Work Text:
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics > Wings spread, you find yourself flying through the air at top speeds. You do the occasional spin and roll as you revel in the feeling of the wind flying past you. Diving through the clouds you do a lazy fly-by around the area.
/mot/Sensory Transducers > The area in question being a deserted wasteland. The land is filled with desert sand with only the occasional oasis filled with trees to break up the landscape. You on the other hand are wearing your signature blue collared shirt and stretchy jeans. You have your trusty fedora you found a while ago adorned atop your head. Your clothes are slightly messy with Oil from your latest feeding session though.
/psy/Obediance Program > You’d received word that there was a secret human outpost stationed somewhere around this location and were sent by X to neutralize it, or failing to do so provide information on it’s security and capabilities discreetly. All the flying around and exploring has absolutely nothing to do with your mission though and is an absolute waste of time.
/fys/Reward Function[Medium:Success] > Hey! Flying’s fun, and you’ve been unimaginably bored for like ever! The virtual adrenaline being pumped throughout your system brings an almost addictive tingle rushing through your spine, spreading and dancing along your nerves up your arms and legs.
/psy/Self Autonomy[Challenging:Success] > While we should indeed stay focused, taking a couple minutes to enjoy the feeling of flying will only be helpful for you. It’s important to take a few moments to yourself every now and then in order to stay effective.
/desc/Anomalous DD > Whilst you were scanning the area you ended up noticing something..someone weird. You paused in the middle of the air and zoomed your optics closer only to find what you could only describe as an Anomalous Disassembly Drone. She stood at about nearly 3 metres tall you reckon, dwarfing the height of even the tallest Drones you’ve seen. She seems to have 2 sets of arms and legs for some reason. The 2nd set of legs stood hanging limply just above the ground, it looked to be almost dead in terms of function. Oh, and the most glaring difference, she glows a bright bloody red instead of the sickly yellow you’re used to seeing in your fellow DDs.
/fys/Nanite Regeneration[Medium:Success] > You highly doubt they’re actually lifeless. They’d have been either healed or cut off and removed by now. There’s no reason she’d have kept them.
/fys/Reward Function[Challenging:Success] > She’s not wearing any clothes. This is a detail your artificial endocrinal system would like you to be very aware of. She is a very tall lady who is decidedly not wearing anything.
/int/Computed Theory[Medium:Success] > You don’t think there are any clothes that would even fit a Drone of her..stature.
/mot/Emotive Control[Formidable:Failure] > You can feel a small flush spread across your visor.
/psy/Self Autonomy[Challenging:Success] > Can you like..not? This really isn’t the time for such thoughts.
/fys/Reward Function > Hey, I’m just calling it how it is buddy.
/int/Atomic Storage[Impossible:Failure] > You have absolutely no record of who she is or what that model of Drone is either. This isn’t even a matter of being a corrupted memory, there just straight up is no record of her model.
/fys/Solver Core > Don’t engage with her. Trust me, it’s not gonna end well for you.
- I should ignore her and keep flying. I’ve got a job to do.
- I should go and talk to her. I’m curious who she is.
- I should fight her. She clearly isn’t a standard DD which means she’s probably an enemy.
HDB@41X011100011:~$ I should go and talk to her. I’m curious who she is.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Medium:Success] > Good, you just met her after all. It wouldn’t be good to assume she’s an enemy right off the bat.
/fys/Hunter’s Directive[Challenging:Success] > That and she looks fearsome. You can detect something dangerous from her. Proceed with caution, keep your guard up.
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics > You glide down towards her, landing carefully on the ground.
/desc/Anomalous DD > She turns to you, appearing absolutely unsurprised by your appearance. She crosses her top set of arms before saying “Why— have you interrupted— me?”. There are noticeable pauses between certain words in her sentence.
/int/Computed Theory[Easy:Success] > Huh, she must’ve known we saw her. Impressive senses! Wonder what’s with the pauses though, an error with her vocal processors?
/mot/Software Connection[Challenging:Success] > Probably not. The pauses here do not emulate what a sudden cut off of audio sounds like. These ones are noticeably only occurring between words, suggesting that she might have control over them.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Legendary:Success] > There is the subtle stench of loneliness emanating from each word. It’s subtle, nearly undetectable and most definitely buried, but present all the same. It seeps through every pause of her sentence like fungus spreading through cracks, emanating and diffusing through the air. This one hasn’t talked to people in a long time.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Easy:Success] > She doesn’t seem happy about you being her, or interrupting whatever she was doing before.
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Challenging:Success] > You should tread carefully, something tells you that she is easily angered.
- “I wanted to know who you are. I’ve never seen something like you before”
- “Have you seen a Human settlement nearby by any chance?”
- “When’s the last time you’ve talked to someone?”
HDB@41X011100011:~$ “I wanted to know who you are. I’ve never seen something like you before”
/desc/Anomalous DD > Her stare somehow goes colder. “Waste of time” she grumbles out harshly, she gives you a venomous glare, slowly walking up to you.
/mot/Emotive Control[Formidable:Failure] > You are forced to stare up at this behemoth of a Drone. A nervous sweat unconsciously breaks out on your visor. You feel afraid.
/psy/Amygdalar Model > Those two emotions make up an interesting concoction in your Core.
/mot/Sensory Transducers[Challenging:Success] > You notice she pauses slightly at the Oil splotches on your clothes.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Medium:Success] > Her glare becomes noticeably much more venomous at that.
/desc/Anomalous DD > “There is— nothing you need— to know about me—useless drone.”. Each word is delivered with extreme hostility. She glowers at you with the force of a dying star.
/psy/Obediance Program[Challenging:Success] > Hey, who does she think she is calling us useless?! We’ve been hard at work since day 1 and Successfully taken control of our sector with almost no difficulty! We’re f**king good at our job!
/psy/Self Autonomy[Challenging:Success] > Her glare is intimidating, but nothing you can’t handle. Assert yourself, you cannot let this stand!
/fys/Solver Core > Wait, do-
HDB@41X011100011:~$ “I am not useless! I’ve been at the top of my game since the day I was deployed and our team has been making great progress in our sector! Who are you to call my ability into question?!”
/desc/Anomalous DD > She grabs you by the neck very tightly using one of her hands, the other is transformed into a pickaxe and held directly against where your Core would be.
/fys/Steel Nerves[Medium:Success] > The sting of the pickaxe against your chest is uncomfortable but nothing that’s super painful.
/fys/Hunter’s Directive[Challenging:Success] > She has you in her grasp! Strike at her, kill her while she’s distracted. RIP OUT HER CORE AND FEED IT TO HER!!!
/mot/Clock Speed[Medium:Success] > This would be the best opportunity to get a cheap shot while she’s distracted. Your reaction speed would be sufficient to escape in time.
/fys/Solver Core[Challenging:Success] > Don’t! Just...wait a little. She won’t kill you yet.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Challenging:Success] > Uhhh, no you definitely feel a lot of murderous intent from her.

/psy/Amygdalar Model[Medium:Success] > You’ve obviously hit a nerve there, but something made her stay her hand. Possibly the importance of whatever it is she’s doing?
/psy/Obediance Program[Challenging:Success] > That was the face of someone desperately trying to get back to work. Whatever she’s doing is clearly related to her job.

/psy/Obediance Program[Medium:Success] > It must be whoever her leader is. I wonder if she would have a squad or not.

HDB@41X011100011:~$ “A Human settlement right? I’ve got orders to find and neutralize them as well.”
/desc/Anomalous DD > She turns around to face you fully this time. This is the first time that she has looked at you without extreme malice and disgust colouring her face. “You as well? Perhaps— you’re not as— worthless as you seem.” She looks contemplatively at you.
/int/Argument Parser > Well, that’s a backhanded compliment!
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Challenging:Success] > Probably the best you’re ever gonna get from her. She seems like she’s despised what you are from sight.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Challenging:Success] > It’s definitely not something personal with you. She doesn’t seem to know who you are. Perhaps her dislike of you stems from something more core to her, like a certain belief or moral judgement. It’s the only thing you can think of that could justify her intense dislike of you without knowing you.
/int/Computed Theory > You still wanna know just who exactly this “Majesty” of hers is. That’s an awfully big title for her to be throwing around like that.
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Formidable:Success] > If you’re gonna talk to her, start with the ones most related to her current job. It’ll get her talking and then you can ease into other questions. In order, options 2, 3, 5, 4 and maybe we just don’t do 1.
- “I’m beginning to think I know why you’re so alone.”
- “Why aren’t you using your wings to go and search from the skies? Actually, how are you searching for them?”

/desc/Anomalous DD > “I don’t— have wings. I use— sensors.” She says simply, before going back to staring at the sand in concentration.
/int/Computed Theory[Challenging:Success] > That’s what she was doing earlier! She wasn’t just standing around, she was trying to sense something. But what? Judging by the fact that she’s staring at the ground it can’t be anything visual based, which rules out all electromagnetic frequencies, like radio and such. Maybe one of the other senses, hearing? No, but if her hearing was that advanced that she could hear a settlement from miles away, we would’ve overloaded her audio processors by just talking to her. Hmm, maybe vibration sensors to detect movement from the ground? She does seem to be focused hard on the sand there.

/mot/Clock Speed[Medium:Success] > One of them? What does she mean by one of them?
/int/Argument Parser[Medium:Success] > Is she implying that there are other types of Disassembly Drones that supposedly know who this ‘Majesty’ is? So there’s a differentiation between those in the know and those who aren’t, and those who aren’t are supposedly looked down upon for not knowing.
/int/Derivative Innovation[Medium:Success] > Like a secret group, bound together only by shared knowledge and mutual understanding. There’s always an ‘other’ team to look down upon, you’d never thought that split would occur between fellow Disassembly Drones as well though.
/int/Computed Theory[Challenging:Success] > Could this have anything to do with your corrupted memory? Is X one of the people in the know? She said that our memories were reformatted for ‘efficiency’s sake’ but that’s obviously a lie. Why’d she lie to you? Does she not want you to be part of this mysterious ‘in the know’ group? Could this ‘Majesty’ be where X’s orders come from?
/psy/Obediance Program[Challenging:Success] > Do you see the way she utters the words ‘Her Majesty’, the respect in which she says it. This isn’t just some Drone bowing to a higher authority or showing respect to their leader. This is true devotion, the kind you would find when someone is prostrating themselves to their God. Every title is gift-wrapped with a special love and near obsession when she says it. Odds are, this one is especially loyal to her.

CRITICAL SUCCESS
/fys/Nanite Regeneration[Challenging:Success] > In seconds nanites are pumped throughout every vein in your body. Material is broken down and regenerated faster than it had ever been done before. In less than 10 seconds, you’re whole and able once again.
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics[Challenging:Success] > You’re still in the air though, immediately spreading your wings you stabilize yourself in the air.
/mot/Sensory Transducers[Medium:Success] > Ano’s still on the ground staring up at you, then suddenly she leaps
- [Clock Speed - Challenging 12] Dodge her.
- [Lock-On Target - Legendary 14] Shoot her down.
- [Persuasion Analysis - Legendary 14] Tell her to stop.

CHECK SUCCESS
/mot/Clock Speed[Challenging:Success] > Instantly, you’re on the move. She’s quick but she has one fatal error, she can only jump in one direction. Flying to the side, she flies completely past where you used to be.
/desc/Ano > Without pausing, one of her hands switches to a grappling hook and is fired directly at you.
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics[Formidable:Success] > You’ve had both more dangerous and faster stuff fired at you. By complete instinct, you roll to the side dodging the hook in question.
/fys/Biomechanical Instinct[Formidable:Failure] > You probably shouldn’t get up close and personal anymore, your most deadly melee weapon did nothing to her armored plates.
/fys/Hunter’s Directive[Formidable:Success] > K’s usually the aerial expert, but you’ve gotten a couple lessons here and there.
/int/Holographic Modeling[Medium:Success] > You’d spent some time studying how he moves in the air.
/psy/Disassembly Pack > It’s still a little weird that you did that.
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics > Hey, we just wanted to know how to fly better. Nothing weird about it!
/mot/Lock-On Target > You’ve got a whole host of weapons you can play around with. Surely one of them’s gotta do something.
/int/Computed Theory[Medium:Success] > Might as well try the laser weaponry first, those usually get past anything. So long as they’re strong enough.
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Medium:Success] > Might also be a good idea to try and talk her down. It’d be hard to though, we did throw the first punch after all.
- [Lock-On Target - Formidable 13] Blast her with lasers.
- [Persuasion Analysis - Legendary 14] Talk her down.
- [Hunter’s Directive - Heroic 15] Fight her in close quarters combat.

CHECK FAILURE
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Legendary:Failure] > Uhh, I’ve got it! Just say you surrender, there’s no reason this fight needs to be prolonged. You’re a better wordsmith anyways.
HDB@41X011100011:~$ “Wait! I surrender!”
/desc/Ano > She lands on the ground, then sprinting on all fours executes another gigantic leap.
/mot/Clock Speed[Legendary:Failure] > You can’t dodge this one, maybe if you were better prepared for it. But now, all you can do is sit and watch as she tackles you to the ground.
/desc/Ano > One arm holding you up by your throat, she squeezes. “You— insult me, attack— me. And now you— claim surrender” Each word is accentuated with a harsh growl. “Surrender— not accepted.” She tosses you straight to the ground before switching 2 of her hands into hammers.
/mot/Clock Speed[Formidable:Failure] > Nowhere to run.
/psy/Hunter’s Directive[Medium:Success] > Pure fear eclipses your core.
/psy/Self Autonomy[Legendary:Failure] > You can feel it, the stench of death. Your mind almost goes numb with the sensation.
/fys/Reward Function[Medium:Success] > Still would.

CHECK SUCCESS
/fys/Reward Function[Formidable:Success] > All of you are f**king idiots! All of your questions and suspicion and other crap. No, there is only one way for you to win against such a Woman.
/psy/Self Autonomy > Oh, dear robo-god, no no no no no no no no no no no!
/fys/Hunter’s Directive > Do not taint this Hunter with your filth!!
/psy/Obedience Program > Excuse me?! Taint?? She’s about to kill us! Who’s side are you on here?? As far as I’m concerned, if he has an idea, then he can go for it. Not like we have any better plans.
/psy/Amygdalar Model > Oh no, we’re so screwed. Oh we’re so so screwed. You idiot I told you she doesn’t like us! She barely even tolerated us before we attacked her!
/psy/Self Autonomy > We’re going to die..and our last choice will be made by a horny idiot. I..I need to take a moment..
/fys/Reward Function > Oh screw all of you! This has been a long time coming. Come on, H boy. It’s time..to seduce her.
Reward Function - Now, look straight up at her, make sure to give all of her a real nice glance, and then we say the magic words. Oh, and add some finger guns as well, finger guns are always cool.
HDB@41X011100011:~$ [Look her up and down and throw on a pair of finger guns] “You know, I suddenly don’t mind you throwing me down. Wouldn’t be the first time a pretty woman had her wicked way with me” [Wink]
/desc/Ano > She pauses, her hammer hands tumbling down to the ground as her mouth opens wide in shock. Her face glows a bright flushing red, as if her Visor was replaced by a traffic light. “I-w-h-wha?? Do—what was that?!?!” Her remaining 2 arms clutch her bright red face.
/fys/Reward Function > Oh, yeah. We got her.
/psy/Amygdalar Model[Challenging:Success] > I...what exactly have we got? You just made her embarrassed, she doesn’t like you any more than she did before. She became weirdly shy though.
/psy/Persuasion Analysis[Formidable:Success] > Oh wait! This is an opportunity, we’ve got her vulnerable and distracted. We can talk to her, or get her to leave us alone at least.
/fys/Reward Function > Don’t stop seducing her.
/psy/Persuasion Analysis > .....f**k it, we can keep smoothtalking her in between. Can’t hurt I guess.
Persuasion Analysis - Here, just say this. It should work.
HDB@41X011100011:~$ “Anyways you were super busy with something right? I’m sure you were, someone with such a proportioned and robust design clearly was lovingly hand crafted to an important task. I’m sure Her Majesty would love if you managed to complete your mission in record time!”
/desc/Ano > She seems to be taken aback slightly. Clearly, all thoughts of what was happening before have melted away under a puddle of embarrassment and flusteredness. “I— yes, I had a mission. Go— do not bother me again.” Her tone attempts to be commanding but the slight crack in the middle of her sentence betrays her.
/fys/Solver Core > How in the?? You son of a.....
/psy/Self Autonomy[Medium:Success] > I don’t know how this worked but we need to take this chance to dip!
/mot/Mechanical Kinematics > Spreading your wings, you instantly shoot off into the distance at record speeds.
/psy/Obedience Program[Challenging:Success] > What about our mission though?
/fys/Hunter’s Directive > If X wants that mission completed so badly, then she can face the Hunter herself. You barely made it out with your life.
/psy/Amygdalar Model > Wonder if we’ll see her again though. I hope not.
/psy/Esoteric Decipherment[Legendary:Success] > You walk on separate paths, there no longer exists a thread to bind your worlds together. You will not meet her again.
