Chapter Text
Claire François was the beautiful, elegant and delightful heiress to the François House one of the oldest royal houses in the kingdom of Bauer. Her future had been decided for her since she was four years old she attended the most prestigious Royal Magic Academy alongside her destined fiancé Thane Bauer the second son and spare heir to the throne.
During her time at the Royal Academy Claire was labelled as a miscreant the live Portrayal of a villainess mostly antagonising and swaying most girls away from Thane which worked a little too well since her only friends were Pepi Barlier and Loretta Kugret whom now served as her ladies in waiting.
Surfice to say Claire François had it all besides her stunning beauty there was her brilliant intelligence too and her charismatic personality she was popular both in her royal social circles and out well liked by the common folk and despised by her rivals. There was truly nothing out of her means she had the finest of everything from clothes to jewels and anything she could want in-between including men asking for her hand in marriage multiple times.
Life was picture perfect and entertaining enough until the build up to her wedding to Prince Thane Bauer they had met a handful of times after graduating from the Royal Academy six years ago. The only reason their nuptials were postponed for so long was due to Thane having to serve four years in the military and another two as Major a title he was gifted to by the King and his father King L' Ausseil upon the public announcement of his engagement. His brother Rod Bauer and current heir held the title of General and was a good year older than Thane though had no solid romantic endeavours nor plans to take a wife and Queen as yet he took his career as head of the military more seriously than becoming King and producing the next line of heirs. If this kept up eventually the title would pass over to Thane the quicker he married the better it was for him winning the power struggle.
Tonight was the night that a massive event was held in the Capital just outside the grounds of the Palace everyone who was important would be attending and the François's were at the forefront. It was a special occasion marking Prince Thane's return to the kingdom and his reintroduction into society unfortunately although he was popular with the women the same couldn't be said with the men.
A pole was conducted amongst the citizens and many still favoured Rod the demographic being male that admired his commitment and ethics to duty and his country. As it stood Thane would have to gain more popularity especially amongst the men whom felt he wasn't fit enough to lead it was the reason he was sent away for an additional two years as the Major to try and sway public opinion.
Claire missed him although they hadn't spent much time together after their Academy days it was a lonely six years with only Pepi and Loretta for company and the privilege that was alloted to them by Claire was worse. They made the worse mistakes and decisions out of all her staff though she covered for them time and time again.
Besides Pepi and Loretta there was also her head maid and best Friend Lene Aurousseau she was in charge of running Claire's entire day to day affairs from meetings to diplomatic engagements to her shopping, meals and bedtime schedule. Lene was Claire's support system without her there would be no order or peace in general in the François boudoir.
Lene helped Claire get ready for the event she wore an elegant charcoal styled flared dress with what was called glitter it was the current trend along with smokey eyeshadow and thick eyeliner. Lene finally finished up with Claire and dashed off to herself dressed she along with Pepi and Loretta were accompanying her tonight they wanted to make it a girls night at the same time.
Once Lene left the room Claire took out a royal red ring box from a secret compartment in her vanity she opened it and fawned at the engagement ring. It was white gold with a massive diamond on top encrusted with more diamonds all around it. Tacky and over the top was an understatement to this monstrosity of an engagement ring she absolutely hated it though she would have to wear it tonight none the less.
