It had been a long day. Well with streaming since the day before and catching up on the newest telenovela episodes, it had been about 2 days in which Ivo had not slept a wink. He just hadn't been tired for the past 48 or so hours that was all. It wasn't that long really he could stay up longer, well until sleep started catching up on him.
Stone had banged on about him getting enough rest as his body was still healing from the fall, but Ivo had rested enough. He'd done nothing but rest for months, especially whilst in the crab, and finally he'd had the energy to do things more like he'd used to. So sure he'd been awake for 2 days, he'd been awake longer before any hedgehog stuff happened and he'd been fine. Even if Stone had still gone on about getting proper sleep back then, he'd always been fine.
Still here he was watching Jaun once again fail to win over Gabriella and starting to doze off. Stone had woken him from one lapse in consciousness by saying good night as he went to bed, forcing Ivo to rewind a bit. Yet it took until he managed to miss and have to rewind about 10 minutes of the episode from this dozing that he finally caved, turned the TV off and tucked himself into bed. It didn't take him long to nod off to sleep and start to dream.
At first it seemed like a nice enough dream. He was back just after he'd left that damned mushroom planet and he'd just found Stone, expect they weren't at the Mean Bean. They were in some cold government room Stone sat across from him looking enraged.
"Stone?" Ivo quietly questioned
"You should have stayed gone Robotnik" Stone spat "No one wants you around, you think I liked how you treated me? I was glad that you left, I was finally free. Yet you have the audacity to come back here and try and push me around again." Stone rose from his chair and leaned into Ivo. "You should have stayed gone"
Stone walked out the room and slammed the door making Ivo flinch and his dream jump to somewhere else.
Suddenly he was in the Mean Bean. He had the power of the master emerald, and he was surrounded by gun agents all in the cafe. Tables over turned to make barriers to hide behind, but Ivo make quick work of everyone. He had the ultimate power, he was a god, nothing could stop him. Yet in front of him stood Stone holding a gun pointed towards him.
"Stone" Ivo barked "What are you doing?"
"What I have to" Stone replied shooting Ivo right between the eyes knocking him backwards over the counter.
On his bed Ivo slowly curled in on himself trying to rid himself of the nightmare that just kept going. As in his dream he found himself no longer at the Mean Bean but standing among the wreckage of his death egg robot. Only one thought filled his mind, he had to find Stone.
He climbed over the wreck listening and looking for any sign of life until he finally came upon Stone lying completely still under a large metal beam. Rushing to his side Ivo grabbed the metal beam and carefully lifted it off Stone before pulling him into his arms.
"Doctor" Stone croaked "You're alive" softly he smiled up at Ivo, reaching for and holding the side of his face.
"Hold on Stone, I've got you" Ivo said "I'll get you to safety, I swear" he looked Stone over trying to assess any injuries and noticed a large pole impaling his abdomen. "I'll get you off this and I'll get you to the hospital and we'll be fine, I'll take care of you."
"Doctor, I'm sorry" Stone said, voice fading
"No no no, don't be sorry we'll be fine, you'll be fine, I'll get you out of here." Ivo was trying not to panic but could feel Stone losing strength. "Stone please, hold on, I can't lose you."
"I'm sorry Doctor" Stone smiled, hand wiping a tear from Ivo's cheek "I won't make it, stay safe" and with that his hand fell to his side and he stopped moving.
"No, no, you can't go. Stone. STONE!"
Ivo awoke with a start, tears falling down his face and sweat on his brow. He sat for a bit trying to calm his breathing, before he lay back down grabbed a pillow and tried to go back to sleep. Only to be plagued with images of Stone dead in his arms again.
Sitting up he turned on his bedside light and checked the time, it was only about midnight, so Stone would be in bed. Slowly he considered his options, he could just stay up, but he was still really tired and Stone wasn't up to make him a latte to help stay awake. He could try to sleep but he knew that if he stayed sleeping here he'd only continue to be plagued with nightmares. So that left one option in his mind, something he'd never really done but it was all he could think of. Slowly he grabbed his pillow, turned off his light and headed over to Stone's room. Gently he knocked on the door, hoping that Stone may still be awake.
"Come in" Stone's voice called from the other side, so Ivo opened the door and just stood there for a moment.
"Are you alright sir?" Stone asked before noticing the pillow under Ivo's arm, "Can't sleep?"
Ivo nodded, "Would I perhaps be able to sleep here tonight?" Ivo's voice was small as he asked. Not really wanting to impose himself on his agent, but knowing this is probably the only place he'd be able to get a good rest.
"Of course sir" Stone said, pulling back the covers on his right "make yourself comfortable"
Ivo walked over putting his pillow down and tucked himself in next to Stone, already feeling much better. As Stone turned off the bedside light and snuggled himself under the covers, Ivo turned to him. "You aren't going to leave me are you?" he asked.
Stone smiled at him "never sir, unless you order it". Gently he reached over a pushed some of Ivo's hair out of his face, "I'll stay with you forever"
Ivo hummed in response, tentatively cuddling up to Stone as he started to let himself doze off. Finally falling into a dreamless sleep. Though just before he entered unconsciousness he could have sworn he heard Stone say 'I love you'. That was a worry for morning Ivo however right now he had the best sleep of his life to enjoy.
