Work Text:
Yeon Sieun is a vampire. Yes, that's right.. A pale, short, watery eyed, blood sucking vampire. Though, he hasn't had human blood since he began feeding himself. It was a conscious decision of his own to avoid human blood. He used to have many human friends, it would feel weird if he drank from his friends' kind.
He doesn't have any friends anymore.
His Mother left a long time ago, barely catching up with him every now and then at an expensive restaurant. She ate the food and Sieun watched her, knowing that she was to throw it up later anyway, since Vampires can't eat human food.
Everything she did was for appearances, it's why she gave birth to him. To look good.
His Dad wasn't ever around, always working and actively trying to avoid being home so he wouldn't have to strike up another awkward conversation with his son.
At least they didn't fight anymore, or pester him about how Vampires were meant to feed from humans. He refused to listen to that logic. If he was meant to feed off of humans, why was he surviving on animal blood now?
Well, surviving is a large term.. getting by is more like it. He's skinnier than other Vampires, he isn't fast like others or athletic. He's tired all the time and dark circles are rapidly appearing darker on his face.
But he didn't need human blood, he won't ever need it. He'll get his shipments of animal blood every week like he does currently. He doesn't need to run or be athletic, as long as his grades are good. And dark circles don't bother him. If he were to go against his morals and consume human blood just for appearances, just to be seen as normal.. he'd be no better than his Mother.
His head caved under pressure, jerking forward as it was pushed harshly from behind. His head stopped just before he smacked his desk.
"Were you even listening at all?" Youngbin asked as he leaned over Sieun, hands planted around the shorter's arms, an attempt at intimidation.
Oh yeah, this was a problem. Jeon Youngbin and his followers were irritating and problematic. He fought himself every single day to not sink his fangs into their faces. He hates himself for wven thinking that way, though.
"Oh, right! You had your earbuds in. My bad, Sieun-ah." Youngbin said as he cackled, clapping his hands together like an infant that discovered entertainment for the first time ever.
"Apologize."
Youngbin's laughing stopped and his smile comforted into a smirk, "What'd you say?" Sieun gripped his pen tightly, "You made a mistake, you should apologize for it."
Youngbin stared at him with that same condescending smirk, "Look at your eyes. Fuck, they piss me off, you know that? If you weren't such a bastard, I'd even say they were pretty."
Sieun rose out of his chair, causing a loud and hair raising squeaking sound. Youngbin just laughed, "What are you gonna do? Call for our teacher?"
"Shut the hell up.." A mutter came from across the silent classroom. Youngbin scoffed, pushing past Sieun and walking over to the desk of the person who said it, "What did you say?"
"Youngbin, don't mess with him, man-" one of his goons tried to warn him but the guy at the desk cut him off.
"I said shut up. Jeez.. you guys are all so noisy today." He said with a yawn, stretching his arms into the air.
Sieun sighed as soon as he heard a desk fall over behind him. He sat back down in his chair, knowing exactly what was happening. That guy was right, why were they all so noisy today?
Sieun's eyes swiftly turned to his pen case, watching as it fell into the ground and two pencils fell out of it. His head turned up at the teen that caused the problem at hand.
"Oh, was that me?" He asked with a small smile, "My bad." He picked up the case and the pencils, putting them back on Sieun's desk.
"Why would anyone fight in a classroom?" He muttered as he faced forward in his seat. Suho frowned before huffing, "Smug brat."
The next two weeks, every night he dreamt of his childhood, of his old friends. It always started the same, his dream that is, he's remember a bunch of fun memories with them, and then he'd wake up in a cold sweat after seeing his younger self with blood smeared across his face. He wouldn't be able to sleep after he woke up from that dream.
Today he woke up early, like usual, so he got ready and drank his breakfast packet of blood from the fridge and walked to school.
It was an exam day, so everyone else was sluggish. Sieun almost felt like he fit in, though only on the surface could he. On the inside he knew he was a monster compared to everyone else.
The exam began and he was so engrossed in marking his answers that he hadn't realized Youngbin had asked the teacher to go to the bathroom. He smacked his neck as he past by him. The teacher tsked and just warned Youngbin to "play nice."
Sieun didn't even know how much time had gone by when he began to feel hungry, like he was starving. He was drowsy and his vision went blurry. He didn't even check with the teacher before he abruptly stood up and left the classroom. The teacher called for him as he stumbled down the hall, but didn't actually come after him.
In the bathroom, Sieun stared at himself in the mirror above the sink, his eyes staring into his reflection's eyes. What the hell was happening to him? He was sweaty and dizzy, drowsy and discombobulated.. and he was so, so hungry.
Catching a glimpse of a patch on his neck. he immediately peeled it off his skin, moving as fast as he could. He glanced up at the clock, he needed to finish the exam.
He pocketed the patch and entered his class once more. "Are you okay, Sieun?" The teacher asked as everyone watched him drag himself into his seat.
"I'm fine." A lie. He was so fucking hungry, but on top of that.. he was angry. That anger only grew in size when they were grading their papers after the exam ended.
Sieun felt his hand shaking as he crossed off a question. Wrong. He got it wrong. His answer was wrong.
His palms slammed against his desk, creating a loud echo through the class. "Sieun?" The teacher asked in surprise, but was cut off before asking anything else as Sieun stood up swiftly in his chair.
Sieun took his pen with him, grabbed someone else's textbook, and enacted on his instincts.
The last time he was this angry, he wasn't able to control himself. He hadn't been himself at all back then. He became a monster that day, and today was the same.
He came to when Ahn Suho punched him. Sieun fell to the floor just as a teacher walked in and yelled at them. Sieun saw Youngbin laid out on the floor a little ways away from him, his face bloody and nose most definitely broken.
Did.. I do that? Sieun thought. He stood up from the ground and shoved past Ahn Suho, desperately trying to escape to the bathroom.
He later found out that Youngbin had slapped a drug onto his neck that had strong effects against Vampire. He only could've gotten it from a Vampire themself, that was one problem. Another was that Youngbin knows he's a vampire.
