Devil Theory Dude and DOT EXE Guy

A small collection of art and comics that I've made for the pairing of one of the Devil Theory members with the cue ball member of DOT EXE. Both characters shown here are meant to be "generic" versions of the characters from the game.

Showing one of the Devil Theory crew members and the cue ball DOT EXE member, hugging each other. Cue ball is kissing the DT dude, basically by bonking his screen face onto the side of DT dude's face, much to the latter's blushing embarrassment. Still, despite the embarrassment, DT Dude has a very tiny heart near his face.

So basically like, a jock x nerd kind of pairing, you feel me? lol
These were originally shared to my Tumblr and Bluesky (and Xitter back when I used that), but since AO3 allows for images according to their TOS (see here and here), I figured I might as well share them here too!
To other BRC fans checking this out, what do you think of this ship? A bit silly/out there? Unrealistic? I don't mind if people don't like it, it's understandable since a lot of the fandom think Devil Theory are less redeemable than even Faux (challenge accepted btw, hopefully I can start churning out actual fics for that in the new year. Wish me luck on that!).
So uh also, let me take this time to promo some other stuff! Nothing commercial of course, don't want to break any rules. Over on my main Tumblr blog, I sometimes ramble about my BRC headcanons! Also theories and AUs and stuff like that.
I have so many posts by now, lol. If you're interested, feel free to check them out. And also feel free to either comment on them over there, or comment here about some of them. Heck, you can ask questions about them too, I'll probably either answer here or write out a (long-ish) post on Tumblr and then link to it here. :P
I've got comment moderation on for this, because I want to allow for guest comments, but I also want to be able to catch any spam comments ahead of time. I've heard it's been getting pretty bad in certain circles of A03, so yeah, better safe than sorry. :u
Anyways, here's 3 recent headcanon rambles I wanna highlight:
- Possible connections between Rise and Devil Theory, given that she's seen hanging out on Pyramid Island without getting hassled by them. Suspicious!
- A particular AU/prompt idea of Rise specifically being the hidden leader of Devil Theory, a la Cube being the leader of Poison Jam in Jet Set Radio Future. A fun idea to explore!
- Me rambling about my personal ideas/headcanons for relationships in BRC, starting off with friendships and then getting into the more romantic ones.
So yeah, again, feel free to check those and my other posts out if you're interested! Also feel free to ask here about other headcanons I have. Also also, please ask me more about any particular ships of mine, especially the ones with my Devil Theory OCs, I want to ramble about them so badly, but then I feel bad because I haven't even written the fics where said ships are established yet, plus I'm kinda scared I'll annoy people with it, ahhhh ;o;

Yes!!! I didn't get Devil Theory leader vibes from Rise but I can totally see how that fits right into the canon and would love to see that explored!! And AAAAH THESE TWO ARE SO CUTE I WANT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT EM PLEASE PLEASE :D (if you like chatting on discord mine's rambert7705)

  Thank you, I'm glad you like my ideas for Rise! I think I mentioned this on your own BRC fic, but in general it would be nice if more people explored some of the side characters of the game more. They're almost blank canvases, a writer could do whatever they want with them! Or, maybe that makes it somewhat intimidating to write for them, like there's a bit too much leeway, so there's more blanks to fill in. :u
  Anyways, yes, these two!! I have a more "specific" version of these two (so then, shipping one of my Devil Theory OCs with my version of Cueball), but I also have ideas for these "generic" versions of the characters too. I'll ramble here about the latter! I'll save the former for a chat on Discord later. 👍
  Before I start, these two being "generic" is in the sense of like. They fit with what little we're given of them in canon. Which isn't a whole lot anyways. Especially compared to my more fleshed out headcanon/OC versions of them. Does that make sense? ^^;

  SO OKAY the idea here like I mentioned in the Author's Note is that this is a jock x nerd kind of pairing. Dude being the jock and Guy being the nerd, lol
  
  Though more specifically on how they end up getting together, at least how I imagine it: Dude joins with BRC after the end of the game like the other rival crew members. Basically no one really trusts him that he's turned over a new leaf, even after getting nearly killed by Faux helped convince him and the rest of Devil Theory to stop being assholes. So the rest of BRC are either keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't start anything (and make sure he's true to his word), or don't trust him at all and are waiting to have to deal with him.
  
  He has enough grace to accept all this, especially since he doesn't blame them after what he and the rest of Devil Theory put everyone through. He has to good sense to be a better person because it's the right thing to do, but also feels he deserves getting mistrusted for the rest of his life. It is what it is!
  
  The only person who isn't like that towards him is Guy! He's pretty much immediately friendly with Dude, seeing it as "Devil Theory already got their karma from Faux, why should I pile onto that? Give him a break!". Asking Dude about his day, getting him to play video games together, going together around the city for graffiti, etc.
  
  Dude is suspicious of Guy's intentions at first, like he thinks Guy is trying to find some kind of "weakness" and humiliate him in front of the rest of BRC. Over time, he does accept that Guy is being genuine and opens up to him a bit more. Then eventually they start dating oops, lol
  
  Dude is still kinda a tsundere about affection from Guy, especially in public, but they do genuinely love each other. Guy gets used to that pretty quickly too!
  
  Though, Dude also starts feeling like he doesn't deserve it, that he's going to mess up sooner or later and Guy will hate him forever for it. Effectively some lingering guilt over how much of an asshole he was back with Devil Theory. Guy helps him get over that... with the power of love!! \o/
  
  Related to that, Guy also compliments Dude's looks a lot, saying he's handsome and sexy and stuff. Dude at first just assumes the compliments are jokes, but eventually grows to accept them. He is the kind of guy who can't handle compliments, mainly because he doesn't get a lot of positive feedback like that in general.
  
  Also both of them are touch starved and cuddle a lot. Guy knows what being touch starved is, Dude doesn't. So then Dude just thinks they cuddle a lot because it feels "nice", and even once it's explained to him, he's in denial of being touch starved, lol
  
  Getting into cyberhead/full-cyber headcanons a bit: I imagine all of DOT EXE are either fully cybernetic or VERY close to it, Guy included. That being said, full-cyber bodies still have sensors to feel touch and temperature and other sensations! So Guy does feel it when they're physical with each other.
  
  That's about it for what I have for the generic Dude and Guy, I think? Overall the fun in this ship is the contrast of two very different character archetypes falling in love!~

    Yay this is so adorable thank you for posting it all!! Your art gives off lovely soft vibes already that this explanation complements, but also the dial tone panel really got me haha!! Touch starved is top tier always hehehehe
    And it makes so much sense to have these two pair off after getting a lukewarm welcome at best into BRC. I figure this gang doesn't really have many polycules, mostly just a lot of gay people who form little cliques lolz. Nerd and jock is a great archetype for these two to fit!
