Work Text:
It’s an average Friday at camp half-blood.
Capture the flag.
Etho is sprinting through the woods, a small pack of red team kids chasing him.
An arrow whizzes past his head, and the son of Athena pumps his legs to go faster.
He sees a vine hanging down from one of the trees ahead.
Etho runs to it, wrapping it around his wrist and hand just in time for it to pull him up into the trees.
He watches false’s celestial bronze sword swing right where his legs were.
“What were you thinking?!” Bdubs hisses, “they almost got you!”
Etho lowers his mask to catch his breath, “I should have known False and Wels would be camping the flag.” Etho groans, “we are going to have to fight them.”
“Alright.” Bdubs says, pulling a packet of seeds from a pouch on his pants leg. He sprinkles the seeds down and vines grow, trapping the kids below to where their feet touch the ground.
“Who’s up there?” Wels shouts into the tree as he and the others hack at the vines with their weapons.
Etho jumps down, the vine still wrapped around his wrist, effectively slowing him down.
Bdubs jumbo down behind him, pulling a dagger from his belt, “ready?”
“Yep.” Etho says to the son of Demeter, his sword summoned from its ring from.
Swords clash, Bdubs’ dagger slashes as vines trip up the two Ares kids.
A few kids join the fight, two from Hephaestus, and one from Aphrodite.
“This is not good.” Bdubs says, throwing a handful of buttercup seeds in Doc’s face causing him to stumble backwards as cherry yellow flowers grow from any nooks and crannies in his artificial arm, wrapping around his feet, stopping him.
“Definitely not.” Etho grits out as he pushes back False’s sword with his own.
Neither boy watches the child of Aphrodite pick up a baseball sized rock, chucking it at Etho.
It nails him in the head and his body crumples to the ground [*coughs* Jason Grace *coughs*].
“Etho!” Bdubs says, turning with wide eyes to see the boy pass out.
Bdubs turns back to see a sword pointing at his throat.
The son of Demeter drops his dagger, throwing his hands up, “I surrender.”
As soon as the two words leave his lips, a horn blows in the distance, and a cheering sound erupts from Bdubs team side.
The five red team kids groan in defeat.
“Good game.” False says, sheathing the sword she had been pointing at Bdubs. She outstretches a hand to him, and he shakes it.
“Good game.” he repeats, “now let’s get sleeping beauty to the infirmary.”
Etho grans from the forest flower, still unconscious.

Etho blinks his eyes open to see brown staring back at him.
“Morning Efho.” Joel says with a grin.
“Gah!” Etho yelps, jumping and falling out of his bed, “why are you here?!”
“What?” Joel asks, stepping back as Etho pulls himself back onto the bed, “in my cabin?”
Etho looks around and realizes he is very much not in cabin six. (If the musical instruments scattered around say anything.)
“What happened?” Etho asks, eyeing his mask on a side table, before snatching it and throwing it back on.
“Bdubs said you got hit with a rock during capture the flag, and since I’m amazing, I healed you.” Joel says, “your boyfriend is pacing on my cabin porch.” he says, looking out the window, “you're free to go by the way.”
“h-he ‘s not my boyfriend.” Etho says, cheeks turning bright red.
“And I’m not a half-blood.” Joel says, rolling his eye before walking away.
Etho swings his legs off the bed, planting them on the ground before standing up and leaving the sun god’s cabin.
“Oh my gods, you're fine.” Bdubs says, running up to Etho.
“I-”
Bdubs pulls down Etho’s mask, crashing their lips together, cutting Etho off.
Instead of pulling away, or pushing Bdubs back, Etho melts into the kiss.
When Bdubs pulls away, leaving Etho painting for air, his face is beat red as he babbles apologies.
Etho pulls the shorter boy in for another kiss, effectively shutting him up.
When they pull away Etho species, “I feel a lot better now.” he giggles, pulling his mask back up.
Bdubs blushes, a big smile on his face, “so are we dating now?”
“If you insist.” Etho says, a fond smile on his face below his mask.
