Work Text:
I write to extend the gratitude of myself and my house! Last issue's article on the ancient Earth warrior-scholar Steve Irwin was a joy to read. He truly embodied the Klingon way. As I tell my students: leghlaHchu’be’chugh mIn lo’laHbe’ taj jej!* Many of today’s degenerate Klingon youth do not fully grok the importance of intellect, research, and strategy as pillars of a warrior’s education. Still others repudiate the warrior’s way entirely, citing humans as successful “pacificists.” Bah! If only they would turn their attention to the example of Steve Irwin!
* A sharp knife is nothing without a sharp eye.
I am pleased that your publication showed proper admiration for the honorable battles he conducted with dangerous fauna in his mission to educate Earth's warriors. His deep respect for his opponents serve as a lesson to youth of all species. As every Klingon knows:
Hoch jaghpu’Daj HoHbogh SuvwI’ yIvup!*
* Pity the warrior who slays all his foes!
Though he died honorably, I mourn the fact that Irwin's battle with a short-tail stingray occurred only a handful of decades prior to the human invention of Warp Drive. What a loss that this great warrior-scholar never had the chance to wrestle a saber bear, drink the blood of a live kolar beast, or do glorious battle with any of the other honorable fauna of Qo'noS!
I look forward to meeting Steve Irwin in the halls of Sto-vo-kor.
