Chapter 1: Ms. Frost’s Favor
Summary:
Ms. Frost, the owner of the snack bar Frostia’s Place, has been living in Downtown Springdale for over a decade. Her life as a bartender is as normal as it can get, at least her human life, that is. For she is secretly a Yo-Kai called Frostina, aka a Yuki-onna. No one knows about her true form, that is, until a certain average boy and his Yo-Kai butler appeared in her bar…
Notes:
So I like Blizzaria. Who doesn’t in the Yo-Kai Watch fandom? There’s been some fanfics about her here, but I want to make one of her in the game counterparts and develop it into a sort of legacy of Blizzarias throughout each of the games from 1 to 3. Might do Blizzie too, although I think I need some ideas for her conception.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
”Phew! Finally…”
The nicely dressed woman enters Frostia’s Place and sighs. It’s been a busy trip to the grocery store in Downtown Springdale, and Ms. Frost wasn’t exactly keen to miss out on the latest deals. Granted, there was a bit of a long line, but she managed to get everything on her list. …At least, she hoped she did. Might as well check the bag.
Usual brand of alcohol? Check.
Blueberries? Check.
A couple bags of chips for the kids? Check.
Black Syrup for sweetness?
…Oh. She forgot the Black Syrup.
It’s fine, at least it wasn’t the-
Oh. She forgot the refreshing herbs.
That’s gonna be a problem. Those herbs were for the special brew she’s been using to soothe her customers, an alcoholic smoothie called the Soothing Smoothie. It’s an aptly named drink that makes up most of the profits she gains in her bar due to its special calming properties. Unfortunately, Ms. Frost was so worried about grabbing those deals that she forgot to do her morning routine of grabbing the herbs as a Frostina and setting up the drinks. She could go and try to get them right now, but it’s the middle of the day, and making the special brews would take until nighttime.
" *sigh* What to do now…"She contemplates, putting her hand on her face.
While she ponders what to do about the refreshing herbs, outside the back entrance to Frostia’s Place lies the duo of Nathan Adams and his Yo-Kai Butler, Whisper. So far in their journey, they had just recently upgraded their watch rank to B, which meant they could bypass that B watch gate and go to Eddie’s House. Nate thought it was weird that a gate would be there, considering it’s literally his friend’s house. How did he get in the first couple of times before he had the Yo-Kai Watch? That question would have to wait however, for they have more important matters at hand.
”Alright, this is the only area we haven’t checked in Downtown Springdale, Whisper.” Nate says as he begins to look around the alleyway while shining his Yo-Kai Watch light on everything.
”I‘m telling you Nate, the only Yo-Kai we’re ever going to find in these alleyways are those two little onis, Signibble, and Mynimo. Nothing new is ever going to show up!” Whisper groans, crossing his arms.
”Didn’t we encounter a Cynake here?” Nate points out.
”We did, but that’s in the bushes. This is an ALLEYWAY Nate.” Whisper raises his hands as he says this. “I think you’ll have better luck in Breezy Hills instead, where your friend Eddie is waiting.”
”Well I’m not giving up! There’s gotta be something here, I just know it!”
After shining his light a couple more times (and subsequently revealing the same Yo-Kai Whisper mentioned), he realizes that there wasn’t anything new to find, and he sighs.
”Well, I guess you’re right, Whisper. Time to go to Breezy Hills then- huh?” Just as Nate was about to leave, he noticed a door on the right side of the hallway.
”Was that door always there, Whisper?” he asks.
”Of course it was. You were too busy looking for B-rank Yo-Kai to notice.” Whisper dryly retorts.
”Right… Do you know where it leads?”
”If I remember correctly, this should be the back entrance of Frostia’s Place.”
”Frostia’s Place? Oh, you mean that karaoke place we visited at night!”
”It’s called a snack bar, Nate. Plus, you’re not old enough to drink.”
”I wasn’t thinking about that! Anyways, you think the owner’s still here?”
”Well, um… it’s certainly possible. Why don’t you find out for yourself?”
Accepting Whisper’s proposition, Nate walks closer to the door and puts his ear on it. On the other side, he hears a muffled, but familiar voice coming from the building.
”Whisper, I think she’s actually here.” He says, continuing to listen.
”Really?!” Whisper exclaims, going over to Nate and hearing the owner’s voice.
”Well I’ll be! What is she doing here?”
”You think we can find out?”
”Not right now, Nate. Give it a decade or so, and you’ll legally be allowed in.”
”Eh, a decade’s too long for me. I’m just gonna knock.”
Nate knocks on the door. “Hello? Is anyone there?”
From inside the bar, Ms. Frost stops thinking upon hearing a familiar boy’s voice.
”(Wait, is that the Yo-Kai Watch user I’m hearing?)” She thought to herself, getting up and approaching the door. “(What could he be doing in the back alley? Hopefully nothing dangerous…)”
The door knob turns, and Nate steps back to wait. When the door opens, a brown-haired woman wearing a sky-blue kimono emerges. The very same person that Nate and Whisper saw back when they first visited the snack bar.
“Hey… are you that kid I saw a few nights ago?” She asks, tilting her head to her left.
“Oh, you mean with that guy who was singing a lot? Yeah, I was there to help.” Nate said nonchalantly.
The woman claps her hands together. “You are! I never got a chance to thank you properly. He was messing up the customers’ vibes.”
“No problem! Just happened to be there when it happened. Oh right, my name is Nathan Adams, but I go by Nate.”
”All my customers call me Ms. Frost. Nice to meet you again, Nate!”
“Same to you, Ms. Frost!”
“You know, it’s a good thing you’re here. I’d like your help with something, so please, come inside.”
“Um… okay!”
Ms. Frost lets Nate and Whisper enter the back entrance of Frostia’s Place. Behind the counter, Nate notices some boxes of chips underneath, and on top are a couple of groceries still lying in their bags.
“You finished a shopping trip?” Nate asks as he closes the door behind him.
“Well I thought I did, but as it turns out, I forgot to grab something. Can you be a dear and grab some black syrup for me at the supermarket?” Ms. Frost requests. “I’ll write down directions on where to go from here-“
“There’s no need for that, Ms. Frost! I got plenty of them stashed in my bag!” Nate drops his backpack on the counter and searches for some packets of black syrup. He pulls out a handful and dumps it near the other groceries.
“There we go! A bunch of black syrup!” Nate announces proudly.
Ms. Frost’s eyes widened a bit upon seeing these familiar black syrups in small packets, as she was used to using the jar versions. “Oh my! Are those black syrup packets from Jungle Hunter?” she asks.
“Well, most of them are! Some of them were found on the floor!” Nate answers.
Ms. Frost’s eyelids squint a bit. “T-The floor?” she stammers.
“Oh… do you not like it?”
“I do like it Nate! I just… didn’t think they would be found there. I’ll make do with these.”
“Sweet! Is that all, Ms. Frost?”
“Actually, there’s one more thing I’d like for you to get.”
“I think I would have it in my bag somewhere-“
“It’s not available in stores.”
“Oh, nevermind.”
“Have you ever heard of Refreshing Herbs?”
“Not really. What are they?”
“They’re a secret ingredient for the special drink I give to my customers… to help them “chill out” if they’re ever heated. Huhu!”
”Heh… heh… …Good one.” Nate laughs awkwardly.
“Anyways, they’re located up in Mount Wildwood, near Catfish Pond. Can you grab them for me?”
“Of course! I’ll be back in an hour!” Nate waves goodbye as he and Whisper leave the snack bar, leaving Ms. Frost to wait patiently for her order.
“…An hour, huh? …I wonder what they’re doing in that hour…” She says to herself.
Out of curiosity, Ms. Frost dropped her human form and assumed her Frostina form, a short blue-haired girl wearing a snow-colored cape outside a blue kimono.
“Well, I might as well see for myself!” She says excitedly, exiting the bar and floating in the air.
Following Nate and Whisper around proved to be a bit interesting. On the way to Mount Wildwood, they moved around the entire area of Springdale on bike looking for B-Rank Yo-Kai to fight and befriend. Nate would always groan whenever he couldn’t get a Yo-Kai he wanted to befriend, which while humorous to Ms. Frost, also made her question if he would like to be her friend. This routine of finding Yo-Kai took around half an hour until they finally arrived at Mount Wildwood… to which they made a right and went for the Crank-a-kai.
“How long is this going to take?” Ms. Frost sighs, hiding behind a tree. “It’s almost getting dark… I gotta open soon…”
Thankfully it didn’t take long, and after three cranks with mediocre prizes, Nat and Whisper finally venture to Catfish Pond, where they find their friend Walkappa sitting behind a tree.
“Hey Walkappa! What are you doing here?” Nate asks.
“What up Nate! I’m just sitting here, watching the fish swim as usual.” said Walkappa, gazing in the pond.
“Are you not aware of the dangerous SV Snaggerjag from last time?” Whisper asked, recalling their previous encounter with SV Snaggerjag.
“Nah, he’s cool now. Currently napping at the bottom of the lake and all that. What brings you here?”
“Do you know where we can find something called Refreshing Herbs?” Nate asks.
“Refreshing Herbs? Do you mean those plants that the little girl wearing a blue cloak harvests every now and then?”
“A girl wearing a blue cloak? …Maybe? You know where it is?”
“Uh… I think it’s up the stream on the left side. But uh, there’s a trio of Mad Mountains guarding the area, so you might have to deal with them.”
“Mad Mountains, huh? I’m fairly certain you can take them on, Nate!”
“You betcha! Let’s see what they’re up to!”
Nate and Whisper go around the pond and follow the stream, where they are currently witnessing what appears to be a sumo training session between two Mad Mountains, with the third watching over them as a referee.
So far, it seemed to be an even stand still. However, the left MM decides to break the stalemate by launching a barrage of palm strikes, but the right MM counteracts with a sidestep and his own flurry of strikes, pushing him slightly out of the center.
“Woah, those guys are strong!” Nate admires them as they arrive at the stream.
“It seems they’re likely practicing for a match. And look! Those must be the Refreshing Herbs!”
Whisper points to the patch of grass behind the observing Mad Mountain. However, his astonishment attracts the attention of the brawling Mad Mountains, and the observer walks to the human and ghost butler.
“Who dares trespass in our private training session?!” The Mad Mountain shouts directly in Nate and Whisper’s face.
“We didn’t mean to trespass, Mr. Mad Mountain sir! We just want to harvest those herbs you have behind you!”
“Our most sincere apologies, good sirs.”
“Hrn…” the main Mad Mountain stares down the duo.
”We don’t believe you! C’mon boys, we got some ‘training’ to work on against these fools!”
“Oh crud!”
“Looks like we have no choice but to fight!”
“Alright then, time to call on my friends!”
Nate shines his Yo-Kai Watch and opens the lid, then pulls out three medals.
“Come on out, team! Calling Thornyan, Walkappa and Betterfly!”
One by one, Nate inserts the Yo-Kai Medals and summons the aforementioned Yo-Kai, who looked prepared to fight.
“ *Achoo!* Did you have to summon me like this, nyan?!” said Thornyan, holding back his thorns from erupting.
“Not to worry! With me around, it’ll be all BETTER!” screamed Betterfly, flying around Thornyan to try and heal his cold.
“Dude, you could’ve just asked me to come with you, y’know? I was right there, man…” complained Walkappa, pointing to the spot he was back at Catfish Pond.
“Whoops! Uh, my bad, Walkappa!” Nate apologizes, rubbing the back of his head. “Anyways, go and stop those Mad Mountains!”
“Sure thing, dude!”
“I got your back *sniff* nyan!”
”LET’S DO THIS THING!”
The three summoned Yo-Kai brace themselves for a fight.
“A kappa, a butterfly, and a sick cat… Ha! As if they could stand up to us!” The leading Mad Mountain said, getting into a battle stance.
“We’ll teach you to not mess with our training!”
“Come on!”
- - - - -
“ Thorny Thwacks, Nyan!”
Despite their best defenses, the Mad Mountains all went down thanks to Walkappa’s rapids piercing their defenses and a well-timed Soultimate from Thornyan inspirited by Betterfly.
“WOO! WE DID IT!” Betterfly celebrates.
“Thornyan, my man! Good stuff, dude!” Walkappa dabs up Thornyan firmly.
“Thanks, ny- *Achoo!* Uwah… I’m gonna need to fix this cold again, nyan… Later Nyate…”
“See ya later!”
“BYEEEEE!”
The three Yo-Kai go their separate ways: Thornyan decided to go back to Nate’s house to find some medicine, Walkappa walked back to his spot at Catfish Pond to nap, and Betterfly enthusiastically flew to the deep forest of Mount Wildwood.
“Well, that takes care of that-“
“Hold it!”
The leading Mad Mountain gets up, albeit still covered in spiked bruises, and puts up a fighting stance once more.
“You may have bested my comrades, but I’m not going down so easily!” the Mad Mountain exclaims, stomping his right foot in fury.
“Take thi-Gwah!”
From seemingly out of nowhere, a giant ice ball appears and hits the Mad Mountain leader on the head, knocking him out for good.
“W-what was that?!” Exclaimed Nate, trying to look around for whoever made that ice ball.
“I don’t think we have time to worry right now! Get the herbs quickly before those Mad Mountains wake up and make things worse!” commanded Whisper, looking at the unconscious Mad Mountains.
Going to the spot the Mad Mountains were training in earlier, Nate rummages through the grasses and pulls out the growing herbs.
“Got it!”
“Great, now let’s take it back to Ms. Frost!”
Nate and Whisper leave the Mad Mountains and make their way back to Downtown Springdale. In the distance, standing in the middle of the wooden bridge is Ms. Frost, who launched that giant ice ball to stop the Mad Mountain’s attack.
“Phew! That was close…” she says to herself, panting. “I haven't used my powers for a long time... but I’m really glad I can still pull it off…” She smiles to herself, walking back to the left side of the bridge. …Until she realizes something crucial.
“Oh no, I gotta get back to the bar! Nate’s going to be there any minute now!”
Ms. Frost jumps and flies off immediately to the direction Nate and Whisper are heading. She sees them in the distance, just entering Downtown Springdale via crosswalk.
“Darn it, I’m not gonna make it in time! I gotta speed myself up, fast!”
Ms. Frost turns her body around and uses her ice powers to blow a gust of chilly wind, propelling herself ahead of Nate and Whisper. She stops the wind and dives headfirst into the back of Frostia’s Place, creating another gust of wind to cushion her fall. Finally, she opens the door, assumes her human disguise, and catches her breath after running and flying so hard.
“ *huff* *huff* Made it… Now… *huff* Just act normal…”
After a few seconds, Ms. Frost regains her composure and sits on her stool as if nothing happened. Suddenly, the door opens, and in comes Nate and Whisper.
“We’re back with the herbs!” Exclaimed Nate, holding them in his left hand.
“Oh, you are?” Ms. Frost asks, pretending to be surprised. “Let me see…”
Nate hands over the Refreshing Herbs and Ms. Frost inspects them carefully. After a few seconds, she puts it down on the counter.
“Just as I ordered! Thank you so much!”
“Happy to help, Ms. Frost!”
“I know you traveled a long way for me, so let me give you something in return!”
Ms. Frost puts her right hand into her sleeve and grabs what looks like a silver coin.
“It’s something pretty special to me, and I want you to have it!” she says, offering it to Nate.
“Wow, thank you Ms. Frost!” said Nate, taking the coin. However, the moment he touched it, the coin seemed familiar somehow… Upon looking at it closer, Nate and Whisper gasp in shock.
“Nate! That’s a Yo-Kai Medal!”
“Wait, does that mean…”
“Huhu… Yep! I’m a Yo-Kai known as a Yuki-onna, also known as a Frostina!”
With a puff of smoke, Ms. Frost reveals her Frostina form, which is half the height of her human form.
“I’m a lot cuter like this, right?” she asks, winking and smiling.
”N-no kidding…” Nate replies, still in a state of shock.
“I knew I sensed some kind of aura on you Ms. Frost, but to think you were actually an adorable Yo-Kai in disguise! Your disposition is dramatically different!” Whisper exclaims.
“I’m not sure what you just said Whisper, but I agree! Were you always like this before?”
“Well… only when I’m alone. And talking to other Yo-Kai. Otherwise, I‘m a lot more serious in my human form. Honestly, I’m really glad we’re friends now, Nate, because… I’ve always wondered what the life of a Yo-Kai is like ever since you came here. For the most part, I've always just ignored the Yo-Kai side within me and only made human friends as a human.” she answers, tilting her head to the floor.
"Do you not like being a Yo-Kai, Ms. Frost?" Whisper asks.
"It... has its benefits... but being exposed to a world where some of the actions humans take are not their own is... a bit scary. This is why I opened up this bar, serving Soothing Smoothies. The drinks help purify anyone inspirited by any Yo-Kai ruining their day." She says, pointing to her ingredients.
“I can understand your perspective, Ms. Frost. But I must ask, what happens to the Yo-Kai who were inspiriting the person?” Whisper wonders.
"They get extracted from the person. ...Most of them just leave the store without a care, but some of them go up to me and complain about "ruining their fun" when they were ruining that guy's life! ...I'm sorry, this happened a week ago, so I'm still aggravated from hearing them.”
"Those guys are just jerks, Ms. Frost! You don't have to put up with them!" said Nate.
"But the thing is, I'm in my human form, so they think it's fine to say whatever they want because I can't hear them. Plus, I can't exactly fight back when I'm running a bar, I'd cause a scene and everyone would freak out! ...So I'd like for you to call on me every now and then, so I can learn more about myself and how Yo-Kai live their lives. It'll help managing Frostia's Place a lot easier if you do."
“That’s a very noble goal, Ms. Frost! It’s just like Master Nate‘s own goal of bridging the relationship between humans and Yo-Kai!” Whisper proclaims, gesturing to Nate.
Nate stares at Whisper. “That’s something you wanted me to do ever since we met… still, if it’s help you want, I’d be glad to have you as a part of my fighting team!”
“You mean those three Yo-Kai you summoned to deal with the Mad Mountains?” Ms. Frost asks, tilting her head.
”Well, there's three other members of the team, but I think you'll get along with the others!” Nate encourages.
Ms. Frost's eyebrows frown. ”But... I'm not sure if I can fight like them..."
“That’s just quitter talk, Ms. Frost! After all, you sent that Mad Mountain packing with that ice ball! What you need to do is believe in yourself, and you’ll be a powerhouse just like the rest of Nate’s crew!” Whisper encourages, flexing his arms to make fake muscles.
”Right! And if you ever need any help, we’ll be there to help you train!” Nate adds.
”That’s… really nice of you. Thank you so much!” Ms. Frost beams happily.
”…Oh! But I can’t introduce you to them until later. I gotta meet up with Eddie at his house, and you got that brew to make, right?”
”You’re right! I almost forgot about that again!” exclaimed Ms. Frostina as she assumes her human form again. “I’ll get started right away! Have fun with your friend!”
”Bye Ms. Frost!”
”We bid you adieu!”
Nate and Whisper wave goodbye to their new friend, Ms. Frost, as they close the door to the back entrance. Finally, with all the ingredients at hand, she got to work on the special Soothing Smoothie. As she chopped the blueberries, she wondered if she could ever harness her powers properly with Nate and his friends’ help… Not only that, but what will the Yo-Kai world have to offer that can help her out? All these questions would have to wait for later. For now, it looks like it’s time to open up shop.
Notes:
Next time, Ms. Frost is summoned to help go through an entire Museum at night!

Chapter Text
“Here’s your drink, sir.” said Ms. Frost as she slides it over to a gray haired man wearing an orange shirt.
”Thanks. Needed something to get my mind off my wife’s nagging…”
The man drinks the Soothing Smoothie, and his tired expression fades, bringing energy back within his system. It was only yesterday that the Yo-Kai Watch user Nate had helped Ms. Frost acquire the ingredients for her special brew, restoring the status quo to her bar, which looks as comfy as ever. Most of the customers here come from the Downtown Springdale trading offices after a long day of work, which there is usually… five of them. The rest either stop by at Nom Burger or those Curry and Sukiyaki places, both of which Ms. Frost oddly doesn’t know the names yet. Anyways, business was slow as usual, with all five of the customers already drinking the Soothing Smoothie provided. That is, until Ms. Frost felt a rumbling noise that somehow no one else was being affected by. She then notices a portal appearing above her head that no one else could see, then looks at her phone and feigns a shocked expression.
“Sorry everyone, but I got to close early today. Something just came up and I need to get ready fast.” She says, putting away her phone.
“You got an appointment or something, Ms. Frost?” The middle-seated man asks.
“A friend needs to see me right now. Gotta go!”
She immediately runs to the back entrance and closes the door, ignoring the murmurs from the five usual customers. Outside the back entrance, Ms. Frost hears Nate’s voice coming from the portal above her head.
“Come on out my friend! Calling Frostina!”
“ *sigh* Did he really have to call me in the middle of work?” she complains, changing to her Frostina form. “I didn’t think my first summoning would go like this, but… I might as well go with it.”
The portal comes down on Ms. Frost, and as she was being summoned, she performed a little dance while the charming theme was playing in the background.
Alarming! Boom Boom wadawada dance dance Charming!
“Frostina!” She shouts, putting her hands near her mouth.
“Good to see you, Ms. Frost!” said Nate, waving happily to the summoned Yo-Kai.
“Nate, you know my bar operates at night, right? Why did you summon me while I was working? I had to close the bar early to get here!”
Upon realizing his mistake, Nate’s expression saddens. “Oh… I’m really sorry about that, Ms. Frost.”
“You should be more considerate, Nate. She’s a Yo-Kai out in the human workforce! Think of her own struggles managing Frostia’s Place!” Whisper says, emphasizing his point by exaggerating his movements.
“I get it Whisper, but I thought she’d be a good candidate for this mission!”
“Mission? What are you talking about?”
“Oh, uh, you see…”
Nate and Whisper give a recap of what happened with Eddie to Ms. Frost: After meeting up with him the next morning (Eddie was having dinner after Nate helped Ms. Frost), Eddie gave him tickets to Gourd Pond Museum from his dad. After walking around the exhibits, Eddie then wanted to sneak in at night to try and investigate the rumors involving a haunted piece of armor. At night, they find a mysterious mirror near a bicycle station, and they are instantly transported into the inside of the museum. The mirror in question was a Yo-Kai named Mirapo, who requested his help in dealing with another Yo-Kai messing with the displays and waking up Mirapo in the middle of the night.
“…So that’s why I called you and the team here. I want you guys to help fend off any Yo-Kai that want to fight so Eddie and I could try and find that haunted piece of armor.”
Ms. Frost didn’t take the explanation well, as evident by her pupils shrinking in dread. After a bit, she shakes her head to brush it off and tries to comprehend what she just heard. “Woah woah woah! Hold on! You’re telling me, we’re in Gourd Pond Museum at CLOSING HOURS, and your friend Eddie is trying to disable the security lasers from the front desk of the computer, all so you could help Mirapo deal with a trouble-making Yo-Kai!?!”
“…Uh… …Yeah?” Nate affirms nervously.
“I get you helping people and Yo-Kai, but entering a closed building at night?! I don’t think anyone, much less two kids, should do that at all! What if you trigger the alarm or break something? Then what?!” Ms Frost stares daggers at Nate, who starts to feel ashamed for his actions.
“...Oh.” Nate tilts his head down in silence, tears starting to swell from his eyes. Realizing that Nate’s spirit might’ve been shattered, Whisper floats down to Ms. Frost.
“Ms. Frost, I don’t think you should’ve told him that.” Whisper says in worry.
“Huh?” The Frostina looks up to see Nate silently crying and frowns. “…Oh. Nate, I’m really sorry! I… I didn’t know…”
“All Nate ever wants is for Humans and Yo-Kai to be happy. He’s a good kid, Ms. Frost. He shouldn’t be concerned about any horrible consequences at such a young age.” Whisper calmly states, patting Nate on the back for comfort. “Besides… none of that stuff would happen anyway.”
Ms. Frost glances at Whisper. “…Huh?”
“This place, alongside any other building filled with Yo-Kai, has some kind of mysterious force that stops time from progressing. It also allows for stuff like this!” Whisper goes up to a nearby insect display case and punches it, shattering the entire glass, much to Ms. Frost’s dismay.
“WHISPER?!” She shouts with her dropped jaw. “WHAT THE-“
“Ms. Frost. A moment, if you will.” Whisper holds out his left hand to the Frostina and points to the broken display case with his right. A green glow suddenly emits from the display case, and the broken glass on the floor rises and merges with that glow. When the glow fades, the insect display case becomes whole again, with no signs of Whisper’s act of destruction.
“As you can see, this place MAY look exactly like the museum, but it’s actually part of a pocket dimension. Nothing can be broken in these areas, and if they are, it automatically repairs itself.”
As Whisper smugly finishes explaining, Ms. Frost could only dread from taking in everything she saw tonight. He expects a reply from the Frostina, only to not hear a single peep. The white Yo-Kai then notices Ms. Frost’s uneasy expression.
“…Ms. Frost?” Whisper asks. “Is everything alright?”
“Was… Was I wrong… to worry so much about this?” The Frostina asks meekly.
“Not at all! Those were all valid concerns. It’s just that the world of Yo-Kai is a lot more fantastical than what adults like you and I can comprehend.“
“...You’re right. My… My mind‘s just been all over the place ever since I got here, I… never meant to take it out on you or Nate. I’m sorry.” She bows to Whisper.
“I understand that you were only worried for Nate’s safety, and so am I for that matter. I forgive you.” Whisper smiles somberly.
Ms. Frost smiles back, then turns to Nate, who tuned out most of what Ms. Frost and Whisper had conversed. “Could… could you forgive me too, Nate?”
Nate looks down at Whisper and Ms. Frost. “I’m… I’m sorry too…” He says, slightly bawling.
Ms. Frost changes to her human form and puts her hand on Nate’s head.
“If it’s about summoning me during work, it’s fine. My customers will understand. Just… let me know next time so I can get ready.” She says, brushing Nate’s head in comfort.
“But… but what about being caught and breaking things?”
She stops brushing. “That… was just me not realizing that you’re safe in here, no matter how… dangerous this might seem. I know you’re a good kid, Nate. You would never do any of those things I said. I’m really sorry for putting that in your head.” She bows to Nate.
Nate looks at Ms. Frost’s ashamed expression with his own. Suddenly, he goes up to the serene woman and hugs her, Ms. Frost gasping in surprise. She smiles upon feeling his gentle warmth and she returns his hug in kind. Whisper goes behind Nate and hugs him and Ms. Frost with his extended arms.
“...I forgive you.” Nate says meekly.
“Thank you…” Ms. Frost responds tenderly.
The three break off the hug, and Ms. Frost changes to her Frostina form.
“Are you feeling alright, Master Nate?” Whisper asks.
“Y-yeah. I’m okay now.” Nate responds.
“...Do you want to introduce me to your other friends?”
Upon realizing he forgot he had other Yo-Kai with him, Nate turns to the other five Yo-Kai members watching from afar, who look a bit uneasy from spectating that whole debacle.
“Whoops! …I forgot you guys were there.” he says abashed.
Ms. Frost turns around to where Nate is and realizes they had an audience “...Oh! …Uh, hello? Sorry you had to see all that…” she bows in apology.
“It’s quite alright.” said the silver temple Yo-Kai. “We didn’t want to interrupt anything.”
“ *ahem* So uh, this is the team for tonight. It usually varies between different Yo-Kai, but here is my current lineup:“
Nate steps aside for the five Yo-Kai to appear in front of Ms. Frost.
“First up is Thornyan. He’s been a reliable partner ever since we first met at the intersection.” The green and spiky cat Yo-Kai waves happily to Ms. Frost.
“ *sniff* Nyice to meet ya, nyan!” greets Thornyan.
”Uh, are you doing alright?” asked Ms. Frost, instinctively covering her mouth with her cape.
“ *sniff* Oh, this?“ Thornyan points to his sniffling nose. “Well, every time I get summoned, I always end up catching a cold. I’m nyot normally like this at home, *ACHOO* nyan.” said Thornyan, covering his mouth and thorns.
”O…kay then… Do you… need an ice pack?” asked Ms. Frost, who is forming a bit of ice in her left hand.
”Nyo nyo nyo, I don’t need it right nyow! *sniff* ” said Thornyan, shooing away her offer. “If I get better, I’ll become weaker, nyan.”
“…Huh?” Ms. Frost tilts her head in worry and confusion.
”You see Ms. Frost, Thornyan is more powerful than his original form, Jibanyan, despite what his condition may tell you. He is a B-rank Yo-Kai in comparison to his original D-rank.” Whisper explains.
“So getting sick makes you stronger? That sounds counterintuitive.”
“That’s what I thought at first, nyan! *sniff* But after fighting a couple more times with Nate, I’ve gotten used to this form, nyan.”
“I see… As long as you’re okay with it, I guess.”
Thornyan moves over to reveal the next Yo-Kai, who looks like a purple-winged butterfly with a snazzy blonde haircut. “Next up is Betterfly. She’s a bit eccentric, but her inspirits and healing make her the perfect cleric on the team.” Nate introduces.
“Extremely nice to meet you!” Betterfly greets, hovering around Ms. Frost.
“Nice to meet you too!” said Ms. Frost, trying to follow Betterfly’s movements.
“I can tell you and I are gonna get along extremely well! Us LADIES have to stick together, ya know?!” Betterfly exclaimed loudly, to which Ms. Frost covered her ears in pain.
“Ow! Not so loud…” said Ms. Frost.
“Whoops! Sorry about that! …Is everything better between you and Nate?”
“Yeah, we’re cool.”
“That’s a relief! I wanted to inspirit everyone to make everyone feel better, but it seems you have your own kind of power for that, huh?”
“I’m good with children as well as my customers~”
Betterfly floats to the side to make way for the silver temple Yo-Kai carrying a banner from earlier.
“Next up is Castellius the second. He’s a recent addition to the crew, but his sturdiness makes for a good tank.” said Nate, patting his solid body.
“Castellius the second? Are you part of a long line of Castelluses?”
“Actually, the ”second” part of my name represents the placement I give with my inspirits.” informs Castellius II. “In fact, I used to be two Castellius the thirds, until we combined to form me, with my silver body!” Castellius II waves his banner around and flexes his muscles.
”Wow, that’s pretty cool! (They fused together? Does this mean Nate knows Mr. Zen?)” Ms. Frost thought to herself.
Castellius II hops to the side, and in comes a pink and white puppy wearing a purple kazaori-eboshi riding on a giant red heart. “Now, Betterfly may be our main healer, but Shmoopie does the job well himself! Not only that, his cuteness makes it easier for Yo-Kai to become friends!” said Nate, petting Shmoopie.
“Yeppers! And aren’t you a cute gal?” exclaimed Shmoopie.
“I was thinking the same thing!” exclaimed Ms. Frost. “You’re so adorable! I’m surprised you’re even a boy!”
“Cuteness transcends whatever gender I was back then! I aspire to be my cutest for everyone! (And soon… the world will bow before me…)”
Ms. Frost’s eyes widened for a brief moment upon hearing that last statement. “That’s good to hear! (Everything but that last part, that is…)”
Shmoopie moves over to introduce the last member of the squad, an orange bipedal lion with a fire-looking mane. “Finally, there’s Blazion! He’s one of our main attackers, just like you! Except he uses his fists, he rawrs instead of talks, and he uses fire attacks.”
“Yeah, I think his name speaks for himself…” Ms. Frost replies, an imaginary drop mark appearing near her forehead.
“Rawr Rawr!” Exclaimed Blazion, offering his right hand to Ms. Frost.
“A handshake? Yeah, sure!” Ms. Frost shakes his hand, then realizes that she was making ice on it for Thornyan earlier, and then…
*Krick Krick*
Blazion’s right arm is encased in ice.
“RAWR!!!” Blazion shouts in surprise.
“OH NO! I’m so sorry! I was trying to make an ice pack earlier; I didn‘t mean to freeze your arm!” Ms. Frost apologizes in a panic, bowing rapidly.
“Rawr Rawr Rawr.” Blazion holds his hand out to signify that it’s alright, and punches the ground, shattering the ice. “Rawr. Rawr Rawr!”
“Phew! That’s a relief…”
Blazion offers his hand once again, and Ms. Frost checks her hands to make sure nothing’s forming, then shakes it firmly.
“Here’s to working together.”
“Rawr.”
Blazion joins up with the others and Nate walks up to Ms. Frost.
“So, what do you think of them?” he asks.
“I think they’re a good team, despite some of their quirks.” she smiles. “But uh, just between you and me,” She gestures to Nate to go closer, to which he sits on his knees. “I think Shmoopie is up to no good.” She whispers in Nate’s ear.
“Him? I’m not sure where you’re getting the impression, but uh… I’ll keep that in mind.”
“ *Ahem* Now that you are acquainted with Nate’s battle team, there’s only one more thing left for you to do, Ms. Frost.” said Whisper.
“What is it?”
Nate’s eyes light up upon remembering. “Oh, that’s right! It’s time for you to get an accessory!”
“An accessory? Like jewelry?”
“Kind of. You see, our team of Yo-Kai is equipped with various tools that help increase their strength, speed, spirit, or defense. Mind showing them off, everyone?” asked Whisper.
The five Yo-Kai standing by pulled out something from behind their backs, holding various items in their hand.
“ *sniff* I have a Beefy Bell, nyan.” said Thornyan, ringing it.
“I have a LUNAR RING!” Exclaimed Betterfly, whose gold and black ring appeared in the front of her hair.
“I have a Pwetty Ring!” said Shmoopie, holding out a pink ring with a heart.
“Rawr Rawr!” said Blazion, holding out a Brute Bracer.
“And I hold a Galaxy Charm.” said Castellius II, holding out a purple and yellow charm.
“Oh! So you guys keep them in your hammerspace, and the effects stay active?” Ms. Frost asks.
“Yep. Sadly, we can only hold one item at a time. Thornyan wanted to hold two bells at once, but when he tried to put the other one in his hammerspace, the one he equipped fell out.” Answered Castellius II.
“ *sniff* Imagine if I did, nyan! Nyat would be overpowered!”
“So that’s how it is, huh? What am I getting, Nate?” Ms. Frost asks.
“Well… you mostly use techniques, right?”
“If you mean creating ice, then yeah.”
“I think you should use a ring like Betterfly and Shmoopie! Their spiritual powers increase for extra healing, so I think you’ll have the same effect!”
“Yeah, that makes sense. Whatcha got?”
“Give me a sec.” said Nate as he let go of his backpack and rummaged through it. Ms. Frost heard some unusual sounds while Nate was searching, from a couple of keys to a bicycle bell.
“Aha! Here it is!” Nate beams, pulling out a silver ring with a blue wisp head. He places it in front of Ms. Frost’s hands. “Here you go!”
“Wow…” Ms. Frost admires the ring, then puts it away in her hammerspace, feeling her spiritual power increase… but her body felt a bit weaker. “What were those noises anyway?”
“You mean in my backpack? Well I bring a ton of stuff with me whenever I’m exploring. A couple days ago, my dad gave me this bicycle I’ve always wanted for helping him at work!”
“Oh yeah, I saw that bike! That’s nice of your dad.”
“You wanna see it again? I have it in here if you wanna look.” Nate points to his backpack.
“You… you mean there’s an entire bike in your backpack? How are you able to carry it around?”
“It’s all thanks to me, of course!” Whisper interjects. “You see, this backpack contains a pocket dimension that lets Nate carry anything he wants without having to feel the weight of it all! In my time trapped inside of a capsule, I not only possessed the Yo-Kai Watch with me, but also a nigh-infinite pocket dimension capable of storing anything you could imagine! …With a limited capacity of 99. And when Master Nate freed me, I installed it onto his backpack, and he’s been using it well ever since!”
“Yep! I got a bunch of coins, some extra equipment, even a bunch of food and meat!”
“So you have your OWN pocket dimension in your bag… (How many times am I gonna hear that word?)” Ms. Frost wonders to herself. “Oh, about the food… are they capable of spoiling in there?”
“Well, this pocket dimension preserves the food in whatever state it was at the time it was held before being put in the backpack! For example, if you take a piece of raw chicken thigh and store it in the backpack, when it comes out, it’ll just be as refrigerated as before! In other words, the food is stuck in time inside the backpack, and resumes time when pulled out.”
As Whisper finishes explaining, Ms. Frost’s eyes sparkle in admiration. “…Woah. That would be amazing for my bar! It’s like a portable fridge, but better! You think you could have one installed in Frostia’s Place?”
“Unfortunately, I only brought one with me, so I can’t help you there.”
“…Aw. I guess I’ll just make do.”
“But for now, you’re finally ready to begin your journey as a part of Nate’s Yo-Kai fighting squad!”
“…After 20 minutes of explaining.” Nate says, looking at his watch.
Whisper stares blankly at Nate. “…Regardless, how do you feel?”
“Honestly, I'm a bit nervous… but I’ll do what I can to help!”
“That’s the spirit! Now let’s get going! We can’t let Mirapo down!”
“Yeah!” Everyone chants in unison.
“Nate? Did you find the vault key?” Eddie said from afar.
“Not yet! I was just… talking to myself!” Nate yells to Eddie.
“Let’s uh… let’s just go.” Whisper deadpans.
And so Ms. Frost joins Nate and his other Yo-Kai friends as they begin their exploration of Gourd Pond Museum. Will they manage to find the vault key? What kind of Yo-Kai will they encounter along the way? And what is the fate of those five customers in Frostia’s Place? All these questions and more will be answered next time…
To be continued…

Chapter Text
When we last saw Ms. Frost, she was introduced to Nate’s Yo-Kai Squad, and now they officially began exploring the museum… by jumping into a Mirapo. She was told they work like portals, and it definitely felt like it. She and the others went from one end of a hallway to the front entrance of the museum in an instant, like jumping through hoops. Thornyan took this to heart and decided to repeatedly jump through Mirapo times, pulling off cool poses as he landed on either side. Everyone else but Castellius II and Whisper joined the fun; They wanted to keep a lookout for any approaching Yo-Kai.
“Hehe! That tickles!” said the Mirapos as the five party members gleefully jumped through their bodies.
“Man! This is amazing!” exclaimed Ms. Frost as she jumps through the Mirapo.
“I kynow, right?! *ACHOO* ” Thornyan sneezes and falls face-first into the floor, miraculously keeping his horns from releasing.
“I GOT YOU THORNYAN!” Betterfly yells as she swoops into the Mirapo and heals Thornyan, causing him to move over as everyone else continues jumping.
“Rawr! Rawr!” Blazion grunts as he practices his mid-air punches and kicks when entering the Mirapo.
“Are you sure you don’t want to join us, Castellius?” Shmoopie asks.
Castellius II turns to Shmoopie with his arms crossed. “I cannot. Even though it is tempting, I cannot waste any movement when guarding Nate.” He looks to where Nate was supposed to be, until he notices that he’s gone. “Hey! Where’s Nate?”
The five Yo-Kai jump to where Whisper and Castellius II are to help them look for Nate. “ *gasp* I found him!” Whisper announces and points to Nate talking to a yellow three-eyed dog. “Follow me, everyone!”
Whisper rushes to Nate, with everyone else closely behind. They all screech to a halt to find the 11 year-old getting aggravated by said Yellow Three-eyed dog person.
“Could you stop-“
“Reading your mind? Why would I? You’re the first human I know who can see me. Which makes it all the more entertaining~” The dog person interrupts, smirking.
“You think reading minds is-“
“Funny? Of course it is! Why wouldn't it be when you’re a psychic?”
Nate struggles to come up with a good argument. “Grr…”
“Master Nate! What’s the problem?” Whisper calls Nate as he floats to his side.
“Ugh, Whisper, who is this Yo-Kai?” He says, pointing to the three-eyed dog person.
“Well, it’s obviously not big-headed dog or three-eyed psychic dog…” Whisper says as he scrolls behind his Yo-Kai pad.
“I am Espy of the Mysterious tribe. I’m Rank B and my favorite food is vegetables. Does that help?”
“Why, yes, of course.” Whisper proudly thanks. “...Hey! Explaining Yo-Kai is-”
“Your job?”
“Eh-b-b-Of course it’s my job! You can’t just-”
“Interupt people while they’re talking? Puh-lease! I can do whatever I want~ And there is nothing you. can. do. about it.” Espy taunts, taping her finger on Whisper’s forehead, to which he starts to boil in anger.
“Grr… THAT’S IT! I will not condone this any longer! Move in everyone!” Whisper commands, prompting the Yo-Kai Squad to move in front of Whisper and Nate.
Espy smirks at everyone opposing her. “Oh, so you want a fight, huh? Luckily for me, I got my own crew for that.”
Espy snaps her fingers, and a purple robot wielding a naganata and a yellow oni appears beside her.
“INITIATING COMBAT MODE.” exclaimed the purple robot.
“I’m not here to fight! I just came here to see what all the fuss is about.” said the yellow oni, scratching his chin.
“Woah! It’s a purple Benkei and a yellow Suspicioni! Or are you a yellow Tantroni?” exclaimed Nate, in a bit of awe.
Contrasting that awe, however, are the ticked off faces of the Yo-kai mentioned, Espy and Ms. Frost tilting her head in confusion, and everyone else face-palming and shaking their heads.
“Nate…” he sighs.
“ANGER LEVELS RISING. I AM NOT THAT INFERIOR BENKEI. I AM ONE OF THE SUPERIOR SPECIES, B3NK1.” said B3NK1 as he epicly poses.
“And I’m not your average oni! I am part of the best species of oni, Contrarioni!” exclaimed Contrarioni as he not-so-epicly poses.
“...It seems they’re quite insecure about their identities.” Espy announces, causing the two enemy Yo-Kai to slowly turn towards her. “Honestly, I can’t really blame them. After all, you told them straight to their faces they were recolors.”
B3NK1 and Contrarioni’s bodies are ironically drained of their color.
“Ah! I-I didn’t mean it like that! I’m just saying you guys looked similar to Yo-Kai I’ve already seen before!” Nate stammeringly apologizes.
While Nate tries to explain himself, Ms. Frost looks back at the other Yo-Kai in Nate’s side, who all share a tired expression except for Betterfly, who tries to inspirit the party to make them feel better. “Does… does this happen often?” she asks Whisper.
“Unfortunately…” he responds dejectedly. “You see Ms. Frost, Nate has a habit of comparing Yo-Kai who look very similar to one another and calling them colored versions of the Yo-Kai he met first. He did this with Snotsolong and Duchoo, Mochismo and Minochi, and, uh…”
“Wazzat and Dummkap, nyan! *sniff* ” Thornyan answers.
“Ah, yes, thank you Thornyan! Anyways, half of the Yo-Kai brush off the comparison lightly due to the Yo-Kai themselves understanding that Nate’s a kid, and the other half think of these comparisons as an insult to their pride, such as these two.”
“Isn’t that just being petty?”
“It’s usually the more abrasive ones who think like that.”
Just as Whisper finishes his sentence, a purple and blue swirl appears on top, and Ms. Frost couldn’t see anything other than purple smoke. When it clears, the enemy Yo-Kai stand opposed to Nate and company inside what is supposedly the museum floors, except instead of the display cases around them, a T-Rex skeleton looms behind the enemy Yo-Kai.
“Well, I guess it’s go time!” Nate announces proudly.
“What… what is all this?!” Ms. Frost panics, confused about this whole spectacle.
“Oh! We’re preparing for battle, Ms. Frost.” Nate explains calmly.
“Is *sniff* this your first time *sniff* fighting, nyan?” Thornyan asks the bewildered Frostina.
“Yes, actually! Is this what you guys did when you were fighting Croonger and those Mad Mountains?! Because all I saw were you two and the Yo-Kai just standing still!”
“Ohhhh, so that’s what we look like from someone else’s point of view.” Whisper realizes. “Ms. Frost, we are in what is called a battle pocket dimension.”
“Wait, MORE pocket dimensions?! Is this some kind of inception thing?”
“Well, this dimension is different. It actually comes from the Yo-Kai Watch itself, which lets all of us duke it out against other Yo-Kai!” Whisper mimics a boxing stance and punches the air.
“The Yo-Kai Watch can do that?!” Ms. Frost’s jaw drops.
“Honestly we were just as shocked as you were when this happened the first time, back when Nate fought Buhu with Cadin!”
“Oh yeah! It’s been a while since that happened!” Nate reminisces.
“Wow… I never knew how powerful that Yo-Kai Watch is…”
“I know, right!” Nate agrees happily. “Say, Ms. Frost? You wanna help us out?”
“Really? You want me to fight?” She asks.
“Of course! I wanna see what you can do with my friends!”
Ms. Frost takes a moment to think, and nods. “Um, alright… if you say so.”
“Great! Then I’ll pair you up with Thornyan and Shmoopie!”
“Why those two?”
“That’s because we’re all part of the Charming Tribe!” Shmoopie happily answered.
“That means we *sniff* get a HUGE speed boost *sniff* nyan! In other words, we get to move faster, nyan.” Thornyan clarifies.
“Is… is this also due to the Yo-Kai Watch?”
”If you can’t explain it, it’s probably a Yo-Kai’s fault! …So yes. But first!”
Before Ms. Frost tries to retort, Nate pulls out a bamboo shoot from his bag and blitzes past his Yo-Kai friends to the enemy Yo-Kai. The three are startled by Nate rapidly approaching their location and prepared to defend themselves, but he instead bows to Espy and hands her a bamboo shoot. Espy confusingly takes it and Nate sprints back to his crew.
“W…what was that?” Ms. Frost stammers.
“I gave Espy a bamboo shoot.” Nate responds innocently.
Ms. Frost’s eyelids drooped. “I know you gave her a bamboo shoot. I’m just wondering why you did that!”
“Oh! That’s how I make friends with Yo-Kai!”
“…I’m just gonna stop asking questions before my brain starts to explode again.”
“Welcome to the party, *sniff* nyan.” Thornyan deadpans. “Anyways, let’s finally *sniff* get to work!
“I got your backs, you two!” Shmoopie announces.
“Got it! (Although I’m not sure if you really mean it, Shmoopie…)”
The three Yo-kai step forward to face the three opposing Yo-kai, and upon doing so, a sudden pink aura glows around all of them. Thornyan and Shmoopie are familiar with this sensation, but Ms. Frost wasn’t. In her case, her body starts to feel jittery, like she wants to move around now instead of later.
“Alright everyone, target B3NK1!” Nate orders as he grabs a pin Whisper brings out and throws it at B3NK1.
“Here I go!” Exclaimed Shmoopie as he charges towards the purple cyborg and chomps on him, dealing a bit of damage and immediately backing away for Thornyan to charge in too.
“Me *sniff* nyext!” Thornyan exclaims as he delivers a spiky uppercut onto B3NK1’s face, dealing significant damage as he backs away for Ms. Frost to attack. She gets distracted by her odd pink aura, but notices that no one else is attacking.
“...Oh! Sorry! *ahem* Take this!” She exclaims as she brings her hand out to summon a giant icicle from below that pierces through B3NK1’s body, which finishes him off and causes his body to disappear.
“Nyice one, Ms. Frost!”
“What a finisher!”
“Thanks everyone!” Ms. Frost thanks abashedly.
Meanwhile on the other side, Espy’s and Contrarioni’s eyes widen in fear upon witnessing their ally go down right off the bat. “Oh no! Those guys defeated a B3NK1 already! That must mean they’re our allies!” Contrarioni confusingly concludes, leaving Espy baffled.
“What the- are you even hearing yourself?!” Espy yells in confusion.
“I am! And I’m telling myself that I’m the enemy, so take this, me! YAH!” Contrarioni punches himself in the eye just because. “Ow! Ow! This doesn’t hurt one bit!”
“ *sigh* I’m surrounded by idiots.” Espy just sighs in annoyance. Being literally the ONLY Yo-Kai capable of fighting, Espy begins to perform an inspirit. “Hm… I’ll target that Ms. Frost girl… she seems easy enough to deal with!” Espy launches a purple aura onto the unsuspecting Ms. Frost, which not only mixes with the current pink aura, but also causes a bit of discomfort onto the Frostina.
“Ngh! W-what is this…” Ms Frost grunts in a bit of pain.
Whisper’s eyes widened in response. “Egads! Ms. Frost! You’ve been inspirited! Nate, get her over here so we can purify her!”
“On it!” said Nate, who rushes over to Ms. Frost, grabs her hand, and runs with her to Whisper. “Blazion, take over for Ms. Frost!”
“Rawr rawr!” Exclaimed Blazion as he runs over to help Thornyan and Shmoopie clash against Espy and Contrarioni.
At the same time, Nate finishes bringing Ms. Frost to Whisper and the other standby Yo-Kai, who are unsettled by their new recruit’s first negative inspirit. “Don’t worry Ms. Frost, we’ll have you back in the field in no time!” said Whisper as he pulls out his coveted Yo-Kai pad and opens the purify app while Nate opens his Yo-Kai Watch, puts Ms. Frost’s medal inside, and points the lens and blue light onto Ms. Frost. The image shown to Nate and Whisper depicts Ms. Frost trapped in some sort of purple bubble.
“N-Nate…? W-whisper…? W-what are you doing?” She asks weakly as Whisper is rapidly tapping the screen on the Yo-Kai Pad while Nate does the same thing but on the Yo-Kai Watch itself.
”Why we’re purifying you from your inspirit, of course!” Whisper answers while Nate concentrates . After a few more seconds, they both stop, and Ms. Frost could no longer feel Espy’s inspirit weigh her down. “All done!”
Ms. Frost checks herself to see if the aura’s out, and to her surprise, it worked. ”Wow! I feel so much better now!” She beams happily.
“Glad to hear it, Ms. Frost! My finger’s starting to get sore from all that tapping…” Nate complains as he massages his right index finger.
“You and me both, Nate…” Whisper agrees, doing the same thing. “At least that’s the only inspirit we have to purify.” He points to the battlefield, where Blazion punches Contrarioni in the top eye, knocking him down. He disappears in a cloud of smoke, leaving Nate’s group the victor.
“They won already?” Ms. Frost asks.
“It seems they did.” Castellius II confirms.
“THAT’S HOW OUR FIGHTS USUALLY GO!” Betterfly yells enthusiastically.
The three battling Yo-Kai return to Nate’s side, and everyone high-fives each other for a job well done. Ms. Frost in particular beamed whenever she high-fived someone, but made sure to check her hands to avoid another Blazion incident. In the midst of their celebration, Espy suddenly appears in front of Nate, making the Yo-Kai stop what they were doing to observe.
“Espy?” Nate asks.
The three-eyed dog Yo-Kai bows to Nate. “I wanted to thank you for giving me that bamboo shoot before the battle. And I also want to apologize for bugging you earlier. I can’t control my mind-reading, y’know?”
“That’s okay, but I think you should control HOW you react to reading people’s thoughts. Let them speak their mind, even though you‘ll already know what they’ll say!”
“Hm… I‘ll consider it. But not before I predict one more thing…” Espy closes her eyes for a bit and then opens them. “You want me to become friends with you, am I right?”
“Yep!”
“Then I accept.” Espy bows her head, and a soft light-blue glow emanates from her body. A Yo-Kai medal forms out of her head and it pops out onto Nate’s hands.
“Thank you, Espy!”
“May we meet again.” Espy disappears from the battle dimension, which begins to disperse, transporting Nate and his Yo-Kai friends back into the left side of the Museum where the display cases are. Nate then pulls out his medallion and puts Espy’s medal into the glowing spot.
“All right! First friend in the museum!“
“Well done, Nate!” Whisper compliments.
“I’ve never seen Yo-Kai make friends with you like that!” Ms. Frost says in awe. “…Is this supposed to be the normal way?”
“Yep! Either he seeks them out, *sniff* or they do, nyan!” Thornyan replies.
“That’s how he gets us to join! I ate a scrumptious Nom Burger Nate fed me!” Shmoopie adds on, his mouth starting to drool a bit.
“This… this will take getting used to.”
“Alright everyone, let’s keep going!” Nate calls to the group.
With her first battle as a Yo-Kai concluded, Ms. Frost continues assisting Nate, Whisper, and his Yo-Kai battle squad as they jump through the Mirapo to their next destination. Battles to be fought, Yo-Kai to meet, and questions to be absurdly answered await the Frostina bartender as the journey continues.
To be continued…
Notes:
Next time, the entire museum gets explored, and the remaining Yo-Kai in the museum are introduced!
Chapter 4: Night at the Haunted Museum Part 3: Gotta Befriend Them All
Summary:
Ms. Frost continues to help Nate fight off the hostile Yo-Kai roaming the Gourd Pond Museum. Along with that, she gets to realize how so much of Nate's adventures with Yo-Kai draw parallel to the games her friend and Nate play, Yo-Lo Watch. Also, a bit more lore dump with some Yo-Kai.

Chapter Text
“My word, is that another Castelius the second?!” Castelius II exclaims, pointing to his doppelgänger off in the distance. Everyone turns to the direction the silver temple is facing.
“Woah, you’re right!” Nate affirms. “*gasp* Does this mean we can get a Castelius the first if he’s friends with us?!”
“That would be the natural point of progression, yes.” said Whisper, scrolling through the Yo-Kai pad. He looks up “Castelius I” and finds the golden version of Castelius II, then he shows it to Nate, who observes in amazement.
“Awesome…” Nate says, starry-eyed. “Alright! I’m coming for you, other Castelius! YAAAAAAAAAAAA-“
Nate sprints and screams to the other Castelius II, who looks horrifically disturbed upon seeing an 11-year old human boy rapidly approaching their location in a local museum in the middle of the night. Upon Nate colliding with the other Castelius II, time freezes and the same purple and blue swirl appears above the ceiling, spewing out purple smoke. This… is the routine Ms. Frost has to go through as a Frostina. After that first battle against Espy, she has quickly gotten the hang of fighting with her team. The Frostina Bartender mostly summons ice spikes to attack, and in the event anyone gets too close, she can slap the enemy Yo-Kai silly to keep them away. She usually lands them every time she dodges, which happens a lot thanks to the speed boost. The smoke clears up, and everyone appears in the Gourd Pond Museum arena with Nate and his Yo-Kai friends against two Castelius II and a Badude.
“Goodness, it’s a tough-tribe gang!”
”Plus, there’s two Casteliuses, nyan! *sniff* Which one are you going for, Nyate?”
”Doesn’t matter, but I’ll go to the middle one anyway!”
Nate pulls out a bottle of Amazing Milk and zooms to the middle Castelius II, hands it to him, then runs back.
Shmoopie leads with a chomp on the middle Castelius II, which didn’t really do much due to its metallic body.
Thornyan follows up with a straight on the silver temple’s nose, which stumbled it for a bit.
Finally, Ms. Frost finishes with another giant icicle, which pierces through Castelius II, but it smirks confidently even after that.
“What?!” she responds in shock. “How is it still standing?”
”Whisper?”
”It’s Silver Guard, Ms. Frost. My skill reduces attacks from fire and ice attacks. Like yours.”
“So my ice attacks won’t work?”
”It still does, it’s just not as strong as before.”
”Brace for impact, nyan!” Thornyan commands as the middle Castelius spun and socked him on the head.
”Uh oh!” said Shmoopie right as the left Castelius did the same thing to him.
“It’s only you, girlie! Yah!” the Badude swings his club at Ms. Frost, knocking her down face up.
”Grr…” she grunts, slowly getting up. “You’ll pay for this…”
“Ms. Frost! Switch with our Castelius! Shmoopie, switch with Betterfly!”
”Nate, wait!” she halts the ten-year old. “…This guy is mine.” she says venomously, pointing to Badude.
Nate’s face contorts in worry. “A…Are you sure?”
She glares at Badude. ”He hit my face. He deserves to freeze.”
”Uh… alright? Thornyan, switch with our Castelius instead.”
Thornyan high-fives Castelius II as they switch, and Shmoopie and Betterfly do the same thing. Betterfly heals Ms. Frost, and in turn, she immediately summons ice to cover Badude. It freezes the rebellious Yo-Kai, and once the ice shatters, he falls and his form disappears.
“*phew* Alright, tag me out.” she says coldly, high-fiving Blazion to tag him in. Unfortunately, her hand is still icy, causing the fire lion’s right arm to freeze once again.
”Rawr?!” Blazion shouts in surprise, causing Ms. Frost to notice her mistake.
”Gah! Oh no! Not again!” She panics in response. But Blazion simply punches the ground again and gives a thumbs up, relieving the Frostina from stress. He then charges into battle, leaving her to sit next to the other charming tribe members in the safe area, who notice that the air seems to be a bit colder than usual.
“*ACHOO* *sniff* A-are you okay, M-Ms. Frost?” Thornyan asks, shivering slightly.
“You’re m-making us kinda cold…” Shmoopie adds, prompting the Frostina to look down to see some mist emitting from her body.
”O-Oh. Sorry.” She says, the mist disappearing. “I wasn’t myself earlier.”
“It’s alright, nyan. *sniff* Most of us were like you back then, nyan. Mostly battle-hungry and what not. *sniff*”
“I suppose…”
The battle ends afterwards, and everyone high-fives each other for another job well done. Ms. Frost then notices a bright-blue aura appearing underneath her, and it fades. Whisper smiles upon noticing this.
“Congratulations Ms. Frost, you have leveled up to level 25!” He says, clapping enthusiastically.
“Level 25?”
“Allow me to explain. *ahem* Whenever a Yo-Kai gives a Yo-Kai Watch user their medal, it gives the user access to the Yo-Kai’s internal stats. At the center of them all is their level, which is determined by their Strength, Spirit, Defense, and Speed like I mentioned earlier!”
“So… it’s like an RPG! And I assume we also gain experience points for each battle, right?”
”Yep! You know about RPGs, Ms. Frost?”
”Well, I know a friend who plays Yolo-Watch, and the mechanics Whisper is describing are awfully similar to them.”
”Dude, Yolo-Watch is a classic! I’ve been watching a walkthrough of the game from this guy called Adolla Smush, and it’s pretty fun! Speaking of, is the other Castellius gonna come by, or…”
The arena fades, and everyone returns to the same spot in the museum, bumming out Nate.
”Dang it! Just wasted some good milk!”
”Do not fret, Nate. I can wait for my improved visage.” said Castelius II. “But wait, what’s that over there?!”
The silver temple points to two more of his kind standing around, and Nate’s eyes begin to sparkle intensely.
”*huge gasp* YOOOOOOOOOOOOO-“
Nate sprints off to the next Castelius II, with his Yo-Kai friends following suit.
”*sigh* Here we go again…” Ms. Frost sighs, getting ready to fight once more.
———-
“Your group is formidable. Allow me to become your ally!”
”Finally! …I mean, sure thing!”
The enemy Castelius II flips his medal to Nate, and he vanishes from the arena.
“At last! As soon as we’re done, my power shall grow!” Castelius II raises his banner in triumph.
“WOOO! Awesome!” Betterfly exclaims.
”That took a while, nyan… *sniff*” Thornyan complains, scratching the back of his head. “But… aren’t we supposed to find keys to something, nyan?”
”Hm…” Whisper looks at his Yo-Kai pad and goes to his reminder page. “Right! We’re supposed to find the vault keys for that storage room!”
“Crud! You’re right! How long have we been wandering around for?!” Nate asks.
“…15 minutes. At least we’ve befriended every Yo-Kai within the first floor. Let’s move on to the second!“
“Over here, guys!” A nearby Mirapo calls out to the group. “This should lead to the stairs!”
Nate and his Yo-Kai friends all jump inside the Mirapo, and on the other side lies the stairs, blocked off by security lasers.
“Uh oh. These lasers are blocking the way to the stairs.” Nate says, stating the obvious.
”Well that’s unfortunate. I don’t suppose Eddie has disabled the security here yet, has he?” Whisper asks Nate.
”Let me check up on him!” He says to Whisper, walking to the information booth where Eddie is working his hacking magic. “Hey Eddie!”
”Nate?!” He exclaims in shock. “Jeez, you startled me.”
”Sorry about that! I took a look around, and the key’s not on the first floor! How’s your hacking going?”
”Actually, I’m almost done with the lasers! I just need to find the settings and… Bingo!” Nate hears a key being pressed, and the lasers leading to the second floor are disabled. He sees Eddie get up behind him to look at his results. “You should be all good to go!” Eddie gives a thumbs-up to Nate.
”Thanks a lot, Eddie!” Nate gives a thumbs-up back.
”Now I just gotta disable the lasers to the vault door.” Eddie says, pointing to the guarded metal door on his right. “Good luck out there, bro!”
”You too, man!” Nate and Eddie separate, with Eddie going back to the computer and Nate regrouping with his Yo-Kai friends.
”Alright guys, before we head to the second floor, there’s some chests I wanna grab first. While I do that, you guys head to the Eyepo to heal. Got it?”
Everyone but Ms. Frost affirms they got it. “What’s an Eyepo?” she asks.
”We’ll show you, Ms. Frost.” Whisper answers as he follows the other Yo-Kai, with Ms. Frost not too far behind. They pass through the disabled lasers to find a teal flame with an eye lurking to the right of the main entrance. “Ms. Frost, allow me to introduce you to Eyepo. He’s responsible for healing our wounds if we’re ever hurt in battle! Plus, he helps Nate switch out Yo-Kai from his collection!”
”Aye! Nice to meet you!” The flame telepathically greets to Ms. Frost.
”Nice to meet you too! …Does he appear in every location with Yo-Kai around?”
“Usually at the front entrance. Each Eyepo is actually a different one, just like all the Mirapos in the museum!”
”I see…”
”Alright, I’m back!” Nate announces to the group, holding two items in his hands.
”What did you get, Nate?”
”A Staminum Alpha and a Medium Exporb!” He says, putting away the Staminum Alpha. “Which speaking of…” He goes up to Ms. Frost and hands the blue orb to her. “Here!”
”What… what do you want me to do with this?” She asks the 11-year old.
”Touch it! It’ll give you some experience!”
”If it’s like Yo-lo Watch, then…” She touches the orb, then visions of Nate’s past battles flow within her mind. Her vision gets a bit blurry, then she shakes her head and notes that the orb is gone from Nate’s hand. “Woah… What did I just witness?”
”Our previous battles, *sniff* nyan.” Thornyan answers. “Although it’s mostly from my perspective, nyan, since *sniff* I’m the oldest Yo-Kai here.”
”Ah, gotcha.”
”Anyways, it’s healing time, nyan!”
Thornyan goes up to Eyepo and touches his flame. A green glow just like the one from the display case emits from Thornyan, and the blue flame from Eyepo turns green as well. The thorny cat sighs in relief as the glow subsides, alongside Eyepo’s color change. The rest of the Yo-Kai follow suit, with Ms. Frost being the last one to try it. The feeling is the same as when Shmoopie heals her, but in a more pleasant way.
”And now, let me just save…” Nate says, pulling out a diary and pencil and writing down something on there next to Eyepo, then putting it away. “Alright, second floor time!”
The Yo-Kai crew follow Nate up the stairs to the second floor of the museum. However, as Ms. Frost makes it up last, she hears some malicious cackling echoing through the walls.
“Kehkehkeh… You… your youth… Give it to me…”
“Hm?! Who said that?!” Ms. Frost frantically looks around, preparing an attack.
“Ms. Frost? Is something wrong?” Nate asks.
”I… I think I heard a voice…”
“Is it another Yo-Kai?”
”Probably…?“
Nate looks around in worry, with the other Yo-Kai following suit. They keep their ears open for any voices other than their own… until Castelius II opens his eyes and points to something.
”Aha! There’s a bunch of cackles coming from that group of inconspicuously shaped vases!” He announces, pointing to the group of inconspicuously shaped vases.
“I want… all of your YOUTH!” The middle inconspicuously shaped vase bursts open, revealing a brown, wrinkly Yo-Kai wielding a brown staff with a face and wearing ragged, gray robes. The same exact shape as the inconspicuously shaped vase.
“Oh no, it’s a wrinkly granny!” Nate exclaims in surprise.
“That’s no wrinkly granny, Nate, that’s… uh…” Whisper sneakily pulls out his Yo-Kai pad and searches up the Yo-Kai. “Not Youth-Witch or anything…” “Aha! This is the Yo-Kai Grumples from the Eerie tribe! She’s obsessed with stealing other people’s youth for herself, and her favorite food is milk! Nate, you don’t have her medal yet, do you?”
“I guess not… Although I’m not sure if I ever need it…”
“…What?! How dare you think I’m unworthy! I’ll teach you young'uns to respect yer elders! Get ‘em, other grannies!”
Two more Grumples burst out from the remaining group of inconspicuously shaped vases, and the usual purple smoke covers everyone’s eyes.
—-
“Hyah!” Ms. Frost exclaims, summoning an ice spike to finish off the last Grumples.
“Nyice work, *sniff* Ms. Frost!” Thornyan compliments.
”Thanks! …Although I don’t think I wanna fight someone like her again…”
”Is it because that will be you in the future?” Shmoopie brutally asks.
”Shmoopie?!” Whisper gasps.
”No way! I’m a human with Yo-Kai powers! I’m keeping my gorgeous looks forever!” She replies, brushing her hair sassily. “…The same can’t be said for my other friends, however…”
”Oh… I get it.” Whisper nods. ”
As Whisper was about to explain what he means, a Grumples suddenly appears before the group.
“Your group has such delicious youth!” She says in a nasally voice. “Plus, this milk you gave me…” The Grumples drinks the Amazing Milk Nate gave her. “It’s divine~” Her voice suddenly shifts to a more youthful one, then she coughs back to her raspy voice. “Take me with you!”
”Uh… of course.” Nate agrees, to which the Grumples hands him her medal, then she disappears from the arena.
”…Did anyone else hear a young woman’s voice coming from that Grumples?” Shmoopie asks the group.
“Finally, someone said it!” Ms. Frost exclaims.
”I WAS WONDERING THAT TOO!” Betterfly screams out.
”I think it’s because of the milk.” Castelius II theorizes. “It did wonders to my vocal cords back when I was Castelius III, so I think it did the same to her!”
”That’s a good point, Castelius!” Whisper gives a thumbs-up to the silver temple. “I’ll have to look over Grumples’ stats after this, but for now-“
“*gasp* Whisper, look!” Nate yells from the other side of a Mirapo to the group’s left.
“Hm?” Whisper and the others enter the Mirapo, join up with Nate, and look over to the direction he’s shouting in.
“Over there! It’s a Rattelle, but with pink hair!” He points to what looks to be a Rattelle but with different colors staring at a giant star wielding a blue mask.
Whisper’s eyes narrow upon seeing her at first, then widens upon realization. “That is no Rattelle Nate! This Yo-Kai prefers to be called… uh…” Whisper quickly scrolls through the Yo-Kai Wiki. “Skelebella! And get this, it’s a rare Yo-Kai!”
”Woah, a rare Yo-Kai?!” Nate shouts in surprise.
“What’s the difference?” Ms. Frost comes up and asks.
“You see Ms. Frost, rare Yo-Kai are palette-swapped versions of other Yo-Kai, with similar to differing effects! They are harder to find than regular Yo-Kai, so it’s just our luck that we managed to find one here!” Whisper announces.
”So it’s just like… Yo-lo… Watch… Okay, I’m starting to think Yo-lo Watch is some kind of parallel universe, because there is NO WAY all the mechanics in that game are, strangely enough, EXACTLY the same as what Yo-Kai have to go through in their lives…” Ms. Frost contemplates.
“Weird, right?” Nate notes. “And just like Yo-lo Watch, I know exactly how to approach the situation.” Nate smiles, preparing a running start.
Ms. Frost glances at Nate. “Nate? What are you-“
*WHOOSH*
“SKELLLLLLEEEEBELLLLLAAAAA!” Nate screams as he sprints to the now suspecting Skelebella, whose jaw dropped when she hears a 10-year old average boy locking on to her exact location.
“What the-“
The skeleton Yo-Kai had no time to react as she engages with the eleven-year old’s Yo-Kai team with her Rattella buddies. But before she could say anything else, the same boy runs up to her with a big nom burger and offers it to her. She reluctantly grabs it and he immediately runs back to his team. Her jaw unhinges, and she stuffs the burger into her body, then reattaches it.
“OMG, Yum!” She says gleefully, before being punched in the face by a green cat with spikes.
—-
The fight ends easily, but Skelebella does NOT appear to Nate and his friends, frustrating Nate.
”Dang it!” He says, stomping his foot angrily. “Okay, I only got a couple of burgers left. I gotta make this count!” Nate pulls out the Staminum Alpha from earlier and drinks it. “Alright guys. Let me know when Skelebella appears again!” He tells the group before running to the Mirapo that leads to the stairs and then running up and down said stairs repeatedly.
“So Ms. Frost, if everything the Yo-Kai world does matches this Yo-lo Watch game, then can you explain what Nate is doing with the stairs?” Whisper asks the Frostina while looking through the Mirapo.
”You don’t know?” She asks back.
”I do. I just wonder if you know yourself.”
”Well, there’s this method my friend does when hunting rare Lo-mais by constantly going in and out of a specific location where they originally appeared… So I assume this is the same thing, except we also play the role of the eyes?”
”Exactly right!” Whisper affirms.
“SHE’S HERE!” Betterfly shouts to Nate, who jumps through the Mirapo, zooms past his Yo-Kai friends, and runs straight into the bewildered Skelebella, initiating another fight. Nate and his team wins the fight, but Skelebella doesn’t appear again, so Nate goes back to running back and forth.
“Anyways… how long do you think this is gonna take?” Ms. Frost asks.
“Well, whenever Nyate gets like this, nyan, *sniff* It would take around like 10 minutes to half an hour depending on his luck. *sniff*” said Thornyan.
“That long, huh? …Say, you guys wanna look for the key in the meantime?” She proposes to the party. “I mean, Nate only needs three of us to fight the Skelebella, so the rest of us can look around the second floor.”
“A sound idea Ms. Frost!” Whisper agrees. “If that is the case, then I propose that Shmoopie, Thornyan, and Blazion stay with Nate, while everyone else looks for the key.”
“I got nyo complaints here, *sniff* nyan!” said Thornyan.
“Makes sense to me!” Shmoopie added.
“Rawr rawr!” Blazion roars.
“Alright! Castelius II. Betterfly. You’re with me!” Ms. Frost announces to the two remaining Yo-Kai.
“WOOOOO! TEAMWORK!” Betterfly exclaims happily.
“Very well.” Castelius II firmly nods.
Ms. Frost leads the two fusion Yo-Kai to the remainder of the right second floor, which are full of psychedelic intrigue, like eyes with spirals, abstract paintings, and what appears to be some kind of purple poop with blue spikes in the corner. Oddly enough, the Yo-Kai that were supposed to be wandering around actually joined up with the other three lookout Yo-Kai as they are intrigued upon Nate’s bizarre actions.
“Woah! They’re all just… watching him run up and down?” Ms. Frost notes to the other two.
“You’d be surprised just how many Yo-Kai do that whenever Nate’s not looking at them!” Betterfly announces in a normal manner.
“Makes it all the easier to search.” Castelius II adds, and so the three began searching around while everyone else was distracted. While they search, Ms. Frost brings up a question she’d had about the two.
“So… I heard you two are fusion Yo-Kai?”
“Yep!” “Mhm.”
“By chance, did a Mr. Zen ever help you with the fusion process?”
“Oh yeah, that old man at Blossom Heights’ temple! He’s responsible for making me BETTER!” Betterfly exclaims happily.
“And soon, he’ll help me achieve an even greater power!” Castelius II dramatically raises his banner in emphasis. “…Why do you ask?”
“Well, Mr. Zen’s an old friend of mine. He helped me manage the struggles of being both a Yo-Kai and a human being alongside Mr. Goodman and Mr. Barton. Do you know them too?” She asks.
“Sadly, we only know Mr. Zen. But I’m sure Nate and Whisper have met them before. You could probably ask them once the mission’s done.” Castelius II answers.
“Sure, I’ll keep that in mind. While we’re on the subject of fusion… What were you two like before?”
“I’m sure you’ve heard this already, but I used to be two Castelius III. Nate wanted to befriend the both of us in Downtown Springdale’s Construction Site when he heard from Whisper we can fuse with one another. So he seeked us out, and the rest is history.” Castelius II explains.
“My story is similar to Castelius, except instead of the exact same Yo-Kai, I was an Enerfly and Enefly back then, and they were pretty similar in appearance!”
“What’s the difference?”
“Enerfly‘s inspirit makes people do tasks at their absolute best when he’s around, while Enefly’s inspirit makes friends associated with the inspirited target refuse to acknowledge them as long as he stays with his target!”
“Those are some drastic differences there!“ Ms. Frost comments on the absurdity, then recalls a peculiar moment within Betterfly’s story. “…Wait. ‘He’? ‘His’? I thought you said you were a girl, Betterfly!”
“I AM A GIRL!” She yells defensively.
“Okay, okay! I’m sorry I said that! I’m just… confused as to how two male butterfly Yo-Kai make a large, female one.”
“Well… I’ve never really thought of that before.” Betterfly says, as she flies gently to Ms. Frost. “Then again, I just want to make people do their best, so… It is what it is, I guess! Fusion’s sometimes weird, but I’m happy just the way I am, regardless of how I was in the past!”
“I suppose I was just looking at it too deeply then… In any rate, did you two find anything yet?”
“Nothing on top!”
“Nothing around the displays either.”
“Hey, uh… Are you three looking for something?” A Mirapo asks the three Yo-Kai, and they all gather to its location.
“We’re looking for a vault key for the door downstairs, do you-“ Ms. Frost was about to ask before peering inside the mirror and noticing a lone plant on the other side with a yellow glow being emitted from the base of the pot. “Never mind!” She jumps through the Mirapo and examines the yellow glow. Upon closer inspection, the glow is revealed to be a silver key with a green tag that reads “Gourd Pond Museum Vault”.
“I found the key!” She calls out to the others from the Mirapo, later crossing it and showing it off to Betterfly and Castelius II.
“Well done, Ms. Frost!” Castelius II affirms.
“Quick! Let’s give it to Nate!” Betterfly orders, flying to Nate in a hurry, with the remaining two following closely behind. When they regrouped with Nate, they see him panting hard, holding what appears to be Skelebella’s medal.
“F…Finally…!” Nate barely makes out, holding up Skelebella’s medal victoriously. “After… 22 tries!”
“Well, uh… well… done… Nate.” Whisper hesitantly affirms. “You uh… you wanna take a break?”
“Not… *huff* not yet! Still… gotta help Eddie!”
“If you’re still raring to go after that…” Whisper then notices the three other Yo-Kai looking up to him. “How’d your search go?”
“We got the key!” Ms. Frost announces and shows off the key to Whisper, who grabs it and gives it to Nate.
“Sweet…”
“Nyate finally got Skelebella *sniff* nyan… but at the cost of his stamina…”
“NOT TO WORRY! I’LL MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER!” Betterfly yells, inspiriting Nate. His energy instantly replenishes, and he returns to normal.
“Woo! I feel great again!” Nate announces, pumping up his fists. “Thanks a lot, Betterfly!”
“HAPPY TO HELP!”
“Alright everyone! Now that we got the key, it’s time to unlock that door! Let’s go!”
Nate and his crew backtracked to the front of the museum entrance, where Eddie is still typing on the main computer.
“Just gotta get this in, and… done!” He says, pressing the enter key. The rest of the lasers disappear after that, leaving the entire museum unsecured from potential robbers.
“Alright, Eddie!” Nate affirms.
“Nate, you’re back!”
“Yep! And with the vault key too!”
“Cool! I just finished disarming the security system. Now we can finally find that suit of armor! You ready to go?”
“Hecks yeah, man! Let’s go!”
Eddie jumps out of the information center and walks with Nate (along with his invisible Yo-Kai friends) to the vault door. What will await the two and the Yo-Kai inside that vault? If Ms. Frost suspects what she thinks she suspects, then what’s inside would potentially be a boss fight! Is she right? Tune in next time as Ms. Frost gets to experience her first ever boss fight! …Okay, so it is a boss fight. Never mind all that suspense then.
To be continued…
