Q：I love Eden, and I've created tons of fanarts about them in the past 8 months—it's been non-stop! They're such a well-designed character. I'm especially struck by Eden's moral complexity. While I love them, I'm also angry at the way they abuse the PC! (Maybe I have Stockholm syndrome.) When I stepaway from the game, I don’t know how to feel about this character. Eden gives me strong negative emotions, yet I'm addicted to them, like a ‘dr*g’. I think Eden manipulates and abuses the PC under the guise of being a protector and lover. Their sweetness is dangerously deceptive; I love them and hate them atthe same time. I've accepted Eden's nature, but it leaves me feeling very conflicted. You've mentioned that Avery is positioned as a villain, and Eden has a mysterious connection with Bailey (another villain)... How should we view Eden's role? Do you have any advice for a player who has fallen for them?

Vrelnir：I'm glad you like Eden!You're right that they abuse the PC under the guise of being protective,however, their deceit isn't outward. They've fooled themselves internally, sothey act honestly. That said, Eden is unquestionably a villain. I think it's their vulnerability to themselves that makes them come across as sweet as they do. The PC isn't their first victim.

Q：Eden seems to be avoiding the town, others, and even themselves. You mentioned that Eden was bullied in school and lacked the confidence to stand up for themselves. In some ways, they're weak and easily scared, like helpless prey. But when they show their survival skills or show dominance over the PC, they become a powerful predator, full of brutal strength. Eden is both strong and fragile, cruel yet sweet. Their dangerous nature is also what makes them so attractive and thrilling for players.（This is just how I feel; it might be wrong)
I'm really curious about what inspired you to create them—their backstory, their name, any special influences, and how they differ from other characters. To you, who is Eden?

Vrelnir: Thanks for sharing yourthoughts on Eden. You're right that they're both strong and fragile, cruel yetsweet. They're indeed avoiding others. Their personality is defined by their anxieties.
Eden grew from the same need as the black wolf andwolf pack, to have a threat in the forest that would hunt the PC. I had only avague idea of a gun-toting hunter at first, but as I wrote the initialabduction scenes their character coalesced. By the time they had the PC back atthe cabin, I knew who they were. I'm not sure what inspired the characterexactly. I suspect there are a lot of influences.

Q：Eden's farm rescue was removed a while back. As a player, I like this decision. From a game developer's perspective, why was it taken out of the game?
Vrelnir：I'm glad you like this decision. It was removed due to concerns that it was unrealistic for Eden to be able to travel so far from their forest, and overcome Remy's entire apparatus alone.

Q：Will seducing Bailey be removed in future updates? If so, from a game developer's perspective, why was it taken out of the game?
Vrelnir：It was just removed! （2024.9.8）It was removed as it conflicted with Bailey's character. Seducing Bailey should be a slower burn.

Vrelnir: It's indeed because it ties into Bailey's and the player's core motivations.

Q: Will this storyline be written by you or other developers? Or is it still undecided?
Vrelnir: I plan to write it myself.

Q: I've been fascinated by 'Bailey and Eden's connection' for over six months now. Vrelnir: It's no problem at all! It's wonderful to know you find the Bailey and Eden connection interesting. It's at the core of the game's backstory. There are a few ways I could reveal it, but the most likely is connected to the orphanage hope and rebelliousness stats. Raising them both high will trigger circumstances in the future, if all goes as planned.

Vrelnir: Such gifts are usually related to history.

Vrelnir: That's a good guess, but I shan't say!

Q: You once said that Eden found that fishing magazine and read it for many years; now the magazine is a comfort thing. You mentioned that only Eden and the PC have read it. Does this mean that Eden found it somewhere, and Bailey bought it to give to Eden as a gift?
Vrelnir: They indeed got it from Bailey.

Q: You mentioned that Bailey put the old fishing gear (they used with Eden) in the loft of the orphanage. Why didn’t Bailey throw it away?
Vrelnir: They'd need to return to the loft, first. Though even if they could, they'd struggle to throw it away for sentimental reasons. They'd tell themselves it could still be useful, but that wouldn't be honest.

Q: You once said that Bailey has photos of Eden and their (Bailey’s) crush. Are these group photos or individual ones? Is Bailey in the photos too?
Vrelnir: Both. They include all three of them.

Q: How would Bailey react if they saw this photo in a private place?
Vrelnir: They'd look away at once.

Q: You said that if someone offered a high price, Bailey would deny owning the photo. Does Eden know that Bailey still keeps the photo?

Vrelnir: I fear I do not remember the thoughts that accompanied the connection between Bailey and Eden.

I have a guess, but it might not be correct: Bailey helps Eden because of old friend feelings（They won't admit it）, but not only for emotional reasons—there is also a practical necessity. Q: Gender settings for dol are quite flexible. Players are free to decide the gender of Lis based on their own imagination or preference. I really like this design! How did you come up with this idea?
V: I'm glad you like it! I think people overestimate the differences between lewd games aimed at different demographics. It mostly comes down to aesthetics. DoL being text-based with cute sprites makes being flexible in this way easier than it would be for other games. I'm not sure when exactly the idea game to mind. It kinda built up over time.

V: I think it makes it a bit easier to dig beneath the surface, so to speak, so there's more depth without extra effort.

When Bailey interacts with other villains like provoked by Avery, Bailey tends to remain silent and expressionless. When Quinn is showing "friendly", Bailey also respond with cold and distant. Compared to Bailey's aggression towards orphans, Bailey seems more passive-aggressive to npcs/lis with higher social status. Do you think it's possible that Bailey could be passive-aggressive?

V: I think it's fair to say that Bailey is passive-aggressive. Don't tell them you see Quinn as having higher social status though!

Q: Some of my friends see Bailey as sadmasochist. You mentioned that Bailey experienced sexual abuse, that's really interesting. DOL's sadist PC can become masochist, and considering how dangerous the town is, do you think it's possible that at some point in Bailey's life, unnamed npcs might have abused them during sex and made them orgasm? (we feel better imagining that, it's like taking revenge on Bailey )

V:I shan't comment on Bailey's sexual history, but I'll say they're more sadist than masochist.

Q: You once said Bailey likes being in control during sex, but what if a trusted sex partner got a bit rough and pinned Bailey down? Bailey temporarily loses control, but that one is really skilled. Would Bailey be angry after orgasm? Or is it possible they'd enjoy losing control sometimes?
