Clean water drumed a steady rhythm into the humid air while Caitlyn fiddled with the shower knobs. Her lithe form hunched behind the curtain as she tried to find a temperature that wouldn’t overwhelm her girlfriend during her first real shower.
Vi turned in a slow circle in the center of the luxurious bathroom, one thumb resting on the knot of the towel wrapped around her waist. She wasn't shy about being naked around Cait anymore, but she couldn't help but feel exposed being uncovered in the spacious rooms of the Kiramman estate. Vi's gray eyes shifted from elaborate tilework to the intricate carvings on the cabinet doors, and shortly after, the arrangement of bottles and tins inside. She let out a low whistle.
"What the hell is all this," Vi asked over her shoulder, "a cocktail bar?"
Caitlyn's head poked around the shower curtain with an amused chuckle, "Don't tell me you've never seen lotion, Violet."
"How many lotions does one girl need?"
Cait sighed softly. "Get over here already."
Vi padded towards the shower, shedding her towel as she stepped inside. Her girlfriend glanced disapprovingly at the towel on the floor but shook her judgement away as she reached for Vi's biceps.
"How's the temperature, Vi?" Asked Caitlyn, squeezing softly.
"It's really nice actually, they never had warm water in prison." Vi glanced down at Cait's chest for a moment, "before I got locked up we would just wipe down with alcohol, you can't get any water in the undercity that won't scar you."
"Oh."
"My siblings and I all drank orange juice growing up, there's not much else for kids down there. We were lucky enough to live in a bar, Vander had juices for cocktails and whatnot. Most kids would be drinking from a young age." Vi nestled her face into her girlfriend's shoulder as Cait ran her fingers through red hair.
"Siblings?" Caitlyn whispered, "I thought you just had the one." In her head she was thinking about all she had done after her mother died. She had seen her mother laid to rest at a proper funeral and let herself be consumed by grief and a thirst for revenge. Now she felt like an idiot. Vi had watched her parents die at the hands of enforcers. She had seen her adoptive father die multiple times as she was dragged away by enforcers. Been beat regularly by prison guards. All the suffering Vi had gone through at the hands of Piltover's police force and she never acted the way Cait did towards the people that killed her mother. In fact, Jinx was the one who-
"Mylo and Claggor," Vi sighed into Caitlyn's neck, pulling her out of her spiralling thoughts, "they died the night I got arrested. I regret every mistake I made that day."
"Why did you get arrested then?" Cait asked while massaging raspberry scented shampoo into the shorter girl's scalp
Vi leaned back for a moment, sliding her hands up to Caitlyn's face, "you know, they never really told me," she hummed "I assumed it was for the robbery but now that I think about it it was definitely for seeing them in cahoots with Silco."
Cait's expression shifted with worry, "You never even got a trial?"
Vi scoffed, "Zaunites never do. I thought you were Commander, how do you not know this?"
Caitlyn pulled Vi back into her, "I'm so sorry. For everything. I'm trying my hardest to be better."
"I know, Cupcake"
