langa was never great with kids.

but he was best friends with a guy who had three sisters, so naturally, he always somehow got pulled into interacting with the kids whether he'd like it or not.

and it wasn't like he didn't like his sisters, more like he never really had an opinion on kids in general but the fact that they were reki's sisters made them more memorable. in fact, everything langa notices about the girls somehow just revolves around reki, like how koyomi's hair is just as curly and untamable as reki's or how the two twins have the same nose as reki or how nanaka is just as loud and spontaneous as reki and how chihiro seems to always scribble away in her tiny sketchbook just like reki does.

okay- he knows he likes reki, in the way best friends shouldn't like each other. and thinking back at how he relates everything to reki and reki only, maybe.. just maybe he got it a little too bad, maybe he fell a little too hard.

but that had nothing to do with his situation at the moment- langa is currently in the middle of the grocery store with nanaka in one hand and the shopping cart filled with groceries in the other while he watched his mother and reki's mother, masae chat away forgetting he was even there.

langa wouldn't really mind it if it weren't for nanaka trying to climb onto him while he didn't exactly know how to hold her as he held her by her tiny shirt as if she was a plastic bag. nanaka didn't seem to mind the way langa held her either way as she kept grabbing onto the hem of langa's shirt and tug it.

masae finally looked back at langa and nanaka as she laughed "oh- i'm so sorry langa! i almost forgot you were here while talking to nanako"

langa's mother gestured langa to hold nanaka properly as langa gently scooped her up instead of holding her like a plastic bag as he awkwardly balanced her legs "weren't you going to meet with reki anyway after this? why don't you go now?" langa's mom asked

langa shot her a unimpressed look knowing exactly what she was implying "alright"

"you wouldn't mind taking nanaka with you?" masae asked with a bright smile, just like reki- shut up langa..

langa briefly glanced at the 5 year old in his arm as he shook his head "i don't mind" he said to which the two women smiled eagerly.

"oh thank you langa! you can leave all the groceries to us" masae said "we'll do some more shopping and come back"

langa knew 'some more shopping' meant they are not coming back home for like at least a few more hours.

langa bowed his head briefly to masae as he handed the shopping cart to him mom who smiled as he patted his back while langa quickly bid a goodbye to the two women who were probably planning on going crazy at a clothing store as he started carrying nanaka out of the store.

"langa! langa! look" nanaka tugged his collar gently as he pointed at a very huge dog that a random passerby was walking with "a bear!"

"i don't think that's a.." langa paused as he glanced at the dog "you know what? yeah that's a pretty small bear" he said way too monotonously for his own good as he continued walking as he briefly decided to go to his apartment to take his skateboard before going over to reki's

"i like bears!" nanaka said as she threw her arms up, probably gesturing like a bear but langa was still confused by what she was doing

"that's cool" langa said as he continued walking with her in his arms

"are there bears in america?"

"i'm from canada"

"kana...?"

"canada"

nanaka looked like she absolutely had no thought behind her eyes as langa continued to carry her around.

"i'm pretty sure there are bears in america though"

"oh really?"

"yeah"

"i wanna see a bear!"

"you just saw one now though" langa said and nanaka tilted her head as she threw her arms up again

"no i wanna see a big bear!"

langa hummed "a big bear" he repeated what she said as she nodded enthusiastically

"i've seen a polar bear before" langa said as she tilted her head in confusion

"polar?"

"a white big bear"

nanaka's eyes widened in surprise at that as he gently hit langa's shoulder in excitement "you saw a white bear?! i saw that on tv! they are in snow!!"

langa smiled slightly at that "yeah they live in snow" he said as he finally got to his apartment as he went in as he took the elevator to go up to his floor while nanaka quiet down for a bit as she saw her own reflection in the elevator as he started making weird faces.

'the faces she makes, it's like reki-' langa shut down the thought as he exited the elevator to get to his house as he unlocked the door as he briefly realized that this was nanaka's first time at his house.

"is this your house?" nanaka asked as she looked around curiously as she immediately patted him while reaching down and langa took it as a signal to put her down as he gently placed her on the ground

"yeah it's my house" langa said as he didn't know if he should let her wander around but he did let her anyway as he quickly went into his room to grab his skateboard.

by the time langa came out of his room with a skateboard in hand, he saw nanaka already trying to climb the dining table as he quickly walked over to her as he grabbed her by her tiny shirt "you shouldn't climb onto things on your own" he said as he realized she was looking at the photo frame on the table.

"who is that?" she asked as he pointed at oliver and langa bit his lip as he didn't answer her for a bit as he scooped her back up properly

"that's my dad"

nanaka looked at the picture curiously "i've never seen him before" she said as she looked back at langa

langa didn't know how to respond to that as he looked at the picture of his dad "he's not here" he said

"where is he?"

"in the sky" langa decided to answer as he stepped away from the dining table with her back in his arm and his skateboard on the other

nanaka only looked at him more curiously "why is he in the sky?"

langa moved back over to the front door as he let himself out of his own apartment as nanaka stared at him with her big eyes

"because he likes to fly" langa found himself saying with a smile

nanaka watched his expression as she giggled but she didn't say anything anymore as if she understood what he meant even though she clearly didn't as langa climb back into the elevator and went back down and back out as he found himself stop in front of his apartment.

'can i skateboard with a child?' langa found himself asking in his head as he put his skateboard down as he glanced at nanaka who seemed to be distracted by the flock of pigeons flying in the sky as she reached up as if she were catching them in her tiny hands.

these were the times where he probably needed reki to tell him if he should or shouldn't but he decided he could if he were to skate as slow as possible as he got on his skateboard as he started skating with nanaka still in his arms.

nanaka seemed to enjoy this as she had her arms up, screaming langa's ears off as if it were a roller coaster ride even though langa was barely going fast but as long as the kid had fun, at least that's what langa thought as he let her scream all the way back home.

langa finally stopped his skateboard right in front of the kyan household as he felt the nanaka tug his shirt and reach down as he put her down gently as he watched her run right into her house as he got off of his skateboard and kicked it back into his arms before he followed her inside.

he was immediately greeted with the loud tv noises as he let out a 'i'm coming in' before he step his foot in as he followed nanaka and walked right into the living room to see koyomi with a bunch of books scattered on the ground.

"one chan!" nanaka tackled koyomi which koyomi seemed to welcome as she laughed while she hugged her baby sister

"oh langa kun!" she said as she glanced at langa at the door to which langa bowed his head even though she was younger.

"where is reki?" langa asked without missing a beat to which koyomi only seemed to let out an amused laugh

"he's showering at the moment" she said as she set nanaka down as nanaka seemed to rush out of the room almost instantly

"ah" langa let out as he paused not really knowing what to do as he glanced around the living room before letting himself in

"where's mom?" koyomi asked as she pushed the bowl of tangerine towards langa's side as langa took that as a cue to sit down next to the coffee table

"shopping with my mom" langa said as he took a piece of tangerine with his bare hands as he started munching on it

"again?" she asked as she rolled her eyes and langa couldn't help but agree with her

"tell me about it" he said as he stuffed his mouth with more tangerine as koyomi let out a laugh at his reaction

"oh anyway, you came here at the right time" koyomi said as she put one of her books on the coffee table as she slid it over to langa "can you check the answers for any grammar mistakes?"

langa glanced down at the words as he skimmed through it for a bit "romeo and juliet for a comprehension?"

"i know right? that's literally the most irrelevant thing a middle schooler could read"

langa shrugged as he continued to read her answers "literature is literature i guess" he muttered as he continued to scan the slightly messy handwriting "oh, here, you can't use 'The' here" langa said as he pointed out as he started to explain all of her grammatical errors while koyomi seemed to listen to him while she corrected her answers along the way.

langa wasn't even aware of the fact that reki had walked into the room until koyomi had let out a yelp as she looked at her brother by the door before she threw one of her notes right at him

"jeez! you scared me!"

reki got hit by it but picked up the note and threw it back at his sister "it's not my fault you get scared of literally anything koyomi"

langa turned back to see reki leaned by the door with his usual dopey yet bright grin as his eyes darted towards langa "hey dude! didn't think you'd be here teaching this rascal"

"who are you calling a rascal!?"

"you of course!" reki earned another book thrown at his face for that as he laughed and chucked it right at his sister again

langa watched them chuck books at each other as he was pretty used to the chaos at this point as he sat there licking his hand after devouring all of the tangerine on the bowl.

langa decided to take a brief moment to just admire reki's side profile while he was still chucking books at his sister (either reki is way too attractive or langa is just way too down bad for his best friend, and he concludes, both. period.) langa let his eyes wander over him as he noticed his hair was still slightly damp probably from the shower but it was curling at the ends as it dried and the wet parts of his hair dripped down to his shirt while he also noticed that reki didn't have his head band on yet which made his hair look more fluffy and wild and langa could smell reki's usual orange scented shampoo even though he wasn't close enough to him- god- langa wanted to run his hand through his hair and-

langa quickly swallowed his thoughts as the chaos only seemed to grow bigger as the twins seemed to come back into the room while chasing each other and it wasn't helping that chihiro practically was crying her eyes out as she launched herself right onto reki while reki caught her amidst the chaos while nanaka seemed to be holding a whole ass bug in her hand as she was waving the poor thing around.

"hold up- hold up-" reki said as he watched the other two girls freeze in their spots as chihiro only grabbed onto reki's shirt tighter as she let out a loud cry

koyomi immediately realized what it was as she scooped up nanaka as she shook her around "nanaka let's go drop the bug off okay? it's scaring chihiro"

"bug!" chihiro screamed as she pointed at nanaka to which nanaka looked absolutely not bothered at all while reki quickly pulled chihiro to the other direction as he cradled her in his arms

"the bug will go away, goon" reki said softly as he gently cradled her while she hid her face in his chest and sobbed her eyes out as reki gestured koyomi to take nanaka to the backyard to throw the bug away.

but nanaka immediately started throwing a tantrum and tried to escape koyomi's arms with the bug "no the bug is mine!" she screamed now and reki and koyomi just seemed like they were about to lose half of their life.

langa realized he probably shouldn't be sitting and watching the chaos as if it were an interesting movie as he decided to get up and walked towards nanaka and koyomi while he pulled up nanaka from koyomi easily as he held her up again like he's holding a plastic bag.

"you can't own a bug" langa said bluntly as nanaka now looked like she was about to cry and koyomi quickly just pulled langa towards the backyard so that they could at least let the poor bug go

"why can't i?" nanaka asked as her eyes brimmed up with tears as langa slightly panicked not really knowing how to handle kids as he looked at koyomi for help while koyomi was trying to gently nudge the girl's hand open to let the bug free

"because.." langa paused as he blinked, trying to think of a reason that nanaka might accept "... the bug doesn't want to be owned?"

nanaka blinked in confusion as she stared at langa but she opened her hands as koyomi quickly pulled the bug away and threw it back into the bushes while nanaka started crying as she tugged on langa's shirt and reached towards the bug

langa glanced back at koyomi while koyomi took that as a signal to scoop nanaka out of langa's arms as she started cradling her the same way reki was cradling chihiro a while ago as he heard koyomi try to rationalize the situation saying 'the bug will come back to see you' 'but you can't pick up a bug like that' and more sweet nothings

langa and koyomi went back into the living room as chihiro was now somehow calmed down as she was sitting on reki's lap while her eyes were fixated on the ice cream ad that was going on the tv. koyomi quickly walked out of the living room with nanaka still in her arms who was sobbing her eyes out as she probably wanted to calm her down some other way. langa didn't really know what else to do as he decided to sit down next to reki and chihiro after the whole chaos somehow come to calm down.

"how do you even deal with kids?" langa asked with a light groan which made reki laugh

"you'll get used to it if you were constantly around kids" reki said as he gently ruffled chihiro's hair which made langa smile to himself at how gentle reki was

"no, you're just good at everything" langa said as he glanced down at chihiro who stilled watched the tv quietly "you're naturally good with kids"

that earned a flustered look from reki as he scratched the back of his neck "dude seriously- i'm not all that-"

"you are" langa insisted as he looked back up at reki "you're amazing reki"

and that only made reki look even more flustered as he covered his face in his sleeve in response which made langa's heart leap at the sight.

'he's so adorable'

"stop buttering me up- geez-" reki whined

"i'm telling you the truth"

"oh my god langa-"

"i'm hungry!" langa and reki were interrupted by chihiro announcing her need as she looked up at both of them expectantly

"hungry already?" reki groaned as he tickled chihiro's sides as she let out a giggle while reki picked her up as he got up as he peppered a few kisses on her face "let's go make lunch then, goober!"

langa's heart only melted more at the sight of reki being affectionate as he subconsciously got up and followed reki along to the kitchen while reki was carrying chihiro up while making airplane noises which langa thought was the cutest thing ever.

reki put chihiro down on the dining table as he started moving around the kitchen as he opened literally every cabinet there is while langa simply leaned onto the dining table as he watched reki.

"why did you come home early anyway?" reki asked as he continued to move around the kitchen as he prepped up everything

"i met masae at the grocery store while i was shopping with mom" he explained as he glanced down at chihiro who seemed to be staring at his hand on the dining table as if it was the most interesting thing ever "and they decided to go shopping together and i brought nanaka home"

reki let out a laugh as he took out what seemed like curry from the fridge as he put the pot on the stove as he started heating it up "i'm not even surprised at this point" he said

"i know" langa said as he watched reki before he felt something poke his hand as he glanced back down to see chihiro poking his hand as he didn't really know what that meant as he stared at the kid in confusion before he decided to flip his hand so that his palm would be facing up and chihiro's eyes seemed to light up at that as she continued to poke his hand while langa didn't really question why as he let her do whatever she wanted.

"did you bring your skateboard? i was watching this cool video this morning and there was this guy who was doing this really cool trick and he was literally like flipping the board off from the railing it literally looked like he froze in air dude-"

reki continued rambling as usual and langa was happy enough to listen to his beautiful voice all while he also kept his eye on chihiro who started curling his fingers as if she were to count numbers on his fingers as langa briefly got distracted by that as he lifted his hand up and counted for her while she seemed to giggle as she counted in her own hands.

langa hadn't noticed that reki had stopped talking as langa counted in his fingers observing how she counted her ones from her pinkie while he counted his ones from his index finger which made the kid confused as langa decided to count it from his pinkie as well as chihiro started saying the numbers out loud which made langa smile a little as he used his other hand when the numbers went above five. langa couldn't help but be slightly amazed by how small her hands were as he wondered if his hands were small like hers when he was a child too.

langa only stopped what he was doing when he heard a faint noise of a camera click from a phone as he looked back up to see reki having his phone out pointed right at langa and chihiro as langa quickly put two and two together in his head as he blushed before he covered his face while chihiro looked back at her big brother cluelessly.

"and here i thought you said you were bad with kids" reki teased as he stopped pointing the phone at him as he seemed to scroll through the pictures on his phone

"i guess i can keep them entertained" langa said as his heart skipped a beat at the way reki looked at the two of them, he figured reki had this fond look in his eyes because of his sister but the fact that he was still a part of it made butterflies erupt in his stomach.

"you put up with nanaka while coming home too didn't you? you're getting good at this" reki said with a chuckle as he turned back to his rice cooker and the boiling curry in the pot

langa only shrugged as a response as he glanced back at chihiro who was looking between the two of them as if she was trying to understand what they were talking about.

but all of their attention turned towards nanaka rushing into the kitchen scream "lunch!!!" as she ran around the dining table before she tried to climb the table by herself to which langa quickly picked her up and set her on top of the table next to chihiro making sure she didn't get hurt.

"yeah yeah kiddo, lunch is on it's way" reki said as he continued moving around in the kitchen area

"what is it anyway?" langa asked as he eyed the pots on the stove and the rice cooker

"mom made curry in the morning, i'm just heating that up" he said "and some rice and some tofu" reki said and langa hummed as he felt his stomach growl hearing about the food which earned a laugh from reki

"is lunch ready yet?" koyomi walked into the kitchen with a manga in her hand that langa's eyes seemed to land on solely because the cover had two guys leaning into each other on it.

"holy shit why are everyone here?" reki asked as he glanced at the room now pretty much full

langa paused as he looked around as well as he realized someone was missing "wait where is your grandma again?"

"she went over to her brother's house" koyomi said as she laid the manga down on the table and langa's eyes immediately went over to the page that was open "to check on the farm and stuff"

"oh right" langa muttered even though he literally didn't know reki's grandma's family owned a farm but he didn't question it since his whole attention was focused on the page of the manga.

koyomi seemed to noticed langa's glance at the manga as she smirked "it's BL" she said casually as she slid it over to langa "wanna read it?"

reki seemed to almost choke in air as he heard koyomi as he turned to shoot her a glare "don't put him on the spot like that-"

langa noticed the red dusted over reki's face but he decided to take the manga in his hands anyway as he flipped through it as he saw multiple panels of the two boys basically fooling around and falling in love. it wasn't his first time ever seeing a BL manga before, he'd read online ones before when he was in middle school back in canada, but he had never expected reki's sister to be into this.

"pretty cool" langa said with a shrug as he slid the manga back to koyomi which earned an almost shocked expression from reki and a huge smirk from koyomi

"i know right?" koyomi said as she flipped over the manga "i like this one a lot because the male lead turns out to be a seme even though he looks really feminine" she said as she showed him one of the panels of the male lead pinning the main character against the wall

langa hummed in acknowledgement, he knew what she meant despite not being familiar with the terminology "i get what you mean" he said "but he is taller, so i guess that works"

"a character doesn't always have to be tall to be a seme" langa was surprised this time because it was reki saying it and that only made langa's heart pound in his chest out of nowhere

'so reki is into stuff like this too?.. so..'

'..that means he doesn't mind guys liking guys', langa concludes, and that somehow fueled fireworks all over his body even though reki never mentioned anything about him being into men.

"but taller seme just feel right ya know?" koyomi said with a shrug "but hey short kings i guess" she said to which reki rolled his eyes at her

"alright cut out the seme uke talk, we literally have two children in the room" reki scolded while langa quickly glanced at the kids who seemed to be talking with each other as he wondered how they conversed with their seemingly very limited vocabulary or what they even talk about.

the rice cooker beeped as everyone in the room turned towards it as reki opened up the rice cooker as he checked on the rice as he let it cool down for a bit as he continued to cook the tofu while putting the curry on low heat

langa and koyomi seemed to just go right back to looking through the manga while koyomi prefaced the manga for him while the two of them laugh at the few panels where the couple are clearly dumb and oblivious to the fact that they like each other.

as their lunch finished cooking langa and koyomi helped set the table while reki prepared the plates for everyone and served everyone their food before all of them sat down to eat their lunch. it wasn't anything new to langa, langa had eaten with reki and his sisters several times before but this time seemed a little different maybe because masae was not around to watch them or maybe because reki had made the rice and tofu himself and it almost felt a little domestic in the back of langa's little gay brain which he always says to shut up.

but langa's brain immediately shut down when the food hit his mouth as he started inhaling food with no thoughts behind his eyes what so ever.

and after a while of reki idly conversing with koyomi while langa was in a food coma and the twins were making a mess that reki and koyomi constantly cleaned up as if it was muscle memory, everyone finished up eating as langa decided to join reki to wash the dishes while koyomi somehow seemed to read his head on wanting some lone time with reki as she pulled the twins to their bedroom, leaving reki and langa all alone in the kitchen.

"must be tried huh? being around the kids?" reki asked while he continued to wash the dishes while langa glanced at him

"not really" he muttered "it's kind of fun"

reki seemed slightly surprised at that "really?"

"yep" he said as he continued washing the dishes along with reki "but i guess they are tiring sometimes"

reki laughed softly at that "they are" he said "i'd always be grateful to my mom, because i know she probably put up with a lot when i was a kid"

langa smiled at that as he thought back to his own mother "yeah" he muttered

"speaking of moms, when are they even coming back?" reki asked with a laugh to which langa laughed along

"who knows? you know how my mom gets when it comes to clothes"

"right" reki laughed "that one time when we went to get ice cream and your mom literally dressed you up like a model"

langa blushed in embarrassment at the memory, since his mom willingly decided that their friendly hang out was a 'date' because langa had a crush on reki and that he HAD to impress reki with his outfit.

"yeah that.. was a nightmare" he said as he remembered how many clothes his mom made him try on before picking out that outfit.

reki laughed "hey, at least she has a good sense of clothing dude" he said with a shrug "you clearly don't"

langa shot him a playful glare at that "says the guy who owns the same hoodie in 7 different colors"

reki gasped in feigning offense as he playfully nudged his elbow with his own "at least i wear the rainbow instead of your boring white shirt"

"what's wrong with my boring white shirt?"

"it's boring, duh?"

"but it works, white is a standard color"

"still boring"

"i look fine in it don't i?"

reki paused at that as he let his eyes dart down langa's body almost as if he was checking him out which made langa's heart skip a beat as he looked back down at the dishes to control the color in his cheeks

"you do" reki said in a mutter which was still loud enough for langa to hear but langa didn't know what to say as he tried to control his blush while he let the silence take over between them

it wasn't long until the two of them finished washing the dishes as they put everything in it's place before deciding to go check on the kids before they secretly sneak out to skate as they always do. but this time, they couldn't because the kids were no where near sleeping even though they always used to fall asleep after lunch from what langa had remembered.

instead the twins seemed to just drag reki and langa along to play while reki and quickly apologized to langa, even though langa didn't exactly mind it as they quickly realized the twins were going to do a whole damn makeover once they sat down. langa stayed in his place as he watched nanaka and chihiro pull out many accessories and what seemed to be their mother's makeup kit as langa briefly wondered if masae was okay with the kids having access to it but reki didn't seem to scold them at all so he supposed it was fine for them to use it.

"you can't just put makeup on someone because you want to" reki said instead as he looked at his sisters while he gestured towards langa "ask for his permission now goons"

langa blinked as he looked at reki before looking back at the twins who stared at him not knowing how to asked

reki playfully glared at the two kids "can you please let us do your makeup?" reki said gesturing towards langa again

the twins immediately repeated the same sentence to langa which only made langa chuckle at how reki seemed to teach them things as langa nodded with a smile "sure, go ahead"

nanaka and chihiro immediately lit up at that as they scattered around the room picking up more things to put on the two boys as reki turned to langa as he muttered "you sure?"

langa nodded with a smile "yep" he said "it's just makeup"

reki seemed slightly relieved at that while he watched the twins bring different colors of nail polish while reki shot them the look again while they turned back to langa as if to ask for his approval

"nail polish is fine too" langa clarified and the girls beamed

koyomi walked into the kids' bedroom as if she walked into a murder scene as she let out a playful scoff "all of you are having a girls makeover party without me?"

"it's called 'girls makeover party' for a reason, no gremlins allowed" reki retorted playfully

"says the thing that's nowhere near being a female"

langa couldn't help but laugh at koyomi's comeback while reki shot langa a quick glare at that

"what now? i can't be pretty because i'm a dude?" reki asked as nanaka started physically assaulting his face with foundation which made langa and koyomi laugh more at the sight

langa couldn't continue laughing as chihiro started applying makeup on him as well as he decided to stay still as much as he can but it was very hard with koyomi laughing her ass off at her brother

"nanaka sure knows how to do your makeup" koyomi teased and nanaka let out a cheerful 'yay' without knowing it was a jab towards her as well

"that's a makeup sponge love, not a hammer" reki whined as he gently guided her to blende the foundation on his skin

langa couldn't help but be more surprised and in awe by the fact that reki seemed to know how to do his makeup, and it really shouldn't be a surprise since there are like five women in his family (including his lovely grandma) but langa still couldn't help but be surprised by his skill. reki really is good at everything.

chihiro was a lot less chaotic when it came to doing langa's makeup while she didn't seem to know what she was doing, she still seemed to be having fun while she seemed to only pick out different shades of blue for langa's makeup and that reminded him of how his mom had told him that blue was his color and maybe even the kid thought so too.

"move over ladies! i'm doing the nails!" koyomi announced as she joined in as she seemed to do reki's nails first as she picked the color on her own without asking for her brother's preference and reki really didn't seemed to mind whatever his sisters were doing which made langa wonder if the kyan sisters had always put makeup on reki.

of course langa's thoughts drifted to how reki would look like in actually well done makeup, not that reki wasn't already pretty (he is breathtakingly beautiful even when he's half asleep in class, in langa's opinion) but he knew reki would look even more gorgeous if he ever had his makeup done and langa decided that he probably might not survive without having a heart attack if that ever happened.

langa might have just stayed in his head thinking about reki for too long as he was snapped back to reality by nanaka pulling on his hair as he realized that the twins had switched places to do their hairs while koyomi sat down next to langa to do his nails

"you like red?" koyomi asked as she picked out a shade way too similar to reki's hair

"yeah" langa muttered as he let his eyes wander to reki who's hair was being tied into a pony tail at the moment

koyomi seemed to catch his glance but she didn't say anything as she started coating his nails with nail polish "is this your first time having your nails done?"

langa paused as he looked back at koyomi "not really" he muttered as he briefly thought back to the time when he used up his mother's pink nail polish because he wanted to match with her as a kid and his mom and dad had laughed it off saying it was pretty on his hands.

"that's cool" she said with a chuckle "painted nails are prettier than boring ones anyway"

langa couldn't agree more as he let out a soft laugh at her comment "true"

langa watched koyomi continue to do his nails while nanaka brought him a hand mirror so that he could look at his own hair as he now knows that his hair is put in two uneven pigtails and way wayyy too much blue eyeshadow on his eye which almost reminded him of shadow's makeup but he didn't mind it as he quickly ruffled nanaka's hair mumbling a little 'thanks' to which nanaka seemed to show him the biggest grin she could.

reki had apparently had his makeover finished as he leaned over to langa with chihiro on his lap as he started laughing at how langa looked and commented on how crooked his pigtails were and how his eyeshadow made him look like he had a black eye while his sisters don't even seem to register the fact that his big brother was pretty much dissing their makeup skills and they were laughing along with him and langa didn't mind the light jabs what so ever as he only stared at reki admiring how he looked (even though he also looked like a budget version of shadow) reki then showed off his blue nails while he laughed at how silly the red eyeliner looked on him as ran a hand over his hair that was now somehow wrapped in a pony tail even though it still looked wild and untamable.

after a while langa's nails were done and the twins had apparently wanted to take pictures of them as reki graciously handed them his phone while langa was again surprised how he had just handed his sisters his phone but then again langa guessed that reki probably didn't have anything weird on his phone that his sisters would open up or his sisters knew what they should or shouldn't see on his phone- either way, reki started doing his usual overly animated poses which were nothing but adorable to langa as langa stared back into the camera not really knowing how to pose as he only threw a peace sign which reki had laughed at after asking his sisters to bring the camera over to see the picture.

reki put his camera on selfie mode as he held it up while asking his sisters to scoot into the frame while langa felt nanaka climb onto his lap while koyomi peek from langa's side at the camera and reki had threw an arm around langa's shoulder while chihiro stayed on reki's lap. langa remembered to smile before reki clicked a few pictures of all of them before putting the phone down and scrolling through all of the images that langa now seemed to adore not only because of reki's bright grin that he always loved, but reki's sisters also flashed their brightest grins which made it more special in a way to langa.

while the girls were packing up the makeup kits, reki quickly pulled langa to the bathroom to clean up their makeup while reki theorized about their 'great escape plan' which basically consisted of putting the girls to bed since they might be tired from all the makeover playtime that happened and let koyomi look over them while they sneaked out to go skate. they decided to go with this plan as they finished up washing their face clean but their nails still painted red and blue which langa realized reki's nails awfully looked a lot like his own hair color but he decided to not over analyze it as he followed reki back into the kids' room.

but of course as soon as they went back into the room the three girls had already seemed to have something planned as the twins quickly rushed over to reki.

"roleplay?" reki asked after hearing the twins' plea as he let out a groan "cmon girls! it's time for your afternoon nap isn't it?" reki said as he gestured them towards their beds

"well it's not like langa kun stayed home to play with the girls this long before, you know?" koyomi said as she looked at the two boys "you always hog him whenever he comes home"

"wow excuse me for hogging MY best friend" reki said as he rolled his eyes

"cmon let the girls have it" koyomi said while langa glanced at the twins who were already pulling out random objects from their toy box

reki paused as he looked at langa "what do you say?" reki asked him instead as langa looked back at him

"i don't mind" langa found himself even though he'd never ever roleplayed with a kid before and he doesn't even know how to.

reki stared at him for a bit before he sighed "alright fine, but both of you are going to bed after this okay?" reki said crossing his arms as he looked at the twins while they practically beamed as they rushed over to reki and hugged him while reki melted off his not so stern look as he hugged them back and gave the two of them a little kiss on the cheek before letting go of them.

"oh we're roleplaying cinderella by the way" koyomi mentioned with the biggest shit eating grin ever while reki actually seemed to choke on air when he heard the name as he shot koyomi the the look that probably said 'are you fucking kidding me?' (at least that's what it looked like to langa)

"isn't cinderella a little too old of a story?" reki asked with a pointed look while chihiro and nanaka had already moved away to dig up a tiara from their toy box

"i don't know, the twins wanted it" koyomi said with a sarcastic smile "don't you two want the cinderella roleplay kiddos?"

the two twins chimed a excited 'yeah' at the question while reki practically facepalmed and langa found himself thinking he's probably missing an inside joke between koyomi and reki from the looks of it. then the twins had walked back up to reki and nanaka climbed onto him before putting the toy tiara on his head "oni chan is cinderella!" she exclaimed while flailing her arms around excitedly and chihiro seemed to run around reki in circles at that while reki seemed as if he just saw a ghost.

and on cue chihiro stopped in front of langa as she tugged on his sleeve "langa kun is the prince!"

"i'll be the step mother" koyomi said with a sly grin as she dramatically flipped her hair while the twins seemed to cheer at the idea

"wow you're just trying to torture your poor brother at this point" reki said rolling his eyes

"boo-hoo go clean your room cindereki" koyomi teased and reki seemed somewhere between offended and embarrassed by what koyomi just called him and langa couldn't help but chuckle at the stupid name

"cindereki?" he muttered to himself and reki groaned at that

"don't even" reki said as he facepalmed again and now langa was pretty sure it really was some inside joke between the siblings

the three were immediately distracted by the twins who seemed to have already started fighting about who wanted to be the fairy god mother and reki and koyomi quickly tried to defuse the fight by asking them to play rock paper scissor and the twins quickly agreed to it and played at least three rounds in which chihiro won which left nanaka pouting about losing but they had quickly put back the whole fight as they started to talk about the story and decided to just start roleplaying.

langa quickly realized the roleplay game that the kids were playing wasn't exactly roleplay but more like them ganging up on reki, as langa found himself in the living room watching the sisters chase around reki saying he needed to clean the house. chihiro had decided to join langa after running at least three laps around the house and langa allowed her to rest on him.

"why don't we go get some snacks while we wait for them to finish running around?" langa suggested out of pure boredom and also because he wanted to eat, to which chihiro quickly agreed.

langa and chihiro then went over to the kitchen, ignoring the whole chaotic screams coming from the other rooms while chihiro conveniently pointed out where her favorite gummy bear stash was in the cabinets and langa asked if he could eat those too and she easily agreed and the two were now back in the living room eating a whole pack of gummy bears while chihiro seemed to be playing with the bears rather than eating them as langa watched her play while eating the rest.

after what felt like a long while, reki, koyomi and nanaka appeared back in the living room while all of them seemed tired except for nanaka who just screamed "we're going to the ball!" as if that was an announcement and langa briefly remembered that they were still apparently roleplaying.

"oh right, ball!" chihiro exclaimed as he hopped off of langa's lap and she rushed towards nanaka while they rushed out of the room together somewhere.

"dude.. i'm so tired.." reki groaned as he slid down the doorframe onto his knees and koyomi did the same

"tell me about it.. geez" she groaned the same as the two siblings caught their breaths

"free cardio" langa said while the two siblings shot him a playful glare in sync and langa would have almost laughed at how alike they are sometimes

"easy for you to say, munching on gummy bears" reki retorted and langa hummed as he continued eating the gummy bears

"time out, i want those too" koyomi said as she crawled towards the table as she reached for the stash as she started eating them too and reki just crawled towards langa and sat next to him.

reki gently leaned his head on langa's shoulder to probably rest up for a bit but langa immediately felt himself freeze at the sudden contact. it wasn't the first time reki had done this but langa couldn't help the pounding heart in his chest threatening to spill all of feelings right on to reki leaning against him as langa tried to calm himself down as he continued to just eat the gummy bears.

it didn't take long for the twins to come rushing back into the living room with a huge white blanket which made reki lift his head back up from langa's shoulder and stare at them in slight confusion while koyomi seemed to have already caught wind on what they were going to do with the blanket.

"this! ball gown!" nanaka said as she pushed the blanket right onto reki while he let out a 'oof' as he caught the blanket

"ahh wait that's actually genius" koyomi said with a chuckle as she picked up the twins and kissed their foreheads "let's make a gown then"

"with a blanket?" reki asked as he looked at the blanket in his hands and langa seemed to have the same question in his head.

but the question was quickly answered because the next thing they know, reki was in the living room t- posing while koyomi and the twins went around wrapping the blanket all over him and pinning it down to make it look like a dress while langa couldn't help himself as he took a few pictures of reki which reki let out loud grumbles asking langa to stop (and langa clearly didn't).

it didn't take long before kids finally finished wrapping the blanket and making it look like a dress on reki, and to langa's surprise, it kind of did look like a dress even though there is a giant claw clip behind reki's back to supposedly snatch his waist (langa found that absolutely funny for some reason) langa was slightly impressed by the kyan sister's weird skill.

"your shirt underneath kills the vibe of the dress" koyomi complained as she circled her brother to get a full 360 of the dress

"i'm not trusting a blanket to keep me from being naked, thanks" reki said as he rolled his eyes

"oni chan! you look pretty" chihiro said as she flashed reki a thumbs up to which reki smiled as he bent down to ruffle her hair

"thanks chi"

"oni chan, it's time for the ball now!" nanaka said as she flailed her arms around which again reminded langa that they were still roleplaying cinderella

the twins immediately pushed reki towards langa and right on cue koyomi seemed to have turned on ballroom music from reki's phone while the two boys looked at the kids and themselves, startled and confused.

"dance! dance! dance!" the twins seemed to chant as they started clumsily dancing on their own mimicking the classic waltz that langa remembers seeing his parents dance out once.

langa glanced back at reki, finally realizing what their roles were as 'cinderella' and the 'prince' as he felt his heart rate quickly sky rocket as he stood there not really knowing how to play along with the situation and reki seemed to be in the same state expect his face was as red as his hair and langa decided to just assume reki was embarrassed to be put in a situation like this.

"if you two forgot, the prince asks cinderella for a dance" koyomi chimed in with a smirk while reki immediately shot her a glare

either this whole thing was a set up by koyomi, who at this point, langa thinks she probably knew about his feelings towards her big brother or maybe god was on langa's side is what he thought as he decided to play along and take this chance.

langa did a neck bow that he had seen his dad do when he had danced with his mother before as he extended his hand over to reki "may i have this dance?" he asked as he looked at him, trying to control his heart from leaping right out of his chest

reki almost seemed to shut down at the sight of langa as he stared way too blankly at him while his face was still bright red but he decided to take his hand anyway and langa considered that a win even though he was probably playing along for his sisters "sure" reki muttered "do you even know how to dance?" reki asked

langa blinked as he shrugged, breaking character for a bit but he still pulled reki close anyway as he gently slid his hand to his waist while trying to avoid getting his hand absolutely stabbed by the claw clip behind reki's 'diy blanket dress' (langa does manage to get his hand stabbed and that finally makes reki laugh and go back to his usual self) reki decided to slide his hand up langa's shoulder to get into a basic waltz position.

"is this how you do it?"

"i guess" langa said bluntly, not really caring that this point as his brain decided to melt down at their proximity instead

while langa was having his tiny melt down, they fumbled for a bit trying to move around and somehow dance but the initial embarrassment wore off from reki as he started laughing at the way langa almost tripped over the blanket dress reki wore and langa seemed to laugh along because it was reki laughing and watching reki laugh always made him laugh too. the two boys continued trying (and failing) to waltz while reki decided he wanted to spin while langa held their hands up and the two of them ended up tangling their arms awkwardly instead of doing a perfect spin and they laughed at each other while trying to untangle themselves from each other.

langa couldn't help but admire the way reki seemed to glow in the back of his head while they continued to mess around in the name of dancing. langa prayed that reki wouldn't be able to hear his heart racing in his chest from just his touch on his shoulder. it was the same way langa's heart raced when he would be skating, he felt the same adrenalin shoot up through his systems and the same excitement course through his veins, just from being close to reki. and that was when he realized, just maybe, he it something more than a silly obsessive crush he had on his best friend and maybe it's something more like the 'love' that his mother and father always talked about. langa definitely didn't want to think about that now.

"and cindereki seems to be having her dreams come true" koyomi said as if she was narrating a line from the book but she weirdly emphasized the word 'dreams' and that seemed to make reki throw a dirty glare at her which she laughed off "but all dreams come to an end" she said as she stopped the music on reki's phone as the twins stopped dancing and langa decided to should probably let go of reki but he still didn't.

"it's 12'o clock!" chihiro seemed to chime up at that as she looked at reki as she started flailing her arms up frantically and nanaka seemed to do the same

"oni chan! run!" nanaka said as she pointed towards the door of the living room and reki glanced at the kids and then langa before untangling himself from langa as he quickly undid his blanket dress

"oh well, guess you'll have to catch me later, prince langa" reki said playing along with his sisters as he winked before rushing out of the room and his sisters seemed to follow him along

"am i supposed to chase him?" langa asked koyomi in pure confusion

"the prince chases him, yeah" she said and langa decided to play along as he started jogging around to apparently chase down 'cindereki'

langa knew where reki went, 'up to his room' langa thought as he jogged up to find the twins by the door and langa went in to find reki on the edge of his window on his skateboard with his makeshift ramp leading down the window. reki flashed langa a peace sign before he let go of the window frame as he skated right down the ramp and out of the house.

'now this is the kind of chase sequence i'd be invested in' langa thought as he rushed downstairs again as the twins seemed to follow him while announcing "oni chan skated away!" and koyomi seemed to walk out of the living room after hearing that as she seemed to have already picked up her own skateboard. langa picked up his skateboard which was by the entrance as he briefly glanced down at the twins and then at koyomi.

"we want to come!" the twins announced as if the two of them read langa's thoughts

"can you even skate with a child?" langa asked koyomi to which she shrugged as she picked up chihiro

"if we can't then we'll blame it on reki" she said and langa decided he liked that idea as he scooped up nanaka in his arms as the two of them started skating out of their house to hopefully catch reki.

langa started going in their usual route to the skatepark without really realizing it while koyomi followed him along while they skated together and langa kept his urge to speed him to himself since he had a literal child in his arms.

"isn't the prince not supposed to catch cinderella though?" koyomi asked while she caught up to langa and langa shrugged

"what do you two think?" langa asked as he glanced down at nanaka in his arms and then at chihiro

"we'll catch oni chan!" nanaka exclaimed as she threw her arms up

"yeah!" chihiro beamed with a smile and koyomi seemed to smile at that

langa hummed at their response as he gently gripped tighter on nanaka "hold on tight then" he said as he decided to speed up

"hey wait for me!" koyomi yelled as she sped up in her skateboard to and langa seemed to notice how she was pretty good at skating even though she only seemed to know the basic moves.

nanaka seemed to be having the time of her life as she held onto langa's shirt for good measures as she screamed whenever langa decided to ollie his way up on a railing to pull shortcuts that he always did when he was with reki almost as if it were muscle memory to him as he continued to skate while still keeping an eye on koyomi who seemed to surprisingly still be behind his tail.

when langa finally got to the skatepark, he'd noticed reki skating on the halfpipe as if he was waiting for them to arrive. langa quickly skated up to him while nanaka easily blew their cover by screaming "oni chan!" across the whole skatepark and reki noticed langa and koyomi skating up to him as reki quickly pulled the oldest (and coolest) trick in the book as he easily launched himself from the halfpipe and right across langa and koyomi as he landed ahead of them.

"catch me if you can losers!" reki taunted them while he started skating away

and langa felt the all too familiar thump in his heart as he heard his taunt as he immediately took a sharp turn and started following reki and koyomi seemed to cuss reki out (in a kid friendly way) while she followed the two boys.

the chase was almost as if the two boys had rehearsed it with reki doing cool tricks on his skateboard which the twins seemed to love since nanaka screamed langa's ears off whenever she sees her brother do those, 'same nana, same' langa thought to himself continued to speed up despite still keeping his distance from reki's board.

reki had somehow led the whole gang to the graffiti wall that langa and reki always pass by on their way to school as reki sped up as his eyes fixated on the red star on the top of the wall and the next thing they knew, reki launched himself up the makeshift box ramp as he crouched on the board to keep his core steady as he reached his arm up to touch the star and langa had never seen reki that high up in the air but the next thing he knew, reki fell hard on the ground and his skateboard surprising landed on its wheels.

langa found himself jumping off of his skateboard and putting nanaka down as he rushed over to reki in a moment of panic to see if he'd gotten injured.

"reki!"

"holy shit-"

langa blinked in confusion at reki's sudden excitement as reki shoved his hand in langa's face as langa saw a red stain on the tip of his fingers and for a second langa panicked it was blood but he soon realized it was the graffiti that had gotten onto reki's fingers.

"i touched the star!" reki exclaimed "langa did you see that?! i literally touched it! it stained my finger! holy shit!"

langa found himself smiling and sighing in relief at the fact that reki didn't really seemed to be totally injured but was taken by surprise again when reki had pulled him into a hug.

"i touched it langa!"

"you did" langa wrapped his arms around him to gently pulled him off the ground "you flew" langa muttered into his ears softly

"not as high as you" reki seemed to whisper back as langa gently tightened his grip when he heard that

"does it matter how high it is when we're both flying together in the same sky?" langa asked softly in return

"guess not" reki said as he buried his head into langa's shoulder which made langa's heart skip a beat

"GROUP HUG!!!"

and they were tackled by the twins and koyomi as they hit the ground again and reki started laughing as he untangled one of his arm to hug the rest of his sisters along with langa.

"did you all see the sick move your big bro pulled? huh? you little meatheads!" reki asked as he squeezed all of them into the hug

langa untangled one of his arm to let the girls hug reki as well as he watched the twins cheer excited at what his brother just did while koyomi threw light jabs at how spontaneous and stupid he was to nearly throw himself on a wall.

langa moved away from reki while picking up both of the twins in his arms while koyomi helped reki up as they all stared at each other for a split second.

"oh wait weren't we roleplaying?" reki asked as he laughed "i literally forgot"

koyomi rolled her eyes at that "why am i not surprised?"

"what now?" langa found himself asking as he glanced down at the twins in his arms who had finally seemed to quiet down

reki and koyomi quickly glanced at each other as if they knew what to do as they scooped the kids up from langa's arms as they picked up their skateboards and langa followed them along, picking up his own skateboard as the three of them started skating back home.

"they're probably about to fall asleep" reki said as he skated beside langa while holding chihiro in his arms while koyomi was holding nanaka this time

langa let out an 'ahh' as he watched the twins almost dazed looks on their faces.

"the running around probably tired them out" koyomi said

"my master plan worked out i guess" reki said with a chuckle and koyomi cringed

"master what now? you were just playing cat and mouse because you didn't want to roleplay cinderella"

"cindereki is not cinderella mind you" reki said with a shrug "it's not lore accurate anyway without the glass skateboard"

langa genuinely didn't know what they were talking about and he didn't really care as he continued to listen to the two siblings bicker all the way home, clearly happy to just keep stealing glances at reki the whole time he argued.

when they finally reached home, reki and koyomi immediately dropped onto the floor of the living room with the kids now fully asleep on them as if they were all just dead and langa got on the floor next to reki as he laid down just like them.

"maaaaaannnn i'm beat.." reki groaned as he stretched his arms

"i feel like i lost half of my lifespan while chasing the two of you" koyomi complained as she mirrored reki and stretched her own arms before she leaned closer to reki's side as she pressed her forehead against his arm

"nobody asked you to follow us dork" reki said as he gently ruffled koyomi's hair in response

"but it was fun" koyomi muttered incoherently as she closed her eyes

"i know" reki muttered softly as he gently continued to run his hand through her hair as he watched her doze off next to him.

"looks like they are all asleep" langa said softly as he looked at reki's three sisters pretty much cuddling up next to him

"can't go skating with these gremlins on me now, can i?" reki said with a chuckle

langa hummed as he let himself stare at reki a little too long as he admired the way the soft light through the backyard hit reki's face as it made reki's little freckles visible in langa's eyes as langa found himself wanting to tattoo this image into his head so that he could never forget the way reki looked this evening. he was too breathtaking to ever want to forget.

"you're staring" reki muttered softly as he turned his head to face langa besides not being able to move an inch with his three sisters on him

"sorry" langa was not really sorry and reki seemed to know that as he let out a soft laugh

"today was wild huh? with these three" reki asked and langa couldn't help but agree

"it was fun" langa muttered softly as he let himself briefly glance down at the girls

reki smirked at that "more fun than hanging out with me? man, i'm jealous now"

langa let out an amused scoffed "you know that's not what i meant"

reki chuckled "i know, i know" he muttered "i had a lot of fun watching you hang out with the girls"

"yeah?"

"yeah"

langa and reki seemed to stare at each other for a whole minute after that, not really knowing what to say to each other.

"you know what was the first thing that i saw from the top, when i touched the star?" reki was the first one to break the comfortable silence between them

"what was it?"

"well it was the star" reki chuckled "but then i saw you"

langa's heart weirdly skipped a beat at that.

"really?"

"yeah"

"why?"

"because i wanted to see if you saw it" reki said softly as he briefly glanced back at the ceiling "because i felt the weird need to prove myself to you.."

langa paused as he hummed softly "i already think you're amazing reki" he muttered "you're the best skater in the whole world to me"

reki laughed quietly at that "the best skater? your bar is too low"

"no it isn't" langa muttered "you taught me how to skate, you know a lot about skateboarding and most of all.." langa paused "i have the most fun with you when i skate" he muttered "i wouldn't trade that for anything else"

reki glanced back at him with surprise in his eyes as his face suddenly seemed to fluster which langa loved to see as he smiled softly at him.

"even if i'm inferior to you?" reki asked quietly

"you never are, never were, never will be" langa answered almost too quickly

reki let out a chuckle "you seem too sure about my skill"

"i could say the same to you"

"touche"

langa laughed softly "i'll skate as long as you skate with me"

"isn't that a little too serious for skateboarding?" reki asked with an amused grin "what if i stop skating?"

"will you?"

"i won't"

"then what?"

"you're impossible" reki rolled his eyes as he looked at him fondly "but i guess we did promise to skate infinitely"

"yeah" langa hummed

"is it.." reki paused his question as he looked away from langa and back at the ceiling "..only for skating?"

langa almost didn't processed the question in his head as he blinked in slight confusion "what is?"

"the promise"

langa realized what he was asking as he found his heart starting to pick up it's pace again "no"

"then what else is it for?" reki asked as he glanced back at langa

"everything"

reki and langa stared at each other for a brief moment as they took in the answer that langa just uttered

"i want to do everything with you, infinitely"

langa felt his own face starting to burn at what he just said while he didn't really know how much of that was an indirect confession as he only stared at reki while he heard the blood rush to his ears.

"do you want to babysit these gremlins with me infinitely then?" reki asked and langa found himself rolling his eyes

"you know that's not what i meant" langa muttered with a slight pout at the way reki laughed after hearing his response "but i guess i wouldn't mind it, if it's with you"

"are you proposing to me mr.hasegawa?" reki teased and langa almost wanted to either melt in the spot or flick reki's forehead and scream 'obviously dumbass'

"i was saying i'd never be able to take care of these kids if you weren't around but sure" he said rolling his eyes despite the fond smile on his face

"dork" reki said as he pulled his free hand over to langa as he ruffled his hair and langa let out a sigh of satisfaction as he felt reki's calloused fingers run though his hair

langa took this as an invitation as he scooted closer to reki while making sure not to disturb all of his sisters sleeping right next to him as he leaned closer to his face. reki dropped his hand down from langa's hair as he gently nudged his hand against langa's as if to ask permission as langa gently put his hand on reki's as he intertwined their fingers.

"just to be clear" reki started as he looked at langa "what we're doing now is not 'bros holding hands' right?"

langa almost snorted out a laugh at that "are you for real?"

"well excuse me for trying to read the room" reki said feigning offense

"is anything we do classified as 'bros doing bro things'?"

"good point"

reki and langa laughed at how dumb they sounded as they stared at each other for a bit.

"i like you" reki confessed and langa let out a soft chuckle ignoring the whole goddamn firework show happing inside his body

"i can tell"

reki rolled his eyes as he gently moved their tangled hand towards langa and gently flicked his nose "shut up dude, you know how nervous i was about this for like months now?"

"same" langa said with a laugh "i would have died if i had to confess to you like a few hours ago"

"you didn't even confess dumbass"

"well" langa laughed "i like you"

"you're like 30 seconds late"

"wow am i getting rejected because i didn't confess first?"

reki let out a siffled up laugh at that as he shook his head "just saying, i'm fast"

"alright, you can have it" langa muttered as he leaned closer as he buried his head into reki's shoulder.

the two of them laid there in silence for a bit as the only sounds in the room were reki's sisters breathing and their own breaths filling the silence

"remind me that i confessed to you when i wake up later" reki muttered, his voice sounding a little tired and langa realized the boy was going to sleep "i might think this was all a dream"

"i might too" langa muttered back "but i'll remind you"
