Summary:

Adam is forced to marry a rich, brash alpha because his family needs money.

Notes:

DUDES I'M BACK!!! I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE INSPIRATION.
I'm sad, but I'm tired of writing porn. That's why I'm writing stupid shit now (although my 18+ fanfics were also shit, lmao)
This fanfic was inspired by a Turkish series I watched as a child - "Sila: Homecoming". The plot is partly taken from there! Everything happens in 2006, as in the original series. It's a great year because I was 1 year old then.
Duncan, Adam and other omega men have the title "wife" and "mom" because I want it!
And... I don't think this fanfic will be too serious. There will be a lot of stupid and absurd moments.
And yes, Lenny and Max here are stupid kids who will cause trouble.
WRITE COMMENTS! I'm very happy about it. Make the old dinosaur happy.
I'M DEDICATE THIS TO MY FRIEND ATRUJKA. SHE'S THE BEST.
I WISH EVERYONE A PLEASANT READING!!!!

Chapter 1: Dead cow

Chapter Text

06.00. It is early morning in a Turkish village.

The red sun has just risen from the horizon and is starting to heat the dry earth. Despite the early hour, it is already terribly hot. It is always like that in Turkey.

Duncan always wakes up at this time. Despite being sleepy and tired, he has to milk the cow. He and his husband Markus are the poorest people in the village. They have three children. One omega and two alphas. The cow and her milk are the only thing that brings them money. Therefore, Duncan has to get up early to collect the milk and then sell it at the market and earn some money.

As for the fact that they have three children, but they are poor. They are just stupid, that is why they have so many children.

Duncan has tied a blue scarf around his head to protect his head from the sun's rays. His dirty hair with streaks of gray sticks out from under the scarf. He held an old bucket in his hands and hummed songs as he walked to the barn. With each step, sand and dust rose from the ground, settling on his long shirt.

The old omega entered the barn and screamed in horror…

His cow was lying on her side with her tongue hanging out. It was obvious that she was dead. The cow had been sick for a long time and Duncan could not take her to the vet due to lack of money. He knew that this could happen. But not so unexpectedly…

He dropped the bucket, fell to his knees and cried.

No, he did not feel sorry for the cow. He understood that his family had lost their source of income…

The whole family woke up from the screams. His husband Markus ran to the barn. He was only wearing underwear with a hole in his ass. Also, his eldest and middle son – Adam and Lenny – came. The youngest son Max was lazy as usual.

Markus saw the dead cow and grabbed his head. Lenny whistled. Adam rushed to the cow and began to nudge her, hoping that she was alive and just sleeping.

— Star, get up! – Adam cried.

He himself gave the cow a name when he was a child. The cow was something more than a cow to him. She was a pet, because his parents, due to poverty, could not have a dog or a cat. He was the only one who really grieved over the death of the cow. Adam had always been too sensitive and gentle omega.

Markus meanwhile had pulled his wife to his feet. Duncan was clinging to him and crying.

— What are we going to do now? – Duncan took off his scarf and began to wipe away his tears.

— We'll figure something out. Now, we need to cut up the cow before it starts to rot. We can sell the meat. Go home with Adam. And you, Lenny, wake up your lazy brother. You have to help me.

Duncan nodded. Everyone started doing what Markus said.

***

More than an hour passed. Markus and his sons cut up the cow. Duncan was putting a large amount of meat on the kitchen table. Flies were flying around, flying in through the open window. Markus was standing by the sink, washing his hands of blood.

— What are we going to do now? No one wants to hire you because you're old. Lenny is 14. Max just turned 12. They're too young to work, – Duncan muttered, putting another piece of meat from the bowl onto the table.

The sticky blood was dripping down his hands, ruining his shirt. A normal person would have thrown the shirt away after that. But not Duncan. He couldn't throw away his clothes because he couldn't buy new ones.

— I have an idea... – Markus said just as quietly. He scratched his ass because it felt better, — The Lecter family is looking for a wife for their son, have you heard? They're a very rich and influential family.

— Yes, I heard, – the old omega nodded.

— We have Adam. He's an omega. He's already 20. He's kind, sweet, handsome. What's not a good candidate for a rich guy's wife? Besides, I know Hannibal Lecter! We were childhood friends and shitted together in the fields. He'll definitely want to marry his son to our son and give a good ransom.

Duncan tossed a piece of meat at the man.

— Are you crazy? Adam is our son! We can't just sell him!

Markus finished washing his hands. The blood was gone, but his hands still stank. He wiped his hands on his underwear, because there was no towel.

— But it's a good idea. Think about it.

He walked up to his omega from behind and put his arm around his waist.

— Adam will have a better life in a good family with a caring husband. We will get a lot of money and we will no longer have to worry about how to get through the next day. We will have enough money to pay for college for Lenny and Max! We will have a comfortable old age. We will have influential relatives and no one in the village will look down on us. Duncan, Adam is our way to salvation.

Duncan thought. His husband is right…

— Okay. A good marriage for omegas is the best thing that can happen to them. I hope Adam understands that we only want the best for him.

Marcus kissed the top of the man's head.

— I will change and go talk to Mr. Lecter. Wait for good news, – the old alpha said enthusiastically.

He slapped his omega on the ass, which made him scream. Markus went to look for clothes in the closet.

***

Markus changed into his traditional clothes. A long white shirt, wide trousers and a fez. He had been saving these clothes for an important moment and here they were.

He walked a few kilometres to get out of the village and the empty fields and into the city. The city seemed to have a different dimension: cars, clean streets, noise. Markus swore when he was scared of cars or bumped into passers-by. He grabbed everyone by the hand and asked where he could find Mr. Lecter's house.

He succeeded. He came to a house that looked like a small palace of Sultan Suleiman. Hannibal was a son of a bitch! He had become so rich because he had fertile fields with grapes and sold wine. Markus could not hide his envy.

He approached the massive black gate, near which stood guards in tuxedos and black glasses. They had pistols on their belts.

— Hello! - Markus greeted. He extended his hand to the guards for a handshake, but they ignored him, — I need to talk to Mr. Lecter.

— Do you have an appointment? What time? Give me your name, – one guard said coldly.

— Can you only visit him by appointment? – Marcus laughed, and the guards kept their fakces stone, — Guys, let me through.

The old man stepped forward, but one of the guards roughly grabbed him by the shoulder and pushed him back.

— Give me your name and the time of the appointment, – the guard repeated.

— I don’t have an appointment! I just came to see my old friend, you stupid ass! Hannibal, let me in!

Markus began to scream like a monkey.

— I understand. Then get out of here, you peasant! – the guard said in disgust.

Markus was offended. He kicked the guard in the balls. The guard screamed in pain and fell to the ground. The second guard hit Markus in return. He tied his hands behind his back. The fez fell to the ground.

— Horrible! You’re beating the poor old man! – Markus continued to scream.

— Stop!

Markus was lucky. Hannibal was walking in the yard in his silk smock and saw the fight outside the gate. He ran out to stop it.

The guards immediately let Markus go. Hannibal picked up his fez and gave it to him.

— Sorry about that, Effendi. They were just doing their job, – Hannibal said calmly, pointing at the guards, — But who are you and why have you come to my house.

— I am Markus Hansen! Don't you recognize me?

Hannibal arched his eyebrows, because he really didn't recognize him.

— We were friends in childhood! We played a lot and shitted together in the field.

— Exactly! – Hannibal remembered the happy moments of childhood and smiled, finally recognizing his old friend.

He began to hug Markus tightly, trying to ignore the fact that he still smelled of blood.

— Come on, friend! You will be a very respected guest in my house.

Hannibal waved his hand and the guards opened the door. Hannibal led the guest into the courtyard. In the courtyard was a beautiful garden, decorated in the European style. A gardener was working in the garden. Several maids ran around the courtyard and performed duties. Markus had always lived in the village and it was the first time he had encountered such luxury.

Hanibal led his friend, whom he had not seen for 40 years, to a wicker table with chairs under a canopy. Markus breathed a sigh of relief, for he was in the shade. On the table stood a jug of sherbet. Hannibal carefully poured his friend a cold drink into a silver bowl. There was also Turkish delight on a plate. Markus immediately began to eat the Turkish delight.

— My dear friend, I understand of course that you came for a reason, – Hannibal broke the silence.

— Yes. I heard that you are looking for a wife for your son, – said Markus with his mouth full. He had not eaten sweets for a long time.

Hannibal became gloomy. He exhaled heavily.

— You are right. My son's ex-wife died 2 years ago. He still cannot let her go and drinks a lot of alcohol and walks around sad. I hope that his new wife will be able to console him.

— In short, – Markus put his hand on his friend's shoulder, — I have a son Adam. He is an omega. He is 20 years old. He is handsome, kind, sweet, intelligent. Very obedient. And a virgin! I propose him as a candidate for a wife for your son.

Markus reached into his pocket to take out his trump card – Adam's graduation photo. He placed the photo on the table in front of Hannibal.

Hannibal picked up the crumpled photo and held it up to the sun to take a better look. The photo showed a very beautiful boy with big blue eyes, smiling. He looked like an angel. Adam was one of the most beautiful omegas he had ever seen.

Markus saw his friend admiring the photo of his son. He felt proud. While Hannibal didn't see, he put the Turkish delight in his pockets.

— This is an old photo. Of course, he looked older, but he was still just as beautiful!

Hannibal gave the photo to Markus, who put it in his pocket.

— Great, Marcus. I'll believe you that youlr son is a good omega, because you're my old friend. I trust you. Adam is perfect. I agree to this marriage.

Marlus restrained himself from breakdancing with joy.

— Besides, my youngest daughter, Abigail, always dreamed of a omega sibling, to embroider and gossip. Adam will be her lovely omega brother.

— That sounds great. But, Hannibal! – Markus said sternly, — Adam is my precious flower. I want to treat him well. And I want a decent ransom for him. My son is worth more than a hundred gold coins!

— Of course, I understand, – Hannibal patted his friend on the knee reassuringly, — We will give a decent ransom. Your family is now my family. I will give you everything you need.

Markus wanted to dance even more.

— And now, I think it's time for you to go. I have things to do. Tell your family about this good news. And I will tell my family. A car will come to you and bring a chest of money. This car will also deliver Adam to my house. I will immediately begin preparations for the wedding.

The old alpha's eyes widened at the word «chest». He was counting on a few thick bills. But this was even better!

Markus did as Hannibal ordered. He went home with his pockets full of Turkish delight.

***

Nigel was having fun on the small golf course in the yard. He was wearing a cap and sunglasses. There was a radio on the grass playing pop music. He spent a lot of time there.

His wife Gabi had died 2 years ago. She was sick. But Nigel still felt the pain and couldn't let her go. He often locked himself in their room and lay on the bed, hugging her clothes. Some things still had her smell. He forbade his parents and servants to throw away her things or even move them. Nothing could comfort him. Only alcohol and playing golf entertained him and distracted him from bad thoughts. But, this was a temporary suppression of the pain. The pain then returned. There was a big hole in his soul that nothing could fill.

Nigel took the club and hit the small ball. The ball went straight into the hole. Nigel shouted happily.

— Elias, did you see that?

He turned to his old servant who was standing behind him. Elias had served his father for a long time and had been with Nigel since he was a boy. He had accompanied him every step of the way and was present at every game of golf. Elias held a towel and a bottle of beer in his hands.

— Yes, Mr. Lecter. You're the best player.

Elias smiled under his mustache. Nigel went over to him and took a towel. He wiped the sweat from his sunburned face. Then, he took a sip of beer and gave it back to Elias. The servant acted as a table.

Nigel wanted to get back to the game. But, his father entered the golf course. Nigel felt irritated, because he didn't like being distracted.

— Son! I have a very important conversation for you, – said Hannibal.

Nigel rolled his eyes. He never liked serious conversations. It was terribly boring. He loved Gabi because she didn't like serious conversations either and just went with the flow.

— Later, – Nigel replied coldly, hitting the ball with his club again.

— No, now.

He snatched the club from his son and threw it on the grass. Hannibal understood that his son was experiencing grief. But this was no reason to completely withdraw from reality and ignore everything around him. Sometimes at the age of 25, Nigel behaved as if he were 10.

— Dad! – the young alpha said with annoyance.

Hannibal took him by the elbow.

— Listen, son. Gabi has been gone for 2 years… It’s hard, yes. But you have to move on and get married again.

Nigel gritted his teeth in anger. His father and mother really wanted to find him a new wife. It seemed that they were obsessed with this idea. They were sure that with a new omega he would forget about Gabi and the pain would let him go. But damn, no! He still needed time alone. He was against looking for a wife. But, his parents did not calm down.

The young alpha tore his hand away.

— Come on, damn. I said I didn’t want to get married.

— But I found the perfect wife for you. His name is Adam. He’s the son of an old friend of mine. He’s from the village, so… He hasn’t been spoiled by money. He’ll love you sincerely, not for money. His love will heal your soul. And maybe he’ll be able to give you children, unlike Gabi. Your mother and I want grandchildren.

Nigel made a dull sound, as if he were constipated. He kicked a pebble under his feet. He was very angry.

— No! Dad, another person will not replace Gabs for me! That's stupid! I will never be able to love someone again the way I loved Gabs. She is my only love for life.

— Nigel. You have to live on… – Hannibal said this with a calm expression on his face, but there was a noticeable irritation in his voice, — Constantly drinking alcohol and playing golf is not an option. A new marriage is the best way to get out of this swamp.

— I still won't get married again!

— This can't go on. You will get married, – Hannibal pushed his son, — I have already concluded a marriage contract with my friend. I have given orders to prepare for the marriage. And I have ordered Adam to be brought to our house. He will be here in a few hours.

Something seemed to break inside Nigel. He felt insulted by the betrayal. How could his father disregard his feelings and agree to this? Tears welled up in his eyes. Nigel did what a real man should do – he ran to cry in the chicken coop.

***

A few hours later, Markus finally returned home. He sang songs all the way. For this, he fought with passers-by. He told Duncan about everything and they shouted with joy. Now he had to tell Adam about everything…

Adam was lying on his back in a dry field near the house. Next to him was his younger brother Lenny. Adam was still upset about the death of Star. His parents had so simply dismembered her and then his mother had forced him to eat soup made from the meat of his pet…

Omega watched the clouds float in the sky. He loved to look at the sky, especially at night. He was attracted to the stars. When Adam looked at the sky, his soul calmed down.

— And what will happen now? – Adam asked quietly, turning his head to his brother.

Lenny was his favorite member of the family. Despite his young age, he understood Adam better than anyone and supported him.

— I don't know, – Lenny answered honestly, — But I hope parents will come up with something.

He smiled, hoping that his smile would cheer Adam up.

— If only I were an alpha... I could have a normal job. And provide for our family. We would eat sweets every day, – Adam said dreamily, again turning his gaze to the sky.

Lenny chuckled softly. He knew perfectly well that in their country omegas' access to work was limited. Omegas were considered capable only of housekeeping and motherhood. But the young alpha didn't think so. He hoped that one day his brother would be able to break stereotypes and work.

— And what would you like to work as?

— I don't know. Maybe an astronomer. I like to watch the stars. But I would agree to any job. As long as I could get out of the village.

— I would like to live on a high floor so I could ride the elevator, – Lenny admitted. He had only heard about elevators from the conversations of fellow villagers and had seen them on TV a few times.

— And I would like to ride the trolley bus every day.

— And I would like to have a normal bath, not wash in a bowl.

They both laughed. At that moment, Adam felt calm. But, this calm was quickly broken. His parents began to call him loudly.

Adam and Lenny immediately got up and ran into the yard.

— Did something happen? – asked the young omega, catching his breath after running.

Duncan and Markus looked at each other.

— Well, son... You're already 20 years old. And you're still without an alpha, – Markus began.

Adam arched his eyebrows. He didn't like how this conversation had started. But he was silent, letting his father continue to speak.

— I made a marriage contract with an old friend of mine. You're going to have a rich husband, Adam!

Markus said it so joyfully and simply, as if it meant nothing.

And for Adam, it meant everything. He felt like he had fallen into the ground. He had many plans for his life – finding a job, moving to the city. But now it was impossible. He would get married. Married to someone he had never met. Adam had always dreamed that his alpha would be someone he loved and knew well. That they would have a love like in a fairy tale. But, no. Life has other plans.

He laughed nervously, hoping it wasn't a good joke. But, his parents' faces were serious. They weren't joking.

— No... You couldn't do it, – the omega took a step back.

— But I did, – Markus said firmly, — It will be better for you, Adam. It will be better for the whole family. The Lecter family promised a big ransom for you. We won't be poor anymore. You will live in a big house and have everything you want. Your brothers will get a good education. Your mother and I will experience a comfortable old age. Isn't that wonderful?

— This is terrible! – Adam squealed and slapped his thighs. Tears fell from his eyes, — You, damn it, are going to sell me to some man I don't know. I always dreamed of true love, not this! I didn't want to get married at all. I wanted to find a job.

— You understand that this is not possible, right? Job, I mean, – Duncan rolled his eyes. He spoke calmly, trying to ignore his son's tears, — Adam, you are the salvation of our family.

— You are replacing the cow with Adam! This is absurd! – Lenny finally raised his voice.

He was no less shocked and upset than his brother. He could not believe that his parents agreed to this. Lenny stood in front of his brother, wanting to protect him.

— Lenny, stay out of this, – Markus growled at his son.

— I have to interfere in this.

A conflict began between them. But it was too late. Black car pulled up to the yard.

Chapter Text

Adam cried all the way to his new family. The driver was starting to get annoyed, but he didn't say anything. Adam still couldn't accept that this was really happening. It seemed like a bad dream.

The window opened to views of empty fields, and then views of the city. Omega didn't look out the window. Under other circumstances, his gaze would have been fixed on the views from the window. He had traveled by car and public transportation several times in his life, and each time it had been an unparalleled experience for him. But now, it didn't matter.

By the end of the road, his eyes were completely red and sore. The car stopped at a massive, high gate.

«The gate is like a prison» – Adam thought.

And indeed, now this yard, this house - would be his prison. A place where he would be forced to live without the possibility of escape.

Adam sat in the car like a frightened horse brought to a new stable. He didn’t want to get out and the driver had to get him out. Adam could barely stand when they pulled him out of the car. And he froze in place again. The driver couldn’t stand it anymore. He began to roughly drag Adam by the hand to the place where his new family was waiting for him.

The luxury and beauty of the yard didn’t appeal to the omega either. All his thoughts were about the end of his freedom and dreams in this place.

The driver led Adam into the house and held his hand so that he could take off his shoes. The omega felt awkward because his feet were dirty, and the carpets in the house were clean. The house inside was decorated in a European style. Well, furniture from Italy and France attracted Hannibal. Also, the color was mostly red.

Adam found himself in a very spacious living room where Hannibal’s wife, Will, was already waiting for him. He and his daughter were sitting on a sofa upholstered in red velvet. Several maids stood silently behind him. Will was an expensive omega. Hannibal bought him all the best. He was wearing an emerald dress and a headscarf of the same color. There was a necklace around his neck, and many massive rings on his fingers. Damn, it seems that his outfit today cost several million.

Will looked appraisingly at Adam, who stood motionless in the middle of the living room. Adam felt that he was being looked at as a commodity, not a person. There was undisguised disgust in Will's gaze. Well, that's not surprising. Adam's blue dress was torn and dirty. And Adam himself was not very clean, because he had not washed himself after lying in the field. And he stank a little of cow blood, because this smell had soaked into the walls of the kitchen in his house. Now this was not his house.

— You're cute, – Will said shortly, — But very thin.

His voice was pleasant and quiet. Will reached for the glass of cognac that stood on the table and took a few sips. Usually, omegas were not supposed to drink alcohol. Or they only did it on holidays. But, Hannibal spoiled Will, so he allowed him to drink cognac whenever he wanted.

His gaze was still superior. Unlike his daughter. Abigail looked at the omega with interest and smiled. It was obvious that she wanted to say something. But she waited for her mother to speak.

— I'm Will. But you can call me mom if you want. This is my daughter Abigail, – he nodded towards his daughter, — My husband is busy, so he will come later. He really wants to see you ...

Adam thought that it was good that there were no alphas here now. Maybe Will would understand him, as an omega to an omega.

Will wanted to say something, but didn't have time. Adam fell to his knees in front of him and cried bitterly. The young omega began to grab Will's skirt. Will was scared and screamed, because it was unexpected

— Please, Will, let me go home! I don't want this marriage, – Adam begged, burying his face in Will's knees.

This is terribly embarrassing.

— Stop it. Get up, – Will said irritably, trying to lift the omega to his feet. But, he grabbed him tightly. This boy was really ill-mannered. And no wonder, because he was from the village.

One of the maids helped lift Adam and sat him in a chair opposite the sofa. The young omega was trembling. Tears were pouring from his eyes with renewed force. Will was adjusting his skirt. Abigail wanted to get up and go to Adam, but Will took her hand and stopped her. The second maid brought a glass of water from the kitchen and gave it to Adam. He took it with trembling hands and took a few sips, then set the glass on the table.

Will took a silk handkerchief from his pocket and gave it to Adam to wipe away his tears.

— There is no reason for tears. You should be glad that you will become my son’s wife. Believe me, many people dreamed of being in your place, – Will said, putting a hand to his forehead. Adam’s behavior was starting to give him a headache, although this was only the beginning.

Adam barely restrained himself from giving a rude answer. Maybe it was a dream for someone, but not for him.

— But it happened without my consent... My parents made this decision without talking to me, – the young omega sobbed, pressing a handkerchief to his face. This handkerchief smelled of expensive perfume.

— Your parents made the right decision, – Will cut off sternly, — They did the best they could. I know this is unexpected. But it is definitely not a reason for grief. My son Nigel is a wonderful man. He is very good and smart.

Will praised his son with a smile. Abigail rolled her eyes behind him. This was not true. Nigel was stupid and irresponsible.

Adam lowered his head. Well, Will was definitely not his friend. He should not expect help from him. In addition to the general anxiety and fear, he now felt shame. In the eyes of Will and the others, he is a wild animal.

— But, you will not see my son until the wedding, which will be in a week. My husband and I want to preserve the tradition, where the groom sees the bride for the first time on the wedding night.

The words «wedding night» made Adam feel sick. His face turned noticeably pale. But Will continued.

— So for now, you will live in a remote part of the house. This is a great opportunity to adapt.

Adam remained silent. Will rolled his eyes.

— I see you are still disoriented. Abigail, take Adam to his new room. Let him rest. And let him wash himself... He stinks, – Will grimaced at the last phrase.

Abigail abruptly got up from the sofa, glad to fulfill her mother's request. This conversation had tired her and she wanted to finally be alone with Adam. She walked over to Adam and held out her hand. The young omega took her hand and stood up. His legs were shaking a little.

Together they left the living room and then the house. Abigail led Adam through the garden to the back of the house, where the guest rooms were.

— I'm Abigail! - she said sharply and loudly, – Although, you already know my name…

The girl scratched her head, feeling embarrassed. She was too excited by the presence of a potential friend.

— I'm glad that you're now a member of our family. I'm sure you'll be happy here. Well, don't be upset about mom. He's a little strict. But he's really kind. Don't pay attention to him, – she waved her hand, — In any case, I'll take care of you and protect you! I won't let mom and brother hurt you.

Adam couldn't help but smile. It bloomed on his tired face by itself. Abigail reminded him of Lenny. Damn, he must be worried about him… And they probably won't see each other often now.

They went to the back of the house. Adam was led into the guest room. The room wasn’t big, but it was nicely decorated, like the rest of the house. Red again. A double bed, a dark wood wardrobe, a plasma TV on the wall. And the damn carpets again. Adam hoped there wouldn’t be any dirty footprints on the red carpet. Damn, there was even a door that led to his own bathroom!

Adam stopped in the middle of the room, quickly looking everything over. Abigail walked around him, unable to contain her enthusiasm.

— There’s towels and soap and all in the bathroom, – she nodded toward the door, — I’ll get you one of my dresses to change into. I’ll try to find something blue to match your eyes.

Adam nodded. He walked over to the window and saw that it overlooked… the chicken coop. Well, it was indeed a distant part of the house.

Abigail walked over to him and hugged him from behind. Adam barely managed to hold back a scream of fright.

— I'm so glad you're here now! We're friends now, right?

— Yes… – Adam replied, trying to free himself from her embrace.

— I don't have any friends, really. Mom and Dad… They forbid me from making friends. They want my friends to be my equals. And I just want to be friends with someone!

Abigail confessed and finally let Adam go. The young omega breathed a sigh of relief.

Abigail realized that she must have done something wrong and should leave Adam alone.

— Okay... Rest. I'll come to you later!

She left the room, unintentionally slamming the door loudly.

Adam sat down on the sofa and leaned back. He felt absolutely exhausted. If he didn't have to wash, he would fall asleep.

Adam thought about how sorry he was for Abigail. She seemed like a good girl. But lonely. It was unfair that her parents forbade her to have friends. Adam was lonely too. The children in the village never wanted to be friends with him because of the poverty. Apparently Abigail would be his ray of light in this place and not let him go crazy.

***

Meanwhile, Duncan, Markus and Max had been going crazy for over an hour. They were dancing around the money chest and screaming. Markus was shoving money into Duncan's cleavage. Max was jumping over the trunk.

Only Lenny stood aside. He was upset and angry. His brother had been traded for this… Chest. Adam must have been shaking with fear now. Lenny hoped that his new family wouldn’t hurt him and that they would welcome him.

— We’re rich! We’re rich! – Markus shouted.

Lenny couldn’t take it anymore.

— Enough! – Lenny shouted in a squeaky voice.

Everyone fell silent for a moment. Max dropped a stack of money from his hands.

— What are you idiots!? Adam is in a new house with strangers! He’s probably crying and scared! We’ll never see him again! And you’re all happy!

Lenny’s lips trembled. Tears ran down his cheeks. Markus rolled his eyes. He put his hand on his son’s shoulder.

— I’m sure the Lecter family treats Adam very well. Like a princess.

Markus looked at his wife. Duncan nodded, confirming his words. Markus continued:

— Adam is better there than in this dilapidated house. I'm sure he has adapted and is enjoying the luxury.

Markus turned back to his wife and he nodded again.

— And why do you think you won't see Adam again? You'll see him on your wedding day. And then you can come over for the weekend. Your mom and I want to buy a house in the city. But don't be surprised if Adam doesn't care about you. He'll have a husband and kids.

Markus started to ruffle Lenny's hair. The young alpha threw his father's hand away in disgust.

— You're dumber than a dead horse! Adam isn't happy! He won't be happy! He didn't want this life! He wanted to marry the person he loves, damn it! I'll take Adam and we'll run away together!

— Lenny, – Markus said sternly, — Stop hysterics.

Lenny knew there was no point in arguing. His father didn't understand him. So Lenny hit him in the balls. He ran away immediately.

Markus fell to the floor and screamed in pain.

— Son of a bitch!

Damn, he must have taught Lenny that fighting technique for nothing. He used it against him.

Adam washed up. Now he smelled like a berry skunk. He changed into the blue dress that Abigail had given him. The sleeves and skirt of the dress were decorated with lace. This dress fit his figure perfectly. Well, Adam was so thin that he was the same size as a 16-year-old girl. Abigail also gave him a blue headscarf so that he could hide his hair. Also, Abigail brought Adam a pearl necklace, a bracelet and earrings. She persuaded him to wear it. Adam blushed and refused. He had never worn such expensive jewelry and was afraid of breaking them. But, Abigail managed to persuade him. Adam did not put on only the earrings, because his ears were not pierced.

The maid brought him food on a tray. It was soup, bread and fruit for dessert. It looked delicious, but Adam had no appetite due to stress and fatigue. The food was still sitting on the table and had already gotten cold.

The young omega lay down on the bed and rested his head on a large pillow. His eyes closed by themselves. He thought he would be able to sleep and that would save his brain from overexertion.

But, his plans were ruined.

Hannibal and Will burst into the room like a Mongol invasion. The door slammed loudly. Adam was scared and jumped out of bed. He looked like a frightened deer.

Hannibal finally changed into a red suit. His big ass was no longer visible through the fabric of his robe.

He smiled broadly when he saw Adam. The omega was much more handsome than in the photo.

— Hello, Adam! Sorry I couldn't meet you. I had things to do. I'm very glad to see you. Welcome to our family!

— I'm glad to see you too, Mr. Lecter... – Adam muttered, clutching his skirt in his hands.

— No need for formalities, – the old alpha laughed hoarsely, — Just Hannibal. Or father. We’re family now, so I want you to call me that.

Hannibal leaned over Adam and placed a fatherly kiss on his forehead. But even that made Will jealous. He walked over to his husband and grabbed his hand tightly.

— I hope you like your temporary room, – Will smiled tightly, — And I see you haven’t touched the food. You don’t like the way our cooks? Are you picky?

There was a note of judgment in Will’s voice. Adam felt the tension under his gaze. It seemed to him that lasers would appear from Will's eyes and burn him. He took a step back.

— Yes, I really liked the room… And the food… I’m just not hungry. I’m really tired, - Adam stammered.

Hannibal noticed the tension between his wife and Adam. He wanted to make the situation better and less tense. Therefore, he changed the subject.

— You are wearing my daughter's dress, aren't you? – Hannibal touched the fabric of the skirt, — It suits you very much. It emphasizes the color of your eyes. I have never seen such a saturated blue color. You are truly amazing, Adam. The sweetest omega. I am glad that you got my son.

Hannibal wanted to do better, but he did worse. Will felt even more jealous that Hannibal was complimenting someone else. The sweetest? Seriously? No! He's the sweetest!

Will squeezed his husband's hand tighter. Almost to the point of pain. Hannibal grimaced.

— Listen, Adam. Don't think you've gone to heaven. We didn't take you from a poor family into our home because we're saints like Mother Teresa. You're just not spoiled by money like other omegas. I could easily raise you to be the perfect wife for my son, – Will said.

Adam arched his eyebrows. It sounded strange and insulting. Is he a dog that needs to be raised?

— Oh, don't scare the boy, – Hannibal took Will's hand and kissed it, — But yes, Adam. I chose you because I am sure you will love my son for his soul, not for his money.

Hannibal patted Adam on the shoulder, hoping that this wouldn't make his wife jealous either.

— We'll go, – Hannibal took Will's hand again and intertwined their fingers, — You need to rest. And make sure you eat!

With these words, the couple left the room. Adam fell onto the bed. He would definitely go crazy with this family.

***

Night. Stars and a full moon shine in the dark sky. Adam is awake. He thought he would sleep like a log from fatigue. But no! His nervous system was overstrained and this prevented his body from falling asleep.

It was terrible. He wanted to sleep, but he couldn't!

Adam was almost crying. He was twisting and turning in different directions and it didn't help. Therefore, Adam decided to go outside. He hoped the fresh air would do him good, and the walk would distract him from the thoughts that buzzed in his head like a swarm of bees.

The young omega quietly left his room and went out into the backyard. He was wearing only a long white sleep shirt. In the darkness, he could have been mistaken for a ghost.

Adam immediately turned his attention to the night sky. It was so beautiful. This view of the stars was the same as at his home. But it still felt foreign.

The young omega looked at the sky for a long time and counted the stars, tried to see the constellations. Then, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. It really felt a little better.

But, the peace did not last long. There was a noise in the chicken coop nearby.

Adam squeaked and got scared. Then, a man came out of the chicken coop.

It was Nigel.

The young alpha still could not accept that he would be married. And that his future wife was in his house. It was difficult. Therefore, the man drank a lot of beer, and then went to the chicken coop. He felt sorry for the chickens, because they listened to him, were silent and did not judge. Due to the large amount of alcohol, he fell asleep and slept like that for several hours. It was a wonder that the chickens did not make a nest out of his hair. And only now, he woke up.

Nigel had a headache and he was nauseous. He hit his head on the low ceiling when he got up. Nigel looked like a homeless person after sleeping in this place. His hair was disheveled, his shirt was unbuttoned, and his face was red. When he came out of the coop, he saw a strange, frightened omega.

It was definitely Adam.

And… He was handsome. But, damn it! His parents didn’t want him to see Adam until their wedding night! They would scold him if they found out he had seen an omega.

— What are you doing here so late? – Nigel asked, massaging his neck, which ached from lying on a hard surface.

Adam blinked and stared at him blankly. Of course, he didn’t understand that this stinky and unkempt alpha was his future husband.

— I… I just went out for a walk… And don’t look at me! I’m without a headscarf! – Adam reminded him sharply.

In their country’s culture, only their relatives could see omegas’ hair. Well, that driver was an exception. The omega didn't think he would be abruptly stolen from his house and put in a car.

— Ouch.

Nigel immediately turned away. When the alpha wasn't looking, Adam continued:

— Well, I'm Nigel's future wife. Our parents decided to marry us... I arrived here today. I'm still getting used to this place.

Adam muttered, looking at the sky. A chicken ran past. It was so absurd.

— And you're happy about that?

— No, – Adam answered honestly, — And who are you? Aren't you up to sleep too?

— I... I'm a gardener. My name is... Michael, – Nigel lied. It would be better if their meeting remained a secret. He didn't want Adam to tell his parents, — And I live here. I heard a noise and went to check on the chickens. Sometimes weasels and foxes come here.

— I see... – Adam nodded, — How long have you lived here? Do you know this family well?

— Yes, I've lived here a long time, – Nigel searched his pockets for a cigarette and a lighter as he spoke, — And yes, I know them well. So what?

— It's just... – he paused briefly, wondering if it was safe to ask the next questions, — What is Nigel? Is he good? Won't he offend me?

Nigel barely held back a laugh. He would have to talk about himself. He finally found cigarettes and a lighter. He lit a cigarette. Smoke rose into the night air.

— He's not perfect. But don't worry, he won't hurt you.

Adam exhaled with relief. But his fear didn't go away completely. The «gardener's» words were no guarantee that it was true.

— Really? And I thought he was spoiled and arrogant. And stupid. Well, you know, how rich everyone is, – the omega chuckled quietly, — And he's fat?

— What? Stupid? Fat? No! He's very handsome and smart, – the young alpha replied sharply, because he felt offended by Adam's words.

— You're so protective of him, – Adam chuckled again, — I guess you're good friends.

— Very good friends... I would say we're like one person, – Nigel scratched the back of his head.

They were silent for a moment. The smoke from Nigel's cigarette continued to rise. The chicken was still running alongside them.

Adam thought that this gardener was not a bad person. Maybe he could make friends with him.

— If you're wondering, Nigel doesn't want this marriage either. Therefore, he is unlikely to sleep in the same room with you at all.

— That would be good... But why doesn't he want marriage? Doesn't he want a young, submissive omega? Like all alphas...

— Not all alphas are like that! – the man interrupted, not letting Adam finish, — Nigel had a wife. But she died. Not enough time had passed for him to fall in love again. Although, I'm sure he will never love again. His love for his wife was too strong.

Adam fell silent and lowered his head. He didn't know about this. Probably, losing a loved one is terrible. He could not imagine how it felt. Now, he felt sympathy for his future husband.

— I'm so sorry...

Nigel waved his hand. Their conversation made him sad and heavy-hearted. He wanted to get drink again.

— I'll go. You go to your room too, Adam, – he said coldly.

Adam decided that it was really time for him to go. If Will found out he wasn't in his room, he would be angry. His mind had cleared a little of the thoughts of marriage and resentment towards his family. However, now he was thinking about his future husband and his fate.

Chapter 3: Chickens

Summary:

Adam meets Elias

Notes:

today is my birthday! 💖

Chapter Text

Adam woke up early, although he had hardly slept at night. Waking up early had long been his habit. It was the habit of everyone who lived in the village.

From the lack of sleep, Adam felt dizzy. The fact that he had not eaten yesterday also added to his weakness. And he still had no appetite. Adam skipped breakfast and simply drank a glass of cold water.

Abigail brought him her dress, but this time green. And she brought him jewelry again – a gold necklace and massive bracelets. She said that soon Adam would have his own wardrobe and her parents would buy him new clothes. Will should come to him and take his measurements. Abigail said some more nonsense, wanting to develop their friendship. But, Adam was not in the mood. So she left and he was left alone.

When the drowsiness passed, anxiety and thoughts about irreversible changes in his life returned. From this he felt that he was short of breath, and his hands were shaking. Omega didn't know how to get a grip. He wanted to turn on the TV to distract himself. But, it was a plasma TV! Adam didn't understand how to use it. He only had a fat old TV at home. Because of this, he felt stupid and again felt that this place was alien to him.

Adam was sad that Abigail had left. Maybe if he hadn't kept quiet and continued the conversation, she would have stayed. He would have talked about everyday topics and at least felt a little better. Talking about everyday topics could distract him from his thoughts.

Damn, he wanted someone to just be there.

Omega decided to go outside to get some fresh air. And, maybe, meet the gardener he had talked to yesterday.

But, he didn't meet the gardener. Adam met a strange alpha with a mustache near the chicken coop. He was standing on his knees, holding a chicken in his hands and talking to it. Adam couldn't hold back a loud laugh.

From this Elias dropped the chicken and it ran into the bushes. He blushed with shame, because someone noticed how he was doing strange things. And it was not just anyone! It seems to be his master's future wife! Elias abruptly rose to his feet and began to shake the sand from his pants.

— Good morning, – Elias cleared his throat. He folded his hands behind his back and looked down, embarrassed to look at the omega. He tried to look casual, — You're Adam, right?

— Yes, – Adam nodded. There was still a smile on his face from this funny situation, — And what's your name? Do you work here?

— Elias… – the alpha answered quietly, — Yes. I'm Nigel's personal servant.

— Then I'm glad we met. Do you know Michael? He's like a gardener. We talked yesterday.

— Michael? – Elias arched his eyebrows and scratched his mustache, — There's no one here with that name…

Adam arched his eyebrows too. That man clearly said his name yesterday. He couldn't have been mistaken or remembered it incorrectly. Well, he didn't have sclerosis yet.

— Are you sure? But… We were talking, – the omega nervously clutched his skirt in his hands and tried to remember the details to describe the gardener, — He was untidy and stinky. And he smoked cigarettes. And he said he knew Nigel well and they were friends.

Elias shrugged. Damn, from the description it was him…

— I don’t know. Maybe you dreamed it? Or did you create an imaginary friend?

Elias said it without malice, but Adam felt stupid. Damn, he must look like a madman! Being sure of the existence of a non-existent person is stranger than talking to chickens.

Adam decided to change the subject and end this awkward conversation. He smiled and moved closer. Elias raised his eyes for a moment, but then lowered them again.

— Why were you talking to a chicken?

Elias blushed again. A new surge of shame was so strong that he wanted to cry. Damn, why is Adam fixated on this? Elias swallowed before he could speak.

— Chickens need affection. Then they lay eggs better. That's why I often praise and stroke them.

He spoke quickly and made sharp gestures. Yes, Adam thought it was stupid. But at the same time, it was cute and funny. Maybe Michael was really his dream. But Elias was definitely real. And he would also be his light in this place.

— I also talk to animals sometimes! – Adam admitted, — But I didn't know that it had such a positive effect on them. I thought that animals didn't understand me.

Elias breathed a sigh of relief. It was still awkward. But, at least Adam didn't mock or scold him. He was kind. Elias felt trust and was finally able to look up. But, he wasn't looking at Adam, but to the side.

— Oh, animals understand people's tone and intonation very well! Chickens are really smart. They can form friendships with each other and…

Elias fell silent, because he started talking too much. Well, he was obsessed with chickens. It was too stupid to share this with anyone. But, Adam kept quiet and let him talk. So, he continued.

— And chickens can get attached to their owners. They are truly amazing birds.

A chicken ran by Elias’ feet. He caught it. The chicken did not resist.

— Do you want to pet it? – Elias suggested.

It was a very unexpected offer. But, Adam agreed. He came closer and began to gently stroke the chicken’s side. It made soft sounds and shook its head. Elias smiled broadly, glad that someone besides him was showing tenderness to chickens. He also began to stroke the chicken. Their hands almost touched.

And at that moment, Will saw them. He came to take measurements, as he had promised. But, he didn’t find Adam in the room. The omega tensed up and began to think that Adam had run away. He decided not to make a fuss and try to find Adam himself, so he went to the backyard.

There, fortunately, Will found Adam. And he witnessed the young omega’s lack of manners. Adam was too frank in his conversation with Elias. He stood too close, giggling and smiling. This was unacceptable! Omegas are supposed to be modest and reserved when talking to alphas! Adam’s bad behavior angered Will.

Will walked over to Adam and grabbed his elbow, pulling him towards him. Adam squealed in surprise. When he saw Will's angry face, he instantly turned pale. Elias also got scared and dropped the chicken. Elias didn't often see Will so... Angry. He didn't like it when someone was angry. Even if the anger wasn't directed at him, he still felt guilty.

— Adam! There you are. I was looking for you, – the older omega hissed.

Will still held Adam's elbow. He was squeezing the younger omega's hand so hard against the bruises. This made Adam wince. Elias looked at it with sympathy, but remained silent.

— Good morning... – Adam muttered, — I just went out to get some fresh air...

— And I see you found yourself a good interlocutor? – Will pointed at Elias.

— Yes… – Adam nodded barely perceptibly. He pulled the headscarf over his forehead, as if to hide from the older omega.

— I'm surprised Elias is doing nothing. I actually asked him to clean the chicken coop!

Elias's eyes widened. This was the first he'd heard of it! He hadn't seen Will at all this morning until this moment.

— But you didn't ask for it… And I cleaned the chicken coop yesterday, – Elias muttered, scratching his mustache.

Will put his hand to his forehead. His head ached again from the fact that everyone was doing the wrong thing he wanted.

— Maybe I didn't ask for it before. But I'm asking for it now! – he shouted and it was almost hysterical.

Elias realized that it was better not to go against the omega. He silently went to carry out the order. Although, in reality, it was a punishment. It was better to spend time alone with the chickens than to argue with Will.

Adam felt vulnerable when Elias left. But, Will finally let go of his hand. The place where the older omega had touched him hurt. Adam rubbed the spot.

— Come on. I have to take your measurements. You can't keep wearing my daughter's clothes and dirty them, – Will pointed to the small stain of dirt on the dress that the chicken had left.

Adam silently followed Will back into the room.

In the room, Will left a measuring tape, a notebook and a pen on the table. He asked Adam to stand up straight and not move. Will began to take measurements and write them down in the notebook. First, he measured the length of Adam's arms. Then, the circumference of his waist. Damn, he was so thin! Will hoped that if Adam ate well, he would gain at least a little weight and not look like a dystrophic.

Will stood behind Adam to measure his height. He pressed the measuring tape to the younger omega's back. But, the measuring tape didn't lie flat. Will frowned. This was because Adam was bending his back. Therefore, the older omega pressed on his back to make it straight.

— You don't have to talk to Elias anymore, – Will abruptly broke the silence.

— What? Why?

Adam turned his head in surprise. This made Will drop the measuring tape.

— Stand straight! – Will fixed the younger omega's head, — Because he's an alpha. And you're an omega. Friendship between alphas and omegas is impossible. If someone sees you together, they'll think badly of you. The fact that you're... Lovers. This is unacceptable for my son's future wife!

Adam blinked. He never thought that simple communication could be perceived as something bad… The conventions and traditions of high society increasingly displeased him and seemed alien to him.

— But why? I'm friends with my brother Lenny… He's my only friend. And he's an alpha, – Adam clutched his skirt in his hands.

Will finished taking measurements. He put the measuring tape in his pocket and closed the notebook. Will stood in front of Adam and took his chin. This time the touch was not rough. Adam immediately lowered his gaze, because he didn't like to look into his eyes.

— Lenny is your brother. This is different. You can only be friends with omegas of your same status. Do you understand?

Adam nodded his head several times.

— Great. I will make you a perfect and obedient wife for my son, – Will smiled and pulled his cheek.

The measurements were finished. The educational conversation with Adam was held. So Will decided to leave. Adam was offended by his rudeness and stuck his tongue out.

The Hansen family had been standing outside the gate of their yard for half an hour. It was hot and they were sweating, but they continued to stand.

They were going to go to the city and look at the houses that were for sale. For this reason, they wore their best clothes so as not to look like paupers and no one would laugh at them. Duncan even called a taxi. It was the first time he had called a taxi! This made Max happy and run around his parents while waiting for a taxi. Lenny remained sad.

Alana and Margo walked past them. Behind them walked a small herd of cows. They stared at the Hansen family.

Alana was a lonely omega and had lived in the village for a long time. She kept cows and earned money from it. Alana was not friends with other people from the village and preferred to spend time alone. She never made fun of the Hansen family and always greeted them if she saw them.

Margo appeared in this village 5 years ago. Alana found her in the middle of a field with a head injury while herding cows. At first, the omega thought it was a corpse and got scared. But, Alana got closer and realized that the unfamiliar woman in the field had a pulse and was breathing weakly. Alana took her home and took care of her. A few days later, Margo regained consciousness. But, she didn't remember anything except her name... It also turned out that Margo was an alpha. Alana offered to live with her and help take care of the cows until Margo remembered her past.

And so, 5 years have passed. They still live together, and Margo has not remembered anything. She was not particularly worried about it, because together with Alana she felt happy.

— Good morning, – Alana greeted her family, — You are so beautifully dressed. Are you going to the theater?

Duncan smiled and looked at his black dress. He had once worn it to a funeral. But it was still the best dress in his wardrobe.

— No, we are going to buy a house in the city! – Markus answered happily.

Alana and Margo looked at each other.

— Where did you get the money? – Margo asked.

Meanwhile, one of the cows made a rustic pizza right in the middle of the street. Because of this, Max started laughing like a donkey. So Markus hit him on the head. They will live in the city, so his sons must behave well!

— Adam is getting married. To the son of Hannibal Lecter! They gave us a very good ransom, – Duncan said with a smile.

— Wow, – Margo opened her mouth.

This was really unexpected. Adam was very inconspicuous. How did a rich family choose him? And would they treat him well? This worried Margo.

— And Adam is happy about this? – the alpha asked.

— No! – Lenny shouted.

For this, Markus pushed him.

— Of course he is happy! – Markus tried to refute his son's words and smiled, — Lenny is just not in the mood that he had to get up early.

And this was already suspicious... But, Margo decided not to get into someone else's life. Because she could not deal with her life and past.

— Great... Congratulations. We'll go, – Margo took Alana's hand.

Alana realized that her alpha was uncomfortable. She hurried away, calling the cows after her. Alana didn’t want Margo to have a migraine. It often happened when she was nervous. These migraines were caused by that terrible head injury 5 years ago.

Alana kept thinking about what kind of monster could inflict such a terrible injury on a person and leave her to die in the middle of a field…

***

Meanwhile, on the other side of town.

Mason sat in his dark, scary mansion. He was having breakfast in the spacious living room at a long table. Today he was eating pancakes and drinking expensive wine. A servant stood silently next to him, holding a towel, ready to carry out any orders of the capricious omega.

Yes, Mason was an omega. But, after his father’s death 5 years ago, his winery business passed into Mason’s complete control.

Mason had to sacrifice something for this… He had a younger sister, Margo. She was an alpha. Despite the fact that she was younger, the inheritance should have gone to her, because she was an alpha. Therefore, Mason got rid of her…

Or thought he got rid of her.

Mason drank all the wine, so he tapped his glass. The servant immediately took the bottle from the table to pour more wine.

— By the way, did you hear that Hannibal found a wife for his son? They are getting married soon! – Mason asked, leaning back in his chair.

— No, I didn’t hear, – the servant answered quietly.

— You are constantly out of touch with events, – Mason rolled his eyes.

The servant was silent.

— And Hannibal didn’t invite me! – Mason hit the table, — Why didn’t he invite me? Is he disrespecting me?

The servant shrugged.

Mason's father had a long-standing feud with Hannibal Previously, Mason's father was the best winemaker in all of Turkey! But, Hannibal quickly rose from the bottom and also began to produce wine. He took over Mason's father's city and he remained in the shadows. The income from the winery decreased. Their family was forced to save. Mason's father planted parasites in Hannibal's gardens many times, but he always got out of it!

Perhaps this is the reason why Hannibal did not invite Mason... But it was still insulting! Mason is not his father! He did not do anything bad to Hannibal. He generally considered himself a very kind and good person. He should be at this celebration.

Mason abruptly got up from the table.

— I will go to this wedding! Let it be a surprise. Get ready, we are going shopping. I need a new beautiful dress. I want to be more beautiful than the bride.

Mason ran to get ready. The servant followed him.

***

It was evening.

The Hansen family looked at several houses that were for sale. They especially liked a small house with a garden in the center of town near the market. Duncan thought that he could grow fruit in the garden and then sell it at the market. Markus and their sons could also find work as loaders at the market.

The house was small, but it had all the furniture and appliances. This attracted the couple. The furniture was not new, but it was better than in their previous house. There were large rugs in all the rooms and many paintings with landscapes. Also, Lenny and Max could have separate rooms and no longer sleep together.

They paid for the house and decided to spend the night there and bring their things the next day. The couple was tired, so they stayed lying on the sofa in the living room. Max walked around the house with interest and looked into every corner. He tried to get Lenny involved in the fun, but he didn't want to.

Lenny’s attention was drawn to the landline phone on the end table in the hallway. He wanted to call Lecter’s house to talk to Adam. But, he didn’t know the number. Lenny decided to ask his parents.

Markus looked up when his son entered the living room and stopped in the doorway.

— Do you need something? – the old alpha asked.

— Yes. Do you have Hannibal’s phone number?

— No. Why do you need it? – Markus scratched his beard.

— I want to call Adam… – Lenny muttered.

— No, I don’t have his number.

— Are you serious? – Lenny said with visible aggression, — Why didn’t you write down his number?

Markus exhaled heavily. He hadn’t thought Lenny would have such a hard time dealing with the fact that Adam was now living separately. Duncan saw his husband’s tension and took his hand.

— I forgot about it.

Lenny tried to control himself. He didn't have the strength to argue. He was silent for a few moments, still standing in the doorway, before he started talking again:

— Okay... But can we go visit Adam tomorrow?

Markus wanted to answer, but Duncan did it for him. The old omega hoped that the gentle tone would calm his son a little:

— No, dear. Tomorrow we have to apply for your new school.

Lenny lowered his head in disappointment.

— And the day after tomorrow?

— No... We have to buy new clothes. Your father has to look for a job in the market. And many, many other things.

— So we can only meet Adam on the wedding day?

— Yes...

Duncan wanted to say something more. But, Lenny left. He took the room that Max had chosen for himself. His younger brother was crying, but Lenny ignored it and closed himself off.

Chapter Text

Wedding day.

A wedding in Turkey is always a very grand and large-scale event. Many people are invited to the wedding and a lot of food is prepared. Families try to organize everything in the best way to delight guests and make this day a memorable one.

Hannibal and Will wanted to hold a wedding in accordance with ancient traditions. That is, the omegas were to celebrate separately from the alphas.

The couple spared no expense. They wanted the wedding to have the most exquisite dishes and for Adam to have a dress like a princess. They loved to show off and show off their wealth, in fact.

Preparations for the celebration began before dawn. The house resembled an anthill, because everyone was bustling and doing their own thing. The cooks prepared large portions of traditional food in the kitchen. The servants decorated the yard and the places where the ceremony was to take place.

Adam was woken up at 5 in the morning. He had to wash up, say a prayer, and change into his dress before he went out to meet the guests.

He was sick at the thought that today was his wedding day. He would belong to an alpha he had never seen. What kind of alpha would his be? A good one? A bad one? He didn’t know. Adam was very pale and could barely hold back his tears. This place, this family, all of it still seemed foreign to him. He hadn’t gotten used to it in a week. He had barely left his room the whole time, and only talked to Abigail. She was the only person he didn’t feel tense with. In the evenings, he cried and thought about his home.

Adam was nervous about having to sit in a noisy ceremony all day and be the center of attention. He hated noise and crowds. He didn’t know how he would survive looking at people’s happy faces while his heart was broken.

The only positive thing about the wedding was that he would finally see his brothers again. He didn’t really want to see his parents. Adam was still resentful that they had ruined his plans for life.

Several maids were circling around Adam. They were helping him put on his dress. Adam stood motionless, like a mannequin. He didn’t even raise his arms or turn to make their job easier. The maids had to ask him to do it.

The dress was a true work of art. Will had chosen its design. The dress had to fit Adam perfectly, because it was made especially for him. The seamstresses worked day and night to make the dress in a week. For a moment, Adam was even delighted. In fact, Adam had never thought he would wear something like this. He thought dresses like this only existed in fairy tales. He felt a little ashamed and thought he didn’t deserve such luxury.

The dress was red. Red symbolized innocence in Turkish culture, unlike other cultures, where the symbol of innocence is white. The skirt was lush and long. The skirt was embroidered with golden vines, as a symbol of his new family’s business. The dress had long sleeves that hung to the floor if you lowered your arms. The sleeves were also embroidered with vines. The dress had a high collar and hid the omega's pale neck and scent gland.

It seemed to Adam that an hour had passed since the start of the change. The maids were very slow. They were afraid to damage the dress, so they did everything very carefully. Will gave them very strict instructions about the dress and said that they would be punished if they damaged it.

The maids stood on different sides and adjusted the ties on the sleeves. Adam looked out the window without interest. Where the chicken coop was.

The door opened. Adam did not see who came in, because his back was to the door.

He tensed up, because he thought that it was Will who came in. The older omega would definitely scold him again over trifles! This would make his head hurt even more. But, he heard a familiar voice, from which his heart melted:

— Adam…?

Omega turned his head and saw his brother Lenny standing shyly in the doorway. Lenny was very well-dressed today. He was wearing a new white robe and baggy pants, and a fez on his head. His parents had spent a lot of money to make their family look good at the wedding.

Adam shouted with joy. He broke free from the maids' arms and ran to his brother. He almost tripped over his skirt. The maids watched in horror, hoping the omega wouldn't ruin his dress.

Adam nearly knocked his brother off his feet and pulled him into a tight hug. He put his hands on his shoulders and stood on his tiptoes to make it easier to hug. Although Adam was older, he was shorter than Lenny.

— Lenny!

Adam squealed, unable to contain his emotions. Lenny put his hands on his back and hugged him. It seemed like they hadn't seen each other in ages. Their hug lasted more than a minute.

When Adam finally let go of Lenny, they were both out of breath. They were holding each other too tightly. There were silly smiles on their faces.

They wanted to say so much to each other, but they couldn't find the words. So they just kept quiet and looked at each other. Lenny was not used to seeing his brother in such an expensive, flowing dress. He looked very handsome. The maids decided not to waste time. They went up to Adam and continued to tie his sleeves.

— You… So handsome, – Lenny said, scratching his head. He was always awkward with compliments. This beautiful omega deserved more than one word to describe his beauty today. Lenny felt ashamed that he had not been poetic enough.

Adam smiled. He looked down at his flowing skirt.

— Yes, the dress is really very beautiful. But… I missed you so much! How are you? How are Max? And how are your parents?

Lenny exhaled. He didn't want to go into details. He just wanted to see Adam and find out how he was doing. He didn't have much time anyway. He ran out of the room where the other alphas were sitting and lied that he needed to go to the bathroom. He went to find Adam himself, to see him. If he stayed here too long, they would start looking for him. And then his parents might scold him for it.

— We bought a house in the city. Parents promised that I would be able to see you often. Mom grows cucumbers in the backyard. Dad got a job as a loader at the market. Max and I will go to a new school, – the young alpha described the latest events very briefly, — And what about you, Adam? How is your life in the new family? No one offends you?

Lenny looked at the maids with suspicion. But, they were silent and did not even listen to them. They did not care what they were talking about and they only wanted to do their job.

Omega smiled when he heard about the changes in the family's life. It was good that his brothers would have a better life. Of course, this did not completely remove his pain and fear, but it made it a little easier.

— I'm fine. Yes, I'm not used to this place yet... But this family treats me well. Don't worry about me.

Adam lied. He didn't want to burden Lenny and make him feel sorry for him. His brother was too young for that. Adam didn’t want him to know about his experiences and how he felt like an outsider. He didn’t want Lenny to know that he had been crying at night all week. He didn’t want Lenny to know that Will was being mean to him. Besides, there was nothing Lenny could do to help him. They couldn’t change anything now.

Lenny exhaled and nodded. He didn’t understand that Adam was lying. Adam didn’t look scared, hungry, or beaten. Just a little tired. Maybe he really wasn’t bad here and the young alpha was just making a fool of himself. Lenny wanted to believe that.

Adam wanted to ask his brother more questions, but Will came into the room. He wanted to check on the preparing. He clenched his jaw when he saw Lenny. What was this boy doing here? He should be with the other alphas! Will wanted to scold him, but he held it back. He had to be good in Lenny’s eyes. Will gave a sweet smile before he started to speak:

— Boy! – Will couldn’t remember the name of his new relative. He didn’t think it mattered, — Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be with the other alphas and eating Turkish delight?

Will slapped Lenny on the shoulder. Lenny hung his head in shame at being exposed. Embarrassing himself in front of someone other than his parents was more embarrassing than being embarrassed in front of his parents. Adam was tense as he watched their interaction. He expected Will to start scolding Lenny, but he continued to smile.

— Sorry… – Lenny muttered, — I just wanted to see my brother.

— I understand. But we have to follow tradition. Preparing a bride for the wedding is strictly an omega thing. Well, don't bother and go back to your father and brother.

— Okay…

Will put his hand on his back and pushed him towards the doorway. Before leaving, Lenny turned to Adam and looked at him sadly. He wanted to spend more time with him… But he had to go.

Will closed the door behind him so that no one would disturb them anymore. The maids, meanwhile, had finally finished their work. Will approached Adam and smiled. He was glad that the dress suited Adam, emphasizing his beauty and youth. Will leaned down and left a kiss on the younger omega's forehead.

— You look beautiful. Like a rose. The perfect wife for my son. But make your face more cheerful. You're at a wedding, not a funeral.

Will pulled his cheeks.

— My face won't be visible under the veil anyway... – Adam muttered.

Will rolled his eyes. Why was Adam spoiling such a wonderful day with a bad mood? Will decided not to pay attention to it. He wanted this day to be filled with joy. Therefore, Will decided to give a gift that he had brought with him. The omega took an elegant necklace decorated with rubies from his pocket. It matched the dress perfectly. Will put it on Adam's neck.

The younger omega carefully touched the expensive jewelry. It was still embarrassing to accept expensive things as gifts. But, now he had to get used to it.

— I wanted to give you a family jewel. A ring. I got it from my mother, and my mother from her mother. But... I lost it.

Will refused to admit that the ring was actually somewhere in Gaby and Nigel's former room. Nigel forbade taking anything out of the room, not even this.

— Thank you. This necklace is very beautiful, – Adam said quietly.

The young omega's outfit was complete thanks to the necklace. There was one last important element left.

Will took the veil from the table and carefully put it on Adam's head, hiding his face. The veil was red and translucent. Under the veil, Adam could see everything perfectly. But it was difficult for others to see his sad face.

— I think you are ready to go out to the guests now, – Will said solemnly, extending his hand to the younger omega.

Adam hesitated. He did not want to leave the room. But, he could not hide here forever. Therefore, he put his cold hand in Will's palm and allowed himself to be led to the guests.

***

Will led Adam into the courtyard, where the celebration was already underway. There were several low tables in a row, on which stood traditional food with a lot of spices. The guests were sitting on cushions. They were omegas unfamiliar to Adam, who came from rich families.

Everyone was discussing something noisily and fell silent when Adam appeared. Everyone began to look at him like chickens at a farmer with millet. Adam felt embarrassed. He wanted to hide from the prying eyes. But Will, on the contrary, looked pleased. He felt proud that Adam's dress had aroused everyone's admiration.

Will solemnly introduced Adam to everyone:

— This is Adam. From now on, he is my daughter-in-law and a member of the family. May his marriage be happy and he will be a good wife!

After his words, everyone clapped their hands and began to say wishes for a happy marriage and many children. Adam felt even more embarrassed and ashamed, as if he had embarrassed himself in public. He clutched his skirt in his hands. His face twisted into a grimace, as if he had bitten into a lemon. It was a good thing no one saw it.

Then, Will led Adam to a separate table from the guests. As a bride, he was supposed to sit with his family. Duncan and Abigail were already waiting for him at the table.

Duncan smiled broadly when he finally saw his son. He pushed the veil from his face and began to kiss him. Adam grimaced because his mother reeked of alcohol. Omegas were forbidden to drink, but Duncan secretly brought a small bottle of cheap whiskey and drank it anyway.

— My son! You shine brighter than any star today, – Duncan said, finally letting his son go.

— I'm glad to see you too... – Adam said through gritted teeth. He wiped his face with the sleeve of his dress from his mother's saliva.

Will watched this with rolled eyes.

Abigail also wanted to congratulate Adam. She took his hand.

— Congratulations on your wedding day! You are very beautiful today. I hope I have the same dress for my wedding.

Adam smiled sadly at her.

«And I hope your future wedding will be with your lover» – he wanted to say.

Abigail continued to say something about how she liked his dress. Duncan started to say something too. And so did Will. But Adam wasn’t listening to them. It was all a buzz in his head. In addition to the stress, he felt sick from the heat. The fabric of the dress was too thick for this weather. Adam could feel himself sweating and the fabric sticking to his body, and his throat was dry. He took the sherbet from the table and took a few sips. He grimaced because it was too sweet. Or, he thought it was too sweet. Everything was annoying him now.

Then the wedding went on boringly. Everyone just ate and talked. Also, musicians came and started playing live music, sitting in the corner. Sometimes guests would come up to Adam and greet him and try to start a conversation. Adam didn't seem friendly, so the conversations ended quickly.

Everyone except him was having fun. Especially Duncan. The old omega, while everyone was distracted, took out another small bottle of whiskey and poured it into his drink glass.

Then, they were informed that the marriage had been concluded. According to tradition, two witnesses presented Adam and Nigel before the priest. They said their consent to the marriage instead of them. Hearing this, everyone was delighted and began to shout congratulations.

But, the fun was abruptly interrupted.

Mason entered the courtyard!

His appearance was like a thunderclap in the middle of broad daylight. Everyone immediately fell silent. Even the musicians stopped playing.

He was wearing a very tight red dress with open shoulders. The scarf barely covered his hair. Will was shocked! Even his pajamas were not as open as Mason's dress!

Well, Mason did exactly what he wanted - he made an impression.

Will was angry. Neither he nor his husband had invited Mason. He had a bad reputation. Everyone had long suspected that he was responsible for his sister's disappearance. How did he get here in the first place? Why did the guards let him in? Will would fire them!

Mason staggered a little. He had drunk a lot before coming here.

— Will, I guess you forgot to send me an invitation? But it's okay! I knew everyone would be happy to see me, that's why I came!

Mason took a bottle of whiskey from Duncan and began to drink. Duncan was shocked by such impudence and could not say anything.

Will got up from his seat and went to Mason. He smiled tightly. Will wanted to hit the uninvited guest, but he had to show restraint, because everyone was looking at him.

— Yes, Mason. I forgot to send you an invitation, – Will lied to him.

— I guess old age takes its toll, Will. You already have memory problems. I hope this doesn't bother Hannibal and he doesn't find someone younger and prettier than you. For example, your daughter-in-law.

Mason laughed and pushed Will on the shoulder.

Adam, meanwhile, watched their quarrel. He did not understand what was happening. He leaned towards Abigail:

— Who is this?

— Mason, – Abigail answered quietly, — His father was a competitor of my father. They quarreled a lot. Mason took over the hatred for us from his father. That's why he came to ruin the wedding.

Adam frowned. That sounded pathetic!

There was a short pause between Mason and Will. Will was seething with anger, but he was silent. Everyone looked at Mason like he was a fool. It angered him. He hated when someone showed him respect!

— So why are you all looking at me? Aren't you happy to see me? I bought this dress to come here, and you didn't even appreciate it!

Mason finished his whiskey and threw the bottle at the guests. Fortunately, the bottle didn’t hit anyone and fell to the floor. The glass shattered into a thousand small pieces with a crash. Several guests screamed in fright and stood up from their seats. Adam pressed himself against Duncan. He hadn’t thought the wedding would be so… eventful.

Mason picked up the cup and prepared to throw it again. Will couldn’t take it anymore. He grabbed Mason’s hand.

— Mason! Stop it! I’m tired of your family ruining everything! You can poison my husband’s fields, but you won’t poison my life! – Will closed on a high note.

Mason dropped his glass.

— It’s your family ruining everything! It’s because of your husband and his wine that my father has become a poor! My business is rotting because of him!

— It’s not even your business! It belongs to your sister, whom you killed!

At these words, sweat broke out on Mason’s forehead.

— I didn't kill Margot! She disappeared 5 years ago!

Adam thought when he heard this. Margo, who disappeared 5 years ago? There was a woman with the same name in his village who appeared in the village under mysterious circumstances 5 years ago… And she looks like Mason.

While he was thinking, a fight broke out between Mason and Will. Mason was the first to punch the omega in the face. Will couldn’t stand it anymore and answered him in kind. In a moment, they knocked each other to the floor and started fighting.

Duncan shouted:

— Finally, something fun!

Adam grabbed his head, not knowing what to do.

The guards came running and barely separated the two omegas. Mason began to be led out the door, holding his hands tightly. He struggled, wanting to continue the fight and shouted threats:

— I will take revenge! Will, you will regret humiliating me in front of everyone! You and your family will pay for my poverty!

Will no longer listened to his threats. He left the guests to go home because they were doing a nose job and he was bleeding.

The guests were buzzing like a beehive. They were discussing what had happened a moment ago.

Adam still felt confused. It was an unpleasant situation. Seeing his tension, Duncan patted him on the shoulder reassuringly.

— Don't worry. Fights happen sometimes, – the omega said calmly.

The celebration continued without any fun at all. Several guests left. No one talked. Only the musicians played, but not as actively as at the beginning. Will returned only an hour later.

***

Night fell imperceptibly on the city. The bright scorching sun was replaced by a pale moon. The sky was clear, which opened up a magical view of the stars. On any other day, Adam would have looked at it with admiration.

Tonight, the night meant tragedy for him. This meant that the wedding was approaching its final stage – the wedding night.

It scared Adam so much that he tried not to think about it during the day. And then, when it came time for the wedding night, he felt like he was losing his mind from fear. He was sweating even more than when it was hot. He could barely breathe.

He was led into the room to the joyful cries of the guests. Someone showered him with rose petals and coins for good luck. This made him feel even worse. He felt like a donkey being led to be sold. The owners were happy, but the animal was not. The shame was so strong that he cried.

Adam was led into the room and the door was closed behind him. He felt trapped. He wanted to escape, but he knew he couldn’t.

The omega stood in the middle of the room and froze like a statue. He lowered his head, waiting for the inevitable. Tears continued to flow down his face, making the veil stick to his skin again. It blocked his already labored breathing. He didn't want to look at the new room he would be living in with his husband.

The door creaked open behind him. Adam shuddered.

He heard heavy, slow footsteps. As if a wild beast was sneaking up on him. It seemed to him that his alpha was walking very slowly on purpose to mock him!

He didn't look up. If Adam could, he wouldn't open his eyes until the end of the wedding night.

Adam felt his alpha standing in front of him. He could hear his heavy breathing, like that of an elk. And he could smell the sharp, unpleasant smell of alcohol. It made Adam wince. The alpha grabbed the edge of Adam's veil and lifted it. He took Adam by the chin and lifted him.

Adam's eyes widened. He saw... Michael? The gardener he had spoken to a few days ago and then couldn't find. He was dressed in traditional red clothing. His face was also red from alcohol. Wasn't he Adam's dream? Why was he here? He hit the gardener on the arm and took a step back.

— Ouch, – Nigel winced at the unexpected blow.

— Michael! What the hell! Why are you here? Where is my husband? – Adam squeaked.

— Well… – Nigel exhaled heavily. He rubbed his sweaty forehead. His voice sounded very drawn out from the alcohol, — I am your husband.

Adam arched his eyebrows in misunderstanding. His headache was getting worse.

— I saw you before the wedding day. I decided to lie because I didn’t want you to tell your parents everything and they would scold me, – Nigel spread his hands.

That was so stupid!

— You’re an idiot! Why? – Adam shouted. He could no longer contain the emotions that had accumulated over the day, — You’re almost 30 years old, and you’re still afraid of your parents! You’re stupider than I imagined.

Nigel rubbed the bridge of his nose. Adam’s voice sounded like the squeak of a mosquito to him. He wasn’t really listening to what he was saying.

— Let’s just get this over with, – Nigel interrupted him.

He took a few confident steps forward. Adam was frightened and screamed, jumping in the other direction. However, it turned out that Nigel was not coming towards him. He went to the bed and began to rummage in his pockets. Alpha took out a large needle from there. He pricked his finger, a stream of blood flowed from there. Adam could not look at it and closed his eyes. Blood always disgusted him. Nigel did not even move. He was too drunk to feel the pain. Nigel wiped the blood on the white sheet that covered the bed. Now there was a blood stain on the bed, as if confirming their wedding night.

Adam looked at this with wide eyes. He could not say a word.

It was a worthy act.

Nigel wrapped his finger in a handkerchief that was also in his pocket. He got out of bed on shaky legs.

— That's it. Good night.

With these words he left the room, slamming the door loudly. Adam was left alone again.

He fell on the bed helplessly. His heartbeat was still racing. It made him feel like he had a ringing in his ears. Adam stared at the ceiling. He thought he was going to suffer tonight. That he was going to experience pain and humiliation. But… His alpha didn’t even touch him! He just left a stain of his own blood and left.

It seemed like he really didn’t want this marriage either.

Maybe it was for the best. It would be good if he didn’t touch and insult Adam. The only downside was that he seemed to be an alcoholic. But, that could be dealt with.

Adam rolled over onto his side. Maybe Nigel wasn’t as bad as the other alphas. Maybe he could love him.

Unnoticed to himself, Adam finally fell asleep in his new bed, right in his shoes. Married life had started well for him.

***

After the «wedding night», Nigel went to the henhouse, where he hid several bottles of beer.

The wedding ceremony was difficult for him. He was not happy with the dancing, music and congratulations. The wishes of happiness from the guests drained him. He knew that he would not be happy with anyone else except Gabi.

At this wedding, he constantly remembered his first wedding. He remembered how beautiful and smiling Gabi was then. He remembered that then the wedding was not held according to the old traditions. Alphas and omegas celebrated together, so he could see Gabi all day and share the joy with her. She was the one he chose himself. That wedding was not as magnificent as this one. But it was sincere.

These memories were so painful that he could hardly hold back his tears. Therefore, from the very morning he drank a lot of alcohol, hoping to drown out the pain. By the end of the evening he was completely drunk.

He planned this idea with the needle from the beginning. He didn't want to touch his new husband. And he knew he didn't want to be touched either.

So now, he was sitting alone in the chicken coop and drinking beer. The chickens were clucking quietly next to him. The handkerchief on his finger was soaked with blood. But he didn’t pay attention to it.

The last lights went out in the house. Today, many guests stayed overnight. Finally, everyone fell asleep.

He also wanted to sleep. But not in the chicken coop. Therefore, he decided to go to his old room, where he lived with Gabi.

He barely got there and fell several times. Nigel turned on the light in the room, where everything had been in its place for several years. There was an unpleasant smell from the layers of dust.

Nigel could not hold back his tears as he looked around the room for the hundredth time. Memories covered him again. Being immersed in memories at that moment did not feel like something pleasant. But as if he had been dipped headlong into cold water and could not breathe. He sank to the floor, leaning his back against the wardrobe. He felt a sharp shame for having been married a second time. When she was dying, he swore he would never marry again. It was a betrayal.

He couldn't see Gabi, but it seemed to him that he felt her presence. It seemed to him that she was looking at him with condemnation.

— Gabi, I'm sorry! – he addressed his dead wife, — I didn't want this marriage. I couldn't do anything.

But there was silence in response. The empty room didn't answer him.

***

Mason was very angry. Not only had he not been accepted at the party, but he had been disgraced! They had even beaten him.

He was sitting in a red chair and drinking wine. It was deep night outside the window, but he couldn't sleep from anger. The servant held an ice pack to his eye so that there wouldn't be a bruise.

— This is terrible! – Mason shouted.

The servant almost dropped the ice pack from surprise.

— The Lecters family ruined my reputation! I must take revenge!

Mason leaned back in his chair. He began to think of an evil plan, tapping his fingers on his glass. The servant was silent.

— I must disgrace them too... How about stealing Adam? Their new precious omega, – he looked at the servant, but the latter was silent again.

Mason got up from his chair. He began to pace around the room, because this way he could better express his thoughts.

— I will steal him! But I will arrange everything so that everyone will think that he ran away with his lover! The Lecter family will never get rid of this disgrace!

Mason laughed evilly. Now he had a plan.
