A Universe Besieged

Summary:

Tie in to Aragorn II Elessar's 'When Legends meet' series. The Doctor, Leela and K-9 are taking some time off when they find themselves besieged by enemies from other worlds, all of who seem to want to kill The Doctor. And all the while, someone from The Doctor's future is pulling the strings.

Notes:

An idea I’ve been planning for a bit, thought I’d at least start it.

As the summary said, this is part of Aragorn-II Elessar’s ‘when Legends Meet’ universe with his permission. You don’t need to read it to understand this story (although I would highly recommend it just because it is amazing) but would probably help.

This is mainly going to be set in the Doctor Who universe, during the Fourth Doctor era (set in no particular timeframe but at any point between ‘The Invisible Enemy’ and ‘The Invasion of Time’) but other fandoms will be included.

I apologize in advance if the Doctor Who characters seem OOC, this is my first time writing Four and not quite sure I have a handle on things.

Chapter 1: A gruesome discovery

Chapter Text

A planet far from Earth, Universe-63

 

The Fourth Doctor was sitting on a chair, relaxing as his Companion; Leela looked around the world they were currently on, K-9 rolling after her.

They’d decided to stay for a bit after their latest adventure. Leela liked the area, it reminded her of home. The Doctor could see why, the people there wore attire similar to Leela and the settlements were a bit better than and nicer than where Leela had come from.

 

It was a peaceful world, now that they’d solved the latest problem. The Doctor wondered how long this would last.

 

“Doctor!”

 

As if summoned by his thoughts, the leader of the people here, a grey haired man rushed over as The Doctor looked up, wondering what had gone wrong now.

 

“Solomon, what can I do for you?” The Doctor asked pleasantly.

 

“I’m afraid we need your help. Your friend is an expert of sorts in combat and tracking you said. We could use her expertise,” Solomon said with a glance at Leela, who looked at him curiously.

Shortly after, Solomon led The Doctor, Leela and K-9 over to where a body was laid on the ground, covered by a sheet.

 

“We have had many deaths, but this…we have never seen anything like this,” Solomon said with a shuttering breath.

 

Leela knelt down next to the body, slowly lifting the sheet off and staring, horrified.

 

“This man….he was beaten…and then eaten,” Leela said after a moment. “His neck was broken with one hand. Whatever did this…was strong but savage. There is no sense of reason in this attack.”

 

“Who could have done this?” Solomon asked horrified.

 

“I fear the question is not who, but what,” The Doctor said with a frown.

 

There were any number of species that could break a human neck with one arm, but one that would beat and then consume its victim afterwards…none of the species’ that The Doctor could think of engaged in such a barbaric practice.

 

So either there was an anomaly, a member of a species that had forsaken all intellect for pure savagery. Or something else was going on here.

 

Earth-24

Not long after

 

On a road, Colter Shaw was on his way to his next job when, to his shock, a blue portal opened up in front of his RV.

Colter tried to swerve but he was too close and the RV went into the Breach.  As he tried to figure out what was happening, Colter saw images.

 

First, a blue robot with a red car on its head and orange flames spray painted on the arms, chest and legs.

Then, a figure in a black cloak, holding what seemed to be a green energy blade.

Next, a man in red, white and blue holding a shield with matching colors.

Then, a young man with spiky blond hair and blue eyes holding a rather large sword.

The last image was of a blue box with the words ‘police’ on it.

After the last image faded, Colter’s RV emerged on what seemed to be a deserted patch of dirt. Unfortunately for him, the dirt had a rock, which made contact with one of the tires. There was a tearing sound and Colter heard the sound of airing leaving a tire.

 

Swearing, Colter pulled out his cell phone, trying to call Bobby. But his phone didn’t have any service.

 

“Great,” Colter said with a sigh.

 

Unbuckling, Colter got up and exited his RV, going out to assess the damage. But he paused, feeling like he was being watched. Turning around, Colter ducked as a rock was thrown at him. A sword was then thrown, hitting the side of his RV, to Colter’s shock.

 

“Man filth!”

 

At the shout, Colter looked up, staring at some terrifying looking, pale skinned beast as it approached, holding another sword.

“What the Hell?” Colter muttered.

 

“Your iron carriage won’t save you from us!” the beast snarled.

 

“Us?” Colter wondered.

 

It was then that Colter realized he was surrounded. Looking around, Colter saw various other creatures, all clearly the same species and wielding swords and knives.

 

Colter wasn’t sure what he had just stumbled into, but Colter knew one thing for sure: he was in trouble.

Chapter 2: The main man

Summary:

Colter makes a plan as The Doctor begins to figure out what is happening. Someone else is brought to Universe-63.

Chapter Text

Planet far from Earth

Afternoon

 

Colter found himself tied to a nearby post by ropes as these creatures rummaged through his RV. He didn’t know where he was or what these things were, but one thing he knew for sure…he was in Kansas anymore.

 

While he was tied up, he observed the Orcs. They seemed mostly primitive, but they were obviously strong, stronger than a normal man. Colter knew he wouldn’t get away if he managed to get out of his binds, they’d kill him. So he had to outsmart them somehow.

Elsewhere, The Doctor walked onto the TARDIS, Leela following him.

 

“Doctor, should we not be trying to find whatever beast is terrorizing these people?” Leela inquired.

 

“And we will, Leela, once we know what we’re dealing with. But something is not right here,” The Doctor said as he made his way over to the console. “I know every species of alien in the universe. None of them do…that.”

“Surely there are species who can break a neck,” Leela protested, not understanding The Doctor’s point.

 

“There are. But none of them then eat their victims afterwards,” The Doctor explained, his eyes not moving from the console. “So either this is a species who has abandoned all semblance of being civilized, it’s a new species emerging or…there!”

 

“What is it, Doctor?” Leela asked as she walked up to his side.

 

“A portal from another universe has opened. Hmm, but that is strange,” The Doctor said as he put a hand to his chin. “There’s more than one portal.”

 

“I don’t understand,” Leela said confused.

 

“Think of it like a planet existing right next to another. They occupy the same space but don’t interact, don’t even know they exist right next to each other. But then, one day, a ship comes and takes someone to the other planet. But this ship doesn’t come often. So to have two come is unheard of.”

 

“So these portals shouldn’t be opening,” Leela realized and The Doctor nodded.

 

“Precisely. Something or someone is making them open. And we need to figure out what before the entire multiverse ends up here,” The Doctor said, quickly getting to work.

It had been hours since Colter had arrived, and he was observing the Orcs, looking for some kind of weakness when one of them spoke near enough that Colter could hear.

 

“We should eat the Man-filth!”

 

“No. New Master says he’ll be useful.”

 

“Bah! What does New Master know of Orcs!?”

 

“New Master promises us glory, more than the Old Master ever gave us. You will follow him.”

 

“And what if I don’t!?”

 

The lead Orc then struck the other Orc hard enough to make him fall to his knees.

 

“Meat’ll be back on the menu!”

 

The lead Orc then walked off as the Orc that had questioned him pulled himself back to his feet. And Colter now had a plan.

 

“Hey, you,” Colter called out quickly when the Orc started walking passed him. “You’re right, you know.”

 

“What are you talking about, Man-Filth?” the Orc sneered as he turned to face him.

 

“The smart thing to do would be to kill me. Your leader doesn’t see that. You would make a better leader for your people than he would,” Colter told him.

 

The Orc walked off, but Colter knew his point had been made and the seed had been sown. Now, Colter just had to wait.

 

Universe-192, alien bar

Not long after

 

The galactic bounty hunter known as Lobo belched as he walked out of the bar and walked over to his bike. He’d just cashed in a big bounty, and was now on his way to his next job.

“‘Til next time, geeks!” Lobo shouted back as he got on his bike.

 

It lifted up into the air and Lobo was off. However, just before he left the planet, a blue portal opened up in front of him and Lobo was going too fast to stop, flying right through it. As he tried to control his bikw, images flashed in front of Lobo.

 

First, a man with dark hair and eyes, wearing a suit that seemed to be a knock off of his old pal, Sups.



Next, a young boy with spiky brown hair, holding a sword that looked like a key.

Next, a guy in a green hood, wielding a bow and arrow.

Next, a young woman in a white dress, wearing a red jacket with a pink ribbon around her brown hair.

Finally, he saw a whole bunch of monstrous looking creatures.

Once that image faded, Lobo’s yelped (something he would deny if anyone asked) as he exited the portal, his bike out of control. Lobo managed to safely landed (crash, actually) his bike on a mountain.

 

“Where in the universe am I?” Lobo wondered as he got off the bike, looking around.

 

“You are where I have brought you.”

 

Lobo looked around at the sound of the voice but didn’t see anyone.

 

“Where are you, scardey cat?! Come out where I can see you!”

 

A menacing laugh that (again, something Lobo would deny) unnerved Lobo echoed through the mountain.

 

“You need not look for me. At the moment, I have no physical form. But soon, I will. And you will obey me until I do.”

 

“HA! You’re an idiot. The main man doesn’t obey anyone,” Lobo said as he crossed his arms. “Especially not some stupid voice!”

 

It was then that Lobo felt a piercing pain in his head. Lobo grabbed his head, crying in agony, the pain getting worse and worse until he fell to his knees.

 

“You will obey me, or perish in agony! This is only a small taste of what I can do to you!”

 

“Okay, okay! We’re in business!” Lobo shouted and sighed in relief when the pain was suddenly gone.

 

Lobo didn’t know what he had gotten himself into, but anything was better than whatever that voice had just done to him.

 

Orc camp

Same time

 

It took about an hour for Colter’s plan to take action. Colter watched pleased as the Orc he had spoken to shouted at the leader.

 

“You’re a coward! You have no ambition! You’d rather serve the New Master than think for yourself!”

 

“Say that again!” the leader snarled as it pulled a sword from its sheath.

 

“You don’t deserve to be leader!” the other Orc snarled as he pulled out his own sword.

 

The two Orcs rushed each other, steel meeting steel as they fought. The other Orcs all shouted, completely engrossed in the fight. And that was when Colter made his move.

 

Pulling out the small pocket knife he always kept in his shoe, Colter managed to kick it up to his hands. Colter quickly began cutting, the Orcs too engrossed in the fight to notice what he was doing. After a few moments, Colter could free his hands enough to break through the binds. While the Orcs were still distracted, Colter got to his feet and made his escape.

 

He didn’t know where he was going, but anywhere was better than here.

Notes:

Not a long chapter, I know but the first two chapters are mostly set up. Now, we’ll start getting into the plot.

Lobo from the DCAU has now joined the story. And the DCAU will not be the last fandom to join the story.

The cameos Lobo saw were Brandon Routh’s Superman, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Arrowverse Oliver Queen, Aerith from Final Fantasy VII and the Orcs from Lord of the Rings.

Notes:

A bit on the short side, I know but hope you all enjoyed it.

Thus far, the other fandoms are Tracker and Lord of the Rings, with Colter Shaw (the main character of Tracker) and Several Orcs crossing over to Universe-63.

The cameos Colter saw were Megas XLR, Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, the MCU’s Captain Steve Rogers, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and the TARDIS from Doctor Who.
