World Yields to Chaos

Summary:

Gabriel was content. He had found the perfect victim-a man consumed by grief, his wife barely clinging to life in a hospital bed. The pain was sharp, echoing Gabriel's own. The akuma was ready, dark wings of despair poised to strike.

But fate intervened.

On the way to the hospital, the man's car veered. He died on impact-just as the akuma took hold.

No one expected what happened next.

The magic, untethered from its master's control, didn't fade. It fused--twisting with death, reanimating what should have stayed buried. And then it spread. Silent. Rapid. Unnatural.

Paris fell in days.

The infected came in waves--some mindless, others far too organized. A new kind of enemy: zombies and mutants with terrifying intelligence.

As the city collapses and the magic starts to spread, Ladybug and Chat Noir now face new creatures, as they find their way to each other.

Or basically Zombie Apocalypse with Miraculous Ladybug cause there isn't enough of this specific genre and I needed more :)

Notes:

This is my first fanfiction, and I love the concept of undead creatures and mutations. So I hope you enjoy this fic as much I loved writing it. I would love some constructive criticism or any insight into stuff you liked or disliked about the fic. I hope you enjoy.

-> Also I'll try to keep a consistent schedule but it might take me a while so :)

Chapter 1: Marinette's POV

Chapter Text

SUNDAY MORNING 10 AM

DAY 8

Burned pastries, ingrained in her nostrils, transported her back to her earliest memory of baking.

She was six when her Maman taught her how to crack eggs, while her Papa showed her how to knead the dough. Her ever-clumsy and forgetful self had neglected to set a timer that first time. The smell of burnt bread, once a sweet memory, now soured at the sight before her eyes.

Would she ever be able to go back? Would life ever be normal?

What was normal anyway? Eight days had felt like two long months. Days of agony, scavenging for any food, water, and medicine to survive. Her job was to keep Paris safe, but how could she do that when her life was burning in front of her?

Her childhood home, the famous bakery of Paris, was gone. The heat of her burning home scalded her cheeks as she hovered near the torrent of flames on an adjacent rooftop. The slow drizzle of rain that began to pour over her head did little to hide the tears streaming down her face.

The heavens above blessed them with rain, a small reprieve from their unquenchable thirst and caused a worthy distraction. She could hear Alya and Nino staggering around on the rooftop near her, trying to catch as much water as they could in their palms. They had lost all their supplies; the water bottles, jugs, and cans were gone. The food they had relied on from the bakery’s reserves was now burning in the flames.

The bonfire that set her house ablaze had stopped the evil that chased them out in the first place. The evil they halted by setting her room on fire. All the research they had done over the past week, the miraculous notes, ingredients, and red string board of their findings were burnt to a crisp.

The rain extinguished the fire, but at what cost? Her childhood room was gone, the blackened ash consuming it within minutes.

The world fell with no warning. The disease spread so quietly yet violently that no one had expected it. It began on a lone Saturday morning, when her only plans for the summer were to finish costumes for her friend’s band. It was a normal day until the world-shattering akuma took hold of a car accident victim.

Even her magical ladybugs could not stop the level of havoc it wreaked on the world.
