Work Text:
You sat on your couch, watching your husband play with your daughter. It was everything you could’ve ever wished for: a family. A loving man, a home, a child of your own, and comfort. Peace.
Macaque picked a toy rocket off of the rug and lifted it in the air.
“Pshhhewww!” He voiced the sound of the rocket taking off, making it fly through the air. You smiled, warmth filling your cheeks. Your toddler giggled at her father’s silliness and raised her hands up to try and grab the toy from him.
“Macaque, be nice to her..” You gently scolded, partially joking. Your husband just laughed and gave his daughter’s forehead a kiss.
“She’s enjoying herself! Ain’t that right, babygirl?” He asked her, nuzzling his nose against hers.
“Pfff!” She answered with a happy chirp, grabbing onto the fur on Macaque’s face.
“Owww!” He faked being hurt, a big, stupid grin on his lips.
…
“Dada!”
“Did she just-” You started, tears already welling up in your eyes.
“MY BABYYYY!” Macaque suddenly exclaimed, interrupting you and immediately grabbing your child, hoisting her up into the air and proceeding to gently toss her up and down like she was a ball.
“I knew you’d say my name first! You’ve never let me down, my little munchkin!” He exaggerated, cooing at her face, watching as she giggled and babbled.
“She’s lucky she's so cute, or else I’d be mad she hasn’t said Mama yet,” you added with a light sob, moving from the couch to the floor to join your family.
“Are you crying right now?”
Stupid Macaque.
