Work Text:
When Nedzu heard the buzzer ring to confirm the guest to come in, what he expected was just another parent to escort their child off of the premises.
What he did not expect was an unfamiliar man that radiated evil like he had been dunked in a tub full of it.
He was an average height man, with short brown hair. His appearance certainly wouldn’t turn any heads. And just by looking at him, any normal person would think he was just another Joe.
But Nedzu was no average person.
His quirk told him there was something about the man that was dangerous. To Nedzu, the man’s eyes told the tales of hundreds of less than palatable stories. Though it was apparent the man was trying to conceal their nature, Nedzu was still set off by the aura of the man.
And no ‘average Joe’ had the sort of energy to put him of all creatures off that easily.
Despite this though, he hadn’t done any wrong doing yet, and he had no grounds to kick him out of his office yet. So Nedzu resorted to pulling the calmest expression he could muster to greet the man.
“Hello, can I help you, sir?”
The man shifted and coughed into his coat sleeve.
“Oh- yes. I am here to dismiss- uh…” The man ‘discreetly’ pulls a small sheet of paper out of his pocket to steal a glance at it, before quickly shoving it back in, “uh, Izuku Midoriya?”
His tone is slow, like he’s never said the full name out loud before. However dangerous this villain is, it’s becoming increasingly clear to Nedzu that they are comically bad at infiltrations.
Though, upon hearing Midoriya’s name, his interest is piqued. Midoriya has always been a special case at UA due to One for All. Any villain who has any interest in the young boy has been bound to be more trouble than originally thought.
Nedzu’s curiosity shows on his face, raising a brow.
“You’d like to dismiss young Midoriya?”
The man looks around the room anxious and irritated.
“Uh, yes.”
Nedzu knew there was no way he was letting Midoriya, or any student for that matter, leave with this walking ‘Danger!’ sign of a man. If his instinct was telling him he was bad news, then he was bad news.
A small smile crawls onto Nedzu’s face as he ponders the situation. He knows what to do.
“Sir, I’m afraid that to dismiss a student, you must have some sort of record stating your eligibility to do so. May I ask your name so I can look for you in our system?”
The man’s brow twitches in agitation even though he’s still smiling.
“Oh- oh yes. Of course.”
He digs back into his pocket to sneak another look at his paper. Seriously, how much worse could he get at doing this?
“My name is uh, my name is- Hisashi Midoriya. I’m the boy’s father.”
If Nedzu could look anymore surprised without his mask cracking, he would. Midoriya’s mother was practically a celebrity among UA, advocating for improved safety precautions/measures around the school and prioritization of student/teacher health.
And for how involved both young Midoriya and his mother are involved with the school, Nedzu has never heard so much as a whisper about any sort of father being in the picture.
For Nedzu, this is the nail in the coffin. He’s had his suspicions, but this certifies that this man is here to bring harm to his students– Midoriya specifically. Nedzu needs to get him to leave as soon as he possibly can.
“Well, alright then. Let me just look your name up in our systems,” Nedzu opens up the Midoriyas’ files on his computer in front of him, “and…there we go!”
Nedzu obviously doesn’t think he’ll find any ‘Hisashi Midoriya’ as an authorized parent or otherwise emergency contact, but he’s surprised when he sees a brief mention of a divorce and– oh! A disownment as well! The more you know…
And while the name is technically present in the document, nowhere does it state even a single positive remark about the man. His disownment of Midoriya alone should be enough proof to push him off of school grounds.
Nedzu faux frowns. “Hm, I’m very sorry sir! But it appears that you don’t have the authority to take young Midoriya off of school grounds!”
Nedzu smiles, baring his teeth. He doesn’t try to hide the fact that he’s won their little back and forth.
“I would suggest you escort yourself off of school grounds immediately.” He’s allowing himself to put an edge in his voice, “Unless you’d like security to do it for you of course.”
‘Hisashi’ scowls and grits his teeth.
“No that… won’t be necessary. I’ll take my leave now.”
He turns around and approaches the door, but he briefly pauses before opening the door and leaving.
“Good day to you, Nedzu. ”
He spits his name out like it’s poison, but Nedzu just smiles. He’s got what he wanted. He can’t be intimidated anymore.
“Good day to you too, Mr. Midoriya. ”
He grips the door handle one last time before he leaves.
_______
A few hours later…
All for One walks into Dr. Garaki’s lab, angier than the doctor has seen him in years. He wants to ask him what’s wrong, but Garaki also values his life, thank you.
They get to work in silence. All for One shows no signs of calming down though, so Garaki is about ten times more on edge around him as he usually is.
But by the time he breaks a beaker so hard it shatters while they’re working, Garaki can do nothing but give into his curiosity.
“M-Master? May I uh- May I ask the reason for your sour mood today?”
His voice is shaky as he speaks, but that has never phased All for One.
All for One doesn’t look at Garkai when he responds; he just grips the table beneath him harder.
“No Doctor. No you may not.”
