5 Times You Saved the Justice League + the 1 Time They Saved You

Summary:

Many people have the misconception that heroes never need to be saved themselves. They definitely do, like all the time, although a lot won't admit it. Sometimes they're saved by the most unlikely people. Like you.

Notes:

This is the first fic that I have ever posted online anywhere! I've been an avid a03 user for years though. I've been rewatching Justice League 2001 and Justice League Unlimited so it's definitely more Timmverse SuperWonderBat but you can definitely read this as most of other verses. This is going to be more of a SuperWonderBat/Reader fic but I will include the other members in a non-romantic way. Enjoy! ヾ(•ω•`)o

Chapter 1: The Crater

Chapter Text

I mean it could be worse right? Yeah Lex Luthor trying to destroy the Justice League, mainly Superman was never a good thing, but by now it’s practically the norm. It never really surprises anyone anymore when the Riddler takes Gotham hostage with his riddles because he wants to prove that he’s smarter than Batman. Or when Captain Boomerang decides to try to rob every jewelry store in Central City. In the grand scheme of things, today’s catastrophic event isn’t even that bad. It’s just Lex Luthor fighting the Justice League, for whatever reason it is today. Yeah large amounts of debris falling from the towering skyscrapers in Metropolis, was pretty hazardous to your health but the chunks were pretty easy to doge, if you were paying attention.

Despite the chaotic nature of the battle, the actual day was quite beautiful. The sky was clear, the wind had an occasional breeze, although that nice breeze might just  be the Flash whizzing by in all this chaos. It was a beautiful spring morning, that just so happened to have a battle to accompany it.

According to the “Justice Watch” app on (Y/N)’s phone. Which was an alert and safety app that provided real time updates regarding villains, nearby danger zones, battles, and hazardous conditions. The newest update notified her that she was far away from the action, so she could relax a little.  Out of all the villains, Luthor was one of the least physically destructive. Luthor isn’t the type of villain that can pick up a 300 ft building and throw it across the whole city. Thank god that was the case. As much as villains fighting heroes in cities was normal, nobody really wants to deal with whole highways being shut off because some dick hole villain decided to throw it at Martian Manhunter. Of course, (Y/N) still had to be aware of her surroundings but in theory she can carry on her day fairly normally. As normal as one could get in a world of aliens, monsters, and superpowered beings in spandex.

(Y/N) took a deep breath, to help calm her nerves. She continued to walk down the street, although her hands shook with anxiety. Just the thought of a heated fight, being in the same vicinity scared her. She had, of course, seen a lot of the fights on the news or on social media but luckily never in person. Occasionally, a friend who was saved by a member of JL would sing the praises of the members and excitedly retell the situation in colorful fashion. No matter how excited or grateful, a friend was towards being saved. There was an air of fear or apprehension. The unspoken thought of “what if Green Lantern didn’t block the bullets from hitting me” or “what if Hawkgirl didn’t catch me in time?”. The terrifying idea, that if a super wasn’t there, you’d be badly hurt or worse. Thankfully, everyone she personally knew came out of each scenario alive and well, with just a few scrapes and bumps. Having faith in the league helped, steel her nerves. Just a little.

She was just here visiting a friend in Metropolis for the week. She was considering moving here. (Y/N) was an aspiring clothing designer, right now she was working for a small tailor shop in Gateway City. The shop mainly focused on suits but accepted other tailoring jobs. She liked her boss and the work but she was still pretty much an apprentice. She felt a little stagnant in her position. Hoping a change of scenery might give her an idea on how she was going to progress in her career. Also Metropolis has one of the most iconic fashion districts in the country, of course a little fabric splurge was needed. As much as she loved the idea of being in a fashion hotspot like Metropolis, the more frequent villain appearances was a huge turn off.  Yeah Gateway City also has villains challenging Wonder Woman every once and a while but compared to Metropolis it’s really infrequent. Most of Wonder Woman’s rogue’s gallery is pretty global anyway.

All of these thoughts rolled through her head, while walking down the street. (Y/N) was making her way down to the famous Metropolis fashion district to peruse the fabric selections. A brown sugar iced cold brew coffee was in her hand, as her emotional support walking treat. She adjusted her headphones, the tunes playing from them helped her distract herself from the anxieties around the situation. (Y/N) sipped her coffee, as she hit the crosswalk button with her elbow. She was probably freaking out over nothing, the Justice League will probably have the situation under control soon. Thankfully, there weren’t that many cars around. She waited there for around 30 seconds for the stop sign to turn red. This is usually when the walk sign will turn on, and pedestrians are able to safely cross the crosswalk.

Usually.

Usually there’s not a blast of dust and smoke in the middle of that said crosswalk. Luckily, there were no cars on the street. Actually, the street is now oddly vacant. It’s just (Y/N) and this cloud of dust that’s right in front of her. The strength of the blast knocked her back into the building directly behind her. The impact punched all of the air out of her body.   The dirt and debris from the blast whipped at her face, causing her eyes to water. Her headphones flew off her head to god knows where. The coffee in her hand tumbled out of it and splattered across the sidewalk. All of this happened so fast she couldn’t even properly register what just happened. (Y/N) took a deep inhale, after losing all of her air to the  sudden jolt. Because of that deep inhale of dust, she started coughing. Although the sudden impact of dust and smoke was extremely forceful, it was quick. The cloud of smoke was slowly dissipating. Through the smoke, she could now see a figure floating over a huge crater. That huge crater was the crosswalk she was about to use just a few seconds ago. The floating figure was saying something but it was hard to hear over her own coughing. (Y/N) firmly covered her mouth, with the inside of her shirt and leaned forward.

“....are an idiot….. Good luck getting out of that…. Nobody is here to save you…” It was hard to hear clearly, with all the adrenaline pumping through her ears. The mysterious floating figure chuckled sinisterly and quickly flew away. It looked like Lex Luthor, judging by the green color, body armor shape, and style of flying. Luthor uses a flying combat suit he personally made. The propulsion of the feet and hands looked like what (Y/N) had seen on tv before.

“Enugh” A weak groan emanated from the crater. The crater was deep, it was hard to see what was in the center from the outer edges of it. Slow, weak, and faint sounds of pain floated out of the cavity. Honestly, the sounds could be extremely easy to miss, if the rest of this street wasn’t dead silent. She could barely hear it over her own heartbeat and coughing.

Time seemed to pause, the color of her vision seemed to shift into black and white. Is this what the Flash feels like all the time? Cause if so, that sucks. A nauseating wave rushes (Y/N). The beverage she was sipping earlier, threatening to make a second appearance. Her heart was already beating like crazy but now it was bouncing around her ribcage with fever. She leaned over onto her hands and knees to try to center her breathing. (Y/N) hung low, while trying her best not to totally collapse into herself.

“Ough” Another weak moan trickled up the giant cavity in the ground. Without (Y/N)’s cerebral input, her body started to slowly crawl forward towards the crater. The broken gravel digging into her hands and knees were barely noticeable as she inched forward. It didn’t take long for her to reach the inner edge of the crater. A gasp jumped out of her lips. The iconic red cape was torn and tattered, a lot of the red  fabric was floating around the crater. The superhuman body that was usually adorned with blue and that giant “S” symbol on the chest was covered in bright glowing green.

“Superman!” The word leaped out of her mouth without realizing it. It was an automatic response. The next automatic knee jerk response caused (Y/N) to stand up, and climb down to the man of steel. (Y/N) maneuvered down the slope quickly, not noticing the rocks kicking up at her feet. “Superman!” She shouted again to get his attention, but he had no recognizable response. A vicious chill ran down her spine. She never thought of Superman ever getting hurt. He seemed so untouchable. The closer she got to Superman, the brighter the glowing green thing that was covering him got.(Y/N) stood over Superman, before kneeling down beside him.

“Hmm. What is this?” She bit her lip, as she leaned closer to Superman.  Getting a better look at the glowing matter, she realized it was a bunch of rocks, attached to this giant net. The giant glowing green net was over his whole body. With the way he was reacting to it, it looked poisonous or like it weighed 800 tons.

“Superman?’ She gingerly placed her hands on his shoulders and shook him. He wasn’t responding to anything. “Oh god, I’ve been in Metropolis for 2 days and I’m going to see Superman die” (Y/n) panickedly whispered to herself. She let out a big sigh and looked around the net again. How was she going to get this off of him? (Y/N) inched her finger over one of the glowing rock points of the net. Absolutely terrified that the rock was going to burn her or worse kill her. If it can hurt Superman, what can it do to her?  With her eyes basically closed, (Y/N) took the plunge and placed her finger on the glowing rock……

Nothing happened. No burning sensation. No sudden death, at least not from what she can tell. With more confidence, she placed her whole hand on the net, purposely touching the glowing rocks at this point. Again nothing happened.

“Huh” Weird. Now with just a little less concerned with dying, (Y/N) wrapped her fingers around the fibers of the net and started pulling. Yeah the net was heavy, but it was also huge. However, it wasn’t heavy enough for her to feel it was impossible for her to move it off of Superman. She was really expecting to lift something that only someone like Superman could handle, but it was just heavy. Not superhuman heavy, it was normal heavy. It took some work and leverage but (Y/N) huffed and tugged to pull the net off of Superman. When the net was around half-way off of him, it seemed like he started to wake up.

“Ugh, what’s going on?” His voice wavered a little. No pun intended but he still looked a little green. Superman weakly looked around until his eyes landed on (Y/N) in the middle of tugging the net off of him.

“Um, hello?’ (Y/N) replied awkwardly. It wasn’t the most flattering circumstance to be in, it was hard pulling this thing. It was taking a lot of her brain and physical power.

“A little more please” It was definitely a ask but it sounded like a plea. A plea from Superman was pretty scary. It reinvigorated (Y/N) though, seeing him look better was great motivation. It gave her enough energy to pull the whole thing off of him, and pull it a little away from him. (Y/N) stepped forward towards Superman, and bent over to rest on her knees. “Thank you, you saved me” Superman layed a gentle hand onto (Y/N)’s shoulder. SHe almost had to do a double take. THE Superman is thanking her for saving him? She might have actually died and gone to heaven. (Y/N) stood up to her height, of course nowhere near Superman’s frame.

“No problem” (Y/N) breathed out. She really wanted to say something cooler but she was feeling pretty light headed and couldn’t exactly be witty at the moment.

“What’s your name?” The way he asked was so genuine. Like he actually cared about this random girl who’s about to have an asthma attack. A part of (Y/N) thought that the “boy scout” persona was exactly that, a persona but now she’s starting to think that Superman is genuinely like that.

“My name is (Y/N)” (Y/N) said with a natural smile and extended hand. Which Superman actually took and shook. His hand was really big and warm. His hands were calloused like a stereotypical cowboy type of man.

“Well, thank you (Y/N), I hate to just leave after you saved me like this but I need to go stop Luthor. Stay safe!” Before (Y/N) could even respond, he zoomed away with a charming smile. His red flowing tattered cape soon disappeared behind the clouds.

Metropolis might not be the next place to settle down. But now (Y/N) felt better about the city after meeting its number 1 protector. A “Justice Watch” notification pinged on (Y/N)’s phone 40 minutes later. Luthor was apprehended by the Justice League and in police custody. Yeah, it could be worse but thankfully it’s not.

Chapter 2: No Hesitation

Notes:

So sorry, this took me so long! I had a hard time trying to start this chapter, I had to scrap a whole other beginning but I really like the way this turned out. I tried to be more descriptive here, please let me know how I did. I really want to improve my writing style. I feel like I have a lot to improve on. Also I'm still figuring out how to format on here, so sorry if it looks weird. Anyway, enjoy! ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

Chapter Text

Chur Chur Chur Chur Chur Chur. The sound of the sewing machine filled the small, sewing workshop where (Y/N) worked. The vibration of the sewing machine humming through her fingers, as she guided the fabric under the foot. It was so easy to get lost doing this type of work. She loved it, although it did have it’s frustrations. Like when the sewing machine decides to randomly bunch thread. Or when she misreads measurements because her boss’s handwriting should be considered hieroglyphs.

(Y/N) thoroughly enjoys her job but desperately wants to progress. (Y/N) chewed on her lip in thought. There was an “Emerging Designers” showcase opportunity in Gotham that was going to happen around a year from now. Intellectually, she knew that it would be a good idea to apply. It could provide exposure to bigger opportunities and the $2,000 cash prize was a nice bonus too. The idea of a ton of people looking at her, looking at what she created, and the idea of being judged by a mass of people was extremely scary. As much as (Y/N) loved fashion and the idea of being a major designer. The spotlight was a little too bright for her.

The sound of the sewing machine slowed down, as she lifted her foot off of the foot pedal. She was checking the seams that she just created on the pants that she was working on. Anxieties running through her brain, although her face portrayed a stoic expression. (Y/N) didn’t think of herself as a very brave person. Public speaking made her want to throw up. Making the “first move” on a date, made her want to flee the country. Going outside of her comfort zone was never an option. A part of her was debating spending the rest of her life in this stuffy sewing room until she died. Working here, in this windowless room seemed more appealing than taking the leap of the unknown. The other part of her knew that she needed to take a leap somewhere or she was going to regret it. (Y/N) huffed to herself. She needed some coffee.

(Y/N) set her work down on the table and grabbed her purse. She gave a slight nod to Mr. Rogers as she passed by the front desk. He wasn’t paying attention, he was reading an article on his phone. The font was huge because he couldn’t see well without his reading glasses. (Y/N) was able to see the headline of the article as she passed by and it made her smirk. “Hawkgirl! Are the wings real or for decoration?” Why do people care if Hawkgirl’s wings are real or not? (Y/N) didn’t know but to be fair, that was not the craziest superhero related tabloid headline that she ever read. Her personal favorite, that she and her friends reference all the time is “Does Martian Manhunter is Gay?”. (Y/N) giggled to herself just thinking about it, as she exited out of the tailor shop. The coffee shop is only a block away, so (Y/N) usually chooses to walk there.

It’s a sticky summer day, with practically no wind. (Y/N)’s sundress moved slightly as she walked down the street. The wind started to pick up a little. (Y/N) was grateful for the breeze, she was already sweating on this short walk. The breeze of the wind kept picking up. Her dress started to dance more freely around her body. The force of the wind got even stronger. The sky also got darker. It was 2pm. (Y/N) furrowed her brow, she checked her weather app this morning and there was no indication that a storm was coming today. (Y/N) pulled her phone out of her tote bag. While still walking, she opened the weather app on her phone. The cheery cartoon sun, with 0% chance of rain or clouds next to it, confused her further.

VBOOM! Something huge hit the building that she was just about to walk in front of. Thankfully, that huge blast happened just a foot from her. The force of the blast almost lifted her whole body off the ground. During the moment she was able to grab a light pole that was next to her for support. A piece of concrete flew straight towards her eyebrow. Dust and debris flew around her, each one adding a little bit of dirt and damage to her visage. Her phone had immediately flown out of her hand, to god knows where. She could only pray that it survived. She just bought it, and she’s nowhere from paying the damn thing off. (Y/N)’s s and hair whipped around wildly. The mysterious blast had created a giant hole in the abandoned building that it struck. Some of the damage extended onto the street. The concrete and gravel looked like a giant hand took a giant scoop out of the ground. This whole event only lasted around 5 seconds.

“What the fuck?” (Y/N) gasped out. She tightly grasped the pole, scared that something else was going to knock her off her feet. (Y/N) hugged the pole, as she slid down. Her feet could hold her up no longer. She instinctively pushed her hair out of her face but came into contact with something wet. She furrowed her brow and pulled her hand back to look at it. (Y/N) was bleeding from her brow bone area. Maybe that was why she’s feeling light headed. (Y/N) was in a stupor staring at her bloody hand, until she heard some movement from the giant hole in the building.

It sounded like rubble was being moved around. (Y/N)’s feet moved on their own accord. She shuffled closer towards the origin of the sound. She had to do some odd maneuvering around some huge pieces of rubble. (Y/N) groggily entered the building. She didn’t see much initially. There were no obvious signs of what hit the building, until a shimmer caught (Y/N)’s eyes. Her vision was pretty blurry, so she shuffled closer to it. The colors were white and red? Oh, (Y/N) was getting a little bit of a deja vu feeling. Or she was about to pass out. All of this was starting to feel a tad familiar. As she got closer to it, she could tell it was a boot. IT WAS A FOOT.

“Oh my god!” (Y/N) stumbled towards the person who was trapped under the huge pieces of rubble. There were several rocks on top of this person. Weakly, (Y/N) began to push the first rock off the pile. Black spots and bright flashes started to cloud her vision. Made that rock hit her head harder than she initially thought. It took all of her strength to push the first rock off and there were several more on top of this person, who was somehow still alive. The rock tumbled down the pile and off into the rest of the rubble. (Y/N) leaned against the pile, to regain her strength. It took a good 10 minutes but (Y/N) was able to push 5 mid-sized rocks off of the pile. The piece of rubble was insanely large and there was absolutely no way that (Y/N) could move that herself. It had to be the size of a small car.

“Uugh” A moan came from under the car sized piece of rubble. Well at least there was still hope that the person under there was still alive and hopefully not a human pancake.

“Ah uh” A whimper fell out of (Y/N)’s mouth as she fought to keep up right. Her head was killing her, as legs were begging to collapse under her. Everything was spinning around her, and her stomach decided to join the spin class. (Y/N) closed her eyes, in hopes that the spinning would stop. It did not. Her eyes fluttered open again, she had somehow turned herself around. Another bright reflection caught her eye. It was near the entrance of where she entered from. She stumbled over to the reflection, in hopes that it would be a pipe that she could use to get some leverage to lift the rubble. (Y/N) was standing right in front of it, but it was hard to identify due to her blurry vision. (Y/N) leaned against the crumbled wall for support. She slowly slid down to get a closer look at the blurry object. Actually objects. It looked like a sword and a shield?

(Y/N)’s hand started to inch towards the sword and shield but snapped it back when there was a sudden sound started to emanate behind her. The large piece of rubble began to move. It teeter-tottered back and forth before being lifted to the right side. (Y/N) could feel the vibrations of the huge piece of rubble falling to its side. The impact further aggravating her increasing headache. (Y/N) definitely had a concussion, cause that couldn’t be Wonder Woman. It was indeed the Amazonian warrior herself.

“Wond-!” (Y/N) tried to shout out in excitement and concern but the sudden exertion sent a strong pang of pain to her head. She looked up through her squinted eyes. Wonder Woman had not moved any further. She laid still on the ground. Maybe she only had the strength to move the rubble and that was it. (Y/N) sluggishly stood up, she had to lean against the wall and rest before even thinking of continuing. As (Y/N) was leaning against the wall, she heard a weird whirring metallic sound. It was definitely coming from outside. It was getting closer, faster, and louder. (Y/N) turned around to look in the direction that Wonder Woman seemed to fall from. There was nothing at first. Just the sound slowly becoming louder. Then (Y/N) saw some movement among the clouds. Little black spots moving through the air, up and down. (Y/N) squinted her eyes, as if that was going to help her vision. Initially, (Y/N) thought that it was a flock of birds moving in. Of course, it’s not because why would anything be normal around here? The “flock” was now about 15 city blocks away. (Y/N) could now tell that it was mechanical men? With wings?

        “Oh that can’t be good”

It wasn’t.

“Oh god, oh god, oh god” (Y/N) repeatedly whispered to herself as the flock of 6 flying mechanical men grew closer. Absolutely hating, the flood of pain and anxiety rushing through her body, (Y/N) quickly crouched down to pick up the discarded sword and shield.

“What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck do I do?” (Y/N) harshly whispered, as she hurriedly limped towards a still knocked out Wonder Woman. (Y/N) dropped the sword and shield from her hands, the clattering sound startled her a little bit. (Y/N) crouched down closer to Wonder Woman and quickly looked her over. She was even more gorgeous and insanely buff up close. (Y/N) sighed to herself, she really wished that she could have met Wonder Woman in better circumstances. (Y/N)’s eyes frantically inspected Wonder Woman, she was not in a great state. You could tell she was battling something fierce and powerful. She had cuts and bruises littered all over her body. Surprisingly her suit held up well, it looked in better shape than Superman’s suit when (Y/N) had met him. Another time and day (Y/N) would have loved to gush over the craftsmanship and quality of Wonder Woman’s outfit but there were murderous creatures rapidly approaching.

“Wonder Woman?” (Y/N) used her left hand to gently cradle Wonder Woman’s face and her right hand to cup her shoulder. She used the hand on the shoulder to shake Wonder Woman. The only reaction that was given was a light groan.

“Wonder Woman? Please, you have to wake up. I don’t know-” (Y/N) stopped mid sentence. She noticed something in Wonder Woman’s ear. It looked like some bluetooth device. Maybe it was some type of communication to the Justice League.

“THE JUSTICE LEAGUE!” (Y/N) yelped excitedly, she was getting used to the pain but every movement hurt. (Y/N) felt a little reinvigorated at the thought of some super help. She quickly grabbed the piece out of Wonder Woman’s ear, and placed it in her own. (Y/N) didn’t hear anyone talking through the piece.

“Um hello? Justice League?” (Y/N) waited for a response, as she looked back to check on the flock’s distance. They were getting incredibly close, maybe 2 or 3 minutes away. Nobody responded. Of course, the damn thing is broken or nobody is picking up the Justice phone or whatever they call it.

“I don’t know if anyone can hear me, but if anyone can. Wonder Woman is really injured and there’s some robot bird men flying over here. They look really dangerous. Oh! You probably need to know where we are! We’re in the historic downtown district of Gateway City. There’s a building with a giant hole in the side, you can’t miss it- OW!” The earpiece gives a tiny shock to her ear. Okay maybe putting a foreign object into her ear was not the best idea. She threw it out of her ear and on the ground. The whirring sound was undeniably closer. (Y/N) whipped her head around, which was not a good idea cause that almost made her pass out. After recovering, from the self-inflicted whiplash (Y/N) opened her eyes to the flock lowering down from the sky onto the street.

They were huge, they all had to be around 6’ tall, and they all looked identical. Their wings were a crude design, just the very basics of what defined a wing. The metal men were covered in what looked like high tech microchips and wires. Each wire and bit of metal efficiently woven to create the framework that was slowly marching towards the two injured women. All the robot men were identical, there was no leader or difference in any of the builds it seemed. They each held a weapon that looked like a meat cleaver in one of their hands. Each step they made sounded like a superactive haunted junkyard. Clang, clang, clang, resonated as they slowly got closer. Now the flock was directly in front of the giant entrance of the building. (Y/N) inhaled deeply, her hands shook as she swiftly picked up the sword and shield she dropped earlier next to Wonder Woman. The weapons were extremely heavy, Wonder Woman always made them seem so light. She had to awkwardly figure out how to insert her arm into the holster, while a group of murder robots were staring at her.

“Stay back! I won’t let you touch her!” The quiver in her voice really solidified her as an authority figure. Somehow, her obviously alpha visage didn’t deter the 6’ evil looking robot men that were encroaching on her space. The flock were now in the building. (Y/N) gripped Wonder Woman’s shield on her left arm and the sword in her sweaty right hand. (Y/N) dug her toes into the ground, the dust kicked up around her. As (Y/N) charged forward, with a guttural roar, black sprinkles danced in her vision, bile swimming up her throat like salmon in a river. She raised her sword arm as high as her arm could extend and put all of her energy into the downward swing towards the metal man in front of her. The sword savagely sliced halfway through the robot in a diagonal manner from shoulder to mid chest. Sparks and computer parts sprung out of the fresh “wound”. The robot stopped dead in its tracks. The glow emanating from the eyes and center of the robot started to brighten and dim repeatedly. Its limbs and head were glitching violently. Each quick jerk was unpredictable and sporadic until it suddenly just stopped. The other 5 robots just seemed to stand there and watch.

(Y/N) readjusted her grip on the sword and tried to pull it out of the robot with one hand. The damn sword was stuck in the robot. The adrenaline thumping in her ears was overwhelming. (Y/N) gripped both hands around the leather handle of the sword, and yanked again. Now there was movement, movement backwards, towards the ground, and it was taking (Y/N) with it. The small burst of victory filled (Y/N) with renewed energy, at least until she realized that the robot was pulling her forward and the sword was still stuck. It seemed like everything was moving in slow motion as she fell. She could appreciate the welding details on the neck of the mechanical man. The haunting glow from the other ones reminded her of an old night light she had as a kid. The smell of oil rushed through her nose, a memory of an old friend working on his car resurfaced. This was all very magical and cinematic until the robot slammed on the ground, with (Y/N) attached.

Her body surgered downward on top of the rigid hard metal frame. The pommel of the sword swiftly dragged against the side of her head. Thankfully, not making full contact on her skull. Although the bruising was definitely going to ache later. Her ribcage fully collided with the unforgiving material of the metal body, the impact sucked out all of the wind from her lungs. (Y/N) held onto the pommel the whole way down, which caused her body to rock forward into the sword. The momentum of her body surging forward, made her shoulder and collarbone slam into the handle of the sword. The shield on her left arm thankfully protected the left side of her body the most. Although, the feeling of the shield ramming into the side of her body was not pleasant.

(Y/N)’s soft human body bounced on top of the huge metal frame. Not the worst, mount that (Y/N) has experienced to be honest. This whole series of events only happened in a manner of seconds. The sound of the robot man scraping against the concrete floor, sounded like a car driving on rims. A split second after the crash, one of the robots to (Y/N)’s right began to swiftly swing down its arm at her. Instincts took over her body, she rolled off the robot and towards her left. Thankfully, her momentum unjammed the sword that was impaled in the deactivated metal man formerly beneath her. During the roll, she accidently sliced another robot that was close to her. The sword cleaved off one of its legs. (Y/N) was now chest down on the ground, surrounded by 5 killer robots. Another robot quickly approached her and hastily swung its arm down towards her.

(Y/N) quickly sat up on her butt and raised her shield arm in defense. The shield saved her life but the force of the blow pushed her torso to the ground. (Y/N) was forced flat on her back, (Y/N) winced and closed her eyes in pain, before opening her eyes to a metal fist quickly hurtling towards her face. Her body once again taking over, (Y/N) rolled to her right. The colliding metal fist narrowly missed her. The impact of the punch cracked the concrete. Seeing that made (Y/N)’s eyes widened in shock. She was way in over her head for sure. She couldn’t really dwell on that, (Y/N) sloppily but quickly scrambled to her feet.

As soon as she stood up another arm was swinging towards her direction. Thankfully, the robot men were slow themselves. (Y/N) was just barely able to dodge the flurry of attacks that the metal man flung at her. (Y/N) was tripping over her own feet and the rubble below her in order to avoid these attacks. (Y/N) hastily stepped backwards onto a fist sized rock, causing her to fall backwards onto the ground once again.

(Y/N) gasped in fear and shock. She raised the shield up again in protection and stuck out her sword arm. With eyes closed in fear, (Y/N) accepted her death at this very moment. But she just felt a ton of weight suddenly on her and a shadow over her. After inhaling air into her deprived lungs, (Y/N) forced open her eyelids to see the metal man uncomfortably close. She sighed in relief, the robot had impaled itself on the sword.

So 2 robots down, and 4 to go. Easy, who even needs the Justice League?

She did.

Desperately.

(Y/N) lifted her leg up and pushed it against the robot’s torso until it slid off the sword. As soon as the robot slid off her sword, another robot charged at her. (Y/N) immediately started sprinting away from this charging robot. Unfortunately, another one appeared directly in front of her. She was sandwiched between 2 of the robots. Both of the robots were swinging directly for her in a horizontal motion. (Y/N)’s head whipped around side to side. While yelping, (Y/N) fell to the ground while closing her eyes and covering her head, once again accepting her fate. Behind her eyelids, (Y/N) could see bright flashes of light dancing across her lids. The sound of sparks and metal striking metal surrounded her. (Y/N) brought down her arms and pried open her eyes. The 2 metal men that had sandwiched her with murderous intent had struck each other in their respective necks. Before (Y/N) could breath a sigh of relief, one of the last robots charged at her.

(Y/N) scrambled to her feet and swung around one of the recently deactivated robots to dodge a swing heading in her direction. The strike aimed at her, hit the robot she dodged behind. The blow caused the robot chasing her to recoil, staggering it for a second. (Y/N) seized the opportunity and stabbed the robot in its side. The blow didn’t deactivate the robot but it caused it to fall to the ground. (Y/N) swiftly stood over the robot and plunged the blade into its torso. The final blow caused the robot to deactivate. Her peripheral vision caught the one legged robot hopping towards her.

It was only 2 hops away, (Y/N) moved to pull the sword out of the robot beneath her but of course it was stuck again. She couldn’t pull it out in time before the limping robot was practically on top of her. (Y/N) temporarily abandoned the sword to sloppily dodge the awkward swing of the unbalanced robot. The blade of the cleaver belonging to the robot sliced her right upper arm. The arm that she was using to wield the Amazonian’s sword.

“Agh” (Y/N) gasped in pain and gripped her arm with her other hand. Before she could fully process the pain, the robot was sending another set of attacks at her. Her movement was getting even more sluggish, with each step her energy was draining even faster. A shimmer caught her eye once more, it was Wonder Woman’s sword that was still lodged in that robot’s torso. (Y/N) regained some energy and sprinted for the discarded weapon. Even though she was feeling sluggish she was still considerably faster than the hopping robot. (Y/N) gave the sword another tug. It was still stuck. The hobbling robot was still fast approaching. She tugged it again. The damn thing was still lodged in the stupid robot’s chest. The limping robot was now a breath away from her. (Y/N) gave it one last tug. It came loose! The force of her trying to rip the sword out of the robot, caused her to fall down. Her fall caused the robot to miss her and strike the robot that the sword was previously impaled by. (Y/N) quickly stood up and raised both of her arms to the side, like a lumberjack cutting down a tree.

“HARH!” (Y/N) swung with all of her might at the robot. She somehow aimed perfectly. She decapitated the robot’s head clean off. The head bounced off the neck of the now headless robot into some pile of rubble. Sparks flew from the wires coming out of the robot’s neck. The body of it started to sway side to side until it fell over. (Y/N) stood in that downward swing pose for a solid 30 seconds. Her chest heaved up and down, breath tried to return to her. The adrenaline that was pumping her veins, started to slowly drain out. Her hands began to shake from the exhaustion creeping into her body. (Y/N) rested her hands at her sides and took a deep inhale.

She almost forgot to exhale but she did. (Y/N) looked around at the destruction around her. The sparking deactivated robots littered around the room, really painted an awful picture. Nobody was ever going to believe her about this and she wouldn’t blame them. Who was going to believe that someone like (Y/N) had defeated 6 killer robots and saved Wonder Woman? Sounds like a weird fan fiction someone wrote late at night.

(Y/N) limped back over to Wonder Woman, who unfortunately was still knocked out. She stopped next to Wonder Woman and sat down against a huge piece of concrete rubble. Hopefully, the Justice League would somehow find them and WW would get some medical help. Or even better the great amazonian could eventually wake up and walk away like nothing even happened. (Y/N) wanted to cheer for her victory in defending Wonder Woman but she was too tired to even give a ceremonial holler. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes, intending to fall asleep until she heard that awful sound again.

The whirring mechanical sound that introduced the flock, could be heard again. This time it was way louder. (Y/N)’s eyes shot open and she looked to the sky. It had to be around 30 of those robots in the sky flying straight towards the 2 women. She squinted her eyes, it looked like they were carrying a very large person.

“Oh. My. God.” (Y/N) whispered out to herself in absolute shock and disbelief. She hastily scrambled to her feet again. Her knees almost gave out on her. She practically had no gas in her tank anymore, she was completely spent. But there was no way in hell, she’d go down without trying her absolute best to protect Wonder Woman. After how much Wonder Woman had sacrificed to protect this world, this universe even, there was no way (Y/N) was going to give up. Although, her knees were wobbling and buckling (Y/N) stood up tall. She placed herself directly in front of Wonder Woman’s unconscious body. (Y/N)’s shoes bumped into Wonder Woman’s iconic red boots, the touch comforted (Y/N) a bit.

The even bigger flock touched down. There was one huge man who was not made of metal. He was insanely buff, he wore a purple tunic and had red eyes. He did not look human at all, he had to be 8’ tall. Oh (Y/N) was definitely going to die here.

“Move aside, puny pathetic human and I’ll think about letting you be one of concubines” His voice was deeply sinister. It ran chills down (Y/N)’s spine.

“Uh I don’t know who you are and I don’t care. You’re not hurting her!” (Y/N)’s wavering voice wasn't even convincing to herself.

“Ah, so be it. Another pathetic human life gone” He said it so flippantly, like he lost a nickel and it was no big deal.

Fear overtook (Y/N) she backed up even further and tripped backwards. She fell directly on top of Wonder Woman’s lap. Oh there goes that big speech about never giving up and protecting Wonder Woman with her life. I guess even in her own internal dialogue (Y/N) was all talk.

The huge monster stared directly at (Y/N), he made direct eye contact with her. His red eyes began to glow brighter and brighter. (Y/N) gasped and raised the shield to try to cover both her and Wonder Woman. (Y/N) tried to use her smaller body to cover as much of Wonder Woman’s amazonian frame as she could. (Y/N) whimpered and braced for some fiery death. However, she heard a ting sound and a dark chuckle from the huge monster.

“Seems like the princess finally decided to wake up” His dark smile could be heard through his tone of voice. His words made (Y/N) eye’s shoot open. She slowly twisted her neck to look up over her shoulders.

Wonder Woman was awake and she looked pissed. Her arm was raised and it looked like she deflected the laser beam with her bracelet. (Y/N) gasped from on top of Wonder Woman’s lap. The very woman looked down at the distressed stranger holding her equipment and gave a charming smile. Wonder Woman scooped her arms under (Y/N) and stood up. (Y/N) knew that Wonder Woman was like super strong but she wasn’t expecting to feel like a bag of grapes in her arms.

“Thank you sister for your aid. I will have to properly give you my gratitude later” Wonder Woman’s soothing deep voice immediately flooded (Y/N) with tranquility and the feeling of safety. The amazonian was staring at the monster while she was saying this, although (Y/N) could feel her genuine feelings of gratitude. Wonder Woman gently placed (Y/N) on a high slab of rubble to sit on, that was right next to them. She gently took her weapons back, her face subtly changing noticing the fresh battle scars that (Y/N) was littered with. The change was quick and barely noticeable. (Y/N) didn’t even register it, she was too enamored with the great hero in front of her.
“You know, I almost thought you dead. But I’m so very glad you aren’t. I wanted to kill you slowly with my own hands” The monster’s smile grew crookedly as he rubbed his fist together.

“Today is not the day I fall in battle Mongul. HA!” Woman Woman stated confidently before flying at super speeds directly into Mongul. She punched him in the face, the speed of her flight and the power of her punch knocked all of the surrounding robots down. Wonder Woman and Mongul began trading blows. It seemed like Wonder Woman’s little concussion nap reinvigorated her. She was absolutely whipping his ass, while juggling fighting the copious robot minions. The hero delivered a devastating punch to Mongul which caused him to cover his head and stagger. She took the opportunity to wrap his lasso around him. Wonder Woman tightened the lasso and began spinning around in circles. Using Mongul to take out his own minions, she continued spinning until tossed him into the sky, in the direction that she had fallen from 2 hours ago. It was almost comical, it kind of reminded (Y/N) of team rocket from pokemon. Wonder Woman blasted after the dot in the sky without a second thought, surely to continue her viscous assault on the monster. Thankfully, all the robots that Mongul had brought with him were decommissioned. (Y/N) gave a huge sigh and laid down on the slab of concrete that Wonder Woman had gingerly placed her on.

“I wonder if the cafe is still open. I could use a good cup of coffee” (Y/N) whispered to herself, as she fell asleep. Which she probably shouldn't have done because she definitely has a concussion.

Notes:

Okay, I know that Diana kinda saved us at the end there, but I'm not counting that as the "1 time they saved you" format. So suspend your belief a little with me. I didn't expect to write this much for Diana but once I got into a momentum I couldn't stop, which is always much better than writer's block. I know, these haven't been very romantic but I'm trying to build up to that so please bare with me if you came for some serious romance. I'm thinking of carrying this SuperWonderBat/Reader and expanding to a "bigger" fic and this is like the origin story of the relationship. Bruce is next! I don't know which league member I'm going to write to tie in, this relationship dealio but I'm thinking Flash or Martian Manhunter or I like to call him JJ. I'm yapping, but thank you for reading and please tell me how I did. Like I said, I want to really improve my writing style, so please give critiques or just praises (❤´艸`❤)

Chapter Text

People complain a lot about Gotham. Which most of them are pretty valid. The complaints are usually about crime, poverty, and horrible infrastructure. However, nobody ever brought up that parking is an absolute nightmare to (Y/N) before. (Y/N) was stuck circling around her friend’s apartment trying to find a parking space. (Y/N)’s friend asked her to cat-sit and watch his apartment while he was out of the country for 2 weeks. (Y/N) was also using the same friend’s car while he was gone. (Y/N) just came back from a late-night grocery store run, and was stuck in Gotham parking hell. Guess that’s what she gets for wanting to eat dinner. (Y/N) quickly glanced down on the clock that’s on the car’s dashboard. It is currently around 12:45 am. The time change from Gateway City to Gotham City was wreaking havoc on (Y/N)’s sleep schedule. (Y/N) sighed to herself, as she slunk further into the driver’s seat. She desperately did not want to park far from the apartment, because you know it’s Gotham. Nobody should or wants to walk any distance at night in this city. The car was creeping at a slow 5 mph, while (Y/N) was desperately searching for a spot. She lifted her foot off of the gas, and lightly banged her forehead against the steering wheel. The car came to a soft stop as she rested her head against the steering wheel and she gave a huge sigh.

(Y/N) accepted her fate and put her foot back on the gas. Guess she was going to have to find a farther parking spot. She was still going a slow 5 mph down the dark, packed street. Out of the 10 street lights that were on the street, around 6 of them were on. Out of those 6, 4 were blinking or barely working. It created an extremely warm, safe, and definitely not stabby ambience. Trash and litter floated around the grimey Gotham sidewalks. Honestly, compared to some other neighborhoods in Gotham, this one wasn’t that bad. At least it wasn’t an active territory held by one of the big bads. It was just regular gang territory, which (Y/N) oddly felt more comfortable with. (Y/N) bit her lip, she had to turn the music down in order to focus. Her eyes darted back and forth between both sides of the road to find any spot to park. A huge breath of relief swiftly left her mouth as she spotted a potential spot. By now she was around 3 blocks away from the apartment. She was practically bouncing in her seat, as she pulled the car between two others to parallel park. It wasn’t the best park job but she just wanted to be inside already.

(Y/N) turned off the car, and reached behind her to grab her groceries from the backseat. Thankfully, she only had two bags to carry back to the apartment and they were relatively light. (Y/N) climbed out of her friend’s car and out into the hot, swampy, Gotham night air. The honk from the car altering her that it’s now locked startled her a little bit. Surely, the crime in Gotham was a little sensationalized and it wasn’t that bad? Right? (Y/N) was trying to gaslight, gate-keep, girlboss herself at the moment to feel a little better about walking Gotham streets so late at night alone. (Y/N) took a deep breath, she could do this! She only has to walk 3 blocks, how bad could it go? With her resolve reinstated, (Y/N) placed her foot on the curb of the sidewalk. This was the first step on the walk home. (Y/N) was hyper-vigilant, her pace was quick but not too quick to draw attention. Her head was on a well-oiled swivel.

She made it about 10 steps before her reinstated resolve would be put to the test. (Y/N) was two cars down from her starting point, which put her in front of an alley. The alley held a large full dumpster, and various trash bags surrounding it. An extremely large shadowy figure fell from the rooftops and into the alleyway. The shadowy figure roughly bounced between the alley walls, a grunt of pain or a bone crack leapt from the figure with each collision. The dark figure bounced off the large dumpster and finally landed on the surrounding trash bags, for a hopefully softer landing. (Y/N) watched all of this occur with a shocked and appalled face.

She stood there frozen. Does she just continue her walk home and ignore whatever the fuck just happened there? Or does she decide to be brave once again and investigate? These were the two versions of her fighting within her. Unbeknownst to her, there was a third version of her that she didn’t know about that controlled her movement. This magical third version of her, had her walking up to the where the shadowy figure landed. The crunch of the gravel below every foot step, sounded so loud in her ears. The usual hum of busy Gotham was almost gone, almost. Thankfully, one of the few working street lights was bright enough to illuminate the alley that (Y/N) and the figure were in. (Y/N)’s feet finally brought her to the figure in question.

“Oh you got to be fucking kidding me” (Y/N) gasped out in an almost angry whisper. Of course, on her 2nd trip to Gotham (Y/N) met Batman in the worst of circumstances. Well to be fair, any circumstance that involves Batman is usually not a great one anyway. Another harsh breath, left (Y/N) as she peered down at the dark knight. He was in awful shape, there were tears and rips all over his suit, which revealed bruised or bleeding skin. The bottom part of his face showed a lot of damage. His bottom lip was split, his cheek was swollen, and from what (Y/N) could tell his nose might be broken. About every inch of him, seemed to be severely injured. It was a miracle that he was even breathing. Wait, was he breathing? (Y/N) set down her groceries and rested her knees on the trash below her. She leaned forward, with her arm outstretched. Her fingers were aiming for his neck, in order to find a pulse. The tips of her finger were about to touch the neck of the famous cowl.

“AH!” (Y/N) yelped as a hand suddenly gripped her wrist. Well guess, that answers the questions whether he was breathing or not. Batman had grabbed her wrist to stop her from getting any closer. His grip was firm but not crushing. (Y/N) made eye contact with the dark knight, her mouth almost going dry. His stare was really piercing, his mask usually obscured his eyes but due to the damage she could see one eye fairly clearly. Who knew, Batman had these piercing blue eyes? Probably not a lot of people.

“Batman, I-” (Y/N) tried to conjure some sort of comprehensible sentence, but well he was a very intimidating figure even while at his weakest. Batman tried to sit up, while still holding on to (Y/N)’s arm but the movement caused him to double over in pain. Seeing Batman in this immense pain, was sobering and absolutely terrifying. It felt like seeing something extremely illegal or forbidden. Batman let go of her wrist to hold his side, and wince in pain. The sight really scared (Y/N) but she couldn’t exactly leave Gotham City’s greatest protector in the trash like this.

“Look Batman, I want to help. Please let me help you” (Y/N) grasped her hands together and tried to maintain eye contact with Batman. Although she was making eye contact with him, it was really hard to read his emotions. (Y/N) could not tell what his expression was at all. The dark knight’s lips started to purse as if he was about to speak.

“Oi! Where’d he go?” A voice echoed from somewhere on the rooftops. It sounded fairly far away.

“How’d da hell am I supposed ta know dumbass?” Another voice echoed, it sounded about the same distance.

“Well, if we don’t find him da boss gonna be upset. And ya know what happens when da boss is upset”

“Ya I know, so shut up and find him asshole!”

The two voices came to a stop but it did sound as if they were slowly coming towards Batman and (Y/N). Batman began trying to stand up, which he was successful at, it just seemed every movement was extremely painful. He was shaking with every action. (Y/N) swiftly stood up and placed herself under Batman’s arm. She could feel him go stiff and rigid. Maybe this was a bad idea? A thousand thoughts swirled through (Y/N)’s brain. Until she could feel him relax a little on top of her. It made (Y/N) smile a little bit as she situated herself under his armpit and adjusted his arm so it would hang over her shoulders. He was able to place some of his weight on to (Y/N). And man was he heavy! (Y/N) tried not to let it show, but Batman was some serious weight to carry around.

“Follow me, Batman. I have somewhere safe” (Y/N) grunted as they took their first step together. He didn’t respond but he also didn’t pull away, so (Y/N) took that as a sign that she had his approval.

“Maybe we should get down on the street and look?” One of the voices appeared again and MUCH closer this time. (Y/N) gasped, crap this can’t be good. She was going to initially lead him to the apartment but she might have to change plans. Batman reached down into his tool belt and whipped out a batarang. He threw it at the street light that was illuminating the both of them and the majority of this part of the street. Smart, (Y/N) thought to herself.

“Come on this way” (Y/N) whispered to him. She was probably talking more to ease her nerves, than to communicate with the man. (Y/N) led them to the car that she just painstakingly parked.

“Hold on. I need to find my keys” (Y/N) whispered to Batman again. She placed him against her friend's car. The movement caused a grunt from Batman. Batman leaned his head back against the top of the car, as his chest rose and fell rapidly. (Y/N)’s fingers seemed to hate at this very moment because she could just not find her fucking keys. She could hear the voices of the goons getting closer and it was causing her to panic even more. (Y/N) almost cried when she felt her fingers brush the keys in her pocket but crying in front of Batman would be kinda lame so she held it in. She unlocked the back seat and opened the door for Batman. (Y/N) grabbed his arm once more and helped him into the floor of the backseat. Thankfully, her friend kept a large dark blanket in the back of his car. (Y/N) yanked the blanket and threw it over Batman once he settled on the floor of the car. She made sure all of him was in the car before closing the door and running around to the driver’s seat.

The voices of the goons were clearer than ever and it made the hairs on the back of her neck prickle in fear. She hopped behind the wheel and pulled off. (Y/N) didn’t want to burn rubber, cause she felt like that would bring attention to the car and that’s the last thing she wanted. (Y/N) glanced up to her rear view mirror to see two of the goons in the reflection. They were big and mean looking. She couldn’t tell if they were the ones who did this damage to Batman but at this point it didn’t matter. (Y/N) gave a sigh of relief, as she turned the corner and the two were out of sight. She gave a quick glance over her shoulder, Batman was still on the floor of the car.

“I’m staying at a friend’s apartment, here in Gotham. It’s not too far from here. We’ll be safe there” (Y/N) spoke out loud, but she wasn’t sure that she was heard. She did another circle before finally making her way back to her friend’s block.

“Thank God!” (Y/N) whispered to herself. There was a spot open in front of her friend’s apartment. She swiftly took the parking space and did a quick look around them. No sign of the goons. (Y/N) hastily got out of the car and went to the opposite side of the backseat to retrieve Batman once again. She was half-expecting to lift the blanket and for him to be gone mysteriously. She was wrong, because he was still there with his piercing steely blue eye staring back at her. (Y/N) offered her hand to the man. He took it and the weight of it almost threw (Y/N) forward. Thankfully, she had braced herself against the outside of the car. Although he was wearing thick gloves she could feel the warmth of his large hand enveloping her. (Y/N) placed her foot on the car to help maneuver the man out of the car. It took some strength but she was able to get him out of the car. Once the dark knight emerged from the car, she swiftly took her place under his large frame again. She kicked the door closed and locked the doors via the keyfob.

The journey to the apartment was surely interesting. Her friend lived on the 5th floor, and the elevator was broken. (Y/N) must have pissed off some god in a previous lifetime. Well on the bright side, despite the sweat and blood that Batman oozed on to her during this trek to the apartment, he smelled real nice. He smelt like he had a really expensive cologne on. So, (Y/N) learned a lot of things about Batman today. He has blue eyes, smells good, and is not much of a conversationalist. It was a long trek to the apartment, so it was hard for (Y/N) not to notice more about the elusive dark knight. He had some stubble on his face. It made her imagine Batman with a beard, which almost made her giggle. He had really plump pink lips that he seemed to force into a straight line. He was really huge, like just in general. Although, (Y/N) is pretty sure that he’s shorter than both Superman and Wonder Woman. To be fair, in either encounter she was not as closely acquainted as she is currently with Batman, so she couldn’t be sure.

(Y/N) had to snap herself back to reality, while desperately hoping that he didn’t notice how much she was staring at him. He did in fact notice how much she was staring at him.

“Well here, we are” (Y/N) gave a half-hearted smile towards Batman when they stopped in front of her friend’s apartment door. He didn’t seem too amused, but again he didn’t seem too much of anything. Well that’s not totally true, the only thing she can clearly read about him is pain. (Y/N) once again fiddled with her keys. This time she found them a lot quicker. She opened the door and helped shuffled Batman to the couch. Once he hit the couch, (Y/N) ran back to the front door. She turned her head side to side to see if any of the neighbors caught a glance of her sneaking Gotham’s City most eligible bachelor into the apartment. Thankfully, the hallway was still and quiet. Batman was sitting up, against the couch with his head resting backwards. (Y/N) jumped into action, the first thing she did was run to her friend’s bathroom to find some painkillers. Then she darted to the kitchen to get him a glass of water.

“Oh my god. What is my life?” (Y/N) stood in the kitchen and whispered to herself in shock. The whole situation finally hit her. Looking at the back of Batman’s head while pouring water was a surreal experience. She took a deep breath and speed walked to the couch. She stood in front of Batman with water and painkillers in her hands.

“Okay, so I got you a glass of water and some painkillers because you seem like you really need them.” (Y/N) presented the items to him. He was staring at her again and she still couldn’t tell what he was thinking. The dark knight was just staring, saying nothing. She was about to step back and place the items elsewhere but suddenly warm hands grasped hers. He had taken his gloves off and was holding her hands.

“Thank you” His deep voice echoed in (Y/N)’s ear drums. (Y/N)’s sure she looked like a fish out of water. She just wasn’t expecting him to speak, let alone be polite. (Y/N) cleared her throat and let go of the items as Batman took them.

“No problem. It’s the least I could do. I’m going to get you some pillows and blankets. Feel free to stay as long as you need” (Y/N) smiled and darted out of the room to look for some extra pillows and blankets. This is crazy, she really is playing hostess to Batman. The pillows and blankets were kind of an excuse to hide the warmth coming to her cheeks. God, how pathetic two words from Batman and she wants to squeal. Can a girl get any more pathetic? The answer is yes. (Y/N) took a deep breath to cool down and came back to the living room with the items as promised. When she came back, she noticed that the now empty cup and painkillers were now on the coffee table. (Y/N) silently placed the pillow on the other end of the couch and extended her hand to Batman. He silently took it, as she guided his head towards the pillow. This was certainly an interesting experience. Once he was fully laid down, (Y/N) laid the blanket on top of him. Can’t believe that she was tucking THE Batman into bed. She had to really restrain herself from giggling cause his legs were hanging off the edge of the couch due to his height. (Y/N) stepped back and clasped her hands together.

“Well, um I’ll be in that room if you need me. Goodnight Batman” (Y/N) nervously said before speed walking to her friend’s bedroom and hastily shut the door. “This is so fucking crazy” (Y/N) chuckled to herself, as she pulled her shirt over her head. Her friend’s cat Mr. Ham was already fast asleep on the bed, unaware and uncaring of tonight’s events. “Maybe, I’m hallucinating” (Y/N) whispered to herself.

“Superman, Wonder Woman, and now Batman? Yeah I bet, I’m going to meet Captain Boomerang next” (Y/N) jokingly rolled her eyes to herself, as she spoke to Mr. Ham. He had no response. “You know, you’d get along with the that guy out there” (Y/N) pointed towards the bedroom door as if Mr. Ham was actually a part of the conversation.

(Y/N)’s bones felt heavy and every extra movement felt like moving through molasses. A yawn was climbing out of her mouth a little too often as she climbed into bed. She laid on her side as she pet Mr.Ham lazily. His soft fur danced in her gentle fingers. (Y/N)’s brain started to power down, her thoughts finally quieting down after running at 345 mph. The last cohesive thought she possessed before falling asleep, was the scent of Batman’s cologne. The thought of it left a smile on her face, as she slept.

“My groceries!” (Y/N) shot up from her sleep. She had totally forgotten her groceries in the whole saving Batman debacle. (Y/N) squinted and shied away from the bright light shining directly in her face. Bright light? “Fuck, what time is it?” (Y/N) shot up out of the bed. The sheets and blankets tangled around her legs, causing her to stumble to her feet. A particular stubborn sheet was vehemently fighting to hang on to her ankle, as she tried to maneuver out of the bed. Eventually, the vicious bedding monster let her go and she was able to rush out of the bedroom. She wanted to see Batman before he left. Honestly, she needed to know he was still alive, he looked extremely rough last night. Look, she can explain or lie about a lot of things to stay out of trouble. But trying to explain a dead Batman in your friend’s apartment? Yeah good luck with that.

“Batman I-” (Y/N) rushed over to face the front of the couch, just to see nothing.

“Oh.. don’t know what I was expecting” (Y/N) wistfully whispered to herself. What else should she expect? Batman in the kitchen wearing a pink apron, making breakfast as thanks? Well at least that answers the questions whether he is alive or not. A smile climbed to her lips, Batman was alive. She should have never doubted him. Surely he’s been through worse. Her smile grew bigger as she saw how he left the couch. The blankets and pillows that he used last night were neatly folded and placed on the couch. Who knew Batman was so polite? Surely not (Y/N). The rest of the apartment was undisturbed, as if one of earth’s greatest protectors was never here.

(Y/N) carried on with the rest of her morning routine. She still had to go back to the grocery store. Just as she was putting on her shoes to leave, someone knocked on the front door. (Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, then they raised in anxiety. What if one of her friend’s neighbors saw what she was doing last night? What if one of those thugs saw them come to this apartment and was coming to find Batman? Her mouth decided to cosplay the Saharra desert, and lose every ounce of moisture. Her fingers started to shake and tremble. (Y/N) took a big deep breath in, no use in panicking for nothing. Maybe her friend just had a package coming in the mail that she didn’t know about. The logical side of her brain took more control, and it put her more at ease. She took another large deep inhale and exhaled before harshly ripped open the front door.

Go figure, there was no one even there. (Y/N) looked up and down the hallway, again no one. She almost closed the door, until she noticed some bags in front of the door.

“Oh my god” (Y/N) gasped, it was new groceries from Gerewon, an extremely bougie and expensive grocery store in Gotham. She quickly brought the items inside and hastily looked through the bags. Every item was a more bougie replacement of what she bought last night. There were even more items that she could never think of buying herself. Like lobster, crab, and a $40 chocolate bar. Tears welled up in her eyes, just begging to spill over her eyelids.

People complain a lot about Gotham, which is understandable. The parking sucks, crime is awful, and corruption runs rampant. But Batman? He’s one of the only great aspects of Gotham. And oddly great at grocery shopping.

Notes:

Okay sorry for the long wait! This semester got crazy stressful! I am a college student, so please be patient with me! `(*>﹏<*)′ Anyway, I really enjoyed writing this one, but I had such a hard time ending it! I hope it's alright. I gotta figure out the rest of this 5+1 format. 2 more clutch saves from (Y/N) and then the Justice League finally repays the favor. I can't give a guarantee on when the next chapter will be out but I'll try and do at least one more before I go back to school. Also, I'm thinking of starting a fic of another fandom because it's been on my mind lately. I'm thinking of a Quicksilver, Reader, Human Torch, love triangle scenario. And yes this would be the Age of Ultron Quicksilver and Chris Evans early 2000 Human Torch. Let me know if you guys would be interested in that! I think I would have to put more effort in world building that world than this one, so it would be a nice challenge. I WILL be ignoring some of the last few years of the MCU, because it's my fic and I can do what I want. (ง •_•)ง I also felt like I wrote more this fic, but I think it's shorter than the others. Anyway, I've yapped enough. I hope you guys enjoyed the fic, and let me know how I did! Have a great day! ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

Chapter 4: Sandstorm

Chapter Text

“Are you sure you can’t make it?” (Y/N) pouted as she squished her phone to her cheek. The sweat from her cheek was leaving a slight grease stain as she listened to her friend.

“I’m sorry, I just can’t. You know that boss is a great big asshole. A big client came and he wants everybody on the project” (Y/N)’s friend Jean huffed into her phone. She was currently hiding in the bathroom from the previously mentioned boss. “But hey, enjoy the exhibit for me.” Jean smiled as she tapped her nails against the restroom counter.

“Yeah, I will just not as much since you’re not here. I just hope you’ll get a chance to see it before it leaves the museum.” (Y/N) sighed as she leaned against the red brick wall of the museum. She was outside of the entrance of the Grand Central City Museum. People filed in and out of the large entrance doors.

“I’m sure, I'll see- oops looks like I gotta go. I just got a message from Sean that my boss wants to see my work! Love you, have fun!” Jean’s rushed words flew out of her mouth and landed on (Y/N)’s earbuds before she could fully comprehend what she was saying.

(Y/N) sighed to herself, as she stared at her phone as it the screen turned black. In all honesty, (Y/N) didn’t even want to see the exhibit in the first place. She had bought admission tickets for Jean as a birthday gift. The exhibition was about rock, minerals, and sand. There were sand sculptures, 1 billion year old rock deposits, and some fascinating finds around minerals. Well as fascinating as minerals could get. (Y/N) didn’t exactly hate the idea of coming to an exhibition like this, it’s just a topic she usually wouldn’t pick herself. Hence why it was a gift to her friend. Jean was really into geological stuff like rocks, minerals, and sand. (Y/N) was being a little dramatic, when she was buying the tickets she did see some sculptures she wanted a closer look at or to learn more about, so it’s not like it's the end of the world.

Something just felt off….

Since this morning, she felt a deep anxiety about coming to this exhibition. Anxiety around some rocks? Surely, it was nothing. Maybe the incident with Superman affected her more than she thought. The glowing rocks pinning him down, did worry her but having anxiety around regular rocks was a little much. (Y/N) was 99% sure that there were no glowing rocks in this exhibition. Anxiety was not a new concept for (Y/N) she has dealt with it for most of her life but for the most part she has had it under control. (Y/N) was also at a point in her life where she could confidently pinpoint what was irking her. Something in her was telling her that going to this exhibition was a bad idea for some reason.

“Oh my god you’re being ridiculous” (Y/N) whispered to herself in a harsh tone. This probably wasn’t the best way to deal with anxiety but sometimes you have to tell yourself to shut up. At least that was (Y/N)’s line of thinking. Although, if she truly thought about it, the 3 life endangering scenarios that she’s been in the last few months and haven’t told anyone else about has probably had an effect on her mental health. Maybe she should tell one of her friends about it. Like what or who is she protecting from withholding this information? Is it benefiting her to keep a hold of this information? As many loopholes or excuses (Y/N) gave herself, for some reason she felt protective of the three heroes she saved. They never asked or even hinted that she should keep information to herself but it just felt wrong to talk about it. It felt wrong to say “I saved Superman” or to gush about how big Wonder Woman’s muscles were. She didn’t want any praise, maybe just to tell another regular person how crazy these experiences were.

*Bzz Bzz*

A text message from Jean interrupted (Y/N)’s internal spiral.

[Don’t forget to get me a souvenir 😘😜]

(Y/N) rolled her eyes while smiling and gave Jean’s message a thumbs down. She playfully scoffed as she put her phone in her pocket. Now she definitely has to brave the very big, bad, no good museum.

(Y/N) was not expecting to enjoy the exhibition that much, but the magic of a museum swept over her. The low whispers of the other patrons and soft ambient music that played over the speakers helped soothe her anxieties. There was an exhibit where you could touch various minerals and rocks. The jagged edges of the blue and grey speckled rock in her hands grounded her. She quickly left that exhibit because a ton of kids were running over to touch the rocks and she didn’t want to be the weird adult hogging it. She continued to float around the exhibition until she reached the sand sculpture part.

There were beautiful sand sculptures that were in climate controlled glass containers. Some were from Egypt, India, and Indonesia. There were even a few that were donated by an artist who specialized in sand sculptures. She was currently standing in front of one from Egypt. Although much of the detail was worn away, the main features were still there. It was named “Lovers in the Sand”. There were two figures locked in an embrace. Their arms looked tightly wrapped around each other. They seemed to be laying down and the larger figure covered the smaller figure in a protective manner.

“Beautiful isn’t it?” A flirty chipper voice appeared next to (Y/N).

(Y/N) peeled her eyes away from the admittedly beautiful piece of artwork to look up at the voice that just spoke to her. It was a tall man with ginger hair and a grin that definitely meant trouble. He was blinking his long ginger eyelashes in anticipation. She was really caught off guard, every wire in her brain decided to cross at that very moment.

“Um yeah, it is” (Y/N) she plainly blinked at the man. His smile oddly grew bigger.

“It’s hard to believe that something this old and fragile could survive long enough for us to look at it.” The ginger man said almost wistfully, while looking at the sculpture. There was suddenly a sadness in his eyes. His eyes were squinted and his hand was on his chin. (Y/N) got the impression that this man wasn’t usually this outwardly stoic. She couldn’t help but relax a little around him.

“True. However, I’ve found that the things that appear the most fragile can be way stronger than they appear.” (Y/N) offered a smile to the stranger. The ginger stranger’s smile returned as if he never displayed a somber disposition.

“Yeah you’re right-”

“Wait did you see that?” Interjected the friendly stranger in a harsh whisper. She swears she saw something move in the sand sculpture. Like a ripple in it, as if something was moving beneath the surface of the embraced couple.

“See what?” The red head stranger’s eyebrows pulled together as he stepped closer to (Y/N) and the sculpture.

“I swear I saw something move in the sculpture” (Y/n) whispered to the stranger as she pointed at the sculpture.

“I don’t see it” He stepped even closer, to get a better look at exactly (Y/n) was pointing at.

“Wait right there! It just-” (Y/n) was suddenly interrupted as the loving sand couple exploded inside the glass cage. (Y/n) starred with her mouth agape and her arm still outstretched. The sand inside was suddenly slowly pulsing and wiggling around oddly. The pulsing grew faster and more aggressive. (Y/n) quickly glanced around the room, the other sand sculptures looked like they were also rippling and pulsing. Although the rest haven’t exploded yet. She didn’t have much time to even fathom an explanation for all of this. As the former lover's sculpture exploded outside of the glass enclosure. The stranger grabbed her body and tackled her to the ground. Maybe because of her adrenaline but it felt like he moved in a blink of the eye. The sand bursted out of the glass, which sent glass shards everywhere. The ginger haired stranger covered (Y/N)’s body with his. He especially shielded her head, with his arms and hands. The glass shards bounced off the back of the stranger who was thankfully wearing a leather jacket over a hoodie, which protected most of his back from the jagged shards. The rain of glass continued, as the other sand exhibits bursted out of their enclosures.

(Y/N)’s heart beat at a 3 million light years per second. If this rain of knives wasn’t happening, (Y/n) was sure that the man protecting her would feel her rapid heart beat.

The rain of glass started to slow down, so (Y/N) ventured a glance outside of her human shield.

“Oh my god” She gasped. The gasp caused the man above her to whip his head to the side to see what she saw. Sand from each exhibit was moving through the air to a joint ball of sand in the middle of the room. Strings of sand were pulsating towards this growing center of sand. It was odd, it was as if the sand was being called to whatever was floating above them.

Some people in the museum started screaming and running towards the exits. Which caused a lot of people to follow suit. A stampede quickly formed, (Y/n) and the stranger were still tightly holding each other as feet carelessly ran past them. Her eyes were shut closed as she tucked her head further into the ginger’s shoulder. (Y/N) was mostly protected from the barrage of kicks and stomps but she could feel the man above her taking the brunt of the damage. (Y/n) definitely had to buy this man dinner after this, well if they make it out alive. The stampede slowed down as more people left the area. (Y/n)’s heart suddenly dropped as a sinister laugh reached her ears. Her eyes shot open to dare a look at the pulsating ball of sand above them.

The sand was slowly forming into a humanoid form. It was forming into the shape of a man with long jagged claws. This sand-man was cackling as the sand forming him continued to define a more solid figure.

“What the fuck?” (Y/n) accidently whispered into the stranger’s ear. Which he then nodded his head in agreement.

Once again (Y/n)’s body was suddenly changed in position by the ginger haired stranger. It felt like she was instantly pulled to her feet by the stranger. (Y/n) guessed it felt so fast due to every crazy thing that was happening at the moment. She barely had time to blink to register that she was upright.

“I’m going to help people get out. You should get out of here too” The red headed stranger said to her before he ran off. An old man looked like he was knocked to the ground during the stampede. The stranger ran over to help the old man up. It took a little bit for (Y/N) to register what he just said but once she understood she began to do what he said.

(Y/N) turned around towards the main entrance. She began running but she didn’t even make it out of the room before seeing someone else passed out on the ground. It was a teenage girl and a little bit of blood was coming from a cut on her head. When did (Y/n) grow this weird savior complex? If she “saves” one more person, she’s going to need to make her own suit.

(Y/n) crouched down next to the girl and cupped her face which caused the girl to groan. Great, she was alive! (Y/N) quickly scooped her head under the girl’s arm and pulled the girl up. This was similar to how she carried Batman but a little harder because she was unconscious and couldn’t help carry her weight. (Y/N) was almost out of the room until she remembered her fire haired savior. She risked a glance back to see that he wasn’t there anymore. Hopefully, that means he made it out with the old man. (Y/n) picked up her pace and hobbled the young girl outside of the museum. There was a crowd of people outside of the museum.

“STACEY!” An older woman called out from the crowd. The older woman bumped shoulders with a few people to reach the two women. “Thank you for saving my daughter” The older woman said with tears as she grabbed her daughter from (Y/N). Not being able to speak, (Y/n) nodded her head to the mother. Although the mother was already focused on her injured daughter and seemed to quickly forget about the other woman in front of her.

(Y/n) searched the crowd in front of her. Her eyes danced over every head in the crowd but she couldn’t find her fiery head savior. (Y/n)’s eyes widened as she spotted the old man that he helped. She quickly sprinted to the old man who was sitting down on the large stairs that led to the museum.

“Excuse me sir. Do you know if the red head man that helped you made it out?” (Y/n) gently put her hand on the old man’s shoulder as she asked.

“Oh gosh, that kind young man said that he was going back to see if anyone needed help.” The old man coughed and pointed to the doors of the museum. (Y/n) sighed, of course he did.

“Thank you sir!” (Y/n) shouted as she sprinted back up the stairs. She bursted through the main doors and went back to the exhibition. Just as she made it back to the room where the sand explosion happened she felt a powerful ghost of wind pass her. The force of the wind made her hair and clothes furiously whip around her. The wind was so strong that she stumbled over but she was able to catch herself on the corner of the wall next to her. Her eyes were shut closed as the skin of her fingers blanched due to her grip on the wall. A sudden feeling of deja vu hit her at this moment.

“Aw man this is why I hate going to the beach. Sand is everywhere and when I mean everywhere I mean everywhere” A familiar voice said in a playful tone. (Y/n)’s eyebrows twitched in confusion as she opened her eyes.

It was The Flash! A huge smile climbed on (Y/n)’s face. The Flash was definitely talking to the sand-man. The sand-man was now on the ground, although he was fairly large. Larger than Gorilla Grodd but smaller than Soloman Grundy.

“It’s exactly why I love the beach” The gritty goon darkly giggled as he started throwing blasts of sand at Flash. Of course, the Flash dodged each one with ease.

“Really, this is it? I feel like villains are getting lazy these days” Flash quipped in a flippant tone before zooming directly before the sand-man. Flash then sent a flurry of punches through the Sand-man. Unfortunately it looked like the punches were doing nothing. During one of the punches, sand-man hardened his chest with Flash’s hand in it.

“Rocks beat scissors” The sand-man chuckled sinisterly. The grains of sand moved inwards, which started to crush Flash’s hand.

“AGH” Flash cried out in pain as he tried to free his fist from the quick sand trap. Before his hand could be squashed any further, Flash super vibrated his hand out of the sand. “Talk about quicksand” Flash quipped before creating some distance by zooming to the other side of the room.

“Hmm Quicksand? I like it” Quicksand snickered as he sent a long powerful blast of sand towards the hero. The Flash easily dodged to the side with minimal effort.

“Nana nana boo boo, you missed me! Bleh” Flash teased with his tongue out. (Y/n) couldn’t help but to roll her eyes a little. The sand that missed Flash grouped together and began to form a small wall. The wall grew to the height of his shoulder behind him.

“I didn’t miss,” Quicksand stated as the wall of sand behind Flash quickly enveloped the speedster. Flash was fully encased in the ball of sand. His hands, head, and feet were the only parts of his body exposed to the outside world.

(Y/n) gasped to herself. Was Flash going to make it out of this? Of course he was! He was THE Flash. The Flash that’s a Justice League member, of course he was going to be alright. (Y/n) was sure that he had some trick up his sleeve or maybe back up would come. (Y/n) was trying to reason with herself but the scene in front of her seemed to be crushing every positive thought she had.

“ARGK” Flash grunted, the sand was crushing him. She had to do something, even if he could get out of this himself, she should probably help. Her eyes darted around the room frantically. What could she even do in this scenario? Punch the sand? That didn’t even work for Flash. (Y/n)’s hand cupped her mouth. Was she going to see the Flash die here and right now? Before she could further spiral, she spotted something small and red across the room. Surprisingly it wasn’t Flash, it was a fire alarm. It was past Flash, on the exact opposite wall of her. If she had to guess maybe, around 40 ft from her. Maybe the water sprinklers would slow down the sand. She would have to run for it and expose herself to the grainy villain to get to it. Well, she has fought a robot militia before. So this scenario isn’t that bad right? Right. (Y/n) let go of the wall to better position herself. She took a deep breath and kept her eyes on the fire alarm.

The world once again seemed to slow as she inhaled. Grains of sand fell from the ceiling. The muscles of Flash’s arm could be seen straining through his costume. The sand holding together Quicksand swirled continuously with grains entering and exiting his body. (Y/n) dug her feet into the ground and on her last exhale she took off.

“Hmm what’s this?” Quicksand raised an eyebrow towards sprinting (Y/n). His hand then raised as small pools of sand were trying swarming towards her. The small clumps of sand were darting towards her feet. (Y/n) skidded in her tracks to successfully dodge around one of these clumps. She stumbled towards the direction of the fire alarm. Part of the sand had attached to the point of foot which caused her to fall forward. She could see even more small clumps of sand quickly swimming towards her. (Y/n) pushed herself off the ground and began running again. The sand that was attached to her foot fell off with each step.

“Ugh what are you doing, get out of here!” Flash grunted as he strained his neck to look at the woman trying to save him. (Y/n) couldn’t waste any breath responding to him, she had to conserve all of her energy to reach her goal. She ducked as a clump of sand flew towards her head. (Y/n) was almost there, a few speeding clumps were flying in her direction. She took one large leap and was able to reach the wall. (Y/n) quickly pulled the fire alarm, causing water to start falling from the ceiling and the alarm to start blaring. The water started to soak the sand. The ball of sand that held the speedster started to grow dark and soggy. Of course, the artificial rainfall began soaking (Y/n)’s hair and clothes.

“What the?” Quicksand questioned as his form started to wetly clump together. The grains of sand forming him started to slump downwards. This pause in Quicksand’s assault gave the Flash ample room to burst out of the sand trap. He gracefully landed on his feet.

“Ugh now it really is everywhere” Flash said in disgust as he super shaked some of the sand off of him. He then appeared behind Quicksand. He began rotating his arms, with addition to his super speed his rotating arms became drills. Flash then plunged his arms into Quicksand which caused the sand forming him to fly across the room. A ton of sand started to splat on the walls, ceilings, and floor of the museum. A glob of sand even landed on (Y/n). “Eww I think I got some of it in my mouth” Flash waved his now regular hands around as he spit out some of the sand. (Y/n) sighed in relief, now she could focus on finding that guy that helped her.

“You think a little bit of water can stop me?” Quicksand’s voice seemed to vibrate from the walls. His low grainy voice echoed throughout the room. Between (Y/n) and Flash a dark mass of sand was forming. More sand slithered to the dark mass. Each grain of sand made the form bigger. As the form grew, Quicksand's muffled chuckle grew louder. His form morphed into a large rounded figure with a huge hollowed mouth and outstretched arms that held claw like hands.

“Oh you gotta be kidding me” (Y/n) whispered to herself. Quicksand turned around to face Flash. As soon as he spotted the red dawned hero, Quicksand sent two heavy solid punches towards him. Flash swiftly avoided these two punches. Quicksand’s fist hit the ground with an extremely loud thump. The force of the punches cracked the floor a little bit and caused a mini quake. This quake caused (Y/n) to lose her balance a little bit, instinctively she grabbed a table that was close to her. Quicksand continued to send a flurry of punches toward Flash. While Flash was focused on dodging the fistfuls of sand, there were long tendrils of sand forming behind him.

“FLASH! LOOK OUT!” (Y/n) shouted at the speedster. Due to her warning, he was able to narrowly side-step out of the way of the first few attacking sandy tendrils. He even sent a few super speed punches to the ones he couldn’t immediately dodge out of the way. However, as he was focused on dodging and countering the tendrils swarming him. The large Quicksand sent a sweeping hand towards Flash. It was too late Flash was slapped across the room, which caused him to fly past (Y/n) and land in the wall behind her. He landed pretty high up and unfortunately he didn’t stick to that spot. His body slowly tipped over and fell to the ground. The splash the impact of his fall made, morbidly reminded (Y/n) of a badly skipped rock falling to the bottom of a pond. Well if he wasn’t knocked out from the impact, he probably was unconscious now.

“FLASH!” (Y/n) called out as she ran towards the man. Each step she made created a splash. Flash had fallen face down. When (Y/n) arrived by his side, she roughly got to her knees. The force of her own landing creates a little wave of water. She gingerly grabbed his shoulders and gently flipped him over. (Y/n) maneuvered his upper torso to rest against her shoulder. “Come on Flash” (Y/n) patted his face as she whispered in his ear.

“Hmph thought the great Flash would be harder to kill.” Quicksand’s grumbly voice scoffed. “Pathetic” If he had eyes to roll, he probably would have rolled them right there.

“Come on Flash. If you die here in my arms, I’ll kill you myself” (Y/n) harshly whispered in the hero’s ear. She had to think of something to help him defeat this guy. Come on what’s harmful to sand? Water didn’t work. The only other thing she could think of is maybe heating him up. Glass is made out of heated sand and some other materials. Which she learned at this damned exhibition. How was she going to heat this huge guy up? Maybe that wasn’t it. “Ah fulgurite!” (Y/n) cheerily whispered to herself. She also learned at this exhibition that when lighting strikes sand it can create a glass-like tube. She even saw some examples of these earlier. Okay cool, she had two impossible options: heat the guy up or somehow harness the power of lighting. Great something totally doable.

“Hm what? Who’s drinking a foul Sprite?” Flash mumbled as his eyes slowly peeled open. (Y/n) tightly gripped his jaw in her hand, and turned his head towards her.

“Flash, listen to me. I have an idea” (Y/n) leaned her face closer to his.

“I’m all ears, pretty angel lady” At this point (Y/n) could not tell if he was joking again or he was seriously concussed.

“Flash. Glass is made up out of heated sand. Is there any way you can make him super hot? Or maybe create some electricity to turn him into glass?” (Y/n) whispered to him in a desperate tone. His lips were pushed upwards and his eyes squinted. “I don’t know exactly how your powers work. But maybe if you move or vibrate fast enough you can produce enough heat to disable him?” (Y/n) was almost pleading with him. However, this suggestion caused his eyes and mouth to form the shape of a balloon.

“You’re a genius!” Flash shouted before he disappeared out of (Y/n)’s arms. It was immensely disorienting for a person to be in your arms one second and gone in the next.

“Oh the world’s slowest man returns” Quicksand quipped as he geared to construct another sandy onslaught. The Flash was darting everywhere super fast, it was impossible for Quicksand to get a grasp of his location. Flash circled around the sandy menace, with each quick step he became faster. “What are you doing?” Quicksand growled, as he tried to send sand to where he thought Flash was. Of course, the attempt was futile. Flash was moving so fast that it looked like there were 5 Flashes surrounding the villain. The Flashes looked totally still, all in a running pose. However, the poses of the Flashes changed. It looked like they were rubbing their hands together.

After a few seconds, (Y/n) could see a spark forming in his hands. Then sparks of electricity began forming at his feet. Not even a second later the sparks grew exponentially.

“Sorry Mr. Sand-man looks like a lighting storm is rolling in” Flash remarked before channeling his electric energy to the villain.

“NOO!” Quicksand screamed, as his lower extremities started to rapidly transform into glass. “I’ll get you Flash! If it’s the last-” His last maniacal declaration was cut off, as he fully transformed into glass.

“Yeah yeah, [if it’s the last thing you do] I hear it all the time. Definitely doesn’t get old.” Flash flippantly waved off the criminal’s last words. His eyes trailed up and down the humongous glass form. (Y/n) must have caught his attention, because once he saw her, he was instantly right in front of her. “Thank you for helping me.” His smile was genuine as he offered his arms to help her up from her still kneeling position. (Y/n) readily accepted his help. “GL would have never let me live down, being beaten by a giant sand dollar” Flash rubbed the back of his neck. (Y/n) couldn’t help but smile. It was nice interacting with a less stoic hero after all of this.

“No problem, it was the least I could do. Oh! Did you see a red haired guy in here? He protected me and I just wanted to make sure he was okay” (Y/n)’s heart rate picked back up as she looked at Flash’s masked eyes.

“Oh yeah, I saw that really handsome guy and I made sure he got out of here.” (Y/n) raised an eyebrow, she couldn’t really place his tone or smile but she knew he was telling the truth.

“Great! Now what am I going to do for a souvenir?” (Y/n) slapped her hand to her forehead. She had totally forgotten to get Jean a souvenir from the gift shop. Doubt that it was open now. Although she couldn’t see his eyebrow, she could tell that he raised it under his mask. From (Y/n)’s perspective Flash didn’t move an inch but he must have. (Y/n) looked down and he was holding a piece of fulgurite. The fulgurite that was once a part of Quicksand. It was a piece that was around the size of a large carrot.

“Maybe this will work” Flash took (Y/n)’s hand and placed the fulgurite in it. “Thank you again!” Flash waved before he disappeared from (Y/n)’s view.

“Uh you’re welcome?” (Y/n) said to no one, as she peered down at the piece of glass now in her hand. It was a beautiful piece of natural work, it looked like lighting was encased in a resin. If she held it up, she could see the various colors speckled through it. Compared to her wet sand covered self, this piece of glass was stunning. Oh the ride home is going to be terrible. She’ll probably track sand everywhere. “Oh my god. How am I going to tell Jean about this?”

Notes:

I had a hard time thinking of a scenario for Flash. I was going to choose another member to work on but I had an eureka moment. I feel like I accidently wrote some Flash/Reader, which was not my intention but I guess Wally just has that charm. This is less SuperWonderBat than I intentioned but I have decided I'm going to write more about SuperWonderBat and this is the meet cute they have with the reader. So if you're looking for the real romance, don't worry it's coming. I'm just laying down some foundation.

Chapter Text

“Sam!”

“Dean!”

There’s nothing that can separate a girl and her favorite 40 minute early 2000’s tv show that she’s seen 300 times. Today was (Y/n)’s off day and she was going to celebrate it with much needed self-care. She definitely wasn’t trying to get her mind off of the several dangerous scenarios that she’s been in the past few months. No tonight was a simple normal self-care night.

(Y/n) was in her living room, slash bedroom, slash kitchen, slash workspace. It was a studio apartment so this one room had a lot of roles. The daybed that (Y/n) sat on held nail polish, nail files, popcorn, and candy. She was watching Supernatural on a projector while doing her nails. The glow from the projector was her only light she could use to paint her toes. Maybe painting her nails in the dark wasn’t the brightest idea but she didn’t seem to have too many of those. (Y/n) had on a moisturizing cartoon panda skincare face mask. The eucalyptus fragrance helped to offset the often overwhelming nail polish odor. She was painting her nails her favorite color and drinking her favorite soda. (Y/n) sighed to herself. She really needed a night like this. A girl can only be in so many high octane situations before going a little crazy.

As much as (Y/n) wants to forget about what’s happened, she just can’t stop thinking about them. It didn’t help that they were constantly on her social media feed. One part of her would be glad if she never saw a JL member ever again. The other part desperately wanted to see them again. A third part of her wanted to meet the rest of the members. Hopefully, in less intense scenarios. It was just all so overwhelming. Every time she saw a picture or video of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman she felt….. something. She couldn’t exactly pinpoint what that feeling was. A tiny part of her felt like she had a special attachment to them. Like nobody knew them like she did.

Ugh maybe she was becoming too self absorbed. Just because she met a few superheroes meant nothing. She couldn’t count how many second hand stories about the JL she's heard from friends and family. Like does she truly even want to see them again? Every time she does, her life is in imminent danger. (Y/n) took a deep breath.

Maybe she shouldn’t get herself too worked up. At least nothing too dangerous was happening tonight. Nothing too exciting was going on in her little studio apartment. The thought of staying forever in this apartment like a hermit to avoid danger, did cross (Y/n)’s mind several times. However, she doubts that Mr. Rogers would go for the whole work from home idea.

The rumble in her tummy shifted her thoughts elsewhere. One of the perks of living alone is that there is nobody around to judge her for ordering two medium pizzas for herself. (Y/n) wiggled her toes around the toe spreader as she scrolled down the menu options on the delivery app. She was going to get what she orders every time but hey maybe one day she’ll surprise herself and get something totally different. (Y/n) tapped “confirm order” and was greeted with confetti. Apparently her pizzas would be there in 45-50 minutes. She tossed her phone somewhere on her bed, to refocus on her toes. (Y/n) leaned forward to apply a clear coat on her big toe, while trying to simultaneously watch the show.

A muffled banging could be heard in the studio apartment. (Y/n) didn’t even register the sound because it was so low. The fight scene currently playing helped muffle the sound.

“Damn it, I gotta piss” (Y/n) whispered to herself in a British accent. She gingerly lifted her legs and carefully placed her newly polished feet on the floor. Her left leg buckled when she placed it on the ground. She didn’t realize that it had fallen asleep. (Y/n) quickly hobbled towards her bathroom to have a tinkle. She closed the bathroom door behind her. Yeah she lived alone and could have left it open. However, there was that one time that she was peeing with the door open and one of her friends barged into her apartment with no warning. Ever since then, she’s started to pee with the door closed. Although the lights were off, so she was peeing in the dark. She seemed to like doing a lot of things in the dark lately. (Y/n) could hear some scuffling and banging from the bathroom. She furrowed her eyebrows. She couldn’t remember whatever fight scene was happening now. Her shoulders shrugged while she dried her hands. Maybe she just forgot this episode. The show did go on for like 8,000 seasons.

The heels of her feet waddled a few steps out of her bathroom. Supernatural was a dark show, both in lighting and in theme. Half of the damn show happened at night. So the light from the show didn't help (Y/n) see much of her own apartment. A few large shadows danced around the apartment. She didn’t pay any mind to it as she waddled towards her bed. She leaned over and placed her palms on the bed. Popping could be heard as she arched her back and popped her spine over her bed. After she was done crackling, her hands fanned out in wide search patterns in pursuit of her phone.

Of course now she couldn’t find her damn phone. She wanted to check the app to see if there was an update on her pizzas. All of a sudden a chill ran down her spine. There felt like there was a hole burning in the back of her neck. It felt like the feeling of when you’re purposely trying to ignore someone and pretend that you don’t exist, and they don’t exist, that somehow nobody exists but it obviously isn’t working because everybody can see, and have eyeballs, and everyone in the scenario knows exactly what you are doing? Yeah totally wasn’t a run on sentence, that made total sense.

(Y/n) shook her shoulders and sighed. She was just working herself up over nothing. She was still facing her apartment wall. Ugh she felt like a little kid pretending that no monsters could get her as long as she never pulled back the blanket. (Y/n) opened her eyes as she whipped her body around.

Nothing, nothing was there. Just Sam and Dean screaming each other’s names. A short breath of air quickly left her nose. She really needed to stop watching horror movies. (Y/n) waddled towards her kitchen, she just needed some water. She quickly grabbed a glass cup and her Brita filter pitcher out of the refrigerator. The sight of the cool water made her throat dry in anticipation. She gulped down a whole cup and refilled the same cup before putting the water pitcher back in the fridge.

“Oh shit” (Y/n) whispered to herself as she turned around. She remembered that she was trying to find her phone. Her feet quickly shuffled towards the light switch on the wall and flicked it on.

The fresh glass of water slipped out of her hands and cracked on the floor. Water and glass flew everywhere on the hardwood floor. Her freshly painted toes chilled and flinched away from the water splashed on them. The hand that was holding the glass, was still cupped as if it was holding something. Her other hand was still hovering over the light switch. Her eyes were opened so wide and for so long, it was surprising that they didn’t dry out. Her mouth was in a perfect “O” shape. All of the air in the universe had a Congressional meeting to leave her lungs.

Two sets of eyes were staring back at her. Although, their faces were a lot less….. like hers. For some God knows what reason, both THE Wonder Wonder and THE Batman were standing in her little studio apartment. (Y/n)’s eyes darted between the two superheroes, her apartment, herself, back to the heroes, to her apartment, to herself, back to the heroes, to her apartment.

The air was still, she was still as if she was standing in an active minefield. She was hoping to God that none of them had any super hearing because she was sure they could hear her heartbeat. Maybe the loud sounds of Supernatural were covering her thumping heart.

“Hello?” (Y/n)’s weak uncertain voice whispered. It was so low, that they probably needed to have super hearing to have heard it. Air just seemed like it didn’t want to stay in her lungs at the moment.

“Hello, young maiden” Wonder Woman’s deep velvety voice spoke with a smile. Her beautiful lips curled around the words, in almost a teasing tone. Her crystal blue eyes, mirthfully gazed at (Y/n). Wonder Woman’s gaze was too powerful, (Y/n) had to quickly break eye contact. It felt like she had heat vision. (Y/n) was so enchanted, that she almost forgot about Batman. Her eyes darted towards him, once he made some sort of movement that (Y/n) was too slow to catch.

(Y/n) was momentarily broken out of her spell. Her eyes choppily looked over the two heroes. They were both badly disheveled, Batman’s arm was hung over Wonder Woman’s shoulders. The lifted arm revealed that half of his body armor was burnt, torn, or sliced. The other half of his body was covered by his cape, but (Y/n) could see his free arm crossing over his abdomen to hold his side. His legs were bent inwards, his whole body leaned on Wonder Woman. His cowl was damaged, the surface looked scraped up and the right side looked like it had taken some heat damage. Although, the majority of the face part still covered his identity adequately. His eyes and nose were still covered by the mask

Wonder Woman looked way less injured but it was obvious that she did sustain some damage. The strands of her inky black hair were frayed. There were several lacerations all over her body. A cut on the side of her nose clashed with her bright smile. A bruise was forming on her chest just above her….. um chestplate. The edges of her battle skirt were ripped and torn. The visible parts of her legs were covered in bruises, cuts, and dirt. Her boots were covered in some sort of dust or soot. Her knuckles were covered in blood and bruises. The usually shiny pieces of her armor, like her tiara and bracelets, were dull.

“Uh…” Was all that (Y/n)’s limp mouth could muster. She wanted to kick herself so bad, this is not how she wanted to appear in front of Wonder Woman and Batman. Appear. Appearance! She was still wearing the panda face mask, with messy hair, and wet toes in toe spreader. A humongous part of her wanted the whole building to suddenly cave in.

“We hate to disturb your chambers, but we seek asylum” The amazonian’s chocolatey tone soothed (Y/n).

“From what?” (Y/n)’s eyebrows raised.

“An enemy” Batman spoke quickly and direct. Of course it was vague as all hell.

“Please forgive my companion. He has seemed to have misplaced his manners” Wonder Woman was smiling but her eyes were giving a pointed stare towards Batman, who seemed unphased by the stare.

“Umm okay, yeah, sure!” (Y/n) threw out each word, like a pitcher throwing fastballs. (Y/n) placed her foot forward and leaned as if she was going to complete the step. She stopped and rubber banded back to her original position. Her hand fluttered over the light switch again. Her fingers flicked the switch up and down repeatedly.

“What are you doing?” Wonder Woman asked with confusion laced in her tone.

“Just trying to make sure I’m not hallucinating” (Y/n) stated matter factly. “Alright!” (Y/n) clapped her hands together. “What do you guys need?” Her chipper tone rang in the apartment, as her hands stayed clasped together.

“Your allowance of our presence is help enough” Wonder Woman spoke while she maneuvered Batman and herself to sit on (Y/n)’s bed. (Y/n) speedily followed behind the two and sat on the lazy boy lounge chair that was next to her bed. She didn't have much furniture due to the size of her apartment. Honestly, the apartment felt like a shoebox with these two huge figures in it. Her eyes stayed on them, looking over every feature. Batman must have felt her gaze because even through his covered eyes, she could feel his piercing stare reflect back at her. (Y/n)’s eyes darted over back to Supernatural playing. Embarrassment flooded every sense of her body. Her legs quickly scurried over to her laptop to pause the show.

“Um, are you sure you don’t need anything? Water? Food? A bandaid?” (Y/n) leaned forward with her hands behind her back. What does a girl even do in this scenario?

Batman’s masked eyes squinted at (Y/n). Okay he definitely was not in a good mood. She should definitely shut up now. (Y/n) quickly scuffled towards her kitchen once again. Her escape was immediately stopped when her foot felt wet. Oh that’s right, she should probably clean the water and glass up. Great! It’s a perfect excuse to get a break from the awkward atmosphere. (Y/n) set to work to clean the mess with serious focus. Maybe if she stayed crouched down cleaning this spot forever, this whole situation would go away. Fat chance, with her luck Killer Croc might smell the water and burst out of her kitchen sink.

As (Y/n) was crouched on the floor wiping the glass with a paper towel, her workspace suddenly grew dark.

“I must apologize for startling you, maiden. It was not my intention” Oh it was Wonder Woman’s shadow over (Y/n). The amazonian’s velvety voice warmed over (Y/n). Oh she could listen to her read quantum physics and hang on every word. (Y/n) was in a little bit of an awkward position, on her knees in glass with Wonder Woman standing behind her. Sounds like the setup of a really bad joke.

“Oh it’s fine. I can always just buy another glass” (Y/n) awkwardly chuckled as she slowly stood up. “I’m just glad that I could help” (Y/n) turned around so she could face Wonder Woman. H20 evaporated out of her oral cavity. Wonder Woman had to be 6’2 or 6’3, the woman was the height of a mountain. (Y/n) felt like an ant standing next to the amazon. Wonder Woman was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed. The position of her arms crossed made her biceps look huge. Her black hair beautifully framed her face and neck. Every inch of her looked like it was crafted in marble by a God.

“I appreciate your hospitality. We were….. In a precarious situation and needed to retreat from the battle” (Y/n) could tell that Wonder Woman chose her words very carefully. Whoever or whatever they were fighting had to be quite a formidable foe.

“Well, it’s really no problem. It’s always nice to help you guys for a change” (Y/n) smiled at the warrior, as she threw the glass in the trash can. “Although, I do wish I was a little bit more presentable” (Y/n) chuckled as she grabbed the bottom of her pajama top to demonstrate her state of dress. Wonder Woman lifted an eyebrow and gave a cheeky smile.

“You look presentable enough to me” A deep voice suddenly spoke. It was Batman, he was suddenly standing at the edge of the kitchen. Of course, (Y/n) never saw or heard his approach. (Y/n) didn’t physically react, but she was internally startled. It took a second for his comment to register in her brain. Once the sentence was fully loaded, heat rose to her cheeks and she picked at the bottom of her shirt.

“Um, also can I ask how you guys knew where I lived?” (Y/n) mumbled, she just needed the subject to change. Her stomach felt like an ant farm.

“I’m Batman” The dark knight plainly stated.

“Wow what a cop out” (Y/n) sarcastically stated with a dry tone while rolling her eyes. Wonder Woman had a bemused face that (Y/n) didn’t notice. Batman’s unreadable face stared back at (Y/n). (Y/n)’s eyes widened as she clasped her hands against her mouth. She just accidentally sassed Batman. “Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to-”DING DONG! (Y/n)’s apology tour was interrupted by her doorbell ringing.

The room instantly grew still. Wonder Woman immediately stiffened and moved from her relaxed position to a more alert stance. And Batman, well Batman still looked the same. The doorbell rang again. DING DONG!

“I’ll get it” (Y/n) whispered. The air was stiff, almost smothering. Every step towards the door was heavy and deliberate. (Y/n) placed her hand on the handle and turned her head around. Both Batman and Wonder Woman vanished. Well guess she was just going to get murdered alone today. (Y/n) took a deep breath and pulled the door open.

“(Y/n)? Sorry it took so long, I had a hard time finding parking” The delivery guy smiled as he started to hand a stunned (Y/n) two medium pizzas.

“I know it can be confusing. Thank you so much!” (Y/n) flashed a smile at the delivery driver as she balanced the pizzas on her hip. The driver gave a smile and already started his journey back to his car. He was already down the hallway as (Y/n) was closing the door with her foot.

“Were you expecting company?” Batman’s rumbling dry voice suddenly spoke behind (Y/N).

“Oh my fucking god. Jesus!” (Y/n) shouted as she grabbed her chest, the pizza boxes started to slip out of hands. Wonder Woman swiftly caught the boxes.

“Were you expecting company?” Batman repeated himself with the exact same tone and inflection.

“Hm what? No, I just like to eat” (Y/n) giggled as she grabbed the boxes back from Wonder Woman. Their fingers brushed together, for a hardened warrior Wonder Woman’s hands were softer than expected. Through Batman’s mask, (Y/n) could tell that he lifted an eyebrow. She wondered what that meant in bat language. “You guys want any?” (Y/n) lifted the pizza boxes up and shook it a little bit to emphasize her question.

“We have to leave. Maybe next time” Batman proclaimed with an almost smile to his tone. Wonder Wonder turned to the side and placed her hand to her ear.

“Understood” Wonder Woman’s stunning features twisted into a sorry expression. The amazon gently placed a firm hand on (Y/m)’s shoulder. “I must apologize sister (Y/m). We will have to share a feast, another time. We must depart.” Her crystal blue eyes shined with regret. (Y/n) had a hard time focusing, all she could hear was Wonder Woman saying her name over and over again.

“Another time?” (Y/m) furrowed her eyebrows and twisted her head upwards. Wonder Woman only replied with a mischievous smile.

“Wonder Woman” Batman called from the only window in the apartment. Huh, guess they weren’t going to use the door. Wonder Woman took her side by Batman, at the window sill.

“Thank you again for hosting us, sister (Y/m)” Was the last words Wonder Woman said before the two heroes slipped out of the apartment window.

(Y/n) was left standing there, holding two pizzas and dumbfounded. Was Wonder Woman guaranteeing that (Y/m) and them would meet again? Hopefully next time, (Y/m) wouldn’t be in her pajamas. Or better yet none of the Justice League members seriously hurt. Damn so much for being a hermit for the rest of her life. It’s not like one can just ignore the Justice League. (Y/n) sighed, she was really considering ignoring the Justice League. Although, she doubts that she would be too successful at it. At least this time she didn’t have to fight anybody. (Y/n) raised one of her hands raised to touch her forehead to rub in contemplation.

“Oh my god, I’m still wearing the stupid face mask. Oh. My. God. I WAS WEARING IT THE WHOLE TIME!?”

Notes:

I don't think it's my best work but I'm happy with it. People were asking for more Diana so I had to deliver. I'm not too sure how I'm going to finish the format but I'm excited to write it. I think if I was (Y/n) I would be way more annoyed than anything, sometimes Bruce be pissing me off but I can't help but love him. Hope you enjoyed!

Chapter Text

Sticky. Sticky is what Y/n felt right now and she hasn’t even eaten a copious amount of cotton candy yet. Every time she lifted her foot she could feel the gum that lodged itself in the grooves of her shoe. Her fingers absentmindedly rubbed the stitching woven on the handle of her purse. She could see beads of sweat roll down the necks of people walking past her. In a few minutes she’ll probably be just as sweaty as the suffocating crowd around her. She could feel a sweat bead threatening to roll down her temple.

🌸Y/n [Hey, Nota I’m by the cotton candy stand😋]

After an embarrassingly long amount of time, Y/n was on a first date. She finally took the plunge and downloaded a dating app. Although most of her friends gave express warnings that the current dating pool had extremely shallow waters. As much as she believed her friends, she felt as though she should still try. After the odd life and death experiences she’s had in the last few months, going on a first date didn’t seem so harrowing. If she could fight off a mini robot militia then surely she can handle a bad date. Maybe she was gaslighting herself again.

“Y/n?” A melodic voice questioned behind her. Y/n turned around to face the voice of her date. He was taller than Y/n, he wore a red shirt and tan pants. Nota was handsomer in person than any of his pics on his Magic profile.

“Yeah, Nota right?” Y/n smiled brightly at the man before her and accepted his outstretched hand. They quickly shook hands and Y/n desperately hoped that her hand wasn’t sweaty or gross. “Um, do you want some cotton candy?” God Y/n felt so awkward and so out of practice. Y/n was already exchanging money with the vendor before Nota could answer her question.

"I'm good, any attractions you wanna see first?” Nota really had a charming smile. There was something very mischievous about how the corner of lips curved up.

“No, I was just thinking we’d walk around until we find something interesting” Y/n tore off a piece of her blue cotton candy and popped it in her mouth.

“Sounds like a plan to me” Nota chuckled to himself.

The evening was nice. Y/n felt like there was some actual chemistry between them. Almost magical. He knew how to keep the conversation going without overpowering it. He didn’t go on any random tangents or self serving tirades. They walked around the carnival playing games, mostly losing them. They also giggled at the obvious knock off Hello Kitty plushies, they looked more like Goodbye Cat with how crooked and lopsided some of them were. Maybe Y/n was going to be one of those crazily lucky people who found their soulmate on the first date. Y/n definitely wasn’t feeling a soulmate connection but she was sure that she wanted to pursue this further.

“Let’s go on the ferris wheel” Nota pointed towards the huge ferris wheel that was in the near distance. Y/n internally giggled it was a little cliche to end the night at a fair with a ferris wheel ride. Although cliches are cliches for a reason. Y/n softly smiled and nodded her head. Y/n felt like she was in high school again with how giddy she felt. What no romantic attention will do to a deprived woman. It was a beautiful clear night out, even with the city light pollution the stars were gracefully shining.

“Ladies first” Nota held the ferris car wheel door for Y/n to enter. Y/n almost skipped into the amusement car. Her smile faltered when the car creaked under her weight. She’s just watched too many disaster movies, she needs to get out of her head. Y/n was snapped back into reality when the car door was slammed shut by the ride operator. Y/n mustered a weary smile to her ride companion.

“Scared of heights?” Nota asked his date as he placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

“Not necessarily. I’m definitely scared of this thing falling apart though” Y/n gave an awkward chuckle as she tightly gripped the side of the car door. The ferris wheel car was slowly rocking back and forth as it rose higher in the air.

“If I had known, I wouldn’t have-”

“No, it’s fine. I think it was just a bad idea to watch every single final destination movie last year” Gave another awkward giggle as she shyly looked away from her date.

Fingers were suddenly grasping Y/n’s chin. The fingers turned her head towards her fellow passenger. Nota tilted her head up, forcing Y/n to make eye contact with him. Nota was a beautiful man and Y/n somehow just noticed that he had gorgeous eyeballs. Gorgeous eyeballs that glowed? Gorgeous eyeballs that started to glow blue. Nota didn’t have blue eyes. Y/n gasped.

“You will calm down” Nota stated as if that would actually calm Y/n in this situation. And…. it did? She wanted to panic but right now she felt the calmest she has ever been in her life. Nota placed his other hand on Y/n’s knee as he leaned in. His lips were soft but his kiss was demanding and firm. This all felt off but Y/n couldn’t fight back, she didn’t fight back. She was calm.

“Thank you sweetheart. I’ve been wanting to do that since I saw you” Nota smiled almost devilishly.

“Too bad we’ll never see each other again” Nota flippantly shrugged his shoulders. Y/n knows that should run a chill down her back but it just doesn’t. The ferris wheel came to an almost abrupt stop. Their car had finally made it to the top.

“Oop this is our stop!” Nota clapped his hands and stood up. He placed his hand palm up and wiggled his fingers. Y/n felt the sudden urge to stand up and take his hand.

“Thank you darling, now stand here” Nota pointed to the seat they were just sitting on.

“Come on don’t be shy, a little closer to the edge” Nota patted the back of Y/n’s knees as she stepped closer to the car wall. Y/n’s toes bumped into the wall of the ferris car.

“Why am I doing this?” Y/n lazily looked down and back at the man holding her hand.

“Oh you’re my insurance” Nota stated plainly as he rolled his head side to side. He let go of Y/n’s hand as he started to stretch in the car. Every major movement of his caused the car to rock back and forth while creaking.

“Ah it’s such a beautiful night. I hope you don’t have to die” Nota cheerfully sighed. This really can’t be good. Maybe it is a good thing that Y/n isn’t able to panic. That would probably make her last few moments a lot worse. If Y/n could gasp she would. As she looked around the other people on the ferris wheel were also standing up in similar positions as her. Everyone was standing on the seat and respectively facing the outside of their car door. This was like a suicidal flash mob.

BEEP! BEEP!

BEEP! BEEP!

Red flashed from Nota’s pocket.

“Oh it’s about time” Nota sighed as he fished a loud red flashing device from his pocket. He pressed a few buttons on it and slid out a small device. He took the small device and flung it out in front of him. The device unfolded several propellers and began hovering in front of them. It looked like a mini green helicopter. A bright light suddenly appeared from the device like the spotlight from a police helicopter. It beamed directly into Y/n’s face which caused her to wince. Thankfully, the mini helicopter floated backwards and adjusted the light.

*Meanwhile at Acme Chemical in Gotham City*

“What’s your angle Luthor? Acme seems a little small fry for a guy like you” Batman’s voice had a calm demeaning tone as he dodged a flurry of attacks from Mercy Graves.

“You’re right Batman” Was all Luthor said as he continued to furiously type on the console that was above Batman. Wonder Woman had a hold of Rampage’s ankle and was currently spinning like a Beyblade. At max speed, Wonder Woman let go and Rampage flew through the wall.

Solomon Grundy held Superman tightly in both of his fists and started to squeeze the man of steel hard. Superman’s eyes glowed red as his heat vision burned Grundy’s hands. The pain made Grundy let go of Superman, which Superman followed up with an uppercut.

“Wonder Woman” Batman called out as he swept a leg under Graves. To people who didn’t know Batman, the statement sounded like he was plainly saying her name. To those who knew Batman, it was a statement that said a lot. It was him telling her to apprehend Luthor and quickly. That Batman and Superman could handle this, that she should go ahead and stop whatever Luthor was planning.

“On it!” Wonder Woman shouted as she flew upwards towards Lex Luthor. Luthor was on the very top level of the 15 story Acme building. Superman was fighting Grundy on the bottom level. Batman was fighting Mercy a few levels above them. Wonder Woman had thrown Rampage out of the building a level above Batman.

This section of the building they were fighting in was tall and circular, with catwalks criss crossing over each other. The Amazing Amazon weaved around every walk way as she flew up. Her skilled fingers quickly grasped her lasso of truth. The star spangled hero whirled her lasso around for a few moments before tossing it at Lex Luthor. The lasso speedily ensnared its prey. The magical ropes layered over the villain, rendering the villain’s arms useless at his sides. Wonder Woman landed on the floor and yanked Luthor towards her. She roughly spinned him around to face her.

“What are you planning foul fiend?” The very annoyed amazon barked in his face. She became even more annoyed when a smug smile climbed on to Luthor’s face.

“Something that does not concern the likes of you” Lex confidently stated as he raised an eyebrow. Wonder Woman simply responded by quickly raising a wrist towards his face, causing him to whimper and flinch.

“I am in no mood for games wizard” Wonder Woman’s perfectly shaped black eyebrows furrowed and her jaw clicked.

“I see but I would advise that you do not harm me” Luthor’s smug smile appeared again. He snapped his fingers and a bright light appeared behind him. Luthor had left one of his devices on the console behind him. It was some sort of hologram projector. A big static rectangular hologram formed. An actual picture began forming on the hologram. The static faded in and out, at first it was hard to tell what was going on the screen. Wonder Woman’s eyes widened and her lips parted.

“Batman, Superman. Up here. Now!” Her voice was deep, loud, and her words were short. Her teammates knew that when Wonder Woman spoke like this, it was extremely serious.

Sensing the urgency Superman clasped both of his hands together and raised them above his head while swiftly flying upwards. On the downswing, Superman aimed for Grundy’s head and delivered a devastating blow. For extra good measure, he quickly used his ice breath over Grundy to keep him down. Grundy would never stay down but this should buy them enough time to sort this situation out.

When Mercy threw another punch towards the Dark Knight, he used the moment to grab her arm and toss her over his shoulder. She landed against a console, the electronics shocked her and knocked her out. Batman then swiftly raised his arm. The Kryptonian swiftly flew up and grasped Batman’s arm. He flew them up there faster than Batman’s grapnel hook ever could. Once there Superman let go of Batman’s arm once they were safely over the ground.

“Luthor! Can you hear me?” A man asked on what seemed to be a ferris wheel.

“I can. We have the company of the do gooders” Luthor turned his head as best as he could to face the screen. Wonder Woman was gracious enough to whip him around to face the screen. “Oh good, how many people do you have?”

“Mmmm everyone that’s on this ferris wheel and the operator. So about…. 40? I could get more easily” The ferris wheel man’s tone was so flippant.

“Good I-”

“Cut to the chase Luthor. What are you playing at?” Superman stomped closer to his arch nemesis.

“I was just getting to that. You are always so impatient” Luthor smiled up at the fuming hero. “My dear friend Hypnota currently has these people hostage” On que, the camera zoomed out to show more than Hypnota. Wonder Woman and Superman’s eyes widened at seeing a familiar face. Of course, Batman would never admit it but he was also surprised.

“Let them go” Superman grabbed the front of Luthor’s armor and pointed his other hand at the screen.

“Superman. You know that I can’t do that. It’s not in my hands” Lex always has this smug condescending tone to his voice. “I promised Hypnota a lot of money. And when I mean a lot, well you know I’m not flippant with my words.” Luthor gave a dark chuckle. “I promised her this money only if I’m able to finish what I need to do. If I don’t…. Bodies will start to drop” His voice deviously dropped.

“And I’ll start with this cute one” Hypnota climbed on the ferris wheel seat behind Y/n. He stood behind Y/n and snaked an arm around her waist while leaning over her shoulder. Hypnota rested his chin on her shoulder and gave a dry kiss on the underside of her cheek. Y/n’s face was blank, emotionless. It was like she was in some sort of fog state. “I really don’t want to have to kill her” Hypnota gave a fake whine and pushed his lip out in a pout.

“What do you want Luthor?” Superman spat at the man below him.

“I simply want to just finish what I need to do here”

“And what is that?” Wonder Woman raised an eyebrow and squeezed Luthor’s shoulder. The pain caused him to wince.

“That’s information that you don’t need to know” Luthor grunted out.

“No deal Luthor” Superman stepped back and crossed his arms.

“You heard him Hypnota. Start dropping people!” Lex shouted at the screen. Hypnota gave a half hearted salute and his lips touched Y/n’s ear.

“Think of what you love and step off honey” Hypnota whispered in her ear before giving her butt a little pat.

Images of friends and family immediately flooded Y/n’s mind. Her favorite past pets, food, shows, games, everything that she ever loved suddenly came to the forefront. Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman quickly flashed before her eyes. She couldn’t exactly take the time to delve into whatever that meant. Her foot was hovering over the grand expanse of nothing. Directly below them was the ground, no water, no haystacks, nothing to magically brace her fall. Guess she should be grateful that she got captured by Hypnota and not some other villain, or else she would have to truly experience this horror. Y/n closed her eyes and fully stepped off. She had an internal chuckle, at least the ferris wheel didn’t fall apart in a spectacular Final Destination type of way. Y/n couldn’t tell you how long she was falling. It honestly felt like only a few seconds but she suddenly stopped. Maybe this is what death felt like. Instant.

“I got you” A deep authoritative voice echoed above her. Y/n opened her eyes and she was met with bright green energy all around her. It was almost hard to see outside of it. The owner of the voice floated into view. It was Green Lantern.

“I’d like to see you catch all of them” Hypnota huffed as his hands began to glow blue. Every person on the ferris wheel, eyes’ glowed as they stepped off of the attraction. Green Lantern created a large net to catch the rest of the hypnotized hostages.

“You’re going to have to do better than that” Green Lantern confidently smirked as he gently laid the net on the ground.

“Oh don’t worry I will” Hypnota chuckled as his eyes and hands glowed blue. He shot blue rays towards Green Lantern. Although, nothing seemed to take effect.

“You think your little Vegas routine is going to affect me?” The ring powered hero raised his eyebrow.

“Damn. Cheetah!” Hypnota shouted. Cheetah suddenly appeared. She quickly jumped and climbed to the top of the ferris wheel. As soon as she reached the top she launched herself at Green Lantern. She was so quick, he barely had time to register that she was coming for him. Thankfully, a familiar mace smashed her directly in the face. Cheetah’s limp body flew directly into the ground, sending a large dust cloud upwards.

“Thank you, Hawkgirl” The green hero sighed and gave his comrade a smile.

“Any time” Nodded at the ring bearing hero.

“Hawkgirl watch out!” Lantern shouted as soon as he saw Hypnota’s blue rays firing towards Hawkgirl’s direction. She swiftly flapped her wings to move her backwards.

“ARGH!” Hypnota suddenly doubled over in pain. He held his head in his hands. A large green non-human figure suddenly phased into existence behind him.

“It’s time to take your own medicine” The martian held on to the magician’s head until he passed out. Hawkgirl raised a hand to ear.

“We’re secure over here. Status?’ The feathered member’s eyes roamed over the whole crowd of the carnival. With her eyesight nothing could escape her. She was smaller than Y/n imagined, maybe it was the wings or helmet that made her look taller. From Hawkgirl’s nod to her two comrades, there was good news from whoever she contacted.

“What? How?” Luthor uttered in disbelief. Batman wordlessly lifted his wrist. He had texted the other members the situation while everybody else was distracted. Luthor’s thick eyebrows immediately pulled into a flat frown.

“Next time Luthor. Don’t get a failed magician to help you out” Batman stepped forward before delivering a blow that knocked Luthor out.

“I can’t believe that she’s there” Superman muttered.

“Are you okay ma’am?” The green energy was gone and she was on the ground. She was in the arms of the Martian. He was the one who asked if she was okay.

“I feel a little… Groggy? Kinda like I want to barf to be honest” Y/n grumbled as she touched her head. It was an odd, almost lethargic feeling. Like that feeling when you wake up sick and you don’t know what day it is type of feeling. The alien gently placed two fingers on Y/n’s forehead.

And that was the last thing Y/n remembered. Seeing those two fingers coming towards her head while Green Lantern and Hawkgirl stood to the side. As soon as she could form another though Y/n shot up.

She shot up in her bed? She was home. Her head was a little groggy but a way better feeling than she last remembered.

“What the hell?” Y/n whispered to herself. Maybe she had a very vivid dream. She peeled back the blanket and looked down. She was in the same clothes that she had gone on that date in. A large confused sigh left her lips. She quickly grabbed her phone to search for any news about what happened. Nothing regarding Luthor or Hypnota popped up that was recent. Y/n swung her legs around the edge of the bed and leaned forward. Her head was in her hands. Another huge sigh left her lips. She looked at her phone for the time.

“OH MY GOD?” It was two days later. Oh my god, she lost two whole days? She immediately shot up in a panic. Her feet began to pace back and forth as she frantically searched her text messages. She was about to text her boss Mr. Rogers about to ask for forgiveness for missing two whole days of work.

“What?” The word breathlessly floated out of her mouth.

🌸Y/n [Mr. Rogers I am feeling terrible. I will not be able to come in for a few days. I’m so sorry]

👴🏾Mr. Rogers [ No problem. Y/n take care of your health. Please keep me updated. Mr. Rogers]

She flipped through several other text messages she had with other people and she had supposedly texted some excuse to them. Damn she was crazy thirsty. Y/n power walked to her fridge. Her hand grasped the handle but the paper stuck to the front of her fridge prevented her from opening it. She definitely didn’t put that there.

The paper read (We are sorry to drop you off like this. Enjoy the food sister and regain your strength. We will see you soon.) The language and beautiful handwriting was a dead giveaway to who wrote it. Y/n’s neck and eyebrow twitched in confusion. Enjoy the food? Y/n opened the fridge to see her previously embarrassingly empty fridge packed to the brim with food. High quality stuff too. It was all a little overwhelming. It was so much she had a hard time finding her water filter pitcher. The cool water sliding down her throat felt so heavenly. She stood there in her kitchen just astonished.

This shit is so crazy, she’ll probably become a Justice League member at this point. Y/n giggles to herself. Her as a Justice League member? Now that’s true comedy. Who would she be? Average Woman? Yeah that really rolls off the tongue. Not much she could do for the league besides maybe be their tailor. Or maybe the comic relief. Y/n sips her water as her eyes gaze over the note again.

“We will see you soon huh? At this point I don’t doubt it” Y/n muttered to herself. As much as Y/n has tried to deny it these past few weeks. Her life seems to be tied to this group of heroes. “God what did I get myself into?” Whispered to herself as she hungrily delved into the copious amount of new snacks in her cabinets.

Notes:

I did some research on Hypnota before this fic. I know currently she's cannonly a woman but I like how was initially introduced as a woman who preferred to dress as a man. So, in my headcanon Hypnota is a transman, at least in my fics. But this is it for this miniseries! I will continue the story of this SuperWonderBat reader relationship. I just gotta figure out how their relationship continues. Anyway it'll probably be awhile before I write anything else, finals are close by and I have a quiz tomorrow I did NOT study for lmao. Oh well. Let me know what you guys think! I love reading the comments. I think when I come back, it'll probably be that Quicksliver x Human Torch x Reader love triangle I was talking about. I've also been reading Crowley (Supernatural) fanfic lately, so I might write some Supernatural fanfic. Or even Star Trek Voyager with Seven of Nine or Smallville. I'm rambling again. If you're interested in any of those ideas or fandoms let me know. It might give me motivation and something to do over the summer other than work. Rambling at the end of my fics is my treat for finishing. Also I realize I forgot to write Flash in lmao! Sorry Wally! Let's just say he was busy. Thank you for reading!

Notes:

Please let me know how I did. I decided to start first with Clark, cause this scenario was easiest to write for me at the moment. Let me know if you want Diana or Bruce next. Also I finally caved to start writing fics, cause like a year ago I had a dream that I was the girlfriend of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. I didn't know their secret identities but I was in a romantic relationship with just their superhero side. And the idea of that has been in my head ever since, I just now decided to take the leap.
