Percy son of the river of Styx

Summary:

God don't have DNA so they can adopt a demigod. Most gods don't adopt expect for Apollo and the water gods. The waters gods have to fight to claim any child, if they want a kid they get a kid by any means. Having one of their own or stealing it, it doesn't matter to them. In some cases a adoption fight between the bio parent and the challenger goes on long enough that the demigod shows up at a camp and needs to be claimed and both immortals get some claim over their child. The one in the lead gets recognized as the godly parent while the losing immortal gets known as a ancestor making the child a demigod and a legacy. Most gods think that adoption is an Apollo thing since he is a protector of youth and thinks that is one of the best ways to protect kids and have no idea what is going on with the sea gods. So no one knows that Percy has been adopted and Poseidon hasn't told Sally that it was a thing that could happen because he was sure that he could fend off any challengers because he didn't think that Styx would get involved.

Chapter Text

The sea went to claim their new child only to come face to face with a challenger. A battle started, the king of the seas versus the keeper of oaths, the winner claims the child as theirs. The years passed, the newborn baby turned into a toddler, then into a child, who finally turned into a preteen, all while the battle was still taking place. The keeper of Oaths had the upper hand, she has had the upper hand for years now but the king of the sea kept fighting. He wanted his child, it has been so long since he last had a child of his own and wasn’t going to let this one be stolen away. So he fought and fought and fought, even as he kept losing ground. At this point the king of the seas knew that he wasn’t going to win, had known that longer than he was willing to admit, but he could wait out the clock. He just had to keep this up for a few more months, and he could keep some claim over son. All he had to do was keep fighting, he had to keep what little ground he had until his son was at camp. His son would never be known as his, Styx has already won too much of the adoption battle for that, but he could still be known as his descendant if he was lucky enough. Perseus Jackson, son of Styx, legacy of Poseidon had a nice ring to it, not as good as Perseus Jackson son of Poseidon, but the sea king had to take what he could get.
