Chapter 1: She's Electric

Chapter Text

Today was move in day at Jujutsu University, and you were beyond excited to finally get off the train and start your first year as a university student. In high school, you didn’t find many people to connect to, so you were making it your goal to try and make as many new friends as possible during your four years. You stared around the train car at the unfamiliar faces, thinking that your life in the city was going to be made up of new faces, which made you nervous because everyone knew everyone in your hometown. It was a long ride from the countryside to Tokyo that you weren’t able to sleep on because of your nervous jitters. So, you tried to pass the time by staring out the window, watching as the scenery changed from serene nature to concrete infrastructure with each passing kilometer. Your emotions toward your new life kept building the closer you got to the station, so as you were sitting there with only a few minutes left, you felt like you were going to bounce out of your seat from excitement and nervousness.

You started gathering your belongings in the hope that it would make those last remaining minutes pass by quicker. After collecting your water, nintendo switch, and purse, your train arrived in Tokyo station. You quickly got up and grabbed your suitcase from the drop area before attempting to make your way off the train, but before you could finish stepping onto the platform, a middle aged man smoking a cigarette bumped your shoulder. The collision caused you to trip into a girl your age, which resulted in her spilling her coffee.

“Watch where you're going, you geezer” you mutter before turning to the girl in front of you, “I’m so sorry about that,” you apologize as you begin to grab some napkins from your purse to help her clean up the mess on the ground. The girl has shoulder length brown hair and a mole under one of the eyes that were staring back at you.

She smoothly responded, “It’s all good,” before returning her focus to cleaning up the mess.

You noticed that the girl was carrying a student ID for your university, so you asked, “Are you also moving in at Jujutsu University today?”

She lifted her eyes, seeming confused before putting two and two together with her ID and your bags, so she replied, “Yeah, I’m a second year, but I live off-campus with a couple of friends.”

“Well, since we are going about the same place, let me treat my senpai to a drink on the way because I was technically the one to cause you to spill your first one even though that old fart shoved me,” you laughed.

Thus, the two of you made your way to a Starbucks that was on the way to campus with her leading the way. You couldn’t believe how different the big city was from your home. In your town, there were maybe 2,000 people and three restaurants. Here, the streets were bustling with action and you were surrounded by so many shops and advertisements that you didn’t know where to look. As the two of you walked, you learned that her name was Shoko Ieiri and that she was on the pre-med track, majoring in biology. You respected her for wanting to be a doctor because blood and broken bones always gave you chills. Once the two of you ordered, you and her sat down with your iced-white mocha and black coffee respectively.

After sitting in silence for a minute, you decide to strike up conversation. “Hey, since I'm not from around here and don’t really know anyone going to Jujutsu University, could I hang out with you tonight once we are done moving our stuff in, Ieiri-senpai?” you ask her. You really hope she doesn’t turn you down because that would be really embarrassing, especially after the way you bumped into her during your first meeting.

Her eyes widened with surprise at your request. You were about to take back your words when she finally responded. “Um sure, so, I’m going to this party tonight, and you can join me and my friends. We’re pregaming at our apartment before we head over, so you should join us around 21:00,” she answered before adding a disclaimer, “I have to warn you though, my roommates are two second-year guys who are notorious around campus for leaving girls high and dry, so get involved with them at your own risk.”

“Noted,” you smile at Ieiri before sipping on your mocha again. Once you finished your drinks, the two of you exchanged phone numbers where she texted you her apartment address.

“I’ll see you later tonight, Ieiri-senpai,” you grin, happy to have made a new friend.

“Yeah, see you later. Also, just call me Shoko,” she waves before the two of you head your separate ways.

After your short meeting with Shoko, you proceeded to spend the next five hours unpacking your items–who would’ve thought that organizing a closet took that long. Just as you were hanging up your last few pieces of clothing, your new roommate entered the room to start her move in process. You had no idea who your roommate was going to be since you chose to have a random one. You were pleasantly surprised when you glanced at the person entering the room, seeing a pretty girl with pigtails.

You smiled at the girl before saying, “I’m assuming you’re my roommate. My name is y/n, and it’s nice to meet you.”

You watched as she set her stuff down before quickly making her way to where you were standing by the closet. She grabbed your hands before speaking to you: “Hi! My name is Utahime Iori, and I’m so happy that you seem normal. I was so nervous that I was going to have a scary roommate,“ she shivered before releasing your hands.

The two of you discussed the basics like what your majors are and what you like to do in your free time. You found out that she was majoring in education, specifically high school education. She is also a big fan of fashion, which you could sort-of tell by her traditional clothing. The two of you continued making small talk and getting to know each other until before you knew it, it was time to get ready for your night out with Shoko.

You rummaged through your freshly put away closet for the clothes you got for going out in college after you finished your makeup and hair. You grabbed a short and tight leather skirt, knee high black boots, a white shirt, and a leather jacket. You put on your outfit and finished the look off with a gold pendant necklace and some gold dangly earrings. Finally, you were ready to start your college experience, so you texted Shoko that you were on your way. You grabbed your purse, said goodbye to Utahime, and walked toward Shoko’s flat.

Her apartment ended up being a short distance away, so you made it there after a brisk eight minute walk through the city–google maps truly was your savior. As you arrived at the building, you took note of how fancy it looked, and you were shocked that college students could afford such a nice complex. You entered the lobby where you saw a tall, handsome man with shockingly white hair and azure blue eyes. He’s wearing a simple white tee shirt under a blue striped short sleeve unbuttoned button up with carpenter pants. He looked like a model from the front cover of a magazine. His eyes lit up when he looked toward you, and he began to walk in your direction. You looked around for someone else in the lobby because there was no way that this beautiful man you didn’t know could be coming to you.

“You must be Shoko’s new friend. I’m one of her roommates. She told us that you would be coming with us to the party tonight. The name is Satoru Gojo, but you can just call me Satoru. Cute outfit by the way,” he said with a wink.

You gave him a strained smile, before replying, “Thanks. You can call me y/n, but I’m really excited to go to my first college party with you guys.” You quickly understood the warning she gave you earlier in the day. He totally seemed like the type to drop a girl after a week because he got bored of her. On the inside, you mourn the fact that his good looks are lost on him.

The two of you make your way to the elevator where he pressed the button for the sixth floor. You take a closer look at him since you’re in a close, confined space and notice the quality of the clothes he is wearing. You think that he must be rich since all of his clothes are from brands you can’t even pronounce, and he’s taking you up to a super nice apartment as a college student.

You’re broken out of your thoughts of this Satoru Gojo guy when the elevator doors open on the floor of his apartment. You walk for a few seconds before reaching his door, which he quickly unlocks before ushering you inside. Upon crossing the doorway, you hear Shoko yell from across the kitchen.

“Satoru, you better not have scared off my new friend,” Shoko warns. After she speaks, you hear a masculine laugh come from the couch.

“Guys…. I would never frighten such a cute girl,” Satoru smiles, leaving you dumbfounded at his words. Rather than saying anything, you choose to just roll your eyes as you take off your boots. Then, you make your way over to Shoko, who is standing at the kitchen island. She hands you a vodka cranberry that you quickly accept because you want to loosen up a bit so that you are more comfortable around these new people. It quickly takes effect after the long and tiring day you had, so you begin chatting with Shoko and Satoru. Satoru quickly rattles off small details about himself without you having to ask after just one drink, so you find out that he is a physics major and that he and Suguru, who you haven’t met yet, have been friends since 2nd grade and that the three of them have been a trio since their freshman year of high school. He must be a lightweight to be this tipsy already, you conclude.

The man that the laugh came from earlier finally makes an appearance roughly 45 minutes after you got here by getting up from the couch. To your surprise, he is just as tall as Satoru but attractive in a dark way compared to Satoru’s ethereal beauty. He has long hair that reaches just past his shoulders with half of it is a bun and multiple piercings around his ears. You seriously begin to question where Shoko is finding these men.

“Hello, you must be y/n. My name is Suguru Geto, but call me Suguru. I hope we can get along,” he says with a light-hearted smile while shaking your hand. This guy definitely seemed a lot more likeable than Satoru, who you only just met a few minutes ago, but you can already tell. However, he has the type of charm that warns you to be careful or you’ll fall into his trap.

“Hi Suguru,” you blush, slightly tipsy since you were already two drinks in, “I’m happy to finally meet you after how great Satoru made you sound.” Both of you chuckle at your words. Then, Satoru startles you by suddenly wrapping his arm around your shoulder.

“Y/N…. it’s not nice to talk about people like they’re not there,” Satoru speaks into your ear causing you to blush and pull away from him. He then takes that opportunity to speak to the group: “It’s time to get to the party,” he cheers making his way to the door with the rest of you following.

As you follow along with the group, you learn that the party is being hosted by Mei Mei, someone who went to a high school near them that they know. She lives in a house off-campus that she rents all by herself, which is very impressive considering she's only a third year. Her house wasn’t huge, but it was right off of campus, which made it the perfect spot for students to meet up. The building was a cute two-story with a porch and decently sized lawn for the city.

As your group arrived, you noticed many eyes on the boys next to you. The look in the eyes of the girls was want, and the boys staring were green with envy. It was in that span of a few seconds that you realized how well-known Suguru and Satoru were around campus. You had slightly thought that Shoko was exaggerating when she warned you about the boys. However, you weren’t able to dwell on the thought for long because Shoko began to pull you inside to go with her to get a drink and say hi to Mei Mei.

Once you passed through the door, you were nearly suffocated by the stench of weed and alcohol mixing to pollute the stagnant air of the house. The tightly packed house was filled to the brim with drunk people dancing to the almost deafening music, which felt like a scene out of a movie to a sheltered person like you. You continued following Shoko over to the bar area where you and her selected your drink of choice–spiked lemonade.

“Shoko!” yelled a girl over the music. She had white hair and was wearing a smirk as she looked at the two of you.

“Hey Mei Mei!” Shoko yelled back before the two of them hugged. Mei Mei turned from looking at Shoko to looking you up and down.

“Who might this be?” Mei Mei questioned as she was staring at you.

“Hi, I’m y/n, and it’s nice to meet you. I just met Shoko today and asked if I could tag along on her plans since I’m a first year here,” you answered before adding, “Your party is awesome, so I’m glad I was able to come tonight.”

“Well, I’m glad to see some new faces because some of these people have been boring me. I’ll see you guys around at some point tonight. I have to get back to my game of pong,” she says before turning to make her way back to the table. You notice Suguru and Satoru at the table with her along with another girl.

You and Shoko linger by the drinks table for a little while longer before moving to spectate the intense game of beer pong taking place since Satoru and Suguru were competing like it was life or death. Satoru ended up winning, and he threw his arms up while throwing jabs at Suguru about how he sucked.
“y/n, come be my partner for this round,” Satoru yells over the music.

“Okay,” you say while your feet are already making their way to the table. You and Satoru ended up being against Shoko and Suguru, so it was bound to be another competitive game. You didn’t have much experience with the game, but you were sure it couldn’t be that hard. Winning the coin toss, your team got to go first, and Satoru told you to throw the first ping pong ball. With the small ball in your hands, you pull it back in your hand before attempting to arc it into the cup like you saw them do earlier. Unfortunately for you, the ball only made it about half way across the table before bouncing, so you weren’t even close to getting a cup out.

Satoru started laughing at your misfortune before grabbing your hip to pull you closer to him. Once you were standing in front of him with his hand on your hip, he leaned over your shoulder to show you how to correctly throw the ball. Of course he ends up effortlessly sinking the ball straight into a cup on his first go. The two of you high-fived each other before the game continued with it being Shoko and Suguru’s turn. They also get one cup out on their turn with Suguru being the one to land the shot. The whole time Satoru’s touch lingers on your hip, but you force yourself not to think too much into it because of his reputation of sleeping around. By the end of the game, you’re feeling warm and happy from winning the game and how much you had to drink. Satoru carried the team, but you contributed with a few cups. Feeling bored, you and the group decide to make your way to the other side of the party where there is a crowd of people dancing.

The song playing is one of your favorites, Promiscuous by Nelly Furtado, which causes your hips to start swaying. With the alcohol in your system, you’re in your own world and hardly notice the firm hands grabbing your hips to dance with you. You sing along to the song with this unknown man because you didn’t bother to turn around and check who you were dancing with. Your hands reach back to wrap around his neck while you sway to the beat of the music as the music continues to change. One of his hands reaches up to rest on the lower part of your rib cage while his other one squeezes at the side of your hip. The two of you are so in sync with your motions that the drunken dance looks like a beautiful performance.

After about 30 minutes on the dancefloor, you begin to slightly sober up, which causes you to break from your trance and look around. You notice Surugu and Shoko beside you dancing with their own people but don’t see Satoru, so you look behind you to see him smiling at you from his place against your hips. Noticing your attention on him, he gives your skin a light squeeze of acknowledgement. Still drunk, you smile back before continuing to grind on him. The stagnant, polluted air of the house was causing you and him to sweat, but neither of you wanted to break the hypnotizing dance.

Eventually, after dancing and sweating for an hour, your group was parched and in desperate need of a break. Breaking for the bar, you all decide to get water since the hour is close to 2:00. Suguru being the voice of reason suggested that the group head in for the night since it was getting very late.
“y/n, do you need someone to walk you back to your dorm or are you staying at our place?” Shoko questioned. You were relieved that she asked because you didn’t want to bother them.

“Can one of you walk me home if it isn’t too much of a bother?” you asked. Satoru quickly volunteered, which resulted in the two of you splitting up from Shoko and Suguru. You waved goodbye to the two of them and thanked them for allowing you to join them at the party tonight before leaving with Satoru.
