Chapter 1: What's the plan?
Chapter Text
So, this isn't a proper chapter, just me tossing the random thoughts and ideas that spawned this potential fic so I can write chapter one properly later. So-
- Starts shortly after the gate threw the kids out at the 7th day of the 7th month of year X777
- God Serena finds two traumatized dragon Slayers, and decides to take them in when he hears their story- slaying a dragon at such a young age? They must be prodigies!
- What starts as a simple plan to teach the kids to be strong leads to God Serena waking up one night and realizing he's a dad now.
- Drama, slice of life, and actual plot will exist here.
- In this verse, the Lacrima contains a part of the dragon's instincts and soul. 2nd and Third generation dragon Slayers can "speak" to these fragments of the dragon. It is how they learn to use the power without a teacher.
- Dragon Lacrima slayers don't suffer from Dragonization, for some magic/science reason. (I don't have specifics yet)
- God Serena will be an egotistical, spotlight hogging individual, but this will be tempered by the adoption of Sting and Rogue.
- God Serena still desires to fight and slay Acnologia, and prove he is indeed the Dragon Slayer he claims to be.
- This version of God Serena will not be squashed in one hit by Acnologia. I have some plans for an epic fight scene.
- Speaking of powerful dragon characters: Irene Belserion will not be wasted. She should have been an Acnologia-level threat, and I'm going to make sure she is.
- Zeref. There are plans for him. Y'all got to wait and see.
- Rogue and Sting, due to being raised by the strongest wizard in Ishgar, will be a little stronger in canon (Natsu won't be soloing them- Gajeel deserves a chance to shine)
- Rogue and Sting will still join Sabertooth and partake in the Grand Magic Games.
- The grand magic games and eclipse Gate fiasco will be different... Especially with a certain all-powerful dragon slayer in the audience.
Now, I don't have lots of details in mind, but I hope I don't disappoint. Feel free to yell at me if you think I'm stupid.

Chapter Text
God Serena was many things. Wizard Saint, God of Ishtar, Dragon Slayer, World's Strongest Mage, to name a few. Most of the time, however?
He was bored.
Godlike power means that most dark guilds won’t challenge him, and those that did were wiped out under the wrath of eight dragons. It was this boredom, and the lack of leads on a certain black dragon, that would drive him to join the Empire of Alvarez and the Black Wizard Zerref.
In this reality, though, things were different. A single decision, a single change in the way time flows, and suddenly…
It all changes. This will not be the story of everyone’s favorite Wizard Guild, or the story of E.N.D. and those he befriended.
No, no… This story is of a lonely, bored wizard finding something important, something to treasure.
—------------------------------------
It was a rather ordinary day, and God Serena was walking through the woods. There had been rumors of loud roars and wild beasts fleeing, and since all the other Gods of Ishtar were busy elsewhere, God Serena had been begged to head out and check it out. The signs did point to something dragon-related, given the lacrima images of massive claw marks and destroyed trees.
Stopping in a clearing, the God of Ishtar inhales deeply, eyes shut as the scents of the forest are filtered through his lacrima-enhanced senses. Standing there, he can smell a strange, almost sickly magic, as well as two dragon scents.
“Two dragons? And here I thought this would be boring.” Before the wizard could do anything with this information, a low voice snarls through his head- the Darkness Dragon.
”White King Weisslogia and Shadow Lord Skiadrum are here! Find them- they are enemies of the one you seek to slay...”
“Well, why didn’t you simply say so? I’ll get the information I need, and test my strength against them afterwards. A God like myself needs decent sparring partners, after all!”
With his decision made, he begins to walk unafraid towards the smell of dragons, taking note that the other, strange magic seemed to fade with time. Something to look into later, as God Serena really didn’t care for anything but the magic of dragons, and living specimens were impossible to pass up. Following the trail was child’s play, but God Serena quickly realized that a dragon would not make a small path like this. In fact, now that he was focused, it was more like…
”White Dragon’s Talon!” A child’s shout echoed in the woods, and God Serena turned around with ease to catch the foot flying towards his head. He stares a moment at the blond child now hanging from his grasp, and opens his mouth to speak when a second child’s voice rings out.
“Shadow Dragon’s Slash!” This child manages to land a strike to God Serena’s side, but the Hybrid Theory Dragon Slayer doesn’t move an inch. He instead looks between the two for a couple seconds. The blonde struggles as God Serena continues to hold onto the captured foot, and the second child, a pale boy with black hair, slowly sinks into the shadows.
“Well, hello there. Where did you two learn such powerful magic?”
Instead of an answer, he receives two identical dragon roars slamming against his chest. Light and Shadow dance beautifully in the air, but when the smoke clears the elder slayer hasn’t moved.
“That is enough, children. Let a Wizard Saint show you real power!”
Dropping the blond, God Serena decides to show off- dropping to a knee to slam a hand to the ground, causing Luminance and Darkness to burst from the ground in two massive draconic pillars, heading towards the White and Shadow dragon respectively- only to top inches from their faces.
“Have something to eat, you must be starving for magic.”
Both kids are confused, but not ones to turn down a free meal of their respective elements, (Sting in particular was starved for some proper White Magic) especially when he has proven himself to be quite invincible. Only after they have eaten does the elder slayer take a seat on a throne made of stone he quite literally dragged from the earth.
“So, what are your names? I myself am the Wizard Saint God Serena. And please, answer my earlier question.”
It is the blonde that speaks first, in a voice full of childish pride.
“I’m Sting, and this is Rogue! We were taught by dragons! We’re dragon slayers, and we will be stronger than you, old man!”
The second child, having left the shadows and was still “chewing” on the gifted darkness, tilts his head to look at the other. He does not speak for himself, however.
“How interesting! I did not know the dragons were teaching, especially not the Lord Skiadrum and King Weisslogia.”
Using the fact that Darkness had given him the names earlier to catch the kids off guard and prevent them from interrupting him, he leans forward.
“Do the two of you know where they are? I am hoping to test my skills, in order to slay the Apocalypse Dragon Acnologia.”
Only now does Rogue speak, his voice barely audible even to Slayer hearing.
“Dead. They got sick, and we were told to kill them… and take their hearts as Lacrima.”
This was enough to shock Serena into silence, and gave Sting time to shout some questions.
“Who’s Acnologia!? Why do you want to fight him!? Can we help!? Why should we listen to you!?”
The shouting was hell on Serena’s ears, but before he could stop it, he could hear his eight “roommates” all growling a single word:
”Hatchlings Hatchlings Hatchlings-”
“Quiet! I am trying to think!”
He had not meant to shout, especially not in Draconic, but the two children and the dragons in his head all went silent immediately. Rogue’s and Sting’s eyes are wide, before they both respond in the same tongue.
“Sorry!”
“Yes, Sir!”
”No. I will not!”
The dragon of Diamond hissed in Serena’s mind and refused to be silenced. The other seven decided to let her speak freely, agreeing with her next words.
”No dragon would abandon a hatchling, God Serena. This is your chance to raise the next generation, a pair of princes to make strong. A future King and Lord, to replace the lost. Do not waste this opportunity.”
God Serena is quiet a moment longer in the silence left behind, before he slams his hands together.
“I have been inspired by the dragons themselves. Sting, Rogue, how would you like to be strong?”
The question, straight from left field, leaves them speechless, before Sting shoots to his feet.
“What kind of question is that? Of course we do!”
Rogue nods his head, still sitting down after the earlier outburst.
“Perfect! Then, princes of Shadow and White Magic, come with me! I, God Serena, will make you Gods like me!”

Notes:
So... sorry for the delay. Here's the first chapter, leave your comments and concerns below.
On a related note: What if I wrote a sister story where Irene finds Wendy, and is struck by an urge to adopt her? The idea has been bouncing around my head for a while. I think I'll do it, and bounce back and forth between it and this story, simply to keep from burning out on one story.
