. The people have been very polite the culture shock has taken some getting used to.”

Douma tilted his head, confused at the odd term. “Culture shock?”

“Its where someone from one place is suddenly put into another environment where the norm can be quite different. Where I am from, I was raised not to be a wife and mother, but how to survive on my own with little help. I even have a higher education than even most men would have in Japan. I love history and science which is something most women in Japan would never be exposed to.”

Douma listened to his guest’s words closely, surprised by what she was saying. He was born here and lived here his entire life as a human and as a demon. He wasn’t really exposed to any other way of life than what he has experienced here. The humans who stayed here and told him their stories gave him a glimpse of their lives, but due to his lack of emotions he truly couldn’t feel what they had gone through. He did believe that his followers deserved eternal paradise, which he gave each one when they were ready. His master also gave him several tasks to complete which he would say he is doing very well on. To kill any demon slayer, he came across. Find the blue spider lily. And locate the Ubuyashiki clan.

He has killed and consumed so many slayers that stumbled into his path, so many hashira eliminated with little thought. Unfortunately, he wasn’t much of a tracker and finding flowers wasn’t really his specialty.

“I do have a question of my own, lord Douma.”

He splayed his arms on either side of himself. “Anything, my dear flower. What is going on inside that lovely mind of yours?”

She stared at him, before lifting herself up out of her seat only to sit herself on the table right in front of Douma! She even crossed her legs giving him a glimpse of those glorious legs!

How interesting!

The only thing Douma heard was a click before suddenly there seemed to be a something made of metal in front of his face. It didn’t look very frightening, but no doubt the woman thought this was something that could be used to threaten him. It wasn’t a knife or short sword, but something that seemed hollow. Where she got it from, he had no idea.

“What does an upper moon demon want with me?”

Douma gazed unflinchingly at the barrel of Lily’s automatic hand cannon she kept on her at all times. It was small, easy to conceal, and could do a lot of damage.

“Do you think that small thing could kill me?” He inquired, finding the situation unexpected.

She shrugged, not moving here ice blue eyes away from his own rainbow ones. “Absolutely not. It would hurt like hell though. From this distance I could no doubt bust open your head like a juicy melon.”

His eyes narrowed, pleased at the woman’s response. “Are you a slayer?”

She shook her head in the negative, getting a little annoyed that every demon she came across thought she was with one of those slayers.

“No, just a woman making a living in a cruel world.”

He tilted his head, confused. “Then how would you know I was a demon? Or an upper moon for that matter?”

She lifted her hand and started counting off one by one with her fingers. “Only would meet during the night. Does not consume human food. Fangs. Pale skin. You have not stopped sniffing me since I walked in here. Kanji on the eyeballs. Need I go on?”

Douma just looked at the human in front of him. A woman who was so full of life. So full of emotions that he lacked. Completely unbothered by a powerful demon less than an arm length away from her person. He continued to meet her gaze as his head got closer to the weapon in her hands until it finally met his pale skin. The barrel right in the middle between his eyes.

His rainbow gaze challenged hers, daring her to fire at him. Wanting to see what a human would do. If she had the resolve to attack first.

Lily raised an eyebrow, “You don’t think I will shoot you?”

His eyes didn’t flinch, too hypnotized by the ice blue ones above him. “I want to see if you are as strong as you let yourself be perceived.”

“You haven’t done anything to warrant me shooting you.”

He grinned, his rainbow eyes peering through his lashes.

“Until now.”

Quicker than Lily thought possible she was on her back. On top of the table with Douma now above her, using his arms to cage her in with his large form. When his mouth opened, either to gloat or to take a bite out of her is when Lily did it.

Fired her gun and ended up shooting half of Douma’s face off due to their proximity to each other. Everything above his nose was gone, his rainbow eyes, his hair, everything. Leaving behind only visible red strands not unlike yard.

And the fountain of blood that was now all over Lily and her red and black dress.

Talk about a waste.

Not having the time to deal with the fact there was demon blood all over her she made a decision. She quickly turned around and quickly tried to vault over the table when a hand grabbed at her hips to drag her closer.

Her back met the front of Douma’s, his large pale hands grasping at her hips, keeping her right where she was. His head had regenerated, and she did not like the look in his eyes.

Feel no emotions her ass.

He certainly didn’t need ‘emotion’ to have what was clearly moving against her ass.

She was in trouble.

No doubt about it.

“That wasn’t very nice,” Douma murmured. Using his left hand to keep her in place while his other gently brushed a loose strand of her blonde hair away from her forehead.

Only for him to be shocked as if hit by lightning, the sensation burning through both of their bodies, but not enough to let Douma let her go.

If anything, his grip on her tightened until it was almost painful.

Oh no, Lily thought. Not again, please not again. This can’t be happening.

But it was and Lily didn’t know that at this moment she was incredibly screwed.

In more ways than one.

Douma turned her back around with force, her wide blue gaze meeting his rainbow ones. His face may have been blank, but she could figure out what was going on in his head. In hers, all she could think about was how completely fucked up this situation was.

“Little mate, little mate, where have you been all this time?” he purred. Using his finger to gently brush her soft skinned cheek.

She should have just been eaten.

It would have been a lot less trouble.
