Work Text:
“You can leave them here,” Tongrak said, closing the door as Mahasamut obediently placed the shopping bags down by the stairs, “we can take them up to your room later. Right now I want you to heat up the food for us.”
“Yes, Khun Tongrak.”
The sweet smile Rak aimed at him as he made his way to the kitchen made something inside Mahasamut flutter. Since the conversation the two have had in the fitting room, Tongrak seemed more at peace, resembling more the man Mahasamut had started to learn on the island. Before the walls around him tripled upon their arrival in Bangkok.
Rak sat down at the table observing Mahasamut as he started reheating the food he made last night.
“Since you’re agreeing to eat my cooking from now on, we’ll need to go grocery shopping again. You can tell me what food you’d like to eat, I can make it for you.”
“You can buy whatever you need. I’ll pay for everything, I don’t want you using your salary for this.” Mahasamut nodded, internally cringing at the wording. Although he was money hungry, he still didn’t know how to entirely feel about his relationship with Tongrak being viewed as strictly transactional. But that was okay, Khun Rak was starting to warm up again and soon enough Mut would change his feelings towards them.
“So were all the extra clothes really necessary?” Once the food was done, Mahasamut changed the subject, placing the plate in front of Rak. He sat opposite of him and watched as the writer seemed to think over his answer.
“Well I just want you to look nice,” Tongrak said finally, distracting himself with the food.
“Are you saying you don’t like how I dress?” The question was aimed as a tease towards the man, no real accusations behind it.
“No. That’s not what I meant. I just want you to… look even nicer.” Rak was avoiding looking at him which confirmed Muts' thoughts that although he was trying to act nonchalant, Tongrak was feeling shy revealing the information.
“You know, Khun Tongrak, I’d look even better with no clothes at all,” he couldn’t help but laugh, Tongraks head snapping up.
“Mahasamut!”
“Ow… you didn’t seem to have any problem with that back at my house,” Mut mused, taking a bite from his own plate, enjoying the stunned expression on Tongraks face.
“Well we’re not at your place, are we?”
“No, you’re right, my whole house is probably the size of your kitchen.”
“That’s- you’re once again changing the meaning of my words,” Rak pout, frowning slightly, “I liked seeing where you live,” he added after a moment. “It gave me more of an insight on you.”
Mut hummed, placing more food on Tongraks plate. “But I bet it’s nice to be back home.”
Rak was quiet for a while and when Mahasamut looked up he could see that man was watching him.
“I’m not so sure,” he admitted, “your house looked more lived in. Cosy. This place? It’s big, I live alone so I guess sometimes it gets lonely,” he shrugged.
Mahasamut wasn’t expecting that, but a look into Tongraks feelings was a pleasant surprise. He was happy that Rak was opening up to him again after being ignored since their arrival to Bangkok.
“You’re not living alone anymore, I won’t let you feel lonely. For as long as you let me, I will stay by your side. I will cook you meals and eat with you. I'll be here if you need inspiration for writing or if you want to talk to someone. Just don’t shut me out?” he said, referring to the night before, “let me help you feel less alone, because now you have me to lean on, Khun Tongrak.”
Mahasamut had called P’Vivi last night with the intention to find out more about the stuck up brat that had made Khun Rak so unsettled. But before the girl could tell him anything, Mut had hung up, coming to the conclusion that Tongrak should be the one to tell him about Prin. And that is only if he wanted Mahasamut to know more, to let him into that part of his life.
So Mahasamut had decided that later he would ask Khun Tongrak about yesterday's situation in the hopes that the turn in their relationship meant that Rak would once again let him inside.
Tongrak seemed stunned at the admission, at loss for words before shoving more food in his mouth, opting out to not answering at all. Mahasamut was convinced that his heart would explode as Rak chose that moment to aim his way another one of his sweet smiles that he’s been receiving for the past few hours.
He wished that smile would never leave Khun Tongraks face.
