SCP-77001 – Slenderman
Item #: SCP-77001
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
The parameters of ████████ Park trails are to be fenced off via steel fencing and electricity. Under no circumstances are civilians to be allowed entry. Live video recording equipment is to be kept running around the fencing at all times in order to prevent instances of SCP-77001-B from attempting entry; if an instance is spotted, MTF is to be deployed and instances are to be immediately detained. Live footage is to be reviewed by employees with a clearance level of 3, and regularly rotated every 6 months– there shall be no repeats of employees watching the footage, and once personnel are released, amnestic memetic agents will be applied. They are to never approach the site or speak of their experiences with SCP-77001 to others.
Investigation of SCP-77001 is to be carried out via D-Class personnel carrying analog video recording equipment, one (1) location tracker, one (1) radio heart rate monitor, and one (1) cyanide capsule. Upon the anomaly’s appearance, D-Class are to remain in place and wait out symptoms of SCP-77001-A until anomaly exits the area; once SCP-77001 has left, if D-Class has survived, they are immediately to consume the provided cyanide capsule. No further action is required should death occur during the encounter. Once detected heart rate is flat, a drone is to be sent out to the last known location of the D-Class subject to collect video equipment and returned to site-310.
Once recording equipment is collected, captured footage shall be examined by researchers with a clearance level of 3. All appearances and behaviors are to be recorded textually for future employees to review. Once footage review is complete, memetic agents will be applied immediately and personnel permanently separated from the site to prevent the spread of SCP-77001-A.
Should personnel experience symptoms of SCP-77001-A or have direct encounters with SCP-77001 outside of containment area, they are to be immediately quarantined or killed depending on severity of affliction; those who are quarantined are to be given a dosage of 300mg Oxcarbazepine, taken hourly. A similar procedure is to be performed on those who interact with instances of SCP-77001-B, due to being permanent carriers of SCP-77001-A.
(Note: Current method is not stable; SCP-77001 has been regularly spotted outside of containment area and infection of SCP-77001-A is still ongoing. Further research requested for more reliable containment methods. –B)
(Response to Note: Hello, B. We are aware these are not perfect containment methods— hence the "keter" classification. The current containment methods are to keep civilians out of the current most active site. Research to proper containment is still ongoing. -R)
Description:
SCP-77001 is a humanoid entity lacking facial features, with what seems to be white flesh, a black business suit, white dress shirt, and black tie. It appears to be ~8ft (approx. 244cm) in height, though none have been able to get a direct confirmation. SCP-77001 has been observed to have additional limbs as well, in the form of tentacle-like protrusions that will reach from its back or arms when directly attacking victims. Details regarding biology, material, age, and methods of movement are currently unconfirmed.
The anomaly most commonly manifests in ████████ Park, ███████; the reason why is unknown. When SCP-77001 is seen by non-anomalous humans, subjects will begin to experience SCP-77001-A. Once a subject has been in contact with the SCP, SCP-77001 will begin to regularly stalk the victim, and is capable of manifesting on streets, towns, and outside and within homes. Those who have been stalked for a significant amount of time are able to spread SCP-77001-A, and prolonged involvement will result in the subject becoming an instance of SCP-77001-B. There have been 7 recorded cases of this happening thus far, with 4 survivors (all currently in containment), though it’s hypothesized there are more.
SCP-77001 directly affects digital and analog recordings and photos, causing significant distortion when nearby (visual tearing, static, fluctuating saturation, and audio distortion are the most common). This can be used to detect when the anomaly has appeared. No reliably clear method of recording has been found as of ██/██/████. Prolonged viewing of recordings containing instances of SCP-77001 can cause infection of SCP-77001-A, and as such significant precaution when studying the anomaly is recommended.
Though dangerous, SCP-77001 has yet to have direct, confirmed kills. Instead, the SCP will manipulate instances of SCP-77001-B and incite extreme aggression and paranoia, resulting in the subjects attacking each other and often building up to the death of one or more parties.
SCP-77001-A: A “sickness” contracted by those who have come into contact with SCP-77001. Symptoms range in severity depending on how long the subject has been stalked. SCP-77001-A is capable of being spread, typically through interaction with instances of SCP-77001-B or through learning of SCP-77001’s existence, whether through viewing recordings of the anomaly or speaking with a victim who is being stalked.
Symptoms and severity of infection are listed below. Please note that none of the symptoms disappear, and are simply added on as SCP-77001-A worsens:
-
Mild: Cough, migraines, paranoia, a feeling of “static” in your mind, mild memory loss, indirect or unnoticed interaction with SCP-77001, a need to “record”
-
Moderate: Occasional appearance of blood in coughing fits, significant memory loss, hypergraphia drawings, direct contact with SCP-77001, impulsive behavior
-
Significant: Seizures, consistent appearance of blood in coughing fits, aggression, inconsistent hallucinations, formation of an “alter ego” (once this symptom manifests, subject is to be officially contained and designated as an instance of SCP-77001-B), memory loss of multiple weeks or months at a time
-
Severe: Constant encounters with SCP-77001, dangerous behavior, extreme paranoia, vivid and prolonged hallucinations, random teleportation. Additional symptoms vary between individuals.
Drugs such as anticonvulsants have been found to combat symptoms of SCP-77001-A, as confirmed with SCP-77001-B-1. Another reliable way to combat SCP-77001-A has been removing all knowledge of SCP-77001’s existence from the subject’s memory, as well as relocation away from initial area of infection. However, relocation can only be reliably done in subjects with mild symptoms; if exposure to SCP-77001-A is moderate to severe, then SCP-77001 will simply follow the victim.
SCP-77001-B: Personnel that have had prolonged exposure to SCP-77001, and as such are often followed and influenced by the SCP. Instances of SCP-77001-B have significant to severe symptoms of SCP-77001-A, and typically form an alter ego (usually represented by donning a mask or covering of the face somehow) that is undertaken when being directly influenced by SCP-77001, however there are recorded exceptions. Memory of these moments are not retained once influence has receded.
Currently, there are 4 surviving instances of SCP-77001-B in containment. Instances are to each be kept in a 8.2m x 5.6m x 3m living space with three (3) meals a day and all furnishing requests adhered. Trackers are kept on each of them that will activate a controlled shock when coming within 3.1m (10 ft) of SCP-77001 containment zone.
SCP-77001-B instances currently contained are listed below:
-
SCP-77001-B-1: An adult caucasian male with an age range of 25-35 (direct age is currently unknown), with the legal name Timothy Wright. SCP-77001-B-1 has been involved with SCP-77001 since early childhood, as evidenced by medical records sourced from psychiatric institution [REDACTED] in ███████ as early as ██/██/████ (one collection of records, dated from 1995, has a majority of information redacted alongside a recurring symbol of a circle with an X. This was later found to be done by SCP-77001-B-2). The subject in question has found a reliable way to combat SCP-77001-A, through anticonvulsant prescriptions being taken hourly. Timothy Wright was confirmed missing from [REDACTED] on ██/██/████, and detained on ██/██/████. When directly affected by SCP-77001, SCP-77001-B-1 will become “Masky”; he will be seen wearing a white plastic mask with black accents and will act aggressively. Communication with Masky has been tested, but all attempts have been met with violence. Caution is advised.
-
SCP-77001-B-2: Contained around the same time as SCP-77001-B-1, SCP-77001-B-2 is an adult caucasian male around the ages 25-35, with the legal name Brian Thomas. Brian Thomas became infected with SCP-77001-A 9-18 months after meeting Timothy Wright at [REDACTED]. This has only been found through questioning B-1, however, as 77001-B-2 seems to be permanently in his “alter ego” state, “Hoody”, and cannot directly communicate with staff. Attempts have been made by B-2, however; not long after B-1 was detained, uploads to the youtube channel “totheark” were made directly addressing the foundation. The text found in these videos has been decoded through multiple ciphers, but some are still not fully decipherable as the phrasing and other factors in each video make it difficult to parse the true meaning. This channel seems to be primarily run by Brian Thomas, or “Hoody”, though evidence of other moderators has been found in previous videos. Activity online from B-2 has ceased since containment, and no further direct communication from the anomaly has been made. Generally docile and cautious.
-
SCP-77001-B-3: A caucasian male aged 17-19 years old, with the legal name Toby Rogers. SCP-77001-B-3 seems to be in a permanent “alter ego” state, similar to B-2; however it seems to still have the ability to uncover its face and communicate verbally. It currently chooses to wear orange-tinted aviator goggles and a black human-model bite mask with a smile pattern. Medical documents sourced from ██████ Clinic in [REDACTED] confirm that SCP-77001-B-3 suffers from: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Congenital Insensitivity to Pain and Anhidrosis (CIPA), Tourrette’s Syndrome, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). B-3 claims to have no memory prior to its 17th birthday, and when legal records of its birthplace and currently deceased blood family were found, it expressed curiosity and had little to no familiarity with what was presented. It is suspected that this is the doing of SCP-77001, as its earliest memory is standing in a forest alongside SCP-77001 at age 17. It’s been confirmed that B-3 has killed at least 12 people while being influenced by SCP-77001.
-
SCP-77001-B-4: A caucasian female aged 29-30 years old, with the legal name Katherine Milens-Hayes. Like B-2 and B-3, SCP-77001-B-3 is in a permanent “alter ego” state, and is currently unable to communicate or be interacted with entirely. It wears a white hoodie covered with an unknown substance,
most likely blood(keep it professional, K. –R), and a white mask with severe burning. B-4 is highly aggressive and is currently unresponsive to verbal communication. Cannot be allowed to leave containment area. Details of personal life are currently unknown.
