The members of the Faction didn't really care about each other like family should, not as their titles would make it look, at any rate.
The titles were more hierarchical, Godmother or Godfather over Mother or Father over Cousin over Little Sister or Brother, with the Grandfather above them all.
No, Eliza thought, as she looked at Justine in all her determined, beautiful, battle-loving and self-endangering and loyal-to-her-cause (whatever it was) glory, with a warm feeling spreading through her, Faction titles weren't familial at all.
