Chapter Text

The universe sometimes likes to fuck around see how shit ends up sometimes. Sometimes it’s  like taking your fling from first year in a random closet with a really attractive second year setter from another team at Nationals to make you feel so damn good your high on the fact you can’t seem to forget them and crave for the feeling.  And sometimes, the universe loves to play with the idea of seeing eachother again but fails to tell you that won’t happen until years later. 

Suna sometimes thinks back to that time in first years during nationals and how Semi made his world turn upside down and gave him the best experience ever. Despite it being a fling, Suna couldn’t get the ash blonde out of his head for some time. Of course, during his second year and making nationals he would have thought to see the Shiratorizawa setter but after finding out that Karasuno knocked them out of the bracket from Nationals, it was sad not see the ash -blonde a second time. Of course they follow each other's instagrams and other social media but seeing Semi in person would be a different experience. 

Not only does Suna find Semi extremely attractive, he has also seen those guitar covers on his Instagram and have been in love with the sight of these fingers gracefully plucking the strings of the guitar. Needless to say Suna was hooked on this feeling of Semi and that day at Nationals keeps playing over and over. Sometimes, Suna wished it was more and wished for that night to last longer. 

He can remember it all. The sound of volleyballs getting hit, the food from the stalls, and the electric energy that Nationals brought in. 

It was Suna’s first time on the orange court and the coward was loud and cheering. First year at Inzaiki really meant being with some of the best. His team was following their third years towards their place where they were to be seated. After getting everyone together the coach told them they have two hours till their first game starts, so you can get food, merch, and walk around a bit but return here 45 mins before play time so they can run over some plays and make sure everyone is accounted for. 

Suna wandered around and looked at all the vendors and merch tables. However, as he was looking at stuff he ran into an ash blonde wearing a purple jacket.

“Hey, watch where you're going!”

“Sorry, I was distracted” 

“It's okay, so are you going to get something?”

“I don’t know, I'm just kinda wandering around”

“You seem curious? First time here?”

“Yeah” 

Semi watched carefully at the tall yet lazy looking middle blocker from Inzariki and couldn’t be helped but drawn to the boy. The boy was intriguing and was really pretty. 

“I’m Semi Eita, second year from Shiratorizawa Academy, and you are? 

“Suna Rintarou, first year from Inarizaki High School” 

“It's nice to meet you, would you like me to show you around? Its my second time here with my team and I know the place pretty well.” 

“Sure, beats getting lost and yelled at my coach” 

“Sure thing, Anyway what are we thinking? Food? Merch? Watching another game?”

“I can go for some food and check out the merch they have”

“Alright, follow me!” 

Semi led Suna around the place and showed him all the stuff that happens at nationals. They ended up getting some food and sat down and started to talk to each other about stuff. Semi talks about getting into music instead of going pro and talks about playing in a band. Suna found it interesting that he wanted to pursue music and not continue volleyball.

“So, you want to go pro after highschool?” asked Semi 

“Yeah, or at least try, I still have two more years ahead of me, but it would be better than some office job to be honest” Suna replied

“You got the point, I have one more year to think stuff over and see where life takes me. But volleyball will always be special to me no matter what. I met some really good friends and plan to keep them as close as I can” 

“I respect that, anyway since you have a love of music, who are some of your favorite artist?”

“Hmmmm… that's a good question, I really like Chase Atlantic, Arctic Monkeys, and The Neighborhood. How about you?”

“Oddly similar, I like Chase Atlantic, Cigarettes After Sex, Fallout Boy, some Green Day and others. It's a mix of indie and punk rock.” 

“Oh, nice we have to trade off playlist sometime and or hang out dude” 

“That would be nice.” Suna said 

“Oh and I can show you some of the songs on guitar sometime” 

“Wait, you know how to play?”

“Yeah, I always loved the guitar, but I also play the piano, bass, drums, and know how to produce a bit.” 

“Wow that's a lot, but that's really cool!” 

“Thanks, anyway, did you want to walk around a bit or do you have to go yet?”

Suna checked his phone and saw that 30 minutes went by and he still has an hour before heading back. 

“I'm good, I still have an hour” 

“Hey, did you want to go somewhere quiet? I have been working on a song and I would like to have some outside input about it?”

“Sure, let's find a place”

Both boys got up and started to walk and find a quiet place to hangout. Soon enough they stumbled across an empty hallway that led to a closet.

Semi then leaned against the wall and then slid down and sat on the ground and gestured Suna to do the same. Suna went over to sit next to him on the ground and Semi pulled out his phone and started to show Suna some of the lyrics and play some of the beginning chords to the song. 

“Yeah, so that's most of it, it's not finished at all but it a work in progress” 

“It sounds really good, what’s it about?”

“Well, it about unrequited love and finding out that you are loved by someone else but you wont get that until years later in life”

“That's bittersweet, but it's really hopeful as well. Thanks for showing me” Suna said looking into Semis eyes 

“Yeah anytime” Semi stared back 

Both boys can suddenly feel the tension between them thicken with desire and want. Something pulled them into it.

*Few Years later*

“Ahh Suna Rintoru, you will be rooming with Semi Etia, in room 3F, here is your key and I believe Semi is already there” said the girl at the front desk of the dorms facility.

“Okay, thanks”

This is great, I'm rooming with the guy that I hooked up with during my first year at Nationals. How did the world become this?! 

It had been a few years since that day at finals and sadly I did not see the Semi again in my second year and his third. According to him, they got knocked out by Karasuno and warned me about this freak duo. Which was helpful but also kinda sad that I didn't see him at all for his last year. After that, Semi’s text became less and soon no longer at all, which made sense because he was probably dealing with college now. On top of that, my senior year was here and I was vic-captain and Atsumu was made Captain. We did well for our last year of volleyball together, and sadly got knocked out in the 4th round of finals. But, we celebrated and had a good time with the team and passed down the ropes to the next captains. 

After that the school year wrapped and everyone was off to either college or pro teams. Atsumu landed a spot with MSYB Black jackals and Osamu went to culinary school. I ended up being offered for EJP Rajin but wanted to also go to college and get a degree in case something happens. You never know with sports injuries how far or how damaging one can be. So after much thought and applying for schools, I got accepted into Tokyo University. And my roommate happens to be a second year student who also happens to be my fling from high school back in the day. Just great! Suna thought as he made his way to his dorm room.

Please for the love of god, don't be in here! Suna thought as he opened the room. The room was like a small apartment style, there were two rooms, a shared common area, small kitchen and one bathroom. Suna walked in with his bags and noticed it was empty, thankfully and found his empty room and started to unpack his things. After an hour of getting everything out and settle in he heard the door open. 

“Yeah, my roommate should be here soon, Tendo, so I got to go!’

“Yeah, I don't know…what no way dude…shut up…anyway i got to talk to you later” Semi hung up and noticed at the entry another pair of shoes. Looks like my roommate is here, he thought. He made his way into the apartment and saw his roommate but then froze. 

Suna heard someone and looked up and saw Semi. 

The two just started at each other for a long time before Semi decided to speak up,

“Hey, I guess we're roommates, it's good to see you Suna” 

“Uh yeah, it's good to see you again. It's been a while” 

“Yeah, sadly we lost a going nationals to Karasuno”

“Well, we got beaten by them in nationals so I know the feeling” Suna chuckled a bit 

Semi let out a light laugh, “I suppose so, um do you need any help?’ 

“No, I pretty much got everything out okay, thanks though” 

“Yeah, no problem, i'm gonna go head to bed, its kinda late” Semi said awkwardly 

“Yeah, I understand, I’m pretty tired as well, so same, have a good night!” Suna said 

“Yeah You too!” Semi said and the headed off to his room quickly 

Goddammit why is this happening to me! Why is he cuter and why are we roommates?! This is so awkward Semi thought in his head.

This college experience is going to be hell!
